Fantastic food and view. The look of the ordering screens may give a cheap vibe but get over that and everything else is tip top

Been spoilt now it is only take away on the upper seating floor. Have to wait ages at counter for your food / drink then carry upstairs yourself in takeaway cups. Toasted teacake butter was ruined as had been put in a box with a warm teacake and ended up as liquid by time the coffee was made.

Food and drink is always really nice. Only issue if the staff. Me and my partner were sitting inside and there were 3 members of staff bickering/joking around very loudly as if we weren’t sat there. Shouting across the room and flailing around. It made us feel extremely uncomfortable and we left has soon as we had our food. Obviously not been taught how to act professionally in a work environment.

We had a lovely coffee and a hot chocolate while sitting and looking at the stunning views over the Bristol channel. A very nice place to visit in Penarth. Also had a nice chat with the friendly staff member that served us.

Terrace by the beach, multiple balconies overseeing it with great food and coffee. Absolutely worth stopping at!

Toilets are an utter disgrace quite disgusting for such a nice venue ruined the whole experience. Crossaint was stale and the cod finger brioche with chips was below pare quality. Salad garnish was a bit of rocket and splash of balsamic. Disappointed, this was my third trip here trying different cakes each time which have always been dry/stale either they can't store them correctly or they are past their dates. Shame really because it's a nice location and everything looks so nice. Unsure if will try them again after severally disappointing visits.

A kind lady set up the umbrella for us when we arrived as we was a big group and had a baby who needed shade. Green smoothie was delicious and healthy and the children loved their milkshakes. The only downside was the toilets!! The worst toilets I have ever been in, I am heavily pregnant and there was no toilet seats!! The whole place needed a good scrub down I felt like I was going to catch something! Seriously let it down!!

The waitress was jaw droppingly offhand, no idea why she has chosen to work in hospitality ... she evidently sees customers as an inconvienience. My friend asked about the Tuna Melt listed on the menu outside to which the waitress replied "We haven't got that, must be the wrong menu out there". My Halloumi salad would have been lovely if it hadn't had at least half a red onion in it, eclipsing the flavour of the other ingredients. My partner had "the worst pasty ever". Also, when the place was hardly busy, why is it necessary to have an automatic ordering system ... although of course table service would have meant more interaction with the rude waitress so maybe not a good idea. As for the toilets ... absolutely disgusting.... in a really shocking state.

Visited here this morning for breakfast but noticed on entering that's it's food hygiene certificate was just 2! So we turned around and walked out to find somewhere in town with better hygiene ratings.

We found ordering a little difficult, but the staff were available and assisted us both. The food was absolutely delicious. Scenery is absolutely breathtaking on a sunny day like we had when we visited for breakfast. Many thanks for the rapid service.

It was a lovely sunny day so we thought we'd pop into this place for a bite to eat and a few drinks.We picked a table upstairs and my friend downloaded the app so we could order something to eat and drink.We noticed we couldn't order any food on the app which was strange as there was a lunch menu on the table, quite busy and a lovely hot day.So I went to the hut to speak to the server that we couldn't order food on the app,to which she said the food was finished.So plan B decided to order something light and a couple drinks.The server came back to us and said they didn't have San Miguel so I said I'll have this other beer which Iv never heard of.Drinks arrived and thought this is lovely looking out towards the Pier and people watching while more customers were coming up to sit.Whilst waiting for our cake and crisps the server came back and said they didn't have the cake that i ordered.I just thought this is getting from bad to worse.Cutlery wasnt very clean also.Any ways i felt sorry for the server as she was working on her own.The server decided to close the hut after she put blackboards on the tables to say if anyone wanted to order anything to go downstairs.Customers were bemused by this as they were told to go downstairs to collect what they just ordered,expecting someone to bring it to them.Couldnt understand why this place was shut early with no food and items out of stock.Shame because it's a nice spot to eat and drink when they have food and drink.

I ordered sausage bap with a fried egg - the sausage was over cooked. The flat white and the cortado were ok. You order from a point of sale screen or on a phone; the order was brought out to us after a short time and our waitress was friendly.

No disabled access...they need to put a ramp at the top of the steep hill to access wheelchairs, scooters and prams ..its legislation

Long wait and confusion. I place and order on the app and thought it had been accepted. The Bank card registered to Coffi co was not on an phone app. Customers were coming in after us and getting served before us. I went to enquire, a problem with Mastercard was the answer. The manager kindly helped on the large screen with the order. Forty minutes after the first order toasted bread you needed a steak knife to cut. the rest of the order was fine. I wasn't impressed after all the good food and service I have experienced at this location.

No plug sockets anywhere. So can't bring my laptop here and have a coffee. Coffee is expensive for a quite poor cup. You'd never get away with this in London but I suppose south welshies are a bit behind the times. The fact they can add a bit of syrup and squirty cream to a poor coffee and sell it for 6£ should be a criminal offence They'd never get away with it in London like I said, but simpler folk here that are a bit ignorant to good coffee I suppose

Enjoyed a fantastic coffee & cruffin with both my daughters recently. Nice decor & views, friendly staff & a warm atmosphere to enjoy the baked goodies & coffee. Will definitely return. 💯

Great location, but you have to order everything on an app that doesn’t work. So after spending 10 minutes putting in my order,THEN you find out it doesn’t work. Staff can’t take orders so you have to use a touch screen- menu is confusing. Also no hand sanitizer.

Ordering with a machine makes the experience at a cafe negative. Very disappointed. The whole point of a cafe is the experience

I have enjoyed coming here over the last couple of years. However, it has consistently gone downhill. Went today, Fathers Day, and it was hopeless. The service is non existent , even though the staff only have to bring the food to the table. You do all the ordering yourself. App not working today . Not the first time. The table was full of dirty plates, had to ask it to be cleared. Table filthy, had to ask the server to wipe it. Hopeless, poor service. Surly and unhelpful. Food very poor. All the eggs overcooked and hard, poached and fried. The table behind us were told there was no cutlery available, they had run out !!! A sunny Father's day, didn't they expect to be busy, or do they just not care. They also stop serving food in the week at 3-30pm, on a summer's day. Also closing the app down. A very poorly run business who have absolutely no care or thought for their customers. Go somewhere else, they deserve no business from anyone with their awful service, product and attitude. AVOID

Worst coffee in Penarth. Over extracted burnt. Bitter and tasted like ash. The staff need barista training . Also don’t advertise food then tell people they can have pizza or nothing!

Not sure what all the negative reviews are about. Ordered a pizza and the pulled pork loaded fries and both were delicious. Service was a bit slow but it was quite busy as the sun made an appearance. Prices are expected for a seafront restaurant. Overall if you're looking for a mid level cafe with good food I would recommend.

Just a great place for drinks and fantastic food on the front. The app works really well, and the covered area on the roof makes it suitable whatever the weather. You can even take dogs in.

A very interesting place. Very atmospheric with amazing views over the promenade to the sea. The staff were good, we were directed to a screen to order and pay, ( I prefer old-fashioned people ), and the service was prompt and friendly. The restrooms could have used some attention, and as there were food handling gloves in the bin I suspect the staff were aware. Otherwise a lovely place for a drink and to watch the world go by.

Extremely slow service, drinks came ages after the food. If you are short staffed get more or don't operate!

Unable to order at 12:30pm as “too busy” despite being at less than 50% occupancy. Clearly badly managed if unable to staff a lunch service. Full of hungry unhappy customers. All style no substance.

Gorgeous cafe right on the sea front and the glass front saves you from the wind on a cold day.

It's always a risk with this place due to its hygiene rating be a two at the time of writing. They have a great location and excellent menu for food and drinks. It's a great place to stop by, but unfortunately, it had only a two hygiene rating. For how expensive it is too I would expect better hygiene rating and service. I eat here without knowing and not sure I'd return now which is a shame as it was nice food. Just be aware before ordering then realising like I did.

Don’t know what this place is supposed to be. Arrived thinking we’d get coffee and lunch (which is what the board shows at the entrance) only to be told it’s a pop up kitchen today and we’re serving massive burgers and Korean wings.

Update on this Coffi Co establishment. Since Food Standards have recently provided more details on their Scores on the Doors I was able to establish that their food hygiene rating was satisfactory. They were marked down on structural issues and attitude of management. However, for me food hygiene and safety are the most important so I feel 4 stars is a more accurate assessment of this establishment.

Delicious breakfast and coffee! 👌😋

Completely confused as to what this place is meant to be - which may sound strange but bear with me. Arrived for coffee and some lunch on a Saturday afternoon and told there was no space as they aren’t putting 2 people on a table of 6. Okay, fair enough. The way in which this was communicated made me and the person I was with feel a bit stupid, as there was no warm welcome - just “No sorry, no tables.” Upon walking outside to the covered terrace, there was a table of 2 so we took it. Ordered via the app which was fine. Latte arrived and it was TINY. For £4 odd for an oat latte with caramel, and £3 odd for an americano, I expected a bit more than an 8oz flat white cup. Foam had flavours of the crema from the espresso coming through which was stupidly under extracted and acidic. The door was constantly left open - even with staff coming and going, nobody seemed to close the door to the outside area allowing all the hot air from the heat lamps to leave instantly. The sheltered outside space was incredibly dusty (see photos) and the table rocked when pushed on one corner. A couple had 2 takeaway coffees and sat on a table of 2 next to us - despite the restaurant not having enough seats to accommodate people who wanted food. The water cups on the bar were plastic (despite being in a location that advertises itself as a bar, why do you not have some small glasses available?) and located next to a box of dirty dishes - meaning I had to ask where they were, again feeling like a nuisance to the staff. I just don’t get it. Service was sub par and felt like we were an annoyance being there, is this meant to be a coffee shop or a restaurant or a bistro or a bar ? It’s trying to be too much and the menu felt a bit all over the place too. Going from Katsu fries to filled yorkshire puddings? Cakes looked nice I will say, but overall I didn’t want to give anymore cash over to the business based on how the experience had been so far. Don’t get me started on the toilets - understand they are council owned but if they’re on your premises to the average customer they are part of your business. They look like they’re straight out of the films Trainspotting. Overall incredibly disappointing experience. Main gripe was that I was made to feel like I was an annoyance when i’m the one paying into the company.

Hot chocolate and biscuit was great, will try breakfast in the future as looks really good. I did come back and the food was great.

A really rude waitress coupled with a hygiene rating of two makes this establishment an avoidable encounter. I’ve never had such a hostile experience whilst trying to order a takeaway coffee. I was amused however to see that the sticker with the hygiene rating had been hidden at the bottom left of the entrance door out of shame. It’s currently peeling off. This sums up the sad state of affairs regarding this business.

Just called in for a coffee. Seen the giant Yorkshire Puddings. So had to have one. Roast beef so tender it melts in your mouth. Vegetables, gravy. Just awesome. Staff very polite and helpful.

Only had a hot chocolate, which was only just warm. Toilets were disgusting!!

Almost rude service and had to wait outside for my take-away coffee. While outside I found an almost hidden food hygiene report of just 2 on the sliding door. Not even the amazing views compensate for that 😔

Called in on a cold windy morning. Seated on the veranda for the nice views under the heat lamps. Ordered at the bar and drinks came first and then the food. The sausage baps were tasty but could have done with a bit more of the relish. The banana cake got the thumbs up.

Great location very expensive for what they offer. Ordered a pot of tea for two cost £6.15 fine but was served in to large mugs, no cutlery, packets of sugar and nowhere to put your tea bag. Just poor value for money.

Great seafront coffee shop in a beautiful victorian building with large rooftop terrace. The views are lovely, plenty of tables and heaters, plus cover from the rain. Orders are taken either or at the bar. Good selection of hot drinks, alcohol, food and cakes. Always a nice atmosphere and good service and they offer takeaway Toilets available outside of the main building but very basic! Been coming here for a few years as it's local, but prices have noticeably increased and no longer feel that it's value for money which is a great shame.

After a lovely fresh beach walk with grandchildren and adult children, went for hot drink and cake. Paid £43 for 6 lukewarm drinks, hot chocolate and coffees and six cakes. Service poor, we had finished our lukewarm drinks before cakes arrived…. After I went back in and asked where our cakes were. Shocking drinks and service, no wonder the place was quiet…. Lesson learnt! 🤮

Be careful when ordering - we were all ordering on the app today when we were asked by a server if we would like to order with them to save time. Upon paying we realised the prices were higher than the menu said. Asking the server they told us they had added a 7.5% service charge to all orders taken by a member of staff. We felt this was quite underhand as we were not told of this before and would have continued ordering via the app if we knew this was the case. The views are nice and the food is ok, but this left a bit of a sour taste today!

My meal when it arrived was only luke warm, my wife ordered poached eggs on toast but was served eggs on avocado and toast. Coffee was very good though.Toilets were very unpleasant. Very grubby could do with a complete refit.

I was shocked that coffi co no longer has their own toilet and users of this popular cafe are expected to use the public toilet, which were dirty and not useable - they don’t even have hot running water. I will not be using this cafe in the future

Nice hot day, upper area very busy. Ordering food/drink very poorly organised. British 'stand in line' made it work at all. Food delivered to table, but drinks only to lower area outside the bar. Hence food delivered to table inside ten minutes, drinks brought out after twenty five minutes. No glass for my soft drink, out of a can (watched a previous order have a glass, but too fed up to argue.). Food actually quite good (large Yorkshire pudding with slow-cooked beef). Drinks pricey, and 7.5% service charge added. Would have denied this had I known beforehand how bad the drinks service was going to be. Somebody needs to sort out the organisation of the place, especially how the bar/drinks/ordering works.

Food and drinks were decent enough, but the service was shockingly awful - 25 minutes wait for a coffee. Tables were disgusting, asked for it to be cleaned and ended up doing it ourself (which we don’t mind doing, but, we shouldn’t have to clean up someone else’s mess). Hard to recommend it, cool building but the service needs an overhaul.

We had the vegetarian English breakfast, which was very nice. The chai latte with oat milk is delicious. Definitely try it out.

Very quiet but not surprising for a Tuesday lunchtime in September when it's damp and windy. Nicely surprised by the availability of Gluten Free options... anything with bread or wraps and where the wraps came with tortilla chips swapped out for chips as wasn't 100% sure they were gf Very tasty chicken hoisin wrap and a gf chicken and bacon

The view from the top seating area is lovely. Sadly the service and quality of food and drink doesn’t match this. Coffee served in cardboard cups doesn’t taste as good as it would in a china one. As food is served on china crockery, why can’t the coffee come in a choice of china or cardboard cups? Miserable waitress. Smashed avocado boring and tasteless. Sausage bap ok.

Visited here today for lunch and extremely disappointed. On arrival was told could only sit in if ordering hot food which luckily we was as it was pouring it down with rain and no seats outside so wouldn’t have had much choice otherwise. Ordered a halloumi and avacado wrap with sweet chilli sauce.. come with no sweet chilli sauce and very tasteless was not nice at all, then asked for the sweet chilli sauce and it was brought out looking and tasting quite watery and bland. Did not eat the wrap took two bites and left it. The falafel and hummus wrap was nice and so was the caramel milkshake. Hot chocolate brought in cardboard cup.. disappointing as sitting inside. Awful smell inside which not sure if it was the toilets or something else but smelt very bad! Expensive prices and service was disappointment, staff looked miserable and made no effort with good customer service or help. Was told to scan QR code for menu.. no food menu only pizza so had to go up to order anyway. A shame as come here before for coffee whilst in the area and enjoyed it so went back today looking forward to try the food too and all I can say is what a waste of a trip.. won’t be coming back again and don’t advise anyone else on paying the trip.

It's a lovely spot to have a coffee, especially on a sunny Sunday morning. The free WiFi is good, and it's a very dog-friendly place. But prices are very high, verging on the ludicrous (£3.60 for a black coffee in a paper cup), and service is efficient rather than welcoming.

Highly impressed by the variety and quality of baked goods offered by Coffi Co - we tried one of their cruffins and cookies. Both presented nicely and definitely hit the spot for an overcast afternoon by the coast. Can recommend cutlery for the cruffin if you wish to avoid a sticky mess with the filling inside.

Nice staff and location, but so overpriced for less than average food. £15 for burger and chips: budget frozen beef burgers, and a chicken burger which was so overcooked it was barely chewable. Wouldn't recommend.

Coffi Co is a gem! Great coffee and cozy atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Nice full breakfast but I’d say homemade beans are a waste of time, not as nice as Heinz or any tinned variety

Hygiene rating of 2 displayed. Service was OK and the seating was comfortable. Coffee was served in take away cups which was disapointing. The food was reasonable although the beans weren't great but the sausages were really good. The bill was £45 which I thought was a bit steep for a medium and a large breakfast both with coffee and 2 x small bottles of water. I won't be rushing back.

We travelled to Penarth to have breakfast with views of the coast but was very disappointed to discover this place would not accept cash, unbelievable. Things happen for a reason, we walked 100 yards and discovered a quaint Italian restaurant Romeo’s which was amazing and accepted cash.

15 minute for an oat milk all latte which was dreadful.

Nice ciabatta and wrap lunch on a lovely sunny day, out on the top floor looking out over the bay. Great views and very decent lunch, but a little more shaded area would have been nice too.

Worst place I've eaten in a long time. If I wasn't so hungry I would have returned the meal after the first bite. It was well cooked and decent presentation but in general those burgers your selling absolutely disgusting I had a few bites and took the rest home for my dog. And on top of that after my meal I noticed a smallprint saying 7% tax is added on to eat inside, if that is tip money, it wasn't deserved. Won't be returning here, not to eat food anyway. Foul food, shoddy inside, and overpriced. Honestly felt ripped off by going here, wish I gone to the chippy on the peir.

Have had plenty of breakfasts here on our Sunday walk and it never disappoints.

I have never had a problem with the drinks menu or the drinks received from coffee co, however if it is food you are after I definitely would not recommend. The Smashed Avocado comes with a sparing amount of avocado which seemed more like a processed avocado spread as opposed to freshly smashed avocado. One of the Veggie Lounge Breakfasts ordered took exceptionally long to arrive (4/5 of us had to start and had completely finished by the time the 5th breakfast arrived). A team member did apologise for the delay and informed of a fault in the kitchen and this apology was much appreciated. We then however noticed that the dish description when you order through the app stated that the Veggie Lounge Breakfast comes with halloumi so we kindly asked for this to be rectified. The team member then came back with a printed copy of the menu on which halloumi isn’t stated in the description so no halloumi was given. Having worked in hospitality myself, I would have thought the halloumi would’ve been given as a gesture of goodwill especially considering both the discrepancy between the online and printed menu (which we didn’t see as we were encouraged to order through the app) and the tremendous wait for the breakfast to come.

Very difficult to order. Been told to download app, signup, look at menu on app and then pay on app provided you have setup payment gateway on phone. Cash was not being accepted. Atmosphere and views were excellent and so were the coffees...

We headed down to the pier for breakfast and decided to go to Coffi co. We sat at the top deck and ordered our breakfast. We sat near the top kitchen were we heard constant chat between the 2 lads who worked there and the odd swear word. They communicated via radio downstairs which is fine but please buy some earpieces as I don’t want to hear about other peoples orders. The breakfast however was good but a little over priced with the added tip as standard definitely put me off. Won’t be going back unfortunately

To be honest expected better. Daughter’s Caesar Salad was excellent but both husband and I had Welsh Rarebit with chips and slaw which was poor. Thin flabby bread and flavourless cheese rarebit. Took an age to come by which time I’d finished my coffee so asked for a glass of water which never arrived. All orders had to be done via app and yet they state 7.5% is automatically charged for service before you’ve even received any. We deducted this as felt it was awful to be charged for a service they weren’t providing seeing as we were ordering ourselves via app. Food eventually arrived that was only time we had contact with any member of staff. Coffee was good - shame about paper cup even when eating in though. Also despite ordering 3 meals only had 2 sets of cutlery provided and had to request a third. Shame too about dried up egg on table that hadn’t been cleaned. On way out noticed 2 star hygiene rating.

Reputation undeserved. £2.90 for a builders teabag in a paper cup despite order of earl grey. Not teapots even. Atmosphere dull. Tables cramped. ☹️

Good pub grub. Great sitting out area on roof. Stunning views. You buy a take away and carry it to the roof seating. Beer a selection of bland larger; not totally disappointing, but an area for improvement.

Views amazing, food amazing. Parking nearby. Vegetarian breakfast is outstanding. Thankfully, given the name, coffee is superb. Views over Bristol Channel. Go to for breakfast when in the area. Never had lunch there though.

I have been going to this place for years and, unfortunately, the service has slowly gotten worse. I went there yesterday and the service was terrible. The young lady who wore a platt was rude and unaccommodating. With people skills like that, she's in the wrong trade.

Such a lovely location. The staff were fantastic,friendly helpful and polite. We were exploring the area and this was a welcome break . We took our dog too and even he was given excellent service. We had cake and coffee which was delicious.Thank you for the warm up and friendly service.
