Farmers Arms in The Vale of Glamorgan

Went for a Sunday roast today with my mother. I was greeted with a warm welcome on arrival, seated and the atmosphere was lovely. The Sunday roast was incredible, thoroughly enjoyed the meats were so tender and the veg was cooked to perfection. If you’re having a lazy Sunday or would like to treat yourself by going out for dinner then I highly suggest booking a reservation at this pub.

Wonderful birthday evening meal for my mum. The staff were friendly and efficient, service was quick and the food was excellent! 5* all around!

Went for Sunday lunch with the family. Food was excellent as was the service!! Highly recommended any of the Sunday meats. I had lamb which was melt in the mouth. Wife had beef which same standard!

We visited the Farmers arms today for a Sunday roast for a family of 4. Absolutely fantastic, quantity, quality, presentation, service and value for money, we will definitely return and would highly recommend. We had a look at the weekly menu and will also be giving them a try soon..

Lovely friendly welcoming pub !

Sunday lunch is awesome. Lots of fresh vegetables. Tender pork and chicken and perfect roast potatoes. Gravy should be eaten straight from a mug as so yummy. Sticky toffee pudding is just so light and tasty. Only gripe is no espresso, but can live with that lol. Staff are lovely. Was really busy but thankfully we’d booked ahead. Will definitely be revisiting very soon

Living so close to we don’t eat here enough but will definitely be back. Delicious Sunday lunch, for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The large 4 meat meal is amazing and great value for money. Plenty of hot tasty veg and service with a smile (even in this heat).

Never felt so unwelcome at a pub. We arrived at 10, however we called beforehand to make sure it was okay to be served at a relatively late time. NEVER even in my years of working and experiencing customer service and hospitality have I had such a rude and unwelcome staff member behind the bar. I hope it was an anomaly because if that is the standard service this establishment is unacceptably rude and unwelcoming. We where nothing but friendly to them from the start. Absolutely ruined my day and returning would be the last thing I do. Such a shame that one person can ruin the reputation and history of a pub for myself as a local resident in the area. If you act like this then working behind the bar is nothing but devastating for the reputation of your pub. Perhaps it’s a one off. But it’s one too many nevertheless. Genuinely shook and repulsed.

Very pleasant staff, prompt service. I was impressed that the landlady was concerned that I hadn't finished my meal in case there was something wrong with it. There wasn't, it was fine. Just me not as hungry as I thought. My wife had no trouble finishing her lasagne, which she told me was excellent.

Fab pub fab food lovely bar staff ,will be using it again

Not been here for a number of years but was always good so decided to re visit. It did not disappoint. Friendly helpful staff, really good Sunday lunch, tastiest beef we’ve ever had, good portion, everything piping hot and they even bring you an extra jug of gravy without asking. Delicious. Would highly recommend and will return.

We visited today for the first time as a party of four and we all thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday dinner.Two had beef, one had chicken and I had the pork dinner. The food was good quality and the gravy and vegetables were delicious. We asked for an extra portion of roast potatoes which we were glad we did as they were delicious and there weren’t that many on the plate…..my one and only slight criticism. We each had a pudding and there was an impressive list of desserts! I had the crumble and custard which was one of the best crumbles I have ever tasted, and the others had chocolate fudge cake, white chocolate and raspberry roulade and a chocolate orange ice cream cake. We had a table next to the log fire which was roaring away…and as it was bitterly cold outside, we loved this! This was our first visit and certainly won’t be our last. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and all the staff were very welcoming and friendly….highly recommend a trip here!

Sunday lunch with friends, best Sunday lunch in Cowbridge by far ! Tasty and good value. Food was hot and delicious- compliments to the chef ! The girls/boys serving did a great job friendly and accommodating when we asked for more gravy and veg.. definitely recommend.

It's difficult to review eatery's at the moment due to covid having such an impact on the hospitality industry. -The new girls waitressing were trying hard to please everyone and run around the masses of patrons. They will get it with time and confidence. - The management didn't appear overly concerned with customers not following the one way system. - the food we had was a roast dinner I'd prefer the chef to add the vegetables as self serving out of the dish on the table was just unnecessary. - The roast dinner was £10.95 each but to me didn't seem worth the price. When you go out to eat, you expect it to be better quality than you would be able to make at home. Now this doesn't mean that it wasn't good. Just not as good as you would expect. - Also, you cannot call a roast dinner as such without a Yorkshire pudding. Which for some reason you could only have with the beef meat option. Probably will be better after covid so will return in a few months to update.

Lovely restaurant, visited for a family roast and I was not disappointed. The food was incredible and the portions were right. The vegetables served with the Sunday roast were well seasoned and cooked just how I like them, which is not the common 'with a crunch' style. The staff were lovely, and the restaurant was clean. Excellent all round.

Have had many Sunday lunches here, but today was the first once since Covid. Had prawn cocktail to start followed by lamb dinner and was not disappointed other places we have been to recently have altered their menu to try and claw back lost revenue, but this was the same excellent quality and the same price. Well done The Farmers Arms.

Average as food for kids is poor. Burgers are like breeze blocks. Adults food fine

We drove down from Barry to the Farmers Arms my girlfriend, baby and myself, on entering we were greeted by the manger who’s service has been exceptional every time I’ve visited, we then discovered I’d made a complete boo boo of a booking and had booked somewhere else for 6pm, I thought we wouldn’t get in as the pub was quite brisk with people but the manager accommodated us perfectly considering they were clearly busy and we sat on a nice table in front of the servery, the staff were super nice, bubbly and all carried smiles which in itself is a brilliant feat this day and age, and all switched on with the service with a warm friendly attitude but not overkill, natural customer services. Anyways our drinks were ordered and we had a waitress named Ashley who was friendly, charismatic but efficient and we never had to wait for anything as the service was super slick. My partner ordered the soup and I ordered the pate which was incredible, Light, Fluffy and really enjoyable, my girlfriends vegetable soup was so nice that I also had to clear that out too, the table was cleared with a nice pace not to be rushed but to see there service was high end, mains arrived which my partner had the specials sea bass which looked incredible which she wouldn’t let me try, myself ordered the fillet steak, chips, peppercorn sauce with onion rings, I’ve traveled everywhere to have a fillet but this absolute ripper topped the bill for me, succulent and full of flavour would be an understatement, orgasmic was my selected words to which I asked the waitress to advise the chef that the fillet was of the highest order... overall the visit like every time is always about the quality as it’s incredible food and service which is a rare thing today, I couldn’t recommend this put enough, I’m looking for something to give feedback on that would be constructive but there’s nothing I’d change... Elite food, Elite service.

Booked table prior to new car buying day with daughter, friendly staff meet and greet etc.., seated in restaurant drinks ordered, good choice on menu sensible prices too, dinner served all very nice, only small gripe, prices of deserts, bit on the expensive side for really run of the mill quality, but all in all nice. Would we return.... Maybe.

Love this place fantastic service an staff

Nestled in the beautiful Brecon Beacons nr Crickhowell this community run pub serves some of the best food in the area. We went for dinner on a Friday, booking ahead online, and sat in the raised garden with hillside views. I had a fragrant and perfectly spiced butternut squash and chickpea bhuna with wild rice and my husband had a good sized and beautifully made stake and ale pie. The chefs, Stuart and Colin (and his wife) are friendly and welcoming. The locals sat and drank alongside families and visitors and someone lit a makeshift outside fire later in the evening. Wonderful pub!!

Partner moved into Wick about a week ago and the fact I always drive past this place for work we thought we'd give it a try ! The food is absolutely astonishing. Literally couldn't imagine it better and especially for such a good price. The service from the staff an absolute A* helpful and so generous!

Went for Sunday lunch with my mum and step dad and had the loveliest, yummiest lunch ever. Stunning gravy and the loveliest veg&potatoes. Service was fab with friendly staff. A lovely pub. Also had pudding which was insane.

First time to visit The Farmers for my wife and I for sunday lunch. First impressions were fantastic ! We were made to feel very wecome by the staff, orders were taken quickly. Food was of a very good standard, generously portioned and served piping hot. Will return soon to try out the midweek menu, and would highly recommend this little gem of a pub/restaurant

Went for a mid afternoon Sunday lunch with family (including a toddler) having booked a table and bar staff were really welcoming, offered us a seat and took our drinks orders bringing them to our table whilst we waited for our friends. Great relaxed informal atmosphere in the bar and it was nice to see that menu wasn't over complicated and was serving sunday roasts, 4 different types of meat and starters..... Child portions were available which was perfect for the 2yr old. It had a really good old school feel about the pub and the starters were tasty and came out promptly. The highlight for us was the roast dinner....... oh boy... it was like my Gran used to make and it came out with extra gravy for everyone. The gravy was awesome. The meat was plenty and well cooked, veggies came in a dish to share and unlike in previous restaurants there were plenty for everyone. Roasties were good aswell! Completely stuffed we werent sure on a dessert until the boards came out... again proper old school desserts, crumble, custard, jam roly poly, salted caramel cake, triple chocolate fudge cake.... perfect portions and well worth leaving with that satisfying really full feeling!!! The staff were attentive and were asked periodically if we wanted more drinks. Our littlun was made welcome when she escaped from the table and wondered around the wood burner added to a relaxed sunday atmosphere. Will most certainly be returning.

We visited the Farmers Arms today, 12th Jan, for Sunday lunch with the family. We were a party of 8 including 2 children.We’ve visited many times and keep coming back!The food was delicious. To start we had the Pate which was amazing - a very generous helping of brussels pate with plenty of toast, a side salad and berry sauce. Our party also had the Prawn Cocktail which they loved.For mains I had the four meat dinner (lamb, chicken, beef and pork). A great portion size, the roast potatoes were cooked to perfection, the gravy was exceptional. Then plenty of veg to go around.I was too full for desert but the kids had some ice cream and another had the ice cream bomb which was salted caramel in ice cream.Throughout all of the staff were excellent and couldn’t do enough to help / meet our needs. Very friendly and polite. Were great with the kids too :)We highly recommend The Farmers Arms and we’ll be back soon. We make a 45 minute journey to come here - it is totally worth it!Thanks you Farmers Arms!

Visited yesterday after a children’s party with a group of 20 people! Staff very rude and asked us to leave at 5pm stating no children allowed after 5! Poor customer service and we will not return. What makes things worse is the pub was empty when we left.

This is the worst pub/restaurant I have ever been in the staff where rude me and couple of friend and kids went for a drink thinking we would be made welcome as we where the only people in their no joke we all had a drink a rough head count 25 people including the kids the staff kept telling the kids to shush why as we where the only customers in the place we asked about having food turned down straight away then we got told kids had to be out by five with that they started snatching the kids drinks so we all went over the road had a great laugh came out after an hour or so still the other pub was empty if I could give this place a minus I would I can't honestly recommend this place to anyone

Great experience at this welcoming friendly place today. Excellent meals with plenty of choice from lunchtime and evening menus, to suit variety of taste and portion sizes. Indulgent desserts, first class service and presentation will certainly mean an early return visit.

Always a friendly welcome and professional service. A good place to go for a special occasion , we also have our Christmas dinners there as the food is absolutely lovely, it's recommended.

Sunday lunch was very tasty. Portions were good. Sufficient veg. The main course was £10 per adult and worth the money. The waiting staff were very friendly.Dessert was a bit disappointing. There were a lot of options, but when the raspberry Eton mess arrived there was one raspberry on the top of meringue and ice cream.

Came here has I heard good things about there Sunday dinner take ways, it a old country vibe pub going on just what I like, the dinner was ok there was loads of veg and meat, the roasties where over done and burnt ( the 2nd best part to the dinner in my eyes ) and the Gravey was lovely and thick just how I like it but lacked flavour which was a disappointment but I will be coming back to try again as our sitting was around 2 ish so may of been coming to the end of the service so gonna try for a earlier spot and hopefully it will be spot on

Friendly staff, lovely fresh cooked food

I’m giving this 3 stars as the start of our meal was marred somewhat by the fact that having pre-booked for 7 people (for our 30th Anniversary) we were told the booking was down for 2! We were made to feel somewhat at fault which was a bit off putting as we would never have booked for 2 on this occasion... We were eventually seated and the food was nice but not as good as I remembered from a couple of years ago...onwards to try somewhere new I think!

Service 100% food 100% drink 100%. Owners cant do enough for you. Staff are so kind. Called in this place on the off chance last year. Visit every week now. Well worth the visit. Keep up the good work

I'm sure others will mark the venue higher than I have done but, the Farmers Arms was not for me. Nothing wrong with the food, I've had better and worse; the same goes for the service. Sorry but it didn't float my boat.

Welcoming pub with great staff and good service. Sunday lunch is excellent, a good choice of starters, the main course is piping hot with a good variety of vegetables and tasty meat.

went here for lunch. when we arrived it was quite quiet but it still got busy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They had a lunch menu with a good selection of meals. The a further menu with steaks etc on and some very interesting other food. Then there was the specials board. So as you can tell a good choose of food. The food was excellent fresh and tasty, prices excellent. Will return
