I really like the coffee here , but the problem is it doesn't open often enough , quite often if I go there it's closed up. So please check first if you intend to go.

Love this place , the coffee is of a very high standard and the staff are very friendly . When I’m over the Knap it’s always my first port of call , just wish it would open more days of the week.

Good portions of breakfast and lunchtime food and snacks with excellent coffee and hot chocolate. The menu seems a little limited until you realise they have beautiful fresh pies and Quiche in the chiller cabinet that are not on the menu. Very friendly staff make this a great place to eat and read the paper.

It's always the same, relaxed, clean, well presented food, great coffee. Delivered by staff that take a pride in what they do. What more could you ask for.

Myself and my partner went for a coffee and a little bite to eat after a dog walk. On ordering told it would be a wait as they were busy, that’s fine because they told us. Started to rain and the umbrellas outside were not stopping the rain, guess they are more parasols than umbrellas, there were tables free inside but we weren’t allowed in as dogs not permitted inside. So we got our money back and left so lucky there was a wait for our food and drinks. However there was a couple with a dog and a young child sitting outside and she was getting soaked but unfortunately for them they already had their food. I just don’t understand why dogs are discriminated against in some Cafes. So if your with your dog and it looks like it could rain find somewhere else or get wet.

First time at the Bridge Cafe was in 1971, when it was beans on toast and chips for tea on a regular basis for us students at nearby Glan y Mor hostel. Great proprietor (forgotten his name) in his white cook's overall! Have eaten here many times over the past few years (having not visited for 30 years) and what a change! Now a lovely, light and airy cafe catering for today's tastes (a bit healthier!) - consistently good with fresh ingredients and always enjoy the visit. Dalier ati Caffi'r Bont!

A very popular cafe for great coffee cakes and snacks. Spotless with an outside seating area that is a real sun trap. It’s just a nice place with a genuine friendly welcome.

What a place. Excellent service, food is amazing. We had toasted sandwiches all served with a little salad and olive oil and balsamic vinegar, a lovely touch. Will definitely go back. Cakes are sooooo good too.

Called in for a refreshing tea and welshcake. Fab service and the welshcakes were superb - served warm and with a hint of lemon flavour. We will go back and sample lunch in the very near future.

. . . . Volveré sin duda.

What a lovely little place this is - I've been here a couple of times while over in Barry, and the service has been warm and friendly, and the food/drink has been great! It seems to be quite the social hub for locals stopping by, having a natter and building a real sense of homeliness to it! I just wish there was something like this near me!

This is such a delightful gem, I don't know if I want you all finding it! It serves delicious and beautiful cream teas, fresh sandwiches, potatoes in their jackets, salads and a cornucopia of cakes. They were making Welsh cakes as I gave in my order. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It is spotlessly clean and a cut above run of the mill cafes.

I've been meaning to go here ever since last summer when I got a take away coffee from her (because we were at the GlastonBarry weekend in Romuilly Park and there was no coffee to be had inside). Anyway, we finally got there for lunch today and enjoyed it very much. The toasties are freshly made and served with a nice little salad garnish. The raspberry and apple crumble was divine, and the coffee is great.

My husband and I have been visiting this lovely café for several years now on our frequent days out at Cold Knap. We usually just have coffee and hot chocolate but if there are freshly baked Welsh cakes up for grabs, then we can never resist-they are probably the best I have ever tasted and I make pretty good ones myself!! The owner and her staff are delightful and there is a nice outside area to sit in, where dogs are very welcome. Highly recommended.

This is a great little cafe in The Knap end of town. We were here for a quick coffee and cake on a lovely sunny afternoon and we were able to sit outside. The coffee was attractively served and there were plenty of staff on to cope with a busy sunny afternoon trade. it is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

Visited today on a wet Sunday lunchtime and were not disappointed. The service, friendliness and homemade snacks and cakes are worth every penny.Quite a small place as everyone was inside due to the weather, but we were glad we chose it, we will be back! Lemon cheesecake - wow.Everything served with a nice touch and a bit of style, well done!

Been going to this cafe since it was a greasy spoon style caf years ago. It has a lovely location on a lovely day. Seating inside is limited and the cafe has a tendency to echo a lot when quieter. It has a very french cafe feeling to it allNowadays. The coffee is lovely and the choice of homemade delights is spot on .. The staff are polite and there is always a nice crowd here, sadly I don't get here as much as I used to, but when I venture near the lake area - I head for the bridge, as do a LOT of people.

Very pleasant little cafe. Great to have a sit down and chat with the kids after a day exploring beaches. The prices are good, £2.00 cafe latte, and some very nice rhubarb and Apple cake £2.50. A great little buzz of a nice local cafe. Comfortable, nice decor and friendly staff.

Stopped in here to have a cuppa and a bite to eat, decided to try the tea cakes but they only use Organic butter which was a shame as my wife can't have butter but the did have Robbios tea which we do like. I got to say the tea cake was lovely and the tea came in a nice tea pot that did not dribble, (one of my pet hates)The place was quite full but there was a few spaces and we managed to squeeze in on table but had to move to let others out and when you looked around there were a lot of tables that could not be used. Then a cat appeared out of nowhere and settled down on the seats opposite, which I thought was a bit strange to let a cat make itself at home in a place where food is being served. The staff seemed friendly and did smile when they were serving you, we will go back as I would have loved to have tried the Welsh cakes that were cooking.

This has to be the friendliest cafe for miles around and we have lost count of the numerous satisfied visits we have made here. The staff and owners know how to make a good cup of coffee...with a consistency that is rare...and it has taste, something a lot of coffee shops seem incapable of providing. Everything is of a very high standard and very clean, even a simple piece of toast is a treat...but the cakes are something else - mouth wateringly good! And that is after you've admired the top quality presentation - those little touches on your plate are what sets this place apart from everywhere else. It can get very busy but that's because it is so good. Cannot recommend it enough!

We visited The Bridge Cafe on a sunny Saturday afternoon in July. They have an impressive choice of hot and cold drinks available, and a selection of cakes and snacks. Unfortunately they were unable to cope with the volume of business and were falling behind with the orders. Although our order was only for two coffees, we waited just over twenty minutes for them to arrive. At the stroke of 5pm, while we were still in the cafe, they closed the doors and began the process of clearing up for the day - a far-from subtle hint that they wanted us to leave. I have to say that I didn't feel "welcome", and I didn't feel valued as a customer. I don't think I will be going back there soon.

I love this cafe. I go at least once a week and it is always great. Chris makes the best coffee I have ever had, he is brilliant at his job. I also highly recommend the delicious teacakes or some lusciously buttered brown toast to go with your coffee. Their chai latte is also scrumptious too!!

Located at the Knap in Barry along the “café belt” the Bridge stands head and shoulders above the “greasy spoon” alternatives. The best coffee in the area prepared by a barista who really knows his stuff. All complimented by a range of quality fresh cakes and sandwiches. Consistently friendly and efficient service in an atmosphere unsullied by fry ups - the lack of which is a definite plus point for me.

Fantastic little cafe, clean modern decor, great full range of coffees, milkshakes and fabulous cakes some big enough for 2 to share. Also do teacakes etc, simple lunches and organic ice-cream. Always seems busy but never long before you can get a table, good seating outdoors too on a sunny day overlooking lakeside.

My parents booked this 6 weeks in advance for a family dinner The restaurant was far from busy near empty ..Ordered at 1:15 …the starters turned up at 2 o’clock ..45 mins later it took the staff a further 30 minutes to clear the table after eating …the bar staff do the table service so if the bar is busy the restaurant is on stop and the food goes cold ..45 mins after the starter the mains course turns up 3 .oclock 2 hours in the venison was off the menu …they run out of steak on a bank holiday on a sat afternoon..no steak for the sat night sitting …the steak I ordered turned up it was more like a burger than a steak …I complained..the barmaid . Come waitress said I can change it ..but it would be a while ..I laughed there’s no one in here it shouldn’t take long to cook a steak …you know we been sat here 2 hours …her reply well you did have starters ……I eat the steak out of embarrassment of making a justified complaint turning into an Argument…I didn’t bother with desert by this time we were 2 hours plus sitting down …the food hygiene rating is 3 ……avoid this restaurant at all costs

We have been coming to the Fox for a good few years, it has always been our go to for birthday treats. Tonight was a huge disappointment. My husband and I ordered sirloin steak and the quality was awful. It was tasteless, tough and overcooked. I did complain but was just told they would take 50% off one of the steaks. I didn’t eat mine. I think what was even more disappointing was that they didn’t seem to care. The waitress was lovely but if there was a manager on site then they weren’t interested in speaking with us. This is the first negative restaurant review I have ever written. Such a shame. We won’t be returning, and I’m guessing The Fox won’t be interested in responding
