Basil's Coffee Corner in The Vale of Glamorgan

Called in for my daily fix. Can’t beat a good cup coffee. Nice place with good staff will definitely go back when in cowbridge

I have previously described this coffee shop as a hidden gem and I could not wait to return when I heard it was re-opening. Everything felt the same on walking in and the cakes on display looked equally inviting. I chose the carrot and walnut cake which certainly did not disappoint but I had to agree with my husband in that the coffee and walnut cake was on the dry side. The larger disappointment though was that the hot drinks were weak and very slow to be served. Serving coffees with the option of being single or double shot is fine but I did not notice any sign to this effect and I had assumed my cappuccino would be double shot as before. There is stiff competition in the area and therefore I really do hope that Basil's will take note of this comment and respond so that the next time I visit (and I will give it another try at some point) I can again sing its praises.

A warm, welcoming atmosphere; lovely,friendly staff and great food! We and our grandchildren are regular visitors!

Tucked away in the corner of an old fashioned hardware store is the last place you would expect to find a barista style coffee shop selling superb coffees, teas, hot chocolate, soft drinks, a large range of ice creams , breakfasts, cakes & snacks (jacket potatoes, baguettes etc.), bacon rolls and more, This really does provide excellent value for money too. Name any high street coffee chain where you can get two barista coffees and a slice of the cake of the day and get change from £6 !!!! The service too is first class. We shall return for sure.
