As a self confessed coffee snob, I like to think I know a good coffee when I taste one. I have to say, the Cortado at NINETYSIX was the best coffee I’ve had in a long long time, locally or anywhere for that matter. The atmosphere was relaxed and the table service, yes, table service; was prompt and polite. A comfortable and relaxing experience. PS - You must try the homemade carrot cake!!

The coffee itself was perfectly acceptable, but the way the drinks were served was very thoughtless. I have never seen tea served in a glass jug without even a lid, let alone a tea cosy, and I've never seen coffee served in a glass without a handle. I had to ask for an alternative, and the response was to pour it into a cup, which meant 2/3 of a cup in practice. The till is badly positioned right next to the gap where staff go in and out of the bar area, and when you queue there to pay, they expect you to get out of their way pronto. Despite this being a large place, there is only one Men's and one Ladies' toilet cubicle - inadequate for the potential number of customers.

I am really sorry to criticise this cafe as it has quite a few admirable features- i.e. location, the quality of coffee and the quality of pastries. However, after many visits where there have been some some grounds for complaint,I have ‘balanced’ the experience and tolerated minor omissions. Today’s visit has convinced me that the management either don’t care or are creating a ‘quirky’ attitude to service. We spent 15 minutes stuck in at the far end and had to leave due to time constraints, with not even an acknowledgement on leaving, despite 3 staff being available, a quiet cafe and no order taken. Not for the working man or faint hearted. Phillip Price

Two cups of tea, bbq chicken toasted sandwich and a ceaser salad sandwich. Good values and tasted excellent. Lovely decorated and pleasant surroundings. Really worth a try

I’ve been here a couple of times now and every time I’ve been warmly greeted and served great coffee. The cakes look delicious although I’ve never tried them. Hopefully next time!

I ordered a flat white and politely asked if I could have it in a cup and saucer rather than the glass without a handle . I have Raynards and struggle to hold a boiling hot glass of coffee . My request was perfunctory acknowledged . My coffee arrived in the handle less glass . I didn’t say anything but asked the Barista who made the coffee could I have one sugar please and the reply as he walked away was ....” we recommend you try it without “. I was thoroughly polite and courteous with the staff but I didn’t feel it in return . I like my coffee with half a sugar . It’s personal preference and I don’t expect the barista to challenge . This is not the first occasion where I have felt that the staff are not the friendliest and sadly I don’t think I will return after this visit .

I went with a friend and our two children. I love me coffee and think it is probably the best in cowbridge. We went at breakfast time so ordered doorstop toast all round - would go back for the toasties though which sounded delicious. Doesn't do fry up type breakfast if thats what you are after. Service was very friendly and despite being busy they didn't rush us out at all.

I’m surprised at the below reviews as my experience couldn’t have been any more opposite! It was busy, really friendly staff, relaxing environment and very clean. Coffee was incredible - I love independent coffee shops and this is a place I would highly recommend. Toasties - I will admit they took longer than expected, but not too long, especially as it’s not a rush in rush out kind of place! However when they arrived I realised they were cooked perfectly with proper meat and not your bog standard toasties! It’s not a restaurant- it is simply somewhere lovely to go to have a nice good quality coffee, and a bite to eat like a sandwich or cake. No complaints from me.

Coffee is great and coffee service is fine but food service has been very very slow on the last 3 times I’ve visited. Close to 40 minute wait for a toasted sandwich isn’t acceptable!!

Popped in this morning for coffee / tea. Relaxing atmosphere and nice coffee, so we would recommend. Will go back next time to try the food.

My friend and I visited this coffee shop one morning this week and we first went in for breakfast however we really wanted just a bacon sandwich and this coffee shop didn’t seem to do that, they did pastries and Panini’s but that was not what we were after so we did say sorry it’s not for us and we left. After a wander around Cowbridge town We headed back to the car and as we passed this place we thought we’d try again for a coffee. We went in and asked for a table, the guy cleaned a table for two for us but it was in the middle of the room which was really dark and gloomy, we asked if we could go and sit by the windows and were told they were tables for groups of four people only, some people were just getting up off some sofas and my friend and I like comfy chairs so we asked if we could sit on the sofa and again we were told no they were for four people only, this wouldn’t of bothered us if the place was actually busy but there was only a couple of other people in there, we could’ve had our coffee and left before all these anticipated groups of four descended on the place, the guy cleaning the table of two left it all wet and sticky with cleaning fluid and when I asked for some serviettes to dry the chairs off he just tutted at me. So we left. We felt more of an inconvenience than a customer and we won’t be returning I seem to have clicked that the food was terrible and can’t remove it, I would clarify that we didn’t eat anything so can’t actually comment on the food quality but based on the customer skills we won’t return to try the food

Called in for coffee today, went inside and spoke to the waitress to say we would sit outside and she confirmed she would be out to take our order in a few minutes. 15 minutes later we were still waiting for someone to come and take our order, in the end we gave up and left. Poor service, we will not be going back.

I have visited this establishment on a few occasions, and on each time the staff are just rather rude - almost as if you are being an inconvenience by being there. This is a real shame as it’s a really lovely venue and coffee is good but the attitude is a real turn off.

Wonderful welcome on a winter’s day. Quite a dark but spacious interior and lots of space to settle in. Coffee was very bitter and, despite loving coffee, not for me. Was this a case of me not knowing what was good... or an acquired taste...

I've been going to Ground for over a year, it's my local coffee shop. All of the produce is great and it's a real treat to eat in from the full menu. The service is always really friendly and I look forward to coming here for a weekly treat!

We had a lovely breakfast at this local pub this morning after searching for somewhere dog friendly, and it was fantastic! They had great options for both veggie and vegan breakfasts, all cooked beautifully. The food was hot, not greasy, and prepared with care. Prices were excellent, and the service was just as wonderful – friendly, happy, and welcoming. A perfect start to the day, and we’ll definitely be back

You would think the minimum requirement for running a cafe was the ability to speak to people politely. The couple were extremely rude. They completely ignored us waiting at their serving window. The woman spent 5 mins studiously stirring what looked like 2 cups of instant coffee. It's a shame as their attitude put a real downer on a beautiful place. This is repeated again and again in these reviews, and it's true. These people obviously need to retire, get a job they like, or get some serious customer service training. I would avoid if you want to enjoy your walk. Park somewhere else, walk there, and take a flask. For info..car park is £5.
