Tried getting a table at 3.15 on a Saturday. Bar area was full but the staff wouldn’t let us sit in the dining area with a bottle of wine, even though there were 6 or more empty tables and chance of filling at that time was slim to none. The guy at the bar also had a cocky attitude. Clearly they are not keen on increasing profits. Shareholders should note whilst I consider shorting the stock!

Was looking forward to eating here as part of our planned day at the museum. Given that the website says "dine under the magnificent roof of the Great Court," it was a surprise to find the roof obscured from view by a canvass sheet. The restaurant isn't enclosed so it's cold, as is the museum itself so had to sit with a jacket on, and there's a lot of noise from the hussle and bustle of the museum which does not give it the "refined dining experience" as promised. The food was well presented, but taste wise, it was no better than average.

The ambience is wonderful, very Indian chic. The food itself is mixed. The samosa filling was oddly powdery. The gold gappa (pani poori) had four pieces only, for six pounds(!). The dal makhani was delicious, the Chana masala was spicy and well cooked. Palak was just mushed palak, the Malabar chicken was ok. Naan perhaps use too much maida as the result was thick. Rice was well made. Service was good, we were able to call attention when needed.

Can’t believe I paid £19 for 2 baguettes. I asked for a baguette with just sausage as I disliked the options and as they are made fresh, didn’t think this would be a problem. Obviously turned up with everything I didn’t want in there and one sausage for a whole baguette. Could see from where I was sat someone washing up, just a quick rinse under the tap. Should have walked away when they didn’t accept card.
