Simply awful. I was frankly appalled at the experience we had at the mirror room on Sunday. The standard of food was terrible, it was all showmanship for very poor quality food. The deserts looked sensational but actually didn't taste very nice. The sandwiches were fine, as were the scones, but it was nowhere near quality to justify a cost of £80. One of our party had a gluten free meal. Their sandwiches were clearly prepared on cheap, dry, supermarket gluten free bread, with no allowances made to create equally interesting fillings. For example the main meal was a mini burger with coleslaw, the gluten free was just a couple of slices of meat in a dry white piece of bread - it's not hard to create a gluten free coleslaw.
The gluten free scones arrived frozen on top and hot at the bottom, so they were sent back. When they came back they were soggy, clearly heated in a bag in a microwave. The staff confirmed they were bought in (I'd wager from a supermarket) and heated in the microwave in a bag separately from other food. Good practice to treat separately, but at this price point there is no excuse for the food to be heated in a microwave and be soggy.
The members of our party eating the standard meal were also shocked at the poor quality of most of the food (whilst the scones were good the rest was not), and the fact the deserts, whilst looking stunning, were frankly horrible to eat. Nothing actually tasted nice.
£80 for supermarket bread and soggy scones, or perfunctory sandwiches and inedible deserts. Never again thanks.
We had lunch yesterday (Saturday) at The Shell. Our waitress Mery welcomed us and showed us to our table. She was very welcoming and friendly. Food came promptly and everything was delicious. We ordered the ribeye steak, the charcoal grilled octopus leg and the lobster linguine. The offers make this meal a very good value for money. We will definitely come back again.
Dirty plate with finger prints and hair , chicken was frozen inside they used microwave to heat it up it wasn't cooked, manager is very rude and aggressive he said you can leave the place
I don't recommend this restraunt ti anyone , waitress can't understand or speak English she just smiles

The hotel is fine, just massively overpriced. I paid £400/night and stayed in the tiniest room I've ever stayed in. On top of that I could hear the person in the room next to me snoring. Then on checkout they charge you an "optional" £15/night service fee as room cleaning gratuity. Just pay your staff a proper salary, rather than tacking on junk fees.
The cookies in the room on arrival was a nice touch.
We came here for the garden, though there is also a cafe at the entrance and a nice cafe with table service in the main house. FAR better value and better quality than National Trust places such as Sissinghurst.
The gardens are spectacular. Very large. Very neat and totally immaculate. Surrounded by spectacular Kent countryside as far as the eye can see. The Yew hedges are stunning. The walled garden is superb. The topiary is superb too. My wife is extremely keen on gardens and this is easily the most memorable one I have been to anywhere in the South East apart from it's equal Great Dixter. Both beat Sissinghurst (which is the tourist destination and frozen in time) hands down. They also don't have keep out signs everywhere - so you can go in the greenhouses and fully experience the place. In June the Delphinium display (national collection I believe) is fantastic.
Godinton is superb value. Highly recommended and great credit to the head gardener Viv Hunt.
Excellent pizza served by friendly and helpful staff
I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue to anyone
Once again another great visit with excellent service and excellent food
Gran escenario aquí. Me alegra haberlo encontrado.
