Above average cafe experience in London. Very good food, sauces, salt and pepper offered to twist their food to your taste. Paid a very reasonable £4-5 pounds for a breakfast roll that was very filling. Could've just split one of them with my partner. Was excited to return on the weekend of our stay, but sad to find out it's only open on weekdays, would've gone every morning otherwise. Highly recommend compared to the other options in the area.

Very good quality restaurant and really not very expensive. We ate there for several days as a family. Full English is delicious. We also tried (several times) the special chicken sandwich as well as the bagel and dishes. It's served hot, the staff is very friendly. I recommend it to you!

Very tasty food, very quick service and very nice place. Had such a great piece of lasagne with shrooms and onions crispy on top but soft inside, tons of flavour, yummy. Comfort food as it’s best. Past was great too, maybe on the more oily end of the range but I liked it a lot. Everything felt fresh and prepared same day. I used TGTG. Place is small but has nice atmosphere inside, it was quite busy even an hour before closing.

Cafe 49 has its pros and cons. I’d suggest avoiding the pasta - it’s far too oily and heavy, and it left me with a stomach ache. However, the option to build your own salad is a solid choice - reasonable, fresh, and customisable to your taste. Overall, worth a visit only if you’re on a rush and want a quick healthy salad on the go.

Excellent address. We arrived at 8 for an English breakfast. They were able to adapt to our requests with children. They have a room next door for groups. The classic English breakfast with variations for those who want. A popular and local place. I recommend it.

I found it while exploring the area around my hotel on my first day in England. I had the 49 Special Breakfast. It was delicious. It's small, but the staff are friendly and comfortable.

During my visit to London, I had breakfast at 49 Café, a charming place in the heart of Bloomsbury, located at 49 Marchmont St, London WC1N 1AP, United Kingdom. I was pleasantly surprised that Dayana, who served me, spoke in Spanish, which added a special touch to the experience. Their attention was a 10: fast, friendly and very professional. Breakfast consisted of a wrap, and the combination of price and quality was simply unbeatable. It was fresh, tasty and well prepared, something that is not easy to find for that price in London. I totally recommend 49 Café for its excellent service and the quality of its food. I will definitely return on my next visit to the city.

Excellent little cafe that we dropped into on our way from the British museum to the British Library. Nice independent cafe weather in excellent range of Italian cakes such as cannoli the we had a chocolate muffin the gluten-free lemon cupcake and a Portuguese tart, all delicious! The Parma ham sun-dried tomato mozzarella and rocket focaccia sandwich was excellent especially toasted!

We had a delightful breakfast at 49 Cafe. The limited seating might be a challenge during busy hours, but we managed to grab two spots by the window by arriving early. I enjoyed the scrambled eggs with sausage, while my wife had toasts and eggs, and we both savored the yogurt with berries. The Americano was just perfect to kickstart our day. Great, friendly service made the experience even better. Highly recommended for a cozy morning meal!

Excellent cafeteria at a more than correct price and quality food. The pasta with chicken, bacon and broccoli is unbeatable. They close early and there is practically no place to eat there, but as a take away, great. They serve different types of breakfast and lunch.

Cosy place and very friendly staff. On our second day they already knew what we had the day before. Seats at the window, so you can look onto the street. It was full when we came in the morning, but we could sit in the adjacent restaurant which was not open at that time.

This is a small shop with constant crowds, relatively reasonable prices, and good taste. The cheapest one is the 7-pound combination of bagel bag (including 2 ingredients of your choice) and coffee. I chose the English breakfast, which was generous. It seems that there are only ten seats in the store, but in fact, after ordering, the staff can take you to the dining area No. 51 next to it.

It's not worth going out of your way to eat. There is no atmosphere because there is a table structure where you eat against the wall. I had English breakfast and it was so-so. The sausage was dry and tough. If you order it with coffee, it's £12. Sandwiches look edible.

Simply the best pasta in London. Lived nearby in 2018 and we ate here almost every day. Just came back in 2024 for a visit and knew we had to come back to eat. It was just as we remembered it- And maybe even better! They now serve a full english breakfast which was excellent as well. Highly recommended!

Went here with my family on our very last day in London. And what a treat it was indeed! From the friendly to attentive staff to the Incredibly wonderful food, it was the perfect way to end our visit in London. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. Do yourself a favor and go next-door and get some of the most delicious ice cream you will ever have! Giuseppe, the owner next-door is incredibly friendly and warm.

I've been coming here for breakfast on my holidays in London for years. The prices are unbeatable, for example in the morning there is the breakfast deal (a bagel and coffee £7). The food is soooo good. I recommend the lavish sandwiches that make you smile as soon as you enter the store. The whole thing is rounded off by a super warm service that invites you to come back again and again.

I honestly don't want to complain, but sometimes, what can you do. First, to be clear, the cafe at least did try, and actually I think they use good, fresh ingredients. I ordered the chicken special sandwich: chicken, salad, cheese, avo, bacon. I deliberately told the server that I did not want my sandwich grilled - to which she replied, 'not grilled, that's fine'. I really don't want slimy warmed over lettuce and warm mayonnaise in a chicken salad sandwich. When the sandwich came out, it had very obviously been in the grill. I told the server and she called the chef who initially tried to say it hadn't been grilled but after he felt the sandwich, he explained that it was only 'warmed a little bit' and it would be ok. He explained they warmed all the sandwiches in the grill because the gread is frozen. Then he offered to remake my sandwich. I declined - frozen ciabatta or grilled chicken salad: it's not really any better. I took my sandwich and left. I appreciate that the staff tried but here's the thing: I asked at the outset, I was very explicit so they could have told me then that they had to grill the sandwich. They would have lost a sale, but they wouldn't have got this review.

Superb little find in the centre of London and close enough to King's Cross. Authentic food the pasta looked Incredible as did the icecream but we didn't have any of those as came for breakfast before the train home. Warm and welcoming we were seated next door as they seem to own both but we didn't mind as the other was just breakfast bar type seating. I ordered the 49 special and a full English with a cup of tea and a cold drink. They were even accommodating to substituting items on the full English. The food came within 10 mins of sitting down and was absolutely delicious the scrambled egg especially! The philly on toast with avocado also yummy! Highly recommended to walk away from the crowds to find hidden gems like 49 Cafe

My partner and I walked in the rain from King's Cross to eat here. We were trying to read the menu so we knew what to order when we got to the counter. We were also waiting for a spot to clear up so we could sit together while we ate. The staff kept shouting at us to come and order, but we weren't ready. I motioned to the servers that we were not ready and they kept shouting at us to come order. It was quite irritating trying to read the menu and make a decision while servers were telling at us- so we left. On our way out the man shouted at us, "go to Pret a Manger!" I have never been so insulted in my life. We wouldn't dream of ever eating at Pret a Manger and we couldn't believe the staff would promote the watered down overpriced freezer food at another restaurant- especially Pret a Manger. If the staff here wish to advertise for another chain, perhaps they should have better taste and choose something else. Honestly- how can we trust they think their own food is good enough to serve if they would direct people they think are tourists to Pret a Manger? Insidious.

We had the porridge and yoghurt with fruit for breakfast every day we were in London. This place is the best, great service at an excellent price. Plus the porridge is soooooo delicious. Thanks Cafe 49.

Hearty portions, delicious food and friendly service. Small place but fast turnover. When the place is full they seat them next door. The coffee is amazing too.
