Upon arrival surprised that the tables were sticky.In fact the menu itself actually stuck to tables which was quite off putting. Food quite frankly was underwhelming. Gazpacho soup was nice but calamari was very average. Pastry on the duck en croute was rather thick. Fish cakes lacked flavour and were greasy. We did not have desert. The restaurant was busy but overwhelmingly noisy which made conversation among company almost impossible

It was July again, and we had just flown the kids to the grandparents in Europe. How much they enjoy a real summer, a proper night of none sleep because of the heat or the mosquitoes and watching telly in a different language, we will never know. That's food for their shrink. So off we went, a petit group of mums and dads, to Ravel's Bistro that happens to be not far from our homes and I really wanted to try it, especially since I read in the Kentishtowner that Alister Campbell recommends it. When you have small kids, going to a restaurant without them feels like a real treat, like an experience in its own. I could just sit at the table and stare at my friends' eyes for hours. Just that. I shall explain better: drinking as much as you like, choosing your own dish and not having to eat the rests from the children's plate. No loo trips every ten minutes, no moderating arguments, no shameful sweat. Just looking / at your fellow / diners. Or the people that pass by the window or just the ceiling if you prefer. We didn't watch the time, we actually didn't have watches on. We were parents in their week of summer freedom, enjoying the darkness falling on the streets having a cozy dinner and not worrying having to pay a babysitter. My trout was tender and tasty, my partner's linguine al dente, I didn't have to share my frites with no-body and we definitely chose well the white because I didn't have a hungover the next day, but a great memory that my kids will probably understand at some point.

Delicious quality cuisine with friendly service

We were on a visit from USA to London to see family and have a holiday. We wanted somewhere special to celebrate our anniversary and we certainly found it here! The atmosphere, great food and friendly and efficient service fit the bill! Our 4 person party enjoyed duck, salmon, trout, asparagus soup, a zucchini flower appetizer and some super desserts, plus wine, teas and coffee. Some with us even had certain dietary requirements which was no problem. This is truly a somewhat hidden gem!

We had a most excellent meal here. Fresh ingredients and delicate flavours. House wine was also very good. We were very impressed overall and the prices are reasonable

We had a tasty, well cooked meal served with warmth and friendliness in the small, cosy bistro. Two of us the lamb, which was perfectly cooked with a rich, glossy sauce. Two of us had the sea bass which was just as good. Surprisingly good value and an enjoyable evening.

Visiting from New Zealand and took the family to this little gem. Service, atmosphere and especially the food were just outstanding. Wine selection also very good. From starter to main and through to desert the food was just excellent- full of flavour and cooked to perfection. In summary Bloody Awesome!

This was my fourth time at this beautiful restaurant and it did not disappoint! Everything from the starter to the main to the wine was just incredible! I got the goats cheese starter and the steak with chips and It was lovely. My partner has had the lamp chops a few times and he raves about them! If you are looking for hearty good quality food for an affordable price this is the place to go. Highly recommend. 5 stars.

I really wanted to love this place. Both dishes that I ordered were from the Specials, which was probably my mistake. Not sure if you know but the specials in restaurants consist of stuff they're trying to get rid of marketed as 'Specials'. That's a general rule of thumb. Anyway, both dishes that I fancied were from there. I got the deep fried brie. I had to dig out the cheese because the breading was quite bland and pointless. I would have loved it to be crispy and tasty but alas it wasn't. My main was a Beef Bourguignon, which was infuriating because the flavours were there but the beef was chewy instead of melting in the mouth. I really wish that I hadn't gone for two dishes from the Specials but hey that was my experience. The staff was lovely and the vibe was as if you are in a French bistro, so that was nice.

A friend and I had a decent dinner here in this small restaurant that mercifully does not blast music at you. We both had the trout fillet which was well cooked; the vegetables though were pretty tasteless.

This little Bistro has been going for years under different owners. We hadn’t been there for years but pass it frequently. It is a little local gem. The atmosphere is great, it reminds us of an old fashioned Bistro of the 1980’s. There is a main menu and a blackboard full of specials. The customers that go there seem to be very local and are extremely friendly as is the Maitre de who really does go the extra mile. The food is nicely presented and very well cooked with plenty of it. The wine ,it’s is excellent. We had a bottle of the house White the first time we came and the house Red and both times it was very good. In fact we ended up with two bottles of the Red as it was so good.

As of other review we have lived in the area for 30 years and have passed by many times but friends booked us all for dinner What a pleasant surprise, excellent bistro atmosphere with food to match the old favourite coq au vin was delicious You know it’s good when the French bread and salted butter provided spot on Faultless service

We went as an older persons exercise group for a twice yearly meal. Nobody wishes to go anywhere else. The food and ambience is always so good, nothing is too much trouble for them if anyone needs special requirements. The best kept secret in Hampstead

Back again and not disappointed - still a great (and underrated) place! I agree with other reviewers - the cheese souffle is brilliant and the venison superb. Deena loved the poussin and thought the gravy really made the dish!And Daniel is a great waiter.

Our second time to Ravel’s while staying close by during our vacation from the US. Last night’s dinner was just wonderful. Service is low-key and friendly. The decor is romantic. A real treat.

Lovely small intimate restaurant, fantastic service and tasty food

I had a really delicious meal here! The food was impeccably made from only the highest quality ingredients, so I was very impressed. They also have an extensive "specials" menu, to showcase the best seasonal cuisine. My beetroot and butternut squash wellington was succulent, with a moist and toothsome pastry which really elevated my expectations of what savoury vegetarian pastries can be. Even though it's a cute and cosy restaurant, I did feel a little bit crammed in. At one point, I stretched my arms out and nearly tripped a waitress behind me!

Incredibly lovely place, with great food, super friendly staff, all clean and professional and a great atmosphere! Perfect for a quiet dinner! We had the soup of the day, king prawns and salmon mousse as starters, oven baked salmon with ratatouille for main course and crepes for dessert. Everything was excellent! Compliments to the chef!

The food was well prepared, the wine list was good and you are definitely getting great value for your money. The ambiance is that of a cute family restaurant and everything feels homemade. A little jewel in Belsize Park, indeed!

Hubby and I decided to get dinner here as the ratings were super high. We were definitely not disappointed. Upon entering the restaurant, we were instantly greeted and seated by the waiter. His timing is impeccable. He seated us, handed us the menu, and gave us some time to look at the menu. He grabbed our drink order, and our drinks were served within 10 minutes. After that, he took our order, brought us bread, and the timing between the appetizer, mains, and dessert was perfect. The atmosphere of the restaurant was intimate and homey. The food was amazing and on point. Not to mention, the price relative to the quality of the food was very good. We ordered the seafood soup to share, the bake salmon, the duck breast, and we shared the apple and plum dessert. The seafood soup was a large enough portion to share between the two of us, and there were ample amounts of seafood (salmon, mussels, shrimps) that were perfectly cooked and super tender. The bake salmon was perfectly cooked, super tender, and not overdone at all. The duck breast was a perfect medium rare, as I had requested. Both hubby and I were very happy with our meal. And, after ordering two glasses of wine, an appetizer to share, two mains, a side of creamy potatoes, a dessert to share, and a dessert wine, our bill amounted to 80 pounds. We've definitely paid more at other places and we're not as satisfied and happy with our meals Overall, the service was excellent, the food was excellent, and I'd definitely recommend trying this place out. In fact, hubby and I will be back to try more things on this menu. I think we've finally found our neighborhood gem. We definitely say this is among the top restaurant meals we've had in London!

We have lived in the area for 23 years and have walked past Ravel's Bistro hundreds of times without really noticing it. Tonight we gave it a try and were pleasantly surprised. Relaxed and intimate atmosphere, a nicely varied menu and food beautifully cooked and presented. We will be back!

Excellent and varied menu with great quality food and super service by Daniel. This was a spontaneous decision to go there. Not at all disappointed. Would highly recommend the cosy atmosphere and charm.

Had a fantastic experience at Ravel’s for Mother’s Day. We love the restaurant but it was the first time we tried the Sunday roast and it was sublime. However the standout was the the cheese soufflé starter which is better than the famous one in the ivy club (and I’ve tried both). Incredibly good value and wonderful service! Our favourite place in London.

First time back since pre lockdown. Prices gone up but food always excellent and plentiful. Always amazing how chef prepares so many covers so well from such a small kitchen on his own. My parents were celebrating their 62 wedding anniversary and loved it. Small issue was cold draft blowing on me throughout meal.

Consistently amazing French comfort food, quaint ambiance and hidden local gem. The menu is very expansive which makes it hard to decide but we have always been happy regardless.

Excellent in all senses. Great traditional menú with good variety of fish and meat. I would recommend the sea bass and the rack of lamb (both delicious). Both starters and mains are very well cooked, good portions and reasonable price. Good selection of French and Italian wines and amazing service! I have been here 5 times and I like everything about this place. Well done!

Been coming for many years but the food, surprisingly, has improved. Some of the old favourites have gone from the menu, though I think I spotted duck en croute, but the cooking is spot on and the side vegetables are beautifully al dente. We had the filet steak which was a thing of wonder... A really good and attentive waitress as well, and overall a friendly and welcoming vibe,

Service excellent but food is very average and overpriced. Fine if you want average bistro food but I wouldn't return.

Super tasty home cooked food. We called by on the off chance and had a warm welcome. So glad we found this place. The duck encroute was very delicious, the Sunday lunch looked good too. Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for delicious home cooked food.

Another wonderful meal at Ravel’s - we keep returning and it never disappoints. Very friendly and warm service, exceptional food and very reasonable prices. I love the specials - I had a wonderful seafood soup followed by a huge fresh filet of plaice. They even catered to my father’s needs - who is disabled - without even being asked. Really recommended, we’ll be back soon!

So good to be back after the easing of the lockdown. Sadly Nishla has retired and a great Server will be missed. Tables are well spaced and we felt very comfortable in the room. This has always been one of our favourite restaurants and we were not disappointed at all. The salmon mousse and avocado was delicious and my fish cakes were so light and tasty it was fantastic. I asked for chips without salt and great thick cut fries were served piping hot. My wife and friends all had great meals and we wish the team great success. We will be back.

Great local bistro serving excellent food.

We had a delicious coq au vin takeaway this evening. It reminded us how we loved going to the restaurant before the lockdowns started. Obviously it is not the same as being there, sitting next to other nice people, and being served in person, but it is the next best thing at the moment. I want to go back regularly and help keep them in business.

I’ve never given 5 stars to anything before. But after 12 years of visiting this lovely little restaurant, sometimes more than once a week, I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad meal or experience here.

We visit Ravels with friends every time we are in Hampstead and we love its friendly service, fabulous food and wonderful atmosphere. if i could pick anywhere to be teleported to during lockdown Ravels would bev in my top 5 choices. Cant wait to be back again.

Wonderful food and amazing service

We got takeout from Ravel's tonight for a break from our usual lockdown meals. Ordering and pickup was fast, easy and safe. Meal was absolutely delicious! (especially the pan-seared duck - wow!). We'll be ordering from them weekly during these weird times. Highly recommended!

With all restaurants having to close in London we were really pleased to see that Ravels were offering Sunday roast takeaway today. We often eat here and the food is excellent. We went in to order a takeaway and they are now going to offer a takeaway menu every evening. You just need to phone them to book. The roast was lovely by the way and I’m sure we’ll be picking up takeaways in the coming week.

We are regulars at Ravel's and enjoy both the delicious home cooked food and the warm inviting atmosphere of the place. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and the menu options are varied and reasonably priced. From Mother's Day 22nd March 2020, the Chef's will only be providing take away food - we've had takeaway's before from Ravel's and the food has always been consistently excellent! Probably best to book your food by phone in advance as this Bistro is very popular.

It was a Saturday evening, and the restaurant was heaving, but the staff, my favourite waitresse and the chefs coped amazingly well, serving delicious, well presented food. We are a group of older people belonging to a local exercise group who do not really like going out at night. This wonderful restaurant opened especially for us. This is our second time. The food, ambience, friendliness and service was superb. There were 20 of us and not one complaint. We shall definitely go back again

Look no further this food has it all. A constantly changing menu of delicious food and served with a smile. It punches way above its weight and looks and tastes wonderful Try it you will not be disappointed

This is a little gem tucked away from the main high street. I cannot recommend this bistro enough. From Sunday breakfast, Sunday roast and every day dinner. The food is delicious and beautifully served using the finest ingredients. You must try it, you definitely won't be disappointed.

Llegamos para una cena inusualmente temprana, temprano porque pensamos que aprovecharíamos el descuento disponible si ordenamos antes del 7. Ser advertido No dejan claro que no se aplica a la junta de especiales. Cuando llegó la cuenta, adivina qué! No feliz. Habiendo dicho eso, la comida era buena y teníamos una mesa agradable y acogedora. Pero cuando planteé el asunto, no estaban interesados, aparentemente nuestra culpa. De Verdad? Actitud complaciente.

Ganz wundervoll eingerichtetes Bistro, sehr gemütlich und familiär anmutend. Zeichnet sich durch hervorragende englische Küche aus. Meine Lammwürste mit Minze, Kartoffelbrei und knackigem Gemüse waren hervorragend. Die Vorspeise, mit Paprika und Knoblauch panierte Calamari waren ebenso sehr gut. Auch den Sticky Toffee Pudding kann ich wärmstens empfehlen. Eine sehr freundliche Gastgeberin hat uns jeden Wunsch erfüllt. Es gibt ein Sonderangebot werktags bis 19 Uhr und sonntags bis 17 Uhr, bei dem es 2 bzw. 3 Gänge a la carte zu einem sehr günstigen Preis gibt. Wir können das Restaurant guten Gewissens weiterempfehlen.
