Don't go here unless you want to be bullied! Stepped into this shop today, as it looked very cute, and found a nook that had American ingredients. I snapped a photo to send to a friend who had been looking for some of these ingredients and was immediately berated by a man working behind the butcher counter. He yelled at me, scolded me for taking a photo, and then continued to speak to me, behaving incredible rudely -- making me incredibly uncomfortable. I have no idea what the problem was and have never had this happen to me anywhere else in my life... DO NOT recommend supporting this business AT ALL, much friendlier, kinder options nearby that do not harass their clients.

Bought the pork sausages but surprised to see the ingredients contains cochineal. Cochineal: The scarlet dye used for colouring food, made from THE CRUSHED DRIED BODIES OF A FEMALE SCALE INSECT! I cannot believe this sort of ingredient is in their produce.

Rude staff. Didn’t bother to tell price just showed on a screen without saying hello or thank you - terrible!

I have been a customer since it opened and over the years, the service has become increasingly rushed and rude. High prices should mean high quality produce and service. Today, the service was appalling and meat poorly prepared

The West Hampstead branch - I used to love this place and has been going there for years. Good quality meat. I would like to warn you of my recent visit. It used to be a stamp for every £40 spent and 10 stamps would get you a piece of steak and a bottle of wine. They changed the rules to reward a maximum 2 stamps per visit. We did not know that. We bought over £100 and thought to top up with more meat to make it 3 stamps. We were then only given 2 stamps although the server knew full well that we were going for 3 stamps. When we asked why we weren’t told of rules. He replied: “ I didn’t need to tell you nothing !” So rude and such a shame.. we won’t go back!

Do not shop online- worst service ever! They delivered the wrong product and would not refund/give you the right to change it.

very bad service from a staff member , manager and a the owner, I felt I was politely called a liar when I asked them to stamp my loyalty card with previously purchase receipt and forgotten to stamp by their cashier. I was told that they never make mistake repeatedly, when I remember that I used to like and shop in their West Hampstead branch, I decided to let the manager and the owner by an e mail explaining the detail of the situation instead of writing a bad review, I do not normally like to write bad reviews, I believe we all make mistake and it is important how we are dealt with the problem we present and I prefer the positive ones unless I can not resolve the problem directly with the manager or the owner. big disappointment, not even an acknowledgement,

Very shocked by the fact that despite being as usual quite rude, the two butchers serving clients in the shop had their masks under their chin and not on their mouthes and noses. We are in our 3rd lockdown this is unacceptable for a business to let their employees be so careless.

Dear customers, the shops themselves are fantastic and the staff extremely friendly but do not shop online. I ordered today and it did not charge me for postage and I spent £65. Then I got a phone call for a delivery charge of £10. Their website should be better written as it was very unclear. They should tell you this at the check out and not a phone call. I will not be shopping here in future as I have spent a lot of money here in the past sometimes three or four times a week. Very disappointing.

It's great to have this in the neighbourhood. The quality and choice of meats is excellent and everything else is also first class. Best bagels around here for sure. Have to find out where thay are getting it from.

As per other recent reviews, the service I received was inadequate and disappointing. In addition, quality of the product was not to standard either and I will not be wasting my money again. I will be spending my money at their competitors in future, who have in my view, overtaken this butcher in both service and quality.

Should be zero stars. Purchased a voucher online and misplaced the paper voucher. Refusing to let me redeem the voucher despite acknowledging I had purchased the voucher, had the unique order number and payment ID. I'm sure the products are fantastic, unfortunately management are not.

Oh dear. Gosh.. this company has got so many things right; It has managed to convince people with its locations, furnishings and branding that the quality is high enough that they should pay double what they would pay in a regular butcher. The quality of the meat is actually pretty good. They make a big deal out of ageing their beef but of course that is just standard for any butcher worth its salt. Fair enough though; another branding exercise can be forgiven. Their shelves are also stocked with quite a few interesting deli-like items. There are fancy pestos and special sausages and having bought a few of them over the years, they're generally pretty good, if extortionately priced. The overriding point is that of course this is a clever business model and they're getting things right if they want to milk such a high margin from people. Unfortunately, this is all paper-thin :( Every time I have gone into one of these shops, I have left with the feeling that the butchers themselves have some peculiar disdain for their clientele, as you will gather from other reviews here and on google. I'm not sure where this comes from or why this attitude is fostered by the owners. Yes, we all know that we are having our limbs ripped from our bodies in terms of pricing but we deal with that because we can buy decent quality meat on smart and cherished high streets. Obviously Hampstead Butchers thrive on willing, wealthy customers who are OK with paying eye-bleedingly top prices for hunks of meat. I don't ostensibly take issue with that. They don't hide it - after all, things are advertised as 'outrageous amount per kilo' - but why do the butchers hate the customers? They can hardly be bothered to make eye contact. If you say something is expensive, they look at you as if you've just insulted them. A couple of humbly sized steaks and a bottle of wine will set you back £60 by the way. Anyway, so I suppose this behaviour is tolerable and might get a 3 star review but oh my god... my brother in law bought me a voucher for the place. Just a £25 voucher. However, because he sent me a screen shot of the voucher order instead of the piece of paper that was posted to him, the company refused to honour it. As if that wasn't insulting enough, the owner of the company himself, Philip Matthews, basically told us to get lost when we explained the situation and tried to have a new voucher issued. He insulting my brother in law and near enough accused us of trying to commit fraud. I'm afraid to say (and it's sad because this is so close to being a lovely business) that they are stuck in the stone age. They are temperamental and childish as a business and frankly if they're going to charge the space-high prices that they do for meat they need to revise that dreadful attitude.

I have lived in the area and shopped at the Hampstead Butcher for years. When I first used to go there, I was overwhelmed by how amazing everything was - the food and the service. Over time, and specifically more recently, both have gone downhill. As most other reviews have said, the number of times I've asked for an expensive cut of meat only for the butcher to try and flog me the old end that hasn't sold. On the occasions I've asked for a fresh piece, it's been met with a disgruntled reaction from the butchers, clearly annoyed at having to go downstairs and open a new piece - when you're spending £50 on meat, should it really be this much of a chore? I don't know what's happened in the last year but they all seem so miserable and almost resent having to serve customers - I would love to know what's happened because this didn't used to be the case. The staff on the checkout have always been sour faced and unfriendly, this hasn't improved. I now prefer to shop in Barretts in Belsize Park or the Primrose Hill Butchers - both are 'less frills' than the Hampstead Butcher but at least you get friendly staff who go out of their way to help you. And the produce at both is wonderful. I feel disappointed writing this review as I used to love this place but hopefully the feedback will allow them to turn it around before they lose more customers.

Living close to this butcher it is more than just convinient. the selection of food, more than just meat, is excellent, the staff are helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Prices are competitive and worth it for the quality of goods.

Estaba realmente emocionado cuando descubrí el carnicero y estaba ansioso por apoyarlo. La primera vez que me vendieron paté. Ya había pasado su fecha de vencimiento, pensé "ok, probablemente un error honesto y único".Poco después regresé a casa para encontrar pollo que olía tan mal que tenía que ir directamente a la papelera. Pensé que podría ser mala suerte, pero hoy volvió a suceder. La carne vieja en mal estado que solo descubrí estaba apagada una vez que estaba en casa, dejándome a mí y a mi familia sin cenar para mi familia. Tenemos niños pequeños y nos complace pagar un poco más por la carne de calidad, pero en lugar de eso corre el riesgo de enfermarnos a todos / ¡algo está pasando aquí, me temo!

Demasiadas veces ahora (últimamente, no siempre) he venido a casa a desenvolver la carne que obviamente ha estado sentada al aire libre durante demasiado tiempo. Pechugas de pollo (orgánicas) como el cuero y tan difíciles de cortar incluso cuando están crudas. Hoy, paletilla de cerdo. La misma historia: seca y correosa en los 2 cms superiores de carne. Muy decepcionante dada la importante prima que cobran. He cambiado de carnicero ahora. En otros aspectos, el Deli es muy bueno y tiene una gran directora que es muy profesional y encantadora.

Tienda atractiva con algunos buenos productos pero que necesita algo de inversión en su gente. El "mostrador de carne" aspira a ser un carnicero, pero ninguna de las personas que trabajan allí puede cortar carne o mantener una conversación sobre sus productos. Con la notable excepción de una dama encantadora y conocedora que a menudo trabaja en el mostrador de quesos, las otras "asistentes" muestran la indiferencia estudiada de las personas que soportan un trabajo hasta que aparece algo mejor.

First bad experience was they cannot cure the cheese properly. Second bad experience today their online ordering system doesn't work: the butcher told me not his problem.

Visited today, a beautiful store with fantastic staff, was served by a very helpful and kind lady at the cheese counter, nothing was too much trouble. Will be back soon!

More than an excellent butchers shop this shop has pies, cheeses and all sorts of gourmet extras. The homemade meat pies were excellent.

Davvero una perla nel quartiere! Macelleria e gastronomia di alta qualità: un'incredibile scelta di carni freschissime e tagli pregiati e frollati.... e poi una ricca gamma di formaggi e salumi. Qualche buona bottiglia di vino, prodotti di gastronomia internazionali di alto livello. Prezzi assolutamente giusti per i prodotti offerti! Super!

The leg of lamb I purchased just melted in your mouth with lots of flavour. We have also purchased steak which was very tender. Well worth the money spent.

We stopped by many times during our time in Hampstead. The bread and cheese are very good. The staff is wonderful.

Der Hampstead Butcher & Providore ist ein Feinkost-Metzger, der sowohl vom Innen- las auch Außenbereich sehr liebevoll gestaltet ist. Die Qualität des Metzgers an sich kann ich nicht bewerten, da wir dort noch nie gekauft haben, sind aber auf den Laden aufmerksam geworden, als sich quasi jeder vorbeigehende Passant einen der tollen Hot Dogs kaufte, welche vor dem Eingang des Ladens auf der Straße verkauft werden. Um den kleinen Hunger zu tilgen und sowieso neugierig vom Andrang habe auch ich mir einen der 4-Pfund Hot Dogs gegönnt und mehr als zufrieden mit meiner Wahl. Überragender, in Baguette eingehüllter Hot Dog, den man sich auf keinen Fall entgehen lassen sollte!

Such a nice place to buy upmarket meat and provisions. Not the cheapest, but the produce is excellent. I like the fact you feel you are dealing with real butchers rather than meat counter apprentices. A bit nostalgic and comforting. An otherwise overwhelming selection (for the likes of me) is made accessible.Cheeses, dips, veg, sauces et al... always tempting and never disappoint. Congrats to whoever put this place together. It works.

Just fantastic, staff, produce, selection, decor; perfect in all facets. My favourite thing about being a local. The bbq pack for sale in the summer is incredibly good and amazing value.

The shop looks amazing from the outside and inside does not disappoint. You can easily spend and spend in this shop. Everything is of an excellent quality.

The Hampstead Butcher and Providore combine knowledge, service and quality perfectly. The selection is presented beautifully and the food tastes great. I would happily stroll around this shop every weekend. Picnic items in the summer are great and the wine and cheese section rounds things off brilliantly. The butchers are knowledgable so don't be afraid to ask for advice! They are always very accommodating. I wouldn't buy my meat from anywhere else.

What a great way to spend a couple of hours. If you're in the least bit foodie you'll love this. The butchers bench is set up in the middle of this beautiful shop and within minutes Freddy has you cutting and boning like a professional. He's full of enthusiasm and fasinating facts and you won't believe how much meat you get to take home (and wine too). I took my friend as a birthday treat, we had a super time.

Living 30 seconds from a butcher has always been a dream of mine. So when this place opened a few years ago I was disappointed to find it was way too expensive. There were too many cuts of meat that were just over priced and not reflected by its quality. Recently though it has become far more reasonable and varied. It's no Ginger Pig but definitely an improved establishment and open late too.

We've been buying our meat, wine and other delights for years at Hampstead butcher. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and will provide advice on how to cook products the best way, if asked. The selection of products is great and upmarket with items that are difficult to find elsewhere. The charcuterie selection could be better, but what they have is always fresh and nice. Worth visiting again and again

Discovered this little gem and bought 3 different types of sausages. They were delicious! Highly recommend this boutique butcher & all their wonderful products.

I strolled past here on a Sunday afternoon, there was a man outside cooking big sausages from this butchers, I later noticed he was selling them as hotdogs in a bun with fried onions on top. Also huge homemade rustic looking sausages rolls. I was gutted I'd just eaten a mediocre lunch elsewhere as had I known, I would have bought a hotdog AND a sausage roll from here! Being a right foodie I was quite sad I was too full to buy any of these items. The meat selection is amazing and better than any butcher I've seen in London, even Selfridges. It's all very well trimmed and cleanly presented, the cabinets are really clean which is very important obviously! They had a very wide selection from lamb shanks (which are really rare to see in butchers without having to pre-order them), various game, poussin, even rabbit and their sausage selection is brilliant. It is definitely worth making the trip here for brilliant quality meat, to take away in a nice little bag. I bought 4 big sausages at £3 something, very reasonable for the quality. They had pre-marinated chicken with veg for stir frys which you can get in plastic boxes and then fry at home, which is such a good idea. The butchers themselves are very helpful, we asked one man if the sausages were gluten free as someone in our family has coeliac disease, unfortunately they are not but he advised us should we went gluten free sausages in the future, we should give him 2-3 days notice and he will order them in not a problem! This is great customer service.The whole shop is great, it has a brilliant selection of lovely eggs from various farms, nice bagels/bread, an American section, a great cheese section at the back. What more could you want?!

On High Street, an amazingly beautiful shop/ delicatessen selling the tastiest sausage roll you may ever try!!!We were blown away by its taste. Everything is home made.

I yearn for the years gone by (even at the tender age of 44) of service like this. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff here. Nicely helpful with advice on accompaniments and wine to support you choices. Give it a try.

Raggiungere a piedi Hamstead Heath porta un certo languorino. Ci siamo affidati a questa chiccosissima grastronomia che ha preso il posto della famosa Rosslyn Delicatessen. Ideale per l'acquisto delle materie prime per un gustoso pic-nic nel vicino parco, si è rivelata un'ottima soluzione per un pranzo al volo.Deliziosi gli hot dog cucinati direttamente in strada con la salsiccia da loro prodotta. Non ho idea di che carne si trattasse ma era veramente gustosa e molto leggera!
