Well kept Shepherds Neame beers and a fish finger sandwich which could have fed a family of four! A favourite to drop in to when I'm spending time in the British museum. A much better pub than the tourist trap that is the Museum Tavern.

I do not recommend this place at all. A very drunk woman next to us started bothering us, and the staff’s response was not just non-existent but downright dismissive. They failed to take our concerns seriously, and in the end, we were forced to leave.

Really good food (we took the fish and chips) and beer. The place is really beautiful and the staff and owner very kind. I highly recommend this place!

excellent address, good atmosphere!

The owner of this pub replied to my previous comment with 'unfortunately we can't serve intoxicated customers' without knowing what had happened at their establishment. Normally, I wouldn’t bother with things like this, but I have no choice in the face of such unprofessional behaviour. Five of us were drinking at the pub, spending close to £150 on beer, whisky, and wine. Later, three of our friends left, and the remaining two of us had another beer each. During this time, there was someone next to us who had come in from outside, clearly drunk and poorly dressed, engaging excessively with those around them. After a while, we noticed that our bag, which was on the floor, had been completely opened and rummaged through. As a result, we kept checking the bag and were in shock. The person had left, and since the bag likely only contained clothes, it probably didn’t interest them. While we were still trying to process this and figure out if anything had been stolen, a staff member approached us and told us that we’d been sitting for some time and needed to order something. We were stunned to be asked this while still reeling from what had just happened and showed them the transactions on my card. I’m updating my review: it wasn’t the staff who were disrespectful, but the owner of this place. Instead of insulting customers by calling them 'intoxicated', perhaps they should focus on ensuring their customers’ belongings aren’t stolen

They took away our stool. They said members of our family should stay stood up. Ridiculous rude staff members.

We got our chair taken away by staff member because apparently we were not allowed to have an extra chair

The male member of staff is great, and the pub itself is good. I was just disappointed about the kitchen closing at 6pm on a Sunday. I've never heard of such a thing.

Very aesthetically pleasing tavern with the vintage looks, wooden bars and tables, and a great bartender. I highly recommend this place

Nice enough but enough hooks for coats (especially when it's a wet and windy day!) 🙄 Chairs were uncomfortable, very narrow.

Traditional pub on the edge of the London west end. Good selection of beers and wines. Great atmosphere.

Cute and convenient spot for a pint after visiting the British Museum! Although I’d recommend Americans go elsewhere, as one of the bartenders complained to another how he was sick of Americans right after we ordered and sat down. I understand Americans aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it was uncomfortable to hear them complain about us directly in front of us

My sister and brother in law found this place while we were exploring London and I am glad they did. The tavern looks great. The bartender offered great customer service. It was fun to be there during a football (soccer) match that clearly engaged the customers.

A great bar located in the heart of the west end. It’s beautifully decorated inside and is an old worldly pub. It’s a great place to go for a drink and bite before a show starts. We ate before attending the theatre and the service was quick and the food was good quality. Would recommend.

I stumbled across this gem of a pub by accident and am so very glad that I did! The bar staff were so friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about real Ales and heritage pubs. I had a well-kept, well served pint of real ale from their selection, and sat outside in a great position for people watching!

Very nice bar (Pub) almost 200 years old, good food and beers too, it's like traveling to the past, the people who serve are very friendly, but obviously you have to order something to eat, I highly recommend it...

En el Reino Unido las leyes de licencias permiten un tiempo de bebida de 20 minutos desde el último servicio. Esta gente te da 10 minutos y un vaso de plástico. Pero aún así te diré que salgas del local antes de eso. Feliz de servirte hasta el último minuto, pero no trates de beber tu bebida. El centro de Londres cerró. El personal tampoco es muy agradable. Evita a la gente que no lo vale.

A nice pub situated between the British Museum and Covent Garden (under a 10 minute walk). They only had 2 cask ales and I chose The Spitfire ale, very tasty. The bar area is not large but there is additional seating upstairs and ample seating outside. Despite the wood panelling the bar area is very due to the magnificent arched stained glass windows. The service was excellent and the staff friendly. As with many old pubs the gents toilets are in the basement (ladies upstairs), these are accessed by a steep staircase. In summary a nice pub to visit.

Typical English pub with good airconditioning. Comfortable chairs. Nice drinks available. Nice place to sit, relax, drink a bier, eat something after a long siteseeing walk.

A good quality London boozer - not stupidly expensive with a v good range of Shepherd Neame beers, including their excellent bottled IPA. Wine reported to reasonable for a pub - not the revolting 'Stowells of Chelsea from a tap linked to the waste water plumbing'.

It is old, it is authenitc, the food is great (for english standards, be prepared to season ) and they know it. Everything was OK. No cider on tap.

Pusimos nuestras órdenes en el bar de la planta baja. Cuando llegó la - no muy buena comida - pedí al servidor una jarra de agua. Ella ni siquiera se detuvo mientras se alejaba, pero me lanzó un comentario sobre su sostenedor que yo, si quería agua, podía bajar al bar y traerla yo mismo. El pub no estaba ocupado, el personal del bar se ocupó de tener una charla.

I only got one drink here but it was welcoming, there was room to sit, and the game was on tv! The cider I got was tasty too and I didn't have to wait long at all for it.

The entire staff seemed to be definitely high and refused to cook half of what was on their menu.

This place was GREAT! Large potions, VERY tasty food, friendly workers, and great atmosphere. If I lived here, this would be a regular hangout.

A super cosy Tudor-esque pub with the most inviting of atmospheres. The drinks and food are great as well as the location. The staff are some of the most lovely and accommodating people I've ever met and I will undoubtedly be returning.

We enjoyed our a pie and a beer here for our lunch during a quick stopover in London. Feels local, friendly and has an English Pub character. Food was reasonably good, the beer was enjoyable and the prices were probably representative of the area. Great place to try.

Cozy pub, a stone's throw from the British Museum, ideal for having a pint....very pleasant...with that special charm that characterizes them.

Popped in for a drink. Lovely quaint traditional pub. Beer poured to perfection. Good old Shepherd Neame. Limited menu but please don't let that put you off. It's a really old small traditional pub. Great friendly polite staff. Because it's old the stairs for gents toilet downstairs are steep and tight. So not suitable for people with limited mobility. Definitely worth a visit

An old style pub with fairly expensive prices due to its locality. I like the atmosphere, don't particularly enjoy the introduction of the American tip system, although, to be fair, I was advised.

I only had a chance to have a quick half pint in the Bloomsbury Tavern on Christmas Eve but it was more than enough to sign me up for a proper visit the next time I’m in London. A pub we just stopped by on our way and ended up spending two hours, loved the cosiness and the homely feeling.

Coming back from the British Museum took a gamble on choosing this for our much needed repast come mid-afternoon. And found ourself with a winner, the meal was surprisingly swift in being served despite being tailored to our preferences too. The wife thoroughly enjoying her huge haddock portion, and I likewise my most excellent 'naked' burger. Tasted as just cooked, rather than having lingered under a hot lamp. Service and the staff excellent, keeping the area commendaby clean. This was pub lunch at it's finest.

雰囲気の良い典型的な英国のパブです。ビールのパイントグラスへの入れ方がうまく美味しいビールが楽しめます。なお、料理も美味しく量も多いです。また店主も気さくで、日本語ができない方にも携帯でなんとか話そうとしてくれます。英語ができるとさらに楽しく会話できます。非常に気持ちの良いロンドンなまりなので声を録音しておきたいくらいでした。ロンドンに行った際には是非訪れてみてください。 大英博物館の帰りに寄ってちょっと一杯という楽しみ方も良いと思います。

Very nice pub with tasty food and cold beer. Atmosphere itself very local. People are nice and friendly! Very good place to have a rest with cold beer and some food. Will come back next time.

Perfect post-British Museum stop. Seasonal ales, quick and a super friendly and dedicated young crew. Standard (and good) pub grub with fresh seasonal sides. I had the meat pie with an awesome red cabbage side! No crowds despite the vicinity of the British Museum. Prices are OK.

Quintessential London pub, great food and great pints. There clearly a reason Bloomsbury has such a storied history. Will definitely be back soon for delicious Haddock and Chips, or their great burger.
