Good pub, friendly staff. Could have had some more cask ales, but all in all good.

We only popped in for a couple of pinta at an off hour but enjoyed the selection and traditional ambiance

The scampi was so soggy the batter literally fell off, came with about 8 chips. Mac and cheese looked liked mashed potato, tasted of nothing. Pretty awful tasting food but service was good.

Came across this little gem the other day , was seated very quickly at a nice clean table , ordered and even though they were quite busy only took about 20 mins for the food to be done

Quality food and kind service. Looks like a place for locals who come back often and regularly. Organized staff and kitchen because food was ready quickly and served warm!

Bar manager was top notch perfect mix of great customer service not not taking no flak, food was awesome bartender was great and recommended an awesome IPA beer. Food was good portioned and tasted great. First restaurant in London so started off with fish and chips and a Guinness

Here for post-work drinks on many an evening. Lovely little space with good Guinness and two big TV’s for football. Reasonable pint price for central, some outside seating What makes it a great pub? The staff, who are super friendly and welcoming, it feels like a family. Not too many places like this in central London I don’t often get the food but a couple of times have opted for their vegan Beyond Burger. I will say that I’ve been to a lot of chain pubs doing an obligatory, bland veggie/vegan option but that’s not what you get at the Plough, the burger was mind-blowing. Seems friendly to tourists, who are often there, but most evenings it’s full of people working around the area who are stopping off for one (alright then, a couple) I’d recommend it to anyone to be honest - if you’re thinking of going to a ‘Spoons nearby because you think it’ll be cheaper - I’d say check it out and you might be surprised

Jack was an excellent host, barman and full legend. Always brings the energy to the crowds, keeps everyone engaged and enjoying themselves.

Cuisine: a lot of things are frozen (fries) or poorly prepared (flake mousseline puree, hard steamed peas without seasoning), very very fatty meat in the pie. We had hints of sauce all afternoon. Service: friendly and pleasant like in a bistro, nothing to complain about Atmosphere: the boss curses out loud as if she were yelling at a customer. No explanation but not friendly, efforts to be made when you are among customers to avoid the room turning upside down Strong smell of stagnant urine in the toilets, I couldn't find a way to flush the urinals, which must explain that as customers pass through, urine accumulates For a bill of almost £40 for two (dishes and drinks), the 4 star rating is very overrated for this establishment. The price does not at all match the quality. And as is the tradition in this country, automatic service charges which are not at all justified by the table service.

Nice pub after visiting the British Museum. Feels more like a local than a central London pub. Staff are exceptionally nice. Only had somecs2eet potatoe chips yo help the cider go down but all very nice. I recommend it.

However, once we went to The Plough, we ended up coming back multiple more times that same week! Our first experience included their steak and their mac and cheese both of which were _really_ fantastic. With a good selection of good beer, quick service, and AC, we really enjoyed our experience. Coming back a couple more times, we enjoyed a lot of their sandwiches (only available before 7pm!) and their scampi as well. One thing I was surprised about is that even though there were a lot of people outside (the weather has been nice), we were always able to find a table inside and never had to wait more than a person or two before we put in our order at the bar. So while this review is more about the dinner experience, The Plough seems like a great place to just get a pint too. Strongly recommended!

Service slow, foot bad, they charge more that's what's on the menu. Waitress rude.

Sam on bar was really friendly and helpful; he helped me decide which beer to go for and it was an excellent choice!

A truly lovely pub, great atmosphere, and great beer choices. My family and I visited The Plough after visiting the British Museum and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was served multiple times by Sam, a very kind and helpful gentleman giving me great tips of where to visit whilst I was in London. He sure can pour a great Guinness too!

Came in for a Sunday roast with my friend and I can tell you I was not disappointed. The food was prepared amazingly and the service could not have been better. The prices what you expect for central London and would defo recommend and will be back soon for sure.

The pub was pretty busy but seem to only have one member of staff serving. Once you got your drinks both the inside and outside space are great.

We had a wine and a beer and sat at an outdoor table. The interior was so beautiful and clean . Run by the Greene King group Great people watching sitting by Museum Street. They helped us with an Uber app problem. Beautiful afternoon for us.

Obscenely expensive. 2 v average fish n chips and 2 pints (1 cask) nearly £55.

Very nice and welcoming place. We ate the best fish & chips and an excellent mushroom dish. Recommended but in my opinion a little expensive, perhaps due to the above-average quality?

Good location. The problem is that always the tables are dirty. The glass they serve the beer is dirty. Bad hygienic. The staff was not friendly, and there were no smiles.

Really rude service when buying a drink. Suggest the owners hire a bar tender that wants to work with customers.

Awful customer service. I perform tomorrow and called in to check and make enquiries, was being hung up on and was asked not to call again at 11pm. Very rude staff and unwilling to address queries.

Loved it! Just what I thought an English pub should be.

We had to try ALL the chips and loved them all. My husband was over the moon about the extra cold Guinness. It was an adorable bar with nice staff and customers. It was my favorite eating establishment we've tried so far in London.

Hands down the best pie I’ve ever had. The pastry was perfect, steak was tender and the ale really came through. The mushy peas and malt vinegar? British food at its best! Thanks guys!

This is a little gem of a pub just up the road from the British Museum and a good place to stop for lunch or evening meal. It has a pleasant pub atmosphere and staff are friendly and professional. They have a good range of real ales to choose from and the usual lager offerings. The menu is traditional and extensive and when our food was delivered it was nicely presented and perfectly cooked. Don’t be put off if the bar looks full as there is plenty of additional room upstairs. Toilets are modern clean and well maintained.

We popped in for a spot of lunch. The staff gave us a reserved table with a "please finish by..." time. They also apologised, but food would be an hour due to kitchen circumstances. Knowing this, we ordered our food. It's a proper pub in a nice area and the beer was rather good. I had a steak sandwich, and I can thoroughly recommend a pint of Flint Eye larger. In fact, I'd suggest two.

After visiting the museum, lunch for two. Drink and 5 small plates to taste everything. The order must be made at the bar... it's not as important as the wait!! When we are finally served, the different tastes are very disparate. But that’s everyone’s tastes I think. On the other hand, the setting is really very nice and the servers are attentive and attentive.

We were staying just up the street so we popped in for lunch one day and kept coming back! The last night we met some locals and had a great conversation with them and the bar staff. Jo and Jack were great, we will definitely be back next time we are in London!

Marvellous Sunday roast with a massive portion of veg and a big yorkshire pudding, the beef was a nice pink colour and gravy with an option for a childs portion. If I get the chance to come again I would love to try the chicken roast.

We arrived armed with three grandkids. That can eat a menu full of grub. We were shown to a table that was actually reserved. So that was a great gesture. The service was second to none in a packed pub due to the rain outside. The food was special. The price was really good for a busy lunch time . I can recommend this establishment with ease and confidence. My hat comes off to the chef. Top grub .

Classic crowded noisy pub with delicious food and good service. Order at the bar and your food gets delivered to your table. Only disappointment was the quiet upstairs dining room was closed for a private function, yet most of the tables were empty! We will return for the Sunday roasts.

Like many travelers it was not possible for us to have dinner. The reason is too busy you have to wait about an hour. An hour for what? The waitress and waiter were playing on their phones and chatting. This head over heels for customers.

Bustling busy pub. My wife ordered a steak meal, how disappointed she was. The steak was chewy and covered in a pesto like sauce. Not impressed.

We ended up here by chance on a Monday and ordered fish and chips and two menu items. Price-quality is great and taking into account the usual prices it seemed cheap to us! The fish and chips were huge and very delicious.

Popped in for an early supper. On ordering were disappointed to hear there was only one Flat Iron steak left, so I ended up ordering the scampi and chips with garden peas. Portions were small , scampi didn’t taste very scampi-ish and peas were rubbery and tasteless! The Steak was covered with Salsa Verdi which was overwhelmingly minty- certainly not a great taste paired with steak !!! This was scraped off! Overall a bit disappointing!

Dropped in for a drink & lunch whilst visiting The British Museum. The pub near the Museum was packed to the hilt - as expected - but we found The Plough which is only round the corner & bagged a table without trouble although it was still fairly busy. Nice atmosphere & some good ales on draught. I had a very tasty vegan mushroom chilli for lunch & my friend had Scampi & Chips. My pint of " Neck Oil " well presented , as was his G & T. Very friendly staff who were attentive & caring. Thankyou for a pleasant visit.

Went there after a visit to the British museum. We were lucky to find a table without reservation or waiting. The staff was really nice and welcoming. We tried the Fish and chips and the Grilled Cheese toastie. The food was nice and nicely presented. I would suggest going for dessert or a starter as the portions are not the biggest. Overall we had a good time.

First disappointing experience in Greene King pub! Pub quiet so a bit soulless but the staff were miserable and there was no soap in the ladies toilets despite the notice saying it’s checked regularly!!! Need to give them a pep talk GK 🤔

I feel sick just thinking about our dinner! It’s rare to now find a place in central London that is bad, but The Plough is it. First they were missing several items on the menu so I ordered nachos Yuk! Processed cheese whiz, spicy awful chips and salsa from a jar. Overpriced. Husbands steak and kidney pie must have also come from a packet! If you must come here, eat first and come for drinks! Nothing like paying high prices for yukky food.

We popped into this great pub for lunch prior to visiting the British Museum. What a great find. The three of us had a selection from the sharing light bite platters. All the dishes were fresh and hot: generous portions in all cases. The fish goujons and battered halloumi were particularly impressive. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending this pub and will certainly be returning the next time I visit the British Museum.
