The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in East of England

Shocking service, booked a private room, half way through our main we were asked to move as table of 18 booked. Food was nothing to shout about. Would never recommend this dive.

The accommodation was clean and warm , loved the powerful shower. Really comprehensive welcome pack .There were activities during the day and evening,a nice pool .The meals were varied and very good quality.a mix of waiter service or help yourself loads to choose from .All the staff we met were very helpful and high staffing levels always some one to ask..

Visited 30/10 Had Philly cheesesteak, fries and chicken tenders with a few beers. Food was great, and service was good. Really pleasant lunch 👍

For any music-lovers, and particularly folk music lovers, The Ship is a fascinating destination. With hundreds of years of history of hosting gigs (ongoing!) and open mics, and great photo collection on the walls of gigs gone by, it is well worth a visit. Drinks are reasonably-priced and the staff very friendly. We will be back!

I have been coming to WHF for years. In fact I use to come when they were open on a Sunday! I love in the area and myself and the dog go to the butcher regularly. The cafe however has become ridiculously expensive. I now find it easier to pay for the bus, go into town and have lunch there at Two magpies or the Cornish bakery (all dog friendly) and then come back home. And it’s still costs me less! Not only that but the management the last year or so has been aweful. Rude and dismissive. I don’t include everyone of course but just last week (22 Nov) I was sitting in the cafe with my dog and doing some work having a hot choc and then went to get some stuff at butcher and order a scone as well. Not only was my bill for literally 4 things and my scone and hot choc £32 but then she the women behind the counter went, and all of this is to go. Erm no, when did I say that or even indicate that. It would have been ok if it was a question but she was trying to manage me out of the door. I’m spending a lot of money in here and then on top of that you want Manoeuvre people out of the cafe by making them feel unwelcome. Terrible! Absolutely terrible! I’m spending less and less time up there. You are loosing local loyal custom!

Poor. We arrived at the start of the day with few other customers. I had the full English which looked picture perfect. However, it was largely cold, especially the beans which I didn't eat. The sourdough toast was so thin it tastes and looked like a flatter Ryvita wafer. I would not recommend this as a destination for breakfast and won't be returning.

Well. Where to start. Booked a table for 8, but one of our party had a nasty accident the day before so was unable to come. We called them in the morning to let them know, but when we got there the most miserable man on the face of the earth told us we’d have to pay for our missing colleagues meal as it had already been cooked - red flag number 1! Several meals did indeed look like they had been cooked the day before and kept warm! One of our party ordered sticky toffee pud with ice cream, but it arrived with custard so she politely sent it back. Astoundingly it returned on a fresh plate with separate ice cream, but still covered in custard where it had clearly been fished out of the original serving! The straw that broke the camels back and had us all laughing hysterically was the “trio of sorbet” which we were pretty convinced was chopped up Calippo lollies! I guess we should have expected it, as ours was the only reserved table in the place, on a Friday night, less than 3 weeks before Christmas……. Don’t go unless you have a very warped sense of humour!!

Friendly staff and great coffee. My daughter loved the apple shortcake and I’ve had both takeaway and sat in. I feel other reviews are quite harsh. Nobody loves a wooden fork but anyone with common sense understands why this coffee shop is moving to an environmentally sustainable way of operating. When we sat inside our mugs were ‘proper’ so not sure why others feel china mugs should be provided as a takeaway. If the service felt slow it might be because you walk away with your order rather than sitting and waiting for it.

This is the third 2 magpies bakery cafe we have been too. Both Blakeney and Wells are brilliant. The one at Holt was poor , floor needed sweeping, we were told 3 times they were understaffed. The food selection was very poor, no scones at all. We had to wait to be served, 2 other couples near us waited for ages to be served. I went to pay and had to wait ages. This is not the normal standard we expected from the 2 magpies, will not go to the Holt cafe again. Will carry on with the other two

With new management the Bell Inn has really improved. Was already a pub with potential but with the refurb and friendly staff, its a great place for a bite to eat (great pizzas) and great for families with loads of out door space. Inside is cosy and welcoming. Looking forwards to our next visit!

When going for one of our walks we always try and end near this lovely Deli in Chigwell. Normally a coffee, which are excellent and although we try not too, we always succumb to one of the pastries or cakes which are sublime! Everyone working here are so welcoming and friendly. There is seating inside and outside and everywhere is absolutely spotless, as soon as a table is empty it is cleaned ready for the next lucky customer. We went for lunch with friends and were extremely disappointed. We had a jacket potato (£8.25)and one each of the pie meals(£13.95). All three meals were virtually inedible. The inside of the jacket potato was rock hard and the skin very shrivelled- it had obviously been microwaved to within an inch of its life. The chicken and ham pie was dry while the steak pie contained nothing but gristle. Both pie meals were served with limp vegetables and dry chips and were lukewarm in parts and cold in others. The microwave not working efficiently for these meals. At the price this was nothing less than daylight robbery and if we hadn’t been with friends all three meals would have been returned and our money refunded. Drinks are also excessively priced and the service was poor as well. Needless to say we will never return.

Llamé para tomar café y un rollo de tocino y MUY gratamente sorprendido. El café era genial el rollo de tocino estaba en el lugar y el servicio del camarero joven era de cajón superior. Hay trabajo en el desarrollo del hotel, pero dale una oportunidad al café - no te decepcionará.

We visited 3 Nov. Good Coffe & lovely service from 2 young ladies , but spoilt by rude & sarcastic service from a middle aged bleach blonde lady who thought my daughters allergies & concerns were irrelevant. My daughter had a reaction & queried the contents of the product with the lady who was rude & dismissed her concern & sarcastically asked if she wanted an ambulance! A simple query that was appallingly dealt with. Not good enough, do better.

Went for a couple of pints at lunch time, and had a lovely time. Delightful bartender, who was friendly, helpful and efficient. Good selection of real ales and craft. Comfortable and clean environment with a nice atmosphere, when we went. We're not local, but hope to go back for a curry one evening, as the menu looked great.
