When in again but with new lot off mates as been telling them how good this place has become and what can I say this time but thank you all for not letting me down as yet again nailed it the chefs you have working at this place knows 100% what them are doing great team all round looks like a real family when them all get busy but never let the customer's down and always smiling away and having looked into the new Christmas food I be booking in too as sounds great and i 100% believe this place in one to be at like home so lovely

we have a bitter sweet relationship with this place, overall we love it, but over the years going for a meal has become like russian roulette. We met a friend there yesterday for dinner, the place was quiet, yet there was chanting at the bar "why are we waiting" there was 3 bar / till staff / table clearing - that we saw we waited 45 minutes for our main and then half an hour for our pudding plus the ceiling was leaking next to where we sat we have been there before and they have had a very limited menu - just chips and garlic bread plus we have encountered fights - someone through a pint and it missed the target and hit my dad, travellers - tipping gravy on my lap, i suppose we should stop going considering our track record, but its near, and its reasonable, but its always average!

The team here are great very friendly and attentive nothing was to much trouble. The food came and was delicious and hot. We will be back next Sunday

Had the most incredible meal, been coming here for years and it’s been the best food we’ve ever had! The staff were lovely, served us quickly and all food was cleared efficiently.

Lamb flatbread was really good and really enjoyed the Alaska trifle. Kids loved the wraps and staff was really friendly and helpful

After seeing the reviews being a mixed bag I was unsure. However when we came today the staff and food was amazing. The girls was very friendly, helpful and recommended some of there favourites. The food came in a reasonable time and was really good. We are definitely pleased we gave it a try.

So I went about for lunch the waitress staff was excellent but how ever the food wasn't so excellent I ordered steak was like eating leather when for medium rare the chips was so nice they was mushy like the had been placed in microwave. My wife scampi was over cooked in my words the food was 💩

What a shambles. There were 16 of us and we pre ordered our food. The pub was packed. One bar staff and one waitress, rarely around. The food was bland, dry and unappealing. The service was slow and unfriendly. I won't be rushing back and definitely wouldn't recommend. Greene King have really gone downhill!

Such a shame. So seriously understaffed that it is getting a bad reputation. One member of staff behind the bar and one serving food. That's it. Food was nice, but orders were incorrect and had to be sorted out because staff can't keep up. Just employ more staff and you might keep your customers. I won't be back until something changes.

We visited today, 3 adults and 4 hungry kids. My friend had a clubcard voucher, and we managed main meals for all 7 of us for just under her £60 voucher! Food was nicely presented, they adapted a few meals too (my son wanted beans and not peas on his, which was no trouble). 7 empty plates! We’d definitely come again.

Service was shocking food was average tables had not been cleared, we booked a table in advance but they couldn’t even bother to reserve one for us, another family complained because two of them had eaten there food and the others were still waiting for there’s to turn up

Came to the bar after a gym session to have some food, had a full Monty, it was very filling and the food was delicious, staff members where nice and welcoming , would come again.

Wow! You know when you go into somewhere, thinking on entry "thus is going to be 7-8/10," then it delivers at 11/10? This is one of tbose places. Spotlessly clean, and the staff were so attentive, seeing to our every need. We had a mix of carnivores and a couple of those odd vegetarians with us, fir sone reason in thr majority of other venues it seemed to confuse kitchen staff, nit so here! The food was spectacular, nobody was left waiting, all dishes were served at the same tempeature, so obviously hadn't been parked under heat lamps. All 3 courses for all of us were simply fantastic! Our compliments to all the kitchen staff, and to the floor and bar staff for being so friendly! 6 stars out of 5!

Came in for some dinner. The pub was very clean and tidy, staff welcomed us on arrival. Gary looked after us well. Prompt service, lovely meal, will be back.

Total chaos it’s seems there was only 3 members of staff working on a half term Monday 1 bar staff 1 to bring food & to collect dishes & wipe tables & the other member was in the kitchen & the reason I know this as when my husband had to send his road kill back sorry I meant hunters chicken the waitress said he would have to bear with us as there is a lot of food orders yet to come out & he was on he’s own in the kitchen, come on green king you need more than 3 members of staff on a half term break especially when kids eat free on a Monday. The food was cold & I felt the poor waitress was running around like a headless chicken orders were coming out wrong queues at the bar & the short time we were there the food waiting time went up to 40 mins & there must have only been 20 people in the pub. We should have asked for a refund really but I think if we had that poor waitress would have had a complete meltdown & just the look on her face when more people came through the door was enough, they were trying to to their best but we’re slowly sinking, I’ve been to many Hungry Horses I don’t expect haute cuisine it is what it is my husband has worked for green king & it’s a very simplified system that works if you have the right staff & you shouldn’t have to hear the waitress running around like on a marathon puffing & blowing & saying we’re busy & youl have to wait & replacing meals without asking is it ok for you this time I felt like I was in my nans kitchen when the whole family desends & can’t cope.

Making our way home from the NEC Birmingham to home in Boston. Found this restaurant (slight detour) via Peterborough in the hope of finding somewhere to eat (on Valentine's day evening) Absolutely fantastic and helpful staff at the bar. Extremely friendly and cheerful. We had a great, enjoyable meal. Excellent food and great staff. Would certainly go back again for a meal and we would certainly recommend the food, together with the excellent service and staff.

Hubby treated me to a rare meal out and we weren't disappointed. We were greeted warmly upon entering and found the staff to be friendly & efficient. Once the meal arrived it was excellent! Cooked perfectly and just to my liking. Would definitely recommend.

Went here for a change & well it was great service by Zivibe & Mark nothing to much trouble & they were busy good price aswell we will definitely go back here think Greene King have got the staff correct here a lot better than last time we was here

From start to finish the service was horrendous. Me and my partner arrived and went to order our food/drinks however the wait for anyone to acknowledge us was awful. Once we had ordered our food it took ages to come out. My partner ordered a cheese and bacon burger and it arrived with no bacon! The chips were cold and it felt like they had been sitting for ages. When approaching a member of staff to ask where the bacon was in the burger he looked at us questioningly as if we had either eaten it or that it was there and we had not looked properly. He made my partner practically deconstruct the burger to prove that there was no bacon. This member of staff then stormed into the kitchen without even an apology and didn't even take the plate back to the kitchen. When coming out of the kitchen he still didn't come to take away the plate. My partner questioned him if he was going to take the plate away and he said No he was just going to be bringing the bacon out in a bowl. My partner had to request for him to take the plate and as he did this it was with such an awful attitude making us feel uncomfortable. He then proceeded to ignore us for the whole of the evening and not one member of staff came to ask us if everything was okay through out the whole 2 hours during our visit. Our plates were never cleared and eventually when we left and we felt as though because we had mentioned something that was clearly the error of the restaurant not ours, that we were intentionally ignored. I feel any staff members who work in a front of house role should at least be able to speak with customers politely and perhaps would benefit from some further training on how to speak to people. We shall not be returning and will be recommending that our friends and family avoid the place.

We are regulars and always enjoy our visit. The food is great and very affordable. Mikey is an absolute star, gives incredible service and is an true ambassador for The Hungry Horse.

I used to come here all the time with my friends specifically to get the halloumi sandwich. This time i’ve been and they’ve removed the best sandwich ive ever had in my entire life from the menu….and replaced it with an exact same copy just with chicken instead!! We asked if there’s any way i could still have it with halloumi in it instead because i don’t eat meat but we were told it was discontinued and there’s absolutely no way i could have it which is fair enough, i totally get it so i ordered the battered halloumi and chips instead…..and the exact same halloumi that went in the sandwich comes out on a plate!!!!! The worst part is you can even buy the garlic ciabatta on it’s own and make it yourself at the table if you ask for some of the sauce!!! I just don’t understand why if you have the items on the menu on different dishes you couldn’t just make the chicken interchangeable with halloumi!!!! That sandwich was the best thing i’ve ever eaten and it saddens me that i’ll never get to taste it ever again.

Went for a meal with my partner, was served barely half a portion which was dry and burned. After sending it back the waitress returned with what was clearly the original skanky portion with the burned bits picked out. Sent it back again and manager declared they'd run out of what I had ordered.All this whilst My partner was able to eat his meal. Had to fight for a partial refund and manager did not care at all that I had to go hungry.Will never return.

The staff were rushed off their feet but we’re still attentive to their customers and their needs. The food was piping hot and beautifully cooked, the beer was lovely and cold and tasted as it should. Came here with my family and if you are looking for the most value for money then look no further. The menu is huge, well priced and everything was cooked perfectly. Our server, Rob, really did go above and beyond to make our visit as comfortable as possible. My children have particular allergens and he stood with us and helped us navigate through the app to find what we needed to find. An asset to the team. Thanks again, we will definitely be back.

Visited with the kids recently and we all enjoyed our meals.The pub was relatively quiet on a Sunday evening and a number of tables (that remained empty) were marked reserved but we found a place to go easily.My son enjoyed his meal, its a good mix and match menu so kids can just pick what they would want.My daughter had a steak and found it well cooked to her liking!I had a sizzler platter with a double bacon cheeseburger, chicken wings, small steak and chips. All was of good quality for the price and portion generous!We enjoyed it - would come again!

Always look for a Hungry Horse when away from home so called in the Halcyon and were greeted by a very friendly lady who took our order for 2 meals from the Golden years menu. We were surprised by the speed they arrived and for the price large portions. The place was very clean and tidy and would recommend to anyone.

I must start off by saying i never usually write reviews however after a visit with my friends to this place, let me tell you, THE TEAM, THE SERVICE, THE FOOD and THE ENTIRE ATMOSPHERE was EXCEPTIONAL and FIRST CLASS!! The variety of FOOD and DRINK was second to none! I have a new favourite place to eat and spend quality time with my friends and family. A special thanks to Damon for making us all feel welcome and being a great host in the evening, Full 5 Stars for the all round experience :) will come back soon

It was a lovely meal. Sam Stuart and Louis really made so delicious food! We were served by Marcus and Damen and we couldn't of wanted more, nothing was a problem with whatever we asked for. The supervisor Rachel should be very proud of her team. Great service, great food and a great treat. Will definitely be returning.

My daughter and I came out for dinner after work Friday. The service was great, really quick and polite. I had the gammon mix it up (with char siu sauce), baked potato and salad, my daughter had the chicken breast mix it up (with bbq sauce), chips and onion rings. It was really delicious! We'll be back again very soon

Very poor service, told when shown to table that someone would be along in a few minutes to take our order. After waiting approx 20 mins decided to download app and order that way, after waiting another 15 mins for preorderd drinks asked young lady could she please sort them, which she did. When the food finally arrived it was luke warm and swimming in grease, not what we expect from Green King.

So after finding out about a new deal my partner, I and our doggo popped in for a bite to eat in our pyjamas. To call it a bite was an underestatement, I'm talking a full meter long sausage in a bun and could only managed half of that at best. The food was fresh and cooked excellently, very filling and a great price, the outdoor seating area was nice and clean too. Not to mention the staff members were so welcoming and friendly especially Kyra, offering to get our dog some water and his own breakfast for coming in his pyjamas too. Overall one of the best visits we've had here and would definitely come again.

Went there for my second date, and let me tell you the food was the best thing on the table and that’s including my date Kyra was a star and made sure all our needs were met! Great customer service... actually outstanding! All the staff on shift were great but kyra stood out! The food was amazing and the horse-shoe onion rings are a must buy. On booking table after recently reopening after covid the service over the phone booking a table I was advised it needed to be booked through the app I advised Vicki I didn't have she was very considerate and booked me a table over the phone unfortunately I was running behind and rang twice to put back the table I spoke to Vicki all tines and she was fantastic once I entered the pub I then spoke to Vicki in person and she was brilliant and so understanding ordered food and now waiting excellent service so far

Enjoyed revisiting one of our favourite places tonight as it reopened its doors....and what a better way to celebrate was my mum’s birthday Not only was the meal amazing and catered to all of our choices and needs, a lovely young lady called Vicky made our visit that little bit more! Nothing was too much for her and she went above and beyond to make our night memorable, great customer service skills and always with a great big smile on her face, she then topped the night by finding candles for my mums cake and delivering it to our table!! Can’t wait to visit again...top marks from us guys xxx

We visited here today for a family meal, and i have to say the service we received from Helen was absolutely fantastic, without doubt the best service we have ever received in any pub or restaurant. nothing was too much trouble, and made sure we was happy with our food, which also was great, lovely and tasty, and went out of her way to make our visit a memorable one, We would definitely recommend this pub to anyone, and if you are lucky enough to be served by Helen, you will have a great time, we are going back on monday for a family meal and can not wait.

Omg the quizzes are fab here. The lady that does them is hilarious and makes everyone feel really comfortable. It’s a great comfortable environment for everyone.

My family and I visited the establishment during the recent half term for meals. The place was warm and exceptionally clean. All measures of social distancing and sanitisation were implemented and in a friendly (not draconian) manner. Our meals were brought to us in an exceptable time frame and were hot, as described and not to mention delicious. Our waitress Heidi was very friendly and efficient and quite simply could not do enough to make our visit anymore positive. Heidi made time to entertain our children by providing colouring essentials whilst we were waiting for our meals and was always at hand to check if there was anything else we needed alongside all the other tables and customers she was taking care of. We tried to offer Heidi a tip to express further our gratitude for her outstanding service but she refused stating that she was simple happy that she that assisted in given us a great time. It is rare that I sit down to take the time to write a review but feel that it's the least I could do. I definitely rate our experience 5 stars based on the establishment, food and definitely the service we received. I will be recommending the Halcyon to my friends and colleagues.

We love coming here every week for our weekly outing, Vicky is always so happy! And always understands when we need to change the peas to beans! 10/10 every time !

Me and my partner came to the halcyon on Thursday night around 8 to attend the quiz that we thoroughly enjoy and attend most of the time when it’s on. When we came in everyone was adhering to the Covid rules . The staff were friendly as usual . Heidi was the one who was doing the quiz . She’s always so happy and bubbly and makes the whole experience fun and the quizzes are always different which makes it very enjoyable .

I visited the pub with a few friends for lunch and some drinks on a busy afternoon. I have visited this establishment on many occasions but I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the level of customer service we received. We were met at the door by a lady who I later found out was called Heidi. She greeted us with a smile and explained all we needed to know in regards to checking in etc. We were shown to a table and instantly made to feel welcome. She was efficient and attentive throughout our visit. When leaving even though it was busy she made the time to say goodbye. I wish every pub experience could be like this. We will definitely be returning.

The pub quiz lead by Heidi on a Thursday is the highlight of my week !!!! Heidi is so funny and enthusiastic and is always making her customers smile! It’s such an enjoyable experience and easily the best pub quiz i’ve been to - with rounds mirroring classic TV shows like Blockbusters and Family fortunes! - all whilst being in a lovely pub with incredible food. Me and my friends went to the halcyon for food when there was a pub quiz on at the same time, it looked really fun so we went back the week after and Heidi who does the quiz is so welcoming and we absolutely love going now. We go every week. We really enjoy the food here too!!

We'd booked a table for 6 through the app. Family catch up. Got to the pub only to be told there was no booking and we couldn't be accomadated. We asked for the manager and showed him our email confirmation. He basically said it didn't matter and after back and forth conversation he said he'd try and arrange a table for later, if we came back as "he'd have to rearrange for the whole restaurant for us" We which said we didn't want to come back later. The manager was very rude and condescending. To be honest if he worked for my company I'd be very disappointed. Wouldn't a visit here at all!!

We booked a table for breakfast over the internet. The earliest it would let us have, was for 1100, however when we arrived (a) it wasn't busy and we could have obviously gone earlier and (b) a little worryingly, our reservation had not been received. We were graciously accommodated however and decided to order steak and chips as a late breakfast / early lunch or "brunch" It was lovely. Nicely cooked steak, topped with two fried eggs and a serving of chips. We were quite disappointed that more people were not eating, as it really was good. The Covid-19 safety measures are excellent with staff monitoring 'track and trace' registration besides face coverings adherence and initial hand sanitisation upon entry. The toilets were clean and tidy and our table (see photo) spotless. Recommended

Great service as always, however I’m a little disappointed as the face mask rule wasn’t implemented for all customers. I see this as unfair as I wasn’t allowed to be seated until I had scanned the track and trace, which I understand is within the new rules. Yet people that arrived after us were allowed to come into the pub without face coverings, what appeared to be the team leader on shift seated them without asking for them to wear masks. They also weren’t told to use the table service app like a lot of other customers.

This morning myself and my family went for breakfast, I have eaten here many times before but never for breakfast. I am a chef so expect good food. My partner had steak egg and chips, he ordered it medium, it was cooked to perfection! My breakfast was lovely too.. I did ask the barmaid to tell the chef that we really enjoyed our food today. Thank you Sam, keep up the good work..

I am quite regularly at the halycon for food or drink and am always pleased with the services provided, staff are always lovely and great atmosphere even with the current pandemic situation.

We came in yesterday for a meal to use the 50% discount. Well what can I say it was absolutely delicious, loads of food and paid nothing for it. The service was lovely even though they were very busy I didn’t have a table booked but they bent over backwards to find me a table. Will definitely return! Thank you!

we didnt book a table for our family of 4 tonight, most places fully booked just walked in and got seated straight away, the staff were so friendly and with the current situation we are in are very quick to get stuff done! today was baking hot! i could see from looking at the staff they were feeling it! didnt bother them and they continued to give the best service! some people are just horrible and expect everything for nothing! with this 50% off some people are still not happy! our meal was lovely we waited a little longer than normal but that is to be expected when the government have introduced this new scheme and they are really busy! Hats of to you guys in this boiling hot heat walking in and out of the boiling kitchen and wearing face shields i honestly felt for you! we went home with full bellies and very happy!

All my family came to the halcyon for a get together after lock down. What lovely service from all th staff. We had a great time with absolutely lovely food. The place is clean and very friendly. I will be returning very soon.

Went for a quick meal with friends. It was very lovely meal. The taste of tomato soup and a cheeseburger were just amazing. Really happy with all the service and everything else. Highly recommended.

Went for a lunch to the Halcyon as we had a decent meal there once before.I ordered the grill platter thing with a steak sausages, a fried egg and some chicken breasts, and my partner ordered a "new york pizza".The pizza she received was absolutely shocking, it looked like someone emptied an entire bottle of barbecue sauce on it. It was literally swimming in sauce, it looked like a soup and the whole plate was completely covered in BBQ sauce, the entire pizza was soggy and cold because it had soaked up all the cold sauce that the "cook" had poured all over it. There was so much sauce on there you couldn't even see the cheese or the pizza toppings. Meanwhile my steak was more a steak tartare than a grilled steak, completely raw and cold in the middle.Needless to say we left without finishing our food and ended up completely wasting £28. Will not return again.

Nothing major to report. Good food, good atmosphere. No children’s outdoor area anymore. Or any activity sheets to keep them entertained whilst waiting for food.

Food was delivered quickly staff were friendly and helpful and very professional and food and drinks were value for money

Visited Sunday evening, ordered food, totally brought out the wrong order , as well as sending my food back as it was wrong the chips were cold so they got sent back aswell and when they brought my order back that was still wrong , terrible service !!!
