Awesome event and live music. Staff are wonderful, too

When i visited this Incredible and very Popular venue sutuated near Peterborough's Town Bridge. What used to be a Dutch Barge, that was converted into a Bar and Restuarant and also now a Outside Area with Tables & Chairs and a Outside Bar. Because it was really Gorgeous weather i stayed Outside. I had a Pint of Guinness 0.0 and just a plate of Scampi, Chips and Salad. I really had a Great time at Charters Bar and Restuarant. The Food was superb and my Guinness 0.0 was Excellent. What a Great place to come and visit in Peterborough. I Recommend you come for a visit. Vi Staropramen que había sido decantado en una jarra de plástico usada para llenar nuestros vasos. Era plana y cuando se señaló esto terminó en una discusión prolongada con alguien que pensó que i) se resolvería recargándola de donde debería haber venido en primer lugar; y ii) era capaz de usar una "rellena capilar" de una pajita para confirmar "es gaseosa". No lo era. Se rindió, sin reembolso, se fue. Encogerse de hombros. Qué pena. Es un gran lugar.

Excellent long standing beer bar located on a Dutch Barge, now with huge outdoor drinking area on the riverside. Outdoor bar opens at peak times, had live DJ playing on a sunny Friday afternoon.

Lovely outside bar especially when its sunny. There'd also a great little Mexican food van close which is great for the drunken munchies.

All ways visit here when visit. Friendly bar with plenty of outdoor seating. East restaurant upstairs serves great food

From the outside very ramshackle. Inside much better. Big garden area. Notable tilt to boat due to weight of beer all on one side! Ale variable. No craft keg of note.

I like this place in the good weather. Most Sundays they're band. Really nice and relaxing at the river.

Lovely people who actually work at charters, so nice and welcoming at the event. Yet at a private hire we had what I presumed to be external security, which was intimidating the guest, constantly asking them questions and worse of all shining a torch into all my guests eyes. Everyone who actually worked at charters was very understanding and helpful but the security that we paid £80 for ruined the whole night completely. A lot of money and effort was gone into this event and I’m just dissatisfied with the results.

...a meeting after a long time and we made a good choice, great beer, great atmosphere and music... it's a shame that it's February and we couldn't sit outside.

Lovely dog friendly pub. Welcoming staff and were able to accommodate food for my dog.

Well worth a visit when looking for a drink in Peterborough

Few drinks on a Friday afternoon. Great selection of beers etc, good prices and offer of a free drink for every five purchased a good idea, keep this going.

Best pub/bar in Peterborough. Great range of ales/ciders etc. Very friendly and informative staff and the food is great too with the Thai restaurant upstairs delivering to your table in the pub!

Lovely venue, charters downstairs for a drink and restaurant on the top deck for food (East) 9 happy guests food was lovely, will be back :)

Great food for lunch, then listened to the two guys downstairs, banging afternoon.

I love having a catchup with friends and family, charters is always our go too.. Staff are always warm and friendly , food is great and so is the live music on a Sunday afternoon.

Wonderful food. Very busy can't hear what the waitresses are asking. Food arrived promptly. Everything tastes fantastic.

This was a find. A floating pub in centre of Peterborough. Not very busy when we visited on Boxing day but glad I found it for future visits. No food but good range of drinks & friendly staff.

Lo que un lugar gr 8, muy único, personal muy amable, sin duda volvería para una comida la próxima vez, fueron capaces de llevar al perro y la banda Midnight Jack estaban tocando, música increíble 90 's + grandes chicos, el barco era rock!

Great food and service as always but the noise from the disc below in Charter's was a bit of an issue

Has stood the test of time, awesome venue that will never disappoint.

Never had a bad meal here, tempura prawns out of world but could mention any other food item as all high quality!

Excellent bar with a great range of ales. Only a stones throwaway from the Cathedral and guildhall.

Well, this is with a heavy heart I write this negative review. I have dinned here countless times and not once had a bad experience until tonight. The service was lacklustre at best scatter gunned at worst. The atmosphere was poor so loud you could not hear yourself think or talk not the best environment for a celebration it wasn’t even like it was loud enjoyable it was loud and hectic and this seemed to impact on the staff who clearly struggled tonight to cope. The service was also a lot slower than I would deem reasonable meaning by the time we had our starters we were ready to get outta there. Not the best when you’re shelling out near on £100 for the privilege it’s such a shame cause the quality of the food is 10/10 but the environment and service let it down. Also owing the the fact the toilets are shared with the pub below it’s very hit and miss how well these are maintained tonight sadly they had taken more than a beating due to the drunken rabble that had used them and left them is such a state you felt like you needed a hazmat suit to enter.

Cheeky pint as was walking past. Probably a bit early in the day for the beer feast (as I can't spell the German version!) but I really like this place.

Good vibe, lots of outside seating and drink reasonably priced. Music from a DJ. Gets busy, seems well suited to everyone with a mix of couples, groups and families, young and old. Didn't eat, but food seemed popular.

Enjoyable selection of real ales and they offer a burger and pint deal which is really good. Thai restaurant upstairs. Staff are very helpful.

Charters is an amazing and unique location. Situated on an old barge the main bar is a great experience, plus the huge beer garden with entertainment guarantees a great atmosphere especially on a sunny day as the trees and pavilion provide great shade. Is there a better place for a catch up with friends in Peterborough? I’m not sure.

Great place this. Right on the river. Huge outdoor area with pizza. Coffee mexican. And a decent sized resturant on the upper deck of the boat. Loads of people serving so small wait times. Everyone seemed friendly enough. Good selection of beers ales etc. Seemed senisble on price for a town centre pub. Something for everyone really. Would recommend and would go again.

Great outdoor place great music

I loved this place. The old school music from the late 70s was excellent. The Ramones, The UK Subs, The Clash. The bar downstairs in the hull was a treat, and the Guinness was spot on. The young man who served us was friendly and chatty with good banter, an absolute joy. The seating area outside was huge, I was gutted there was no live music on the night we were there. I wish we had one of these moored on the River Tees back in Boro.

Charters is class if it’s dead, anymore than 17 people there at any one time the service drops and it’s not enjoyable. P.s it’s probably the worst football viewing experience of football I have ever had.

Lovely place to be in the summer especially if they have an event on. One of the nice places left in Peterborough. Definitely worth a visit.

Never like giving a poor review but on this occasion is up there with the worst, went to watch the England game and was so poorly organised, you were more interested in making money on the booze than offering a service to show the football on the screen the screen itself was to low to watch, everyone was standing one the tables so nobody could see the tv. You should never be allowed to show live TV again. Left after 30 minutes as I had enough and so it a lot more people

Visited for the first time Saturday was heaving, great experience... But toilets were disgusting!

For real ale this is one place that is very hard to surpass, being popular though expect a wait, but is worth the wait. The live music is wonderful if the weather is good, but for me the music downstairs can be a bit overpowering. It is dog friendly but the gravel makes it very dirty for dogs but there is a grass area.

Alright experience for a Monday evening. Great weather so got to enjoy the beer garden!

The Asian food was ok. The venue is dead with little atmosphere, a summer suitable weather venue. Parking is terrible.

This is a very good pub on the River Nene in the centre of Peterborough. Last year it has had extensive work expanding the outside area and on a sunny day it's really the place to be if you want to enjoy the weather by the river with a drink or three. They have a large selection of drinks which is ever changing, particulary real ales, stouts and traditional ciders. Burgers and Pizza food options at certain times if you get a bit peckish - not tried them yet so can't comment on quality. The place can get very busy but staffing levels are usually gauged correctly so they can deal with the increased demand without too much of a wait. Live music outside in summer and regular bands at the weekends. It has it all really.

Lovely place for early evening drinks. Christopher Paul was the young gentleman that served us and his cocktails were amazing. A very polite young man who is a credit to your company.
