Has been my favourite real ale pub in Peterborough for years. Always a top range of beers on tap chilled in the back room, and they get new ones in all the time. Had a Harvest Pale this time - delicious! I think they recently changed ownership and the front room has been decorated. This pub is a hidden gem 💎🍻👌🏼

Gwyn (land lady) and Cathy (senior bar staff) are very welcoming and ready to help make your choice of drinks, very friendly and fun. Venue is much brighter and comfortable seating has been added, lovely relaxing and easy atmosphere.

Gwyn has taken on this ‘one off’ Batemans Real Ale pub. A popular CAMRA pub with friendly staff and regulars alike. Busy on Peterborough United home game for both home and away fans enjoying life. Give it a go it’s well worth the visit to the Oundle Road jewel.

Argyle on tour!! We all met here before and after the match. Lively venue with good barstaff and great ales. It was packed before the game with Peterborough and Argyle fans enjoying the ore match atmosphere. XXXb was the ale for me...

A very nice pint served with a smile in a friendly environment, with a nice selection of 5 or 6 beers. The pub is nothing special to look at but it's a very nice drinking hole which is a very welcome change from the generic pubs everywhere. Glad to have gone in for a pint and will go back when I am in the area again.

I found the staff a bit quiet...(not small talky) I feel that in a pub, even small talk is very appropriate to make customers feel at ease and comfortable

Don't go for the decor, your there for the beer. Proper public house, with plenty of choice for beer drinkers not lager lovers, as it should be.

Was visiting this place quite often recently because of it's good selection of ales and generally charming atmosphere. But I've gone off it somewhat due to the apparent tolerance of anti-semitism from bar staff and intolerance of someone taking issue with that anti-semitism.

My wife and I have been popping in to the Palmy for over 20 years. And we remember Irvin and Paula well. The present people running it are really great and we will continue to call in after our saturday walk round ferry meadows. PS the beer is usually in good condition.

A real gem and a real boozer, these are few and far between these days. Very friendly with a lovely quiet atmosphere.

I was visiting relatives on the other side of the river but it was absolutely worth the trek. A gem with a marvelous range of excellent beers the great majority of them dropped straight from the barrel. From memory just 3 on hand pump. Go - you won't regret it. *****

Unusual genuinely old small pub, with often changed Real Ales. A real fire in the worst of winter would be an extra attraction. Nice to be free of endless wall to wall sports screens & noise.

Cracking little boozer, one of the few remaining real pubs. Great banter at the bar, plenty of good beers on tap, perfect for a quick drink with friends, family, or just going in for a few jars on your own at the bar.

Another great pub for real ale. Large selection straight from the barrel. A rarity these days. Basic but comfortable.

Good pub, excellent beer. Not too dear either. Also within a 2 minute walk are some good takeaways. Especially for those who like me suffer from the beer munchies! On the bus route too only 10 minute bus ride for me!

Unique and enjoyable I wasn't a massive fan of the pint I had but there was plenty of choice . And they offer testers which regrettably I declined.

We got some drinks to bring over to Baan Thai which is opposite and inside and out is lovely. Will be back for another drink soon.

Great beer pulled straight from the cask

The place smells bad for a start. The bar staff are horrid. Dirty glasses. Can’t take a joke. Terrible place unless you’re a local. And the only food they do is disgusting looking rolls kept in a bucket on the bar. Stay clear unless you want badly kept ale, a cold welcome and crap rolls. 0 out of 5. Bad place with bad staff.

Get past the tired look of the place & the initial 'looks' you get from being a newbie in the place, & you'll find a friendly atmosphere & a great selection of beers & ciders to choose from. We went on a 'Vinyl night', held every 4th week. The tunes were being played and us - being oldies - really enjoyed them. It was great to finish off an evening out doing that. So glad we went....!

Very small and no parking so have to use a side street or ebenezers car park but dont use nisa carpark as you will get a parking ticket

Lovely place with lovely people and staff. Had a great quiz night with football playing on tv. People who don't know you can have friendly conversations and it feels like a proper community. Definitely recommend

The recommendation that I was given was for the enormous choice of beers and quality. Yes, I got a good pint. Nothing more than good though and there really was a disappointing range to choose from. One pint and moved on I am afraid.

Friendly crowd. Super staff. And fantastic lagers. Katherine was friendly and made us feel comfortable n suggested some nice local lagers !!! Definetly shall visit again
