What a dreadful experience. If could give zero stars I would. Having booked online several days before our reservation and replied to the two emails received from Open Table confirming our party of three would attend we drove from London and arrived 5 minutes before our table was due. I found a member of staff to announce our arrival and was told “you’re in the overflow room”. We were shown to a dark, dingy, characterless annex that had the atmosphere of a disused office with its unmade tables and soulless decor. We were also alone in the overflow further adding to the awful ambience . I expressed surprise at our location, particularly as I had booked well in advance and was told “the tablet (I assume computer) sits you”. When we arrived and parked I was approached by two gentleman who asked if I knew somewhere locally to eat. I directed to the Dun Cow and they entered the pub ahead of our party. They were sat in the main area at a table for four. I pointed this out to the lady who took us to the overflow room and asked why the “tablet” had not sat two walk-ins in the overflow area and sat them at a table for four? She and another member of staff declined to reply other than to say “you can wait in the bar until a table appears if you like”. The arrogance and ambivalence of the staff was breathtaking. I will never return which is a shame having dined at the Dun Cow before. However every cloud has a silver lining. We made our way to Cley Next The Sea a short distance away where we lunched at the very excellent George and Dragon. We were welcomed by truly hospitable staff who sat us in the busy dining room were we had a splendid, superbly cooked lunch served by two very charming staff. The George and Dragon I highly recommend and have written a review accordingly. If you are reading this and thinking of dining at the Dun Cow then I suggest you make your booking at the George and Dragon Cley Next The Sea.

This has been the 4th or 5th time I've gone to eat at the crown in Biggleswade and I will never be eating there again... the food is atrocious, the 1st occasion was for breakfast and I had to send my plate back 3 times because my egg was either raw or so overcooked it could have been made the day before... Another time with my partner we had ordered the curry which came with half the ingredients missing I.E naan bread, badjis.... charged same price mind you although there is a Asda right behind them they never had the thought of especially on the day of the week that they have curry deal to make sure that they had the necessary ingredients to be able to have the cheeky to take people's money for it. We ended up sending it back twice as the chicken was completely burnt after the second time we requested a refund which we were then told we had to wait 14 days as we paid by card which was ridiculous.... Today I attempted to order a mixed grill and I never in my life have seen some ov the worst cuts of meat ever on a plate in my life, the so called steak which I wasn't asked how I wanted cooking was just a thin piece of gristle and everything else was overcooked and full of fat ..... I've never eaten in a worse weatherspoons in all my life the best thing was my chips . IF YOU HAVE ANY SENSE DO NOT HOTHER WASTING YOUR HARD EARNED CASH ON THE POOR QUALITY FOOD SERVED HERE, IM A CHED MYSELF AND I WOULD BE ABSOLUTELY ASHAMED OF MYSELF IF I HAD SERVED THAT TO ANYONE OF MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS LET ALONE A PAYING CUSTOMER. HOW YOU CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT AFTER TAKING PEOPLE'S CASH FOR THAT DISGRACEFUL I CAN'T EVEN CALL IT FOOD ITS BEYOND ME.

I live close by in Rougham and hadn’t been for a couple of years as was really disappointed the last few times we went. But it was great! Food was absolutely lovely, good service, friendly staff and didn’t wait long either! Will definitely start going back again. Shout out to the kitchen staff who were really helpful with all our requests as we’re both a bit fussy😂

We got there early so had a coffee and cake from inside the foyer. My latte was made from a sachet of powder so had lumps in but the very overpriced cake tasted like it was made a week ago. I opted for the hedwig cake at £9.95 and it was awful. Solid as a brick, solid sponge, a small taste of custard inside and lots of buttercream. No way was that cake fresh. My daughter had a death eater cake. Chocolate with a tiny cherry filling at £8.95. Hers was also very dry but not as bad. If you are buying these, ask if they are freshly made. Otherwise its a lot of money to waste.

We came off the motorway for lunch on our travels and liked the look of The Gate. Parking is plentiful and easy. We had liver and scallops to start, and chicken and mixed roast mains, which seemed perfect for Sunday lunch. It was the best roast that we have had this year so far. All of the food was tasty and there was plenty of it. We were looked after very well by Scarlett, who does her work with a nice genuine smile. It was quite busy, we had arrived early and I think we were lucky to get a table as we had no booking.

Dropped in for a takeaway. Staff lovely and helpful when knowing what to choose. We decided on the crab royale and the mackerel royale. Then popped over to the pub for a pint whilst they were being freshly prepared. Lovely presentation and the tasted excellent. Good value for money and we will be back. Thank you.

We have given it three tries, first, food was OK, short staffed, bad service, 2nd similar but food again was ok, tried again last night, 8pm booking, only us and a table of 4, another couple were then seated, table of 4 had finished. We ordered starters and mains, starters arrived, yes ok, having finished those they were cleared, we awaited our mains, we could see 4 main meals on the counter where the two chefs were as only us and the other couple, they had to be ours, after watching for ten minutes and still sitting there under the heat lamps, I spoke with the manager, he went to them but apparently not fully prepared, awaiting chips ? After about a further 10 minutes they were served to us, no cutlery so we had to take from the next table, the food was dry, mixed grill was awful eggs were now rubbery all meat was dry, salad was warm, the other meal was equally as bad, warm salad and small tomatoes, chicken dried out, sauce congealed. Neither edible, so mostly left. No we didn’t have to pay, but how can Two chefs not prepare 2 meals to come out fresh and hot, it’s wasn’t as if it was busy, total joke, maybe time to replace with a new restaurant team. I feel all there have become complacent. To be that empty on a Saturday evening, something is wrong.

Four of us went for Sunday Carvery today we are regulars and it’s usually fine but today it was disgusting lack of vegetables, roast potatoes hardly done, the meats were tough apart from Turkey and very fatty. We got our food no gravy waited 5min for it whilst food getting cold. It eventually came put on food it was like warm and certainly was not a meat gravy probably a vegetarian gravy as it was very pale and tasted funny and powdery. Very very poor Grayling
