I work away quite a lot and it was such a lovely treat to find such a friendly hotel with great food. Great staff and fantastic service. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you

great little bakery in the centre of wirksworth, spotlessly clean, and run by a friendly elderly couple, who make everything homemade. cakes, pastries, and homemade pies, and also coffeees, teas, and cold drinks.very reasonable prices, and just up the road from Wirksworth railway station. i always pop in for treats when i catch the train up from Duffield for the afternoon, recomended..! :-)

The Greenhouse Kitchen restaurant. Meatballs and tagliatelle which was very tasty. Duck with fresh pappardelle, absolutely delicious. Parmigiana di Melanzane served with brocolli and homemade focaccia. Oh my word this was the star of the show. This was outstanding, authentically Italian and quite possibly the best we have ever tasted. Even Mamma gave her approval, which is very rare. It was a good job we ordered a side of the lovely charred brocolli as it made a great accompaniment. This was definately worth the visit and we shall have to return to try the brunch menu. Maybe with our doggies,as they are allowed in the conservatory seating area.

It takes a lot for me to write a bad review especially as I have sons in the hospitality business, however my experience today was beyond poor !! When I arrived at around 12.30 there was only one couple in the cafe who were about to leave . I ordered a coffee and the carrot, coriander and ginger soup. The soup was just about warm when it arrived . As I was the only customer it was hardly due to the kitchen being under pressure. In addition to the temperature it was totally tasteless. I asked for salt and pepper and tried adding it . Unfortunately it did nothing to improve the soup . In all honesty if I hadn’t ordered it myself I would have struggled to name any ingredients!! I finished my coffee and took the soup back to the counter. I was asked if everything was okay and I politely explained why I was returning it . Whilst the apology I received was appreciated there was no offer of a refund nor was I asked if I would like anything else . The member of staff was quite young and appeared out of their depth, not their fault but clearly a training issue for the owner. I certainly won’t be returning!!

The fish and chips here vastly improved my impression of Ashbourne! Arrived at the zero food hour of 2pm on an August summer afternoon. After finding several places closed and not serving food we stumbled into the oasis of the Greenman hotel! Had amazing fish and chips and a pint or two of Estrella! It was very tasty and just what we needed. Keep it up all at the Greenman! Thanks - I'm ready for a sleep now - I understand that they have accommodation too! Highly recommend IMHO.

What a disappointment!! Soup burnt my mouth Toastie was 9.45 for two poor pieces of bread, very little tasteless filling and dry salad Water is from Costco and charged at £1.95! Female staff member had no hospitality skills and after telling her I was underwhelmed, no apology or manager came over even after telling them I burnt my mouth! Won't be back. I recommend Chakra instead

A group of us booked for lunch and ordered in advance. The staff were very pleasant and helpful , service was good as was the food with a choice of portion size for some dishes. My meal was missing peas but this was quickly rectified. The cakes looked delicate and tyere was one desert and ice-cream om offer yoo. The tea rooms are warm which was good as the weather outside was awful. There is outside seating for good weather days. There are a few charity shops on site and walks in the grounds, weather permitting and a model railway open on Wednesdays and Fridays. Definitely worth a visit.

First time back as Chapel since lockdown and nice to see changes at Arches and the old Bellbank on Trunch lane. We knew that The Maid Marion had changed so we thought we'd try it. Having eaten here numerous times and never being disapointed. We arrived just before the kitchen closed and we're told we had two minutes to order so we quickly ordered two meals and drinks and for £37 we expected a decent meal. Steak and Ale pie and chips. Cold soggy chips, pie reheated in a microwave, soggy pastry, congealed gravy also cold. Cheese burger, onion rings, chips and salad. Everything was cold apart from the burger which was so over cooked it was almost black. The salad consisted of a few limp lettuce leaves, all in all a very disappointing meal. We understand that we were just in time for ordering food but that should not mean a reduced service, our meals were rushed and prepared carelessly. The alterations look nice and have added to the general appeal of the place and in some ways explain the rather high prices. We will not return as it is not as good as when it was Maid Marion, for a pub in such a prominent position it should be doing better, it looks the part but fails miserably in it's execution.

I really wish I could review better than 3*, the coffee is very good and the baristas are better than those at rival coffee houses........BUT, the queue is constantly long with very little effort to get the customers served any quicker. The tables are usually littered with dirty cups, again, little enthusiasm from the staff to clear and clean them. I also think the toilet could be cleaned more regularly, it's a lottery using it, sometimes it's very clean, but more often than not, it's dirty.

Just been to Sconce Park with my husband and granddaughter and was hoping for a peaceful coffee in the sunshine. However, the loud and obtrusive music blaring out from loud speakers put us off completely. It’s the volume, not the music. Turn it down!! I don’t know how the local residents can stand it and I’d be complaining if I lived near there. Sad really.

A little gem hidden away. Took my mum for afternoon tea. Lovely old fashion tea set already set out ( cup, saucer plate) . Linda our hostess brought out a 3 tiered plate stand. Top plate was mini cakes, doughnuts and profiteroles. Middle plate was a selection of thick crustless sliced sandwiches with hearty fillings. We had tuna, cheese with red onion, sliced tomatoes and egg some plain and some with tomato. Our bottom plate had again variety of cake two of each - good sizes Walnut ? , lemon, a slice of something sweet chocolatey with a bit of a crunch (very tasty) and scones with jam, clotted cream. And some strawberries. We were also asked if we would like tea or coffee. We chose tea and a pot was brought out. When we needed a top up, we only had to ask and another was brought out to us. Linda our hostess also checked with us that everything was fine and also gave us a doggy bag to take home what we couldn't manage, which we needed and was a lovely consideration, with us not having ask for one. The afternoon tea was very good value for money, very filling and yes we were absolutely stuffed. The staff are very friendly and cheerful. It was very relaxing we did not feel like we had rushed. It was also very clean and tidy. Even though it was cold outside, it was lovely and warm inside. Just remember it is easier to book in advance, also you can let staff know any dietary needs.
