The fish and chips here vastly improved my impression of Ashbourne! Arrived at the zero food hour of 2pm on an August summer afternoon. After finding several places closed and not serving food we stumbled into the oasis of the Greenman hotel! Had amazing fish and chips and a pint or two of Estrella! It was very tasty and just what we needed. Keep it up all at the Greenman! Thanks - I'm ready for a sleep now - I understand that they have accommodation too! Highly recommend IMHO.

A friend visited for Fathers Day and recommended to us. We had lunch on Wednesday 13 September. Restaurant was busy with visitors and also a vintage car club. Nice Bar, cosy dining room and plenty of verandah and garden seating. A very nice clean hotel and publican very attentive. Partner had the Prawn & Crab Pasta. I had the Pork BBQ ribs. Both meals very good. Publican recommended the house Shiraz and it was quite OK. All In all a nice place for a good meal. Well done to Publican & Staff.

This was our third visit to The Greenman Inn. The menu felt a little more reduced this time however, the choice of food available was varied and included a nice selection of fish dishes. It is fair to say the food is of a consistently high standard on all our visits. However, the service felt rushed despite the restaurant not appearing to be overly busy and several occasions we had to ask to slow down the service. Despite this another enjoyable evening !

This is a traditional coaching inn on the main street - still with it's name over the road. We visited just for afternoon drinks. Decent range available. There is pleasant outdoor seating. Clearly quite popular with locals

The entrance is tucked at the back of the courtyard, approached through the arch from the main road. The signs give no indication of the simple, sharp but homely reassurance behind. The bar area had a lovely hub-bub atmosphere, people meeting for pre-dinner drinks. The bar staff were quick to serve and happy on a Busy Saturday night to slot us in for early dining. The menu was simple, I would describe it as “a man’s menu”, not too many choices whilst varied sufficiently to whet the appetite. I opted for venison whilst my partner chose cod cheek scampi. Due to the most delicious food arriving before us neither even thought to take a photo, but a Wow! Would sum up the experience - beautifully presented, perfect, flavoursome, delicious are just some of the words we used to describe our meals. We would both highly recommend the restaurant and would also like to thank the most attentive staff for making our evening special

Asked a waiter if we had to order at the bar after waiting for over 15 minutes. Told he would be with us in a minute. After another 10 minutes another waiter said they were no longer serving food. He said it was our fault for sitting at a table. I think it was because the chef wanted to watch England vs Wales.

Stumbled across this gem whilst walking along the high street in Ashbourne. We booked for Sunday lunch as the venue and menu were different from anything else we could see in the town. We are glad we did! We were able to book an outside table for the 4 of us (including two teenagers). The food was clearly of quality and cooked with skill but it was the front of house team that made the difference. They were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Thank you!

A wonderful Sunday Lunch, relaxed atmosphere and exceptional food with friendly service and extras for our daughter I wasn’t going to order a starter but I’m so glad I did - I ordered the Goosnargh Duck Liver Parfait with dried grapes, baby fig, px sherry and hazelnuts The parfait was super smooth and the sherry made the dish really stand out, it was absolutely delicious Our daughter was treated to double yorkshire puddings, the 18hr lamb shoulder was melt in your mouth tender and impeccable and extra gingerbread men biscuits in chocolate ice cream for little one’s dessert Always a pleasure to dine here, a lovely friendly atmosphere and absolutely perfect food Thank You!

The restaurant was welcoming on a very rainy Friday night. They had noted our special date from the booking and brought a complimentary glass of Prosecco to us on arrival. The service was sharp, businesslike and attentive with no detail missed. The food was freshly cooked, being great on the eye, and even better on the palate. The sourdough bread and home churned butter complemented the superb fresh sardines and tomatoes in our starter, and all were delightfully arranged on the plate. The house Merlot was served in wafer thin glasses and was in a perfect temperate condition. The linen and table setting were immaculate and the staff knew their craft well. The ambience was romantic yet contemporary. We will definitely revisit in the future and would recommend the restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food cooked by skilled chefs, well served by staff who care about service.

Ashbourne is a quiet tiny town that most people would blink and miss, so it was a surprise to find a quality place to eat here. Recently completely renovated, the atmosphere was great, inside and outside areas, meals delicious and good priced.

Today we went for the first time. The pub itself looks charming. The customer server was well below par. The meals were not as we ordered, and two meals arrived 20 mintues after the first meal (We ordered at the same time). We ordered a jug of (flat) diet coke which filled 3 glasses cost $22. When I questioned the staff we were told that, that is the cost as there is ice at the bottom?I would not return. I would advise you not to either.Terrible experience and atmosphere.

The drive through Adelaide Hills to Greenman Inn at Ashbourne was very beautiful. Our family birthday celebration for 14 people was easily catered for by the extensive menu for guests ranging from 8 months to 80 years, including meal choice for one guest with diverse food constraints. Well done chef. The decor is austere in a very old 1800's building with painting renovations in progress. The friendly service and relaxing warm atmosphere added to the occasion, making a very enjoyable day out for lunch. We will be pleased to visit again.

I am really sorry to give this rating but as a Inn/Pub food safety should be the 1st priority. The staff were friendly and the food was ok but the major problem i had was the cleanliness of the pub. Rustic look and old charm is great but the place has to be clean. There were cobwebs everywhere and we were seated next to the window and i was appalled to see dead insects and droppings on the window pane! Something from the wall fell on my plate as well! This place seriously need to be renovated and CLEANED before anyone gets sick from the food!

In a unique rustic 1860s pub, we found a warm welcome, friendly service, and an interesting conversation about everything and nothing. While we waited for our fresh food to be prepared, as distinct from our frozen food to be thawed, we engaged the barman in conversation about local history, and received accurate and thoughtful advice.

Charming Cafe it is. The coffee is very good. The photos of table laid with cutlery and napkins and lovely decor enticed us drive out to Monsal Head where we know the views are wonderful to have a light lunch. BUT We sat at a table and although the place was empty ( very rainy outside ) the staff didn’t acknowledge us, say hello even or explain it is counter service only. If you are expecting food, think again. No meals, No sandwiches, No baked potatoes or anything substantial, just a few cakes, savoury pies and sausage rolls Most disappointing. Wasted journey. WILL NOT VISIT AGAIN. Hassop Station nearby saved the day fortunately.

We were staying close by so popped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Service was a little slow initially and they did get my own order wrong, however the manager could not have been more apologetic so first class customer service. The food was lovely when it arrived and the coffee was great also.

We recently stayed locally for two nights and ate at the Miner’s Arms both nights. Nic was so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious on the first night but on bonfire night, we ordered the greedy Greek platter on Nic’s recommendation and it was excellent! Delicious food, really dog friendly and very welcoming. We’ll be back!
