We liked this little cafe, finding it friendly and serving a good cup of tea (both decaf & normal). We went back again after another walk the next day & also sampled the baking which was good. Importantly for us it was open late afternoon during half term week when other places weren't.

We have been using this cafe for years, although haven't been for a few months. I can only assume that this has changed owners, as the usual cheery staff weren't there, nor were the usual items on the menu, ie home made pies etc. Instead, there was a member of staff who obviously wasn't happy in her job and it just didn't look the same! I ordered a simple beef sandwich on thick cut granary bread and the OH ordered a beef, cheese and chutney toasted sandwich. It took an inordinate amount of time to arrive, bearing in mind that we were the only customers in the place. When it did, my sandwich was on a very dry bread-cake with home made coleslaw, where the mayo was so thin that it leaked out of the onion, cabbage etc and covered the plate, making the sandwich soggy underneath. However, that wasn't the only problem, the very small amount of beef in my sandwich had somehow been grilled or fried, so that the thin pieces of beef were like shoe leather - what was that all about - it didn't say anything about wanting a hot roast beef sandwich? I did, of course, point that I hadn't asked for a hot sandwich and would they change it. Apparently the beef in my OH's toasted sandwich had been done the same way. They replaced my sandwich, but quite honestly, we couldn't wait to get out and, needless to say, we won't be returning. I can't remember when I put a 'terrible' score on TA, but this really warranted it!

No as good as last year, disappointed. Shame won't be back. Went for lunch and from what it was like this time last year very disappointed. Sausage is not if same quality. And the falafel were microwaved to been bone dry. Will be avoiding for rest if trip here. The Mediterranean platter was very good last year with wide selection items. Photos hopefully show this.

A group of us used this place regularly for breakfast when we stayed here three years ago. As we were walking nearby we decided to return. Used to have friendly young staff and very good food. We walked in and were told the coffee machine was broken, no big deal. Sat down and perused the menu. Kept looking over at the woman behind the counter but no response. After ten minutes, I noticed that the front of the menu said to order at the counter. Would it really have hurt her to mention it? There were no other customers. Ordered breakfasts with tea. When she brought the teas out, she put them down without a word. A man came in and ordered a bacon roll, he waited outside for a good ten minutes before it came. Our breakfasts arrived and were okay but nothing special. Again, barely a word said when she delivered them. Paid the bill and she went off to talk in the kitchen. We wanted to get some pies or cakes to take away, but after waiting another few minutes we gave up and left. We were all really disappointed at how much the place had declined. Really not acceptable customer service.

We visited this little cafe because my dad was hungover, and we were taking the dogs on a “quick walk”. We sat down inside as dogs were welcome, and had a delicious hearty breakfast (my dad had a fry up and tea, and I had an egg cob - a type of sarnie - and orange juice). The staff were friendly and the food was piping hot and well cooked. Price wise, it was not cheap but certainly not expensive, and worth every penny. The food had a “homemade” feel, and was not greasy or cheap tasting. Overall recommend strongly!

I telephoned ahead to see if i could make a booking for 16 people on a Monday morning. The booking was accepted and the owner said that he would reserve the whole of the upstairs for us. When we arrived the place was already pretty busy but the two young waitresses were super attentive and extremely efficient. They weren't phased by 16 of us ordering different things and the numerous changes of mind that occurred. The food arrived quicker than we anticipated and was absolutely delicious and great value too. I cant fault this place or the staff in any way. We will definitely be back when were next in the area.

This place punches well above its weight... we had sandwiches but they were just much better than sandwiches usually are... I had goat's cheese and beetroot and, let's put it this way, we went back twice later in the week to buy more of the goat's cheese, it was meltingly brilliant. The rocky road is seriously better than any I've had anywhere else and I am a bit of a lover of the stuff! Went back for more of this, too :-)

On the plus side dogs are welcome, unlike the more popular nearby cafe, however 45 minute wait for cooked breakfast really not warranted and by then our hot drinks had long since been drunk. We popped in here twice during our recent stay in Tideswell, both times for coffee and a cake. Very friendly service and our two dogs were welcomed indoors to the ground floor seating area with no fuss. Very nice cake selections and excellent coffee, plus the cafe has free wifi, which is very helpful given the general lack of mobile reception in the area! We were able to check a couple of websites for walks and attractions while there! We also left with some very nice cheese from the deli counter to take home, including a wonderful black smoked cheddar. Although we only had coffee and cake, there is a good breakfast and lunch menu that includes a good selection of vegetarian items. We went here today, and were welcomed brilliantly. Our elderly disabled grandmother had doors opened and things moved out the way to help her and the wheelchair in.Unfortunately we were disappointed with the food and the waitress forgot a couple of things, like water for the table and brown bread instead of white. My Greek salad was supposed to come with pitta and instead was with a toasted wrap. And the chicken fajita was advertised as both a salad and a ciabatta but came in a wrap... The dish of the day was also not even a thing, perhaps because it was a not so busy weekday. And the microwaved Bakewell pudding was quite stale. The coffee was good though and it looks like a great place to get a takeaway or an icecream. It's also got a nice light coming in to the place to sit in and the pie with gravy was pretty good and well priced. I'd recommend going to H&D up the road instead...

Went for a late-ish Saturday morning breakfast (available all day). Can safely say it was the best fried breakfast I've ever eaten. Offered in two sizes - the smaller, with bacon, egg, sausage, beans, mushrooms, tomato, a huge wedge of delicious toast and tea was ample. I had extra black pudding too and it was spectacular. Ordinarily just the thought of mushrooms makes me want to cry but these looked so great even I was persuaded to try a few. Served absolutely piping hot. Proper leaf tea in a pot and milk in a sweet little individual churn. Read the papers whilst you wait for it to be cooked to order. Fantastic.

We finally visited Tideswell recently, after seeing a programme about its community-led School of Food several years ago. What a disappointment to find a notice pinned to the door saying that the School has regrettably had to close. And sadly, on a soggy November day, the town seemed a little forlorn and with few tempting lunch venues. This was confirmed by a local of 30 years when we sat down in the cosy Peak District Parlour.....she mentioned plenty of other eating places have also closed down in recent years. The Parlour opened early in 2014, and used to be the dairy. It's small but perfectly formed, with a few tables downstairs where the locals were congregating and a larger upstairs space for busier times.Service was with a smile and they offer a range of food in or for takeaway, sourced locally wherever possible. Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable. The tuna and cheese toastie was tasty & substantial.I hope they succeed, and turn the tide back in favour of the community.

Charming Cafe it is. The coffee is very good. The photos of table laid with cutlery and napkins and lovely decor enticed us drive out to Monsal Head where we know the views are wonderful to have a light lunch. BUT We sat at a table and although the place was empty ( very rainy outside ) the staff didn’t acknowledge us, say hello even or explain it is counter service only. If you are expecting food, think again. No meals, No sandwiches, No baked potatoes or anything substantial, just a few cakes, savoury pies and sausage rolls Most disappointing. Wasted journey.
