Excellent food and service. Toilets very clean, which is always a good sign!

Excellent night at the wheatsheaf we was late in arriving yet Sean and the team couldn’t be more accommodating the food was lovely there was no complaints. I had spoken to Sean on the phone the previous night and had explained how it was two of the girls birthdays and he went above and beyond to put our decorations and had a special candle on the cake and played happy birthday on the speaker when he brought it out. Lovely experience will revisit

Had lunch from the Sunday menu, the burger was very tasty just don't have breakfast before. Steak and Ale pie was full of meat and gravy and lovely. The feta salad was great and the honey dressing had a tasty kick. All in all a lovely lunch out

Excellent service, particularly by Charlotte. Even though the pub was extremely busy, we were served promptly, the food was good and the atmosphere was very calm.

We are tourists and have been traveling around England for 35 days. We dropped by on 5 Sept 2024 after a bus tour and were attracted by the restaurant’s nice outlook. We decided to have lunch there. My husband ordered the signature burger while I ordered the steak. Both dishes are bad, especially my husband’s burger. The minced meat inside is dry and charred with unchewable substances. My steak is also dry and overdone. It’s the worst eating experience we have ever had in England. The 2 dishes plus two hot tea cost us £47.5 which is too much for such bad food. We do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

A friend and I popped into the Wheatsheaf for a light lunch after a nice morning on our motorbikes. The welcome we got was very friendly, and we were shown to a table straight away, and given menus. Both of us chose the chicken BLT sandwich, one on white and mine on granary. We thought it was a bit pricey for a sandwich, but when the plates came we saw why. Lovely, well filled, large bps with a full salad and crisps. Unusually this pub uses freshly baked local bread and it shows. I have to say I had the best sandwich I have bought in ages, and is worth the money 10/10 . Sean our waiter was attentive and polite. We left feeling very happy. Thanks everyone.

The food was lovely, all cooked fresh and was so tasty. Atmosphere nice and lovely customer service. We had the chicken and chorizo pasta which was lovely. Also very dog friendly which is great!

Disappointed. Chips were very dry and the fish was over cooked. I told the them and he said the chef will look into it. Half an hour later still no response. Very disappointed.

It's quite a good pub with friendly staff. The waitress was very helpful when we said we couldn't use one of their tables with the bar-type seats as my partner wouldn't be able to hold her guide dog. She managed to find us a more conventional table near the bar. You order food at the bar and it is served to your table. The food was good with decent portions although it did seem a bit expensive. There was interesting art work in the bar and a sign for the toilets that is definitely unusual!

Food was brilliant. Service from Jude was absolutely excellent. Good music choices too. Also accommodated gluten free.

Cosy and relaxing space even tho it was fairly busy on a Tuesday evening. Nice food and good service. Very dog friendly - treats served and available to buy at the bar!

Rocked up for our booking at 6.30 with our family and waited for ages to be acknowledged at the entrance. Taken to our table and told that 3 items off the menu, one being pies. It was “Pie Day” and they had no pies. Couldn’t make it up. The menu is limited and very expensive. Another family walked in and had a quick glance at the menu then left. We did the same. Staff weren’t especially pleasant. No wonder it’s got very mixed reviews. Went to the Red Lion and staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. Had a great meal with much better prices. Hate leaving bad reviews but I would give this place a wide berth

I visited your restaurant last night with my family while we were away, and unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. While the food was generally nice, we found it to be quite expensive for what we received. Additionally, we had someone in our party who is both gluten and dairy-free, and we appreciated that you asked about allergens when we ordered. We were assured that the classic burger could be adapted to meet these requirements, with the removal of cheese and mayo and the use of a gluten-free bun, as advertised on your menu. However, within a few hours, the person who ordered the gluten and dairy-free meal began to experience severe symptoms, indicating that something had gone wrong with the preparation of the food. This resulted in them being up all night, which was very distressing. Furthermore, a few others in our group who ordered the fish and chips also felt incredibly sick all night. Given that we were traveling back the next day, this situation put us in a very uncomfortable position. It’s really not acceptable, especially when dietary needs are communicated clearly and when the expectation is that the restaurant can accommodate them safely. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as the health and well-being of your customers should be a priority.

Best veggie road we've had! Our waiter Sahil was so kind!

Gorgeous, comfy, clean pub and nice staff but unbelievably slow. Standing in a queue for over 15 minutes to order a coffee that then takes another 20 minutes to arrive when it isn't particularly busy just isn't on. I'm not sure why they only had one person on the till taking breakfast orders for large groups and making cold drinks for everyone.

Three of us had sandwiches and we liked the fact it want just regular sliced bread, but a proper fresh bread roll.

My wife and I had fish and chips, it was very delicious with good portion sizes along with tasty chunky chips. The staff were very friendly and next time that we are at Bakewell, we will definitely go there again.

If I cook leave a zero star review I would. Ordered the chicken and chorizo pasta, took ages to turn up and when it did I thought it was some sort of prank. Gloopy pasta slopped in the middle of the bowl, served with their absolute joke of a garlic bread, which was the butt of a loaf of bread with some easy garlic spread over it. When I ordered it I thought it was going to be a very well presented dish and was hoping it was going to be enjoyable considered it was 17 quid. Ive never left a bad review for a restaurant but this was just unbelievable If you closed your eyes it didn't tast that bad but certainly not 17 pounds worth. Even wetherspoons wouldn't serve that crap that they served me. It's the poor excuse of the garlic bread that just finished it off for me. Given that I was starving after waiting so long for it, i ate it all. but any other situation I wouldn't sent it straight back. Finished it and instantly left after being insulted that much

Charlotte was the host and she was very friendly and polite when we arrived and gave some helpful suggestions from the menu. Josh the barman was very attentive. Great, friendly service with big smiles. We will be back!

Sahil provided excellent service during our meal, ensuring we were well taken care of without being intrusive. He was knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations that enhanced our dining experience. His friendly and professional attitude made the anfternoon even more enjoyable.

Just had 2 lovely roast lunches at the wheatsheaf. Pub is very nice, lovely staff (charlotte), relaxed atmosphere. Both the beef and pork roasts were delicious, only improvement I would say is more variety on vegetables would be appreciate.

If I could give this 1* I would. Food was absolutely awful. Spent £80 on 4 meals and 1 free kids meal. The ‘chicken and chorizo’ pasta came out without chicken 🤣. My ‘steak and Stilton’ ciabatta was the driest thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. I wasn’t aware we were on Stilton sauce rations in 2024. Picture attached speaks for its self. Mayo and salad was added by myself as it was inedible without asking for these. To top off our lovely lunch the garlic bread to go with the pasta come out 25 mins after we had finished eating. To which we were served a piece of toast with anaemia (yes actually sliced bread from the corner shop) with some garlic butter. All meals were awful. Manager didn’t even bother arguing she was embarrassed herself, but only refunded us 2 meals. Never to eat again

Great food, lovely kind staff, unfortunately we waited an hour for our food due to a POS system error, however they were very apologetic (especially Sahil) and had our food made very quickly.

Was a Lovely roast, a bit of an unnecessary amount of raw leeks on the plates, but service was amazing and the leeks brought a lot of humour to the meal with friends. Shout out to Charlotte for being an absolute GOAT! and Sahil for being amazing with the dips and extra 3 gravy’s! (and added smiles) xxxx

Great Sunday lunch, fantastic service at the table (had to wait a while for food but that doesn’t bother us as you know it’s freshly prepared and cooked, especially a Sunday lunch). Great Yorkies and brilliant gravy. Special mentions for Charlotte & Sahib

My parents were visiting me in the UK for the very first time and I took them to Bakewell. In Bakewell we had lunch at Wheatsheaf Pub. Great food, great atmosphere and Sahil, who served us, was very friendly. My mom also said so. Thank you ☺️

Served by Sahil at the wheatsheaf today with my parents. Had fish and chips which was absolutely gorgeous and massive portion sizes!! My dad had a steak and ordered a blue cheese sauce which due to a mistake on the till was brought out on the house. Will definitely be bsck when visiting bakewell again

Our waiter sahil was very attentive and happy for us to discuss anything we were not satisfied with. The chips were a little over cooked and fry for example. On a more positive note the fish was nice and fresh. Unfortunately the bakewell tart was not what we were expecting in that it was not traditional. See photo.

Charlotte was lovely very attentive and caring.. all the staff were really lovely. Sahil was kind too and caring too nothing was ever too much. Even the young guy that served us at the bar for T8. I would recommend the food as was lovely and the atmosphere was nice. 😊

We had a person with us who has an allergy to nuts and the servers were so attentive and careful of his needs. For him it was a joy to see them asking if he was OK and checking in on him, as he isn't used to that. The food was excellent and and atmosphere was calm and easy. Overall outstanding service and we couldn't praise it higher!! Hake was amazing!! Highly recommended!!

Very good taste in music, helped create a cheerful atmosphere. Also very considerate of allergies which put us at ease. Wait staff were helpful and friendly (we were served by Sahil and another woman). We were told a 30 minute, but got our food even faster which was good.

Great location. Fab team, incredibly helpful and friendly. Dogs made very welcome. We had an amazing Ploughman’s platter and Honey baked feta salad both really tasty. Highly recommend!

Arrived at 11.30 for lunch at the weekend for 3 of us and a dog. No problem getting a seat inside. Ordered food at 12, and it came quickly and was really good. Second time visiting and would definitely recommend it.

Popped into The Wheatsheaf after doing the ‘circular’ walk from Bakewell to Chatsworth House and back. Should have taken 4 hours - took us nearly 6 as we took a wrong turn! We were gasping for a drink when we got back, so were attracted to the outside seating at The Wheatsheaf. My wife never normally has a pint but she went for a pint of Aspall’s, to replace fluids and I had a Neck Oil. Super chap behind the bar who was intrigued by our monster walk! Sat outside watching the world go by and stayed for a second pint. Great pub, super team, chilled atmosphere. We’ll definitely head back when we’re next in The Peaks.

I've just read some of the reviews and most of them seem positive. Our experience of this pub wasn't very good. Not so much with the service but the quality of the food ! I opted for the veggie sweet potato roast which was tasteless. The roast potatoes were hard and the stuffing and vegetables were cold, all which were swimming in gravy. The Yorkshire pudd was rock hard. My husband had the fish and chips which was overcooked. I don't think we will be returning.

First time at the Wheatsheaf, lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff and great food. Good value for money and nice having the tables outside especially in the good weather. Lavak was very friendly on arrival and when collecting our plates and empties.

We preordered food for 2pm still had not arrived after an hour. The drinks took 40 minutes to come and was messed up

I've worked in hospitality and don't think I've ever come across anything so bad like today. 15 mins waiting to be seated as instructed by the sign, actually was here's a menu and sit anywhere (I could have done that myself in the first place) then it was a 20 minute wait to order food & drinks, service was very slow and the manager was standing watching it all happen 🤔 then was told it was a 45 minute wait on food which would have been okay if the pub was full but it wasn't even half full and half the food on the menu wasn't available, anyway the food came out and both our burgers looked and tasted like they had been on the grill for 45 minutes, the tiny teaspoon of coleslaw that was on the plate was also left under the hot plate for 45 minutes, at least the chips were edible. Think maybe staff training and a new chef is needed personally as I think even a dog would of refused the burger.

Just had a lovely big cheese and pickle sandwich with homemade chunky chips and had great service from Sahil 👍

We stopped at the Wheatsheaf while visiting Bakewell at about twenty past 11 on a hot (and increasingly busy) day. Although they didn't start serving "proper" food until 12pm (up until then they were just serving cakes) they were happy to let myself, Husband and daughters (10 and 7) sit in and order drinks while we waited for the time to pass. We whiled away the time by connecting to the free WiFi and reading the free local newspaper and rock magazine. We were able to pre-order our food (before 12pm) and were pleasantly surprised when our food arrived just after twelve. The portions were generous, of a high quality and felt homemade. We found the service (from all the staff including Charlotte) friendly and attentive without being overbearing and would definitely come back.

Absolutely lovely meal, the roast beef was done to perfection, Noah and Charlotte both amazing well mannered young adults credit to the team.
