Booked a table as requested online. However, when we arrived, we were seated in the bar area apposed to the restaurant area round to the back. Despite this, the bar was relatively quiet. The food was cooked to order, can highly recommend the steak pie, which my wife thoroughly enjoyed. I had the fish and chips, the fish was larger than expected, and tasted great, the only let down was that the batter was a little greasy on the underside, overall though a decent meal.

We have been here many times and love the pub for the food and the atmosphere. We were greeted and served by Charlotte and received excellent service. Would highly recommend this pub if you visit Bakewell.

I had a fantastic experience at this establishment. The food choices were plentiful and the meal I had was delicious. A particular standout was a member of staff by the name of Charlotte. Charlotte exceeded all expectations by provided exceptional service. Nothing was too much to ask and she added to the experience. 5 stars to the pub and 5 stars to Charlotte!

Good food, great service from Charlotte!

An order of soup, sandwich and a side of chips took 45 minutes! Had to go and ask, and then they said it would be 5 minutes more. "We need to plate the food." After 10 more minutes they brought some of the order. Had to ask again for the soup. How hard is soup: just ladle it into a bowl! Have to say, the food was good, and the staff all apologised, but still. Just say up front if there is a long delay.

We ordered 8 meals and to be honest it was terrible all food was cold no taste clearly cheap food at high prices KEEP AWAY PLENTY OF OTHER PLACES IN THIS AREA

Had an awful experience at The Wheatsheaf Pub and Pantry in Bakewell today. I’ve visited a few times before because it’s easily accessible, but this visit was a complete nightmare. I only wanted a drink with my family, and yes, it was busy, but both members of the bar staff saw me waiting with my mum and still decided to serve people who arrived after me. The only conclusion I can draw is that it’s because I’m a wheelchair user. What made it worse was that they made eye contact with me and then carried on ignoring me. It was degrading and made me feel less than human. If you’re a wheelchair user, I’d strongly suggest avoiding this place. The staff were rude and ignorant, and they completely ruined our family day out. No one deserves to be treated like that. __________________________________ I'm adding a reply to Tom's comments here because Google doesn't give you that option: Hi Tom, Thanks for getting back to me. I just want to be clear about a few things. Since the initial email from management, I’ve tried to arrange a phone call, but I’ve been completely ignored. It honestly feels like that first emails I received back were just lip service, and I’m not convinced the training you mentioned will actually happen. What’s even more frustrating is that the same staff member who ignored me on Boxing Day had done the same earlier in the year when the pub was much quieter, but I didn't think much of it the first time. Busy or not, there’s absolutely no excuse for ignoring me simply because I’m a wheelchair user. If you look at the CCTV again, you will see that a group of 5 people walked in off the street and were served straight away, one in th group was a woman in a white/cream coloured coat, with blonde hair. To then have my follow-up email ignored just shows that accessibility really isn’t a priority for the pub, management, or certain staff members. If someone had replied to my last email, I wouldn’t feel this way now. I hope you’ll take this on board and make some genuine changes because it’s not just about me, it’s about ensuring everyone feels welcome and valued when they visit.

Great food and friendly service in a lovely location and at a fair price. Breakfast and evening meals were excellent.

Everything about our visit was fabulous. Everyone was warm and friendly - Eliza especially. Our meals were absolutely delicious - would definitely recommend a visit. Dogs are welcome.

Landlady was very warm and welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding in quality and portion size. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Fantastic food, fabulous athmosphere and the service that Charlotte provided was second to none, we had not booked but,it was new years and she managed to accommodate our party of 8 humans and 6 dogs.

Love the Wheatsheaf at Bakewell, very tasty roast dinners and the gravy is the just delicious 👌🏼 friendly staff, and were amazing even though the place was packed! Our pooch was well looked after, love dog friendly places! Charlotte was the best and made firm friends with our dog 😊 we will be back!

Charlotte and Isabelle were great, made us feel very welcome. Brilliant hosts. Bar staff were friendly and fast and the food we ordered came quickly, was piping hot and really tasty. The pub has a great atmosphere with comfortable seats, an open fire and plenty of seating which wasn't cramped. Recommend this 100%

Came for breakfast, lots of gluten free options. Had a bacon sandwich with an egg on GF toast - delish! Charlotte served us, she was so lovely and amazing service!

Food was amazing, great sized portions and a huge range of food options. Charlotte was lovely and informed us of the menu changes.

Stopped in for lunch and had the battered fish fillet sandwich. Quite busy but fast service and great food Isabelle and Charlotte were very friendly and helped us find our table.

Had a lovely experience having breakfast on Boxing Day, the staff were really friendly and helpful, especially Charlotte who went above and beyond to tend to our needs as we were a big group of 10. The food was really good, I had a sausage and egg sandwich with black pudding which was very nice. It was all round a very pleasant experience for all of us!

Headed here for a couple of drinks yesterday and had a great time. We all tried drinks we've not had before. Amazing selection. Really nice staff too. Lovely bar, great TV and sports selection. I wish we had something like this local. Just amazing, would definitely visit again.

Great atmosphere. I wasn’t convinced on the cinnamon in the braised cabbage and felt that the Sunday dinner needed so something green on it. The free kids meal (fish and chips) made it all worth while. So we will be back. Great that dogs are allowed too

This pub is an excellent choice when you visit Bakewell. The breakfast was excellent as were the chunky chips we had at quiz night on Friday. A special mention to the very friendly and professional staff who were so welcoming when we went in during our 2 nights there, especially Sean who made us laugh all night long and even popped in on his day off to say goodbye to Charlie Wolf(haha). All in all this pub and its staff are an asset to Bakewell

what a lovely pub. Best in Bakewell by far. I have to give a big shout out to the wonderful Sean who made our visit excellent. a definite asset to the pub without a doubt. we had a proper laugh with him. every member of staff I spoke to was welcoming and polite. Lee made me a very nice Irish Coffee too. the Christmas quiz on Friday night was good(apart from the music round..lol). Thanks for a wonderful couple of days and keep up the fantastic job you all do. also the manager who was a lovely lady needs a mention as she was exceptional. have a lovely Christmas and New Year. Dog friendly pub! Popped in for a bit of lunch, great food and portions. Service at the bar was a bit hit and miss, but overall nice warm, festive space and would reccomend. I think bit pricey but it’s Bakewell and in the centre so understand why.

Had a fantastic meal whilst out Christmas shopping. Jacob who served us our meal was fantastic and very helpful.

Food and restaurant services were excellent couldn't fault that, big shout out to Owen great service from him.. The bar service on the other hand was simply not good enough, not really the staff's fault tbh, just not enough staff on duty and food had to be ordered at the bar along with your drinks, considering the place was about 95% full, I reckon that was a real own goal. Annoying when you wait 10 mins in a queue to be told ohh we have sold out of a certain dessert. However again I will stress the food was really good and restaurant service was spot on.

Food was okay at Best, not particularly warm and the Roast beef was like shoe leather!...what let it down was service, woefully slow, got in early and booking was for Sunday dinner at 3....prebooked menu and nothing came out until gone 4, deserts took forever, left at 6! 3 hours to serve a 2 course meal.

Disappointing food. Fish and chips looked OK but the batter was undercooked and three of us ate the fish and left the batter. They offered a replacement which we refused and accepted a discount and free coffee. A nice place, not busy on Monday, market day. I am not surprised if this quality of food is regularly served.

Lovely pub in great location in bakewell town centre. Easy parking close by. Great breakfast with good quality ingredients. Lovely friendly staff. Very cosy and christmassy.

Had a fantastic Sunday dinner. Staff were all really friendly & attentive, particularly Oscar. Family & dog friendly, lovely atmosphere& the food was really good.

We received a friendly welcome from Owen who politely accommodated our party of 9 ladies. Lee and Tom kindly organised and served our drinks and Sean served us at the table. The food was very tasty and excellent value for money and the atmosphere was extremely friendly. I would recommend The Wheatsheaf to anyone visiting Bakewell and hope to return in the future. Many thanks to the above mentioned staff.

Delicious food but it took a while considering how quiet it was. Upon arrival we were told bluntly that there was no table service or tabs. We felt that considering how expensive the menu was, we would expect table service and a warmer welcome.

Our server Owen was fantastic. It was my mother in laws birthday and he made her so special - would definitely recommend Owen at the Wheatsheaf to anyone x x

Ok, the main part of the pub is really lovely and cosy looking but the other dinner area just felt like an overflow area, dinning hall! Food was basic and over priced really!

The pub looked inviting and a good place for a warm and lunch on a cold November Wednesday afternoon. Once inside we were given menus and asked to take a seat of our choice. The pub had a few visitors inside but wasn’t overly busy. There was a lovely log fire on the go and was nice a toasty inside. We looked at the menus which did seem a little pricey £18 for burger and chips and £15 for spicy pasta. Prior to ordering we heard a couple on the table In Front of us complain about the fact they had not had their food yet! The male member of staff said it was because they had ordered the pie and it takes 30 minutes to cook ? We continued to place our order of signature Burger & chips and pasta….. 45 minutes later and several drinks later still no food. I asked the male if there was a problem with the food today as we had ordered 45 minutes ago and still no food or explanation as to the delay. This is burger and chips and pasta surely not that difficult or time consuming to cook? A short time after ( 55 minutes in total) our food arrived.. My wife’s pasta was inedible as it was hard,the chickpea and peppers were all that she could eat from the spicy pasta for the main she had chosen. My Burger was good but certainly not with the wait or £18 price tag. All in all we felt poor service and overpriced food.

We went on a Christmas market day .It was extremely busy. But definitely worth calling in .

Staff were lovely and attentive, Christmas music playing to make a nice atmosphere but the chefs let the place down big time the food was awful. Fries so over done they were hollow inside and really crunchy. My chicken BLT had one tiny slither of rock hard bacon. Kids pizza is just a microwave pizza by the looks of it and my friends £15 pasta I could have made at home in under 5 minutes it was literally just penne pasta peppers and chickpeas! Presented terribly honestly looked like something you’d make at home for a quick easy meal. Really a shame as last time we came here which was a few Christmases ago I remember the food being lovely but it was really rubbish today!

It was busy and the kitchen and bar staff coped admirably.

We visited the Wheatsheaf for breakfast with Santa for the second year in a row. The interactions with santa are fab and so is the food! It’s really reasonably priced and the tables are full of activities as well as the gift from santa! The best breakfast with Santa we’ve been too!

Very nice menu, food is very well presented and is very nice. The services at the bar are slow, and there is no facility to order on an App at the table. Other than this, the pub is fantastic.

Had a four day break in Bakewell with my wife....hotel great....The wheatsheaf even better...Shawn the manager and his staff always went the extra mile to make you feel welcome, the friendliest team I've come across....also the food and drinks are just spot on.....made to feel welcome.....thanks again guys, see you when we come back Chris and Susanne x

I had such a great time eating at this pub. All the staff members were really friendly, polite and professional. They were very hardworking and accommodating, checking in on us to make sure everything was good. I was very impressed by their service. The food was also amazing, we ordered fish and chips and ale pie. My fish and chips was HUGE, it’s not a seaside town but fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. The batter was crispy and light, wasn’t oily at all. Chips were potatoey and nice. 10/10 The atmosphere was fantastic as well, it was so clean everywhere and loved the decor. Such a beautiful pub. Outside the windows were so scenic as well, enjoyed everything about this place! I’d love to see how the pub looks like in winter with the fireplace on. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area (you should try their food) and will be back very soon!
