Costa Coffee in Derbyshire Dales

Seems another place google has wiped of my history. They do know everything.

it was 5pm they were closing at 6pm so we're clearing up, large area closed off understandably to get cleared and mopped, cleaned away ready for closing. only complaint was air conditioning is far too high, only tables available were right underneath it, I was perished. Nice cakes, nice lattes...find costa has gone quite expensive though...4.25 for a slice of carrot cake 🫢 I guess it's expensive everywhere now though.

As a regular visitor to Costa Coffee, I find all of their establishments very welcoming staff are always friendly service is excellent love the vast choice of Coffee and food on offer

Birthday treat for myself I have not been to this Costa for over five years, and the staff are as friendly as ever. One staff member who was there when I lived in Matlock recognised me and asked how I was. That felt wonderful.

. . . I like going here for some time out as I find the young staff friendly and helpful; it's amazing what you receive if you are polite and grateful. I love lemon drizzle cake and their Sicilian lemon muffin is yummy! It's a bonus if the comfy seats are available in the window.

Very polite staff and prompt service. Store is well located and food was of decent quality when I visited.

Pleasant half-hour as we passed through Matlock.

Simple order….Latte with Caramel shot and a pot of Earl Grey. Order taken by Tasha M ok. The Barista… well embarista! Muttering under her breath, not another tea. Lady before had also ordered a pot of tea…no tea pots available….think there were in 5 other customers in! I jokingly said “I could have brought one from home”….not any acknowledgement whatsoever. She did latte, placed it on the tray…”has it got the caramel shot”? Checked receipt…Big sigh 😔 shot added. “I’ll bring the drinks over” she said. They arrived and tea was English breakfast! I take it back “what’s wrong with it” …harshly said. “It should be Earl Grey”….no sorry … just a “leave it there and I’ll bring it over”. Attitude is everything and sadly this was an epic fail Mr Costa!

Was shocked to pay £7.60 for 2 small cappuccinos, thankfully I found another place 2 minutes walk away called bod £3.20 instead of £3.80 for the same sort of coffee and far nicer. This costa store has a peculiar layout although the staff were friendly.

Understand it’s very busy but we were in front of the queue and the lady behind got served first. Don’t understand why, but seems a bit pathetic. The drink was disgusting too. Only half filled. Pointless visit.

Always let you order and PAY for food on the app. Then when you go to collect your food they tell you they don’t have it in stock.

Staff are super friendly and patient . Cosy atmosphere overlooking the the main Matlock roundabout. A 40m parking is nearby or park at Marks and Spencers for a settled experience.

Prices are becoming prohibitive ... Food and coffee normal standard but soo expensive now. We don't stop for a second brew anymore.

Three young girls messing around at back of counter. Took 15 minutes for them to make our drinks and then the iced tea wasn't even cold. No idea of hygiene either. Rude and ignorant staff. No hope if they can't even do basic maths to work out the change due.

Placed the order for two drinks ,waited over our turn ,as to people behind us getting served before us isn't fair. Whoever is in charge get your staff to do there job correctly, thank you.

The staff in here were the friendliest most efficient I have ever experienced in a Costa... they had a fantastic rappore with each other and with the customers - it created a fantastic vibe.. Keep up the fantastic work and fantastic attitude- we need more of this out and about in the world - I would definitely return :-)

So, I’m not one to leave a review for a costa.. but I just want to say how incredibly nice and welcoming the ladies are at this costa. There’s about 3-4 ladies working this morning, and they are all super lovely, very nice and chatty. It’s great to see it!

Always enjoy grabbing a coffee from here when we are in Matlock. It was busy there today and the staff we very preoccupied took 3 attempts to get the order right.

Standard Costa but in a lovely town

I had Cappuccino and was absolutely disgusting and in top to that is really expensive. Can't beat greggs cappuccino

The staff in matlock Costa are very friendly, helpful and extremely hands on. They timed my drink and toastie perfectly today and their customer service was great. I particularly liked the girl who was singing away to Christmas tracks because it shows that someone is enjoying their day which makes me enjoy mine even more x definitely recommend this place x

Friendly and quick service today

Two toilets, one always seems to be bout of order. No fresh gluten free cakes, just a couple of uninspiring, overpriced packet bits. Place is a bit run down. On the plus side, the staff are very nice and it was a lovely latte

A regular visitor to costa coffee shops. But I wont be returning to this one anytime soon. The staff were the most unwelcoming and miserable. Slow service. Serving others before me after my order had been taken. I had to ask if they had forgotten me. No problem with the coffee once I got it.

I understand it was ten minutes before closing when I visited; however, the staff were more interested in cleaning up then serving. No personality from till operator and not a word from the lady making the drinks. Overall a poor experience. Unlikely to visit again. Not recommended.

Literally the worst place to get coffee in Bakewell. Visit the Lime Lounge instead... nicer building, nicer location and nicer management. Seriously, the Lime Lounge is leagues ahead of costa and also serves much nicer food.

Costa is Costa whoever you go. Only the speed of service varies which is does here!

Lovely staff. Our favourite place to sit in for a coffee. My daughter loves the cakes and biscuits here. She loves the smoothies/iced smoothies. Always tip, staff deserve it they work hard to make you happy. They Have a great range at great price.

Coffee was watered down and they burnt one side of my toasty and the other side was anaemic, try flipping it! Disappointed

Popped in for takeout coffee and was tempted by the lemon drizzle cake. What a good choice, so tasty and moist. Hearing my partner and I deciding to share one piece between us (trying to lose lockdown weight!) The girl serving us offered to cut the slice of cake in half. The coffees were lovely. Staff were wearing ppe and cleaning as they worked. They have sanitizing stations for customers and are giving out sugar/sweetener satchets to individual customers rather than having people rummage in a container to get them. Felt they were doing all they could to keep things safe for customers. And you get service with a smile!

Good customer service, always friendly and well made drinks by the baristas. Disappointing that they always close 15-20 minutes earlier than the proclaimed closing time. Would suggest adjusting their closing times on Google and their website to allow customers to come in with enough time to order. Turned up on two occasions where they were closed 15 mins before the normal closing time that is displayed outside their store and on Google.

Service a bit slow sometimes but overall good.

Well they don't sell steak and chips yet, but one day they will.

It seemed cleaner than on my last visit. Staff were friendly, reasonable precautions taken to support social distancing. My only negative points is there is never any free to park spaces and no drive thru, and always a queue. An extra member of staff might really make a difference.

If you need a bite to eat after 2:30pm in Matlock. We tried to support local businesses but got turned away at every turn.

Staff always pleasant and busy with their duties. Excellent covid controls and hygiene. Popular particularly at lunch times. Ample seating on two floors and outside. Ample car parking spaces.

Requested latte extra hot and got warm. Also why can baristas nationwide not make full servings, which is what I pay for and therefore expect. Does the company encourage this practice during training and in order to boost profits?

I had a medium Americano for a change. Was quite nice,not as bitter as it can be sometimes.

The staff were very friendly and working hard, adjusting to new environment. Food and drinks excellent, ppe worn by staff and most customers, sanitation station on entering. It was a very busy Sunday afternoon but, the staff were attentive and were getting tables ready for their customers. Doing an exceptional job. Would definitely visit again.

Clean Costa with good safety measures in place. I would have enjoyed a coffee there unfortunately after queueing I was told they had run out of decaf so I had to look elsewhere.

We all know costas and the like but this one is somewhat characterless and only has one loo - it serves the standard stuff. You cannot sit down and chill out as the queue and doorways make it a bit busy

Mel. The woman serving was awful. We were 15 minutes getting served. She was slow and very rude. She just couldn't be bothered with customers. Not the best experience.

'Mel' took a ridiculous amount of time to make 2 cups of coffee! Chatting away to the other boy who was leant with head in hands on counter totally ignoring other waiting customers. Clearly has no good work ethic. Cant multitask?? How is she a barista. My father asked where the chocolate shaker was as she just threw it on with her hands. Her reply was "in wash" with a cocky expression. Never have we had such shoddy service in a Costa. This needs seriously addressing!

Conveniently placed in town, parking can be an issue, restrictions on street.

The manager was rude to her staff, the staff members themselves very friendly. Coffee quality can vary.

Great Costa to stop between shopping in Matlock

Good Coffee, but not any real danger of the friendly staff breaking the sound barrier, though quicker than our last visit.

I was served by Nadiene very pleasantly greeted lovely personality. A guy working the floor very proficient the place was spotless would definitely go back again.

Some of the staff are lovely, one is shockingly bad at customer service and I now check through the window first to see if she's working, if she is I go to Gregg's which has lovely, friendly staff.

We have travelled from Cleethorpes to see our sister who has just moved to Matlock. Such a lovely place but do not go to Costa for a coffee! Shelley who served us was lovely, but Mel who was working with her was rude to us, rude to the other staff, pushed past the other staff, shouted at other staff across the shop, muttered under her breath, glared at us for seeming shocked at her attitude and was generally obnoxious! I’m so shocked Mel is working with the public, she certainly should not be! I feel sorry for the other staff in the shop. Wholly inappropriate. I’m so disappointed we wasted money there.

Coffee is awful, better to visit a local independent coffee store rather than Costas pretence of one.
