We needed a snack and a break on a 5 hour journey from Norfolk to Cheshire. Externally it's an unusual building, but the cafe itself is well laid out, and has interesting decor. We were given a lovely welcome, and chose from an interesting menu. I enjoyed the Special which was a large hunk of baguette with fried eggs, sausages and bacon. There was plenty of it and it was tasty, and very reasonably priced. Our coffees were a bit disappointing by comparison, but overall we were pleased to have stopped there.

We went to Spalding on this lovely sunny morning to the market. The wonderful and very special Carillon was playing, ringing out across the market place and we popped into the Café on the Square inside the South Holland Centre for a coffee and a late breakfast. Well, nearly lunch! (Breakfast is served until 12 noon). We both had a breakfast brioche. Lincolnshire sausage patty layered with bacon and topped with a fried egg in a large and very delicious brioche bun. Probably not the sort of breakfast for every day (!) but super tasty for a treat - the food was lovely, the staff were so pleasant and helpful and the coffee was very good too. Thank you Courtney and Mike and Bailey. And it was very reasonably priced. You can sit in this 1st floor café and look out over the market place and people watch to your hearts content. Go on - treat yourself to good food, great coffee and a nice relaxing time in The Café on the Square.

Always a pleasure to pop in for a pint and a natter with landlord and landlady - always down to earth with a dry sense of humour. Great effort always made a key dates, I.e, St Patrick’s day and St George’s Day as well as Easter and Christmas.

I was introduced to Pacey's when I moved here by a friend who's a Spalding native. Since then, it's become a regular meeting place for us and we always look forward to the announcement of each week's cheesecake flavour! Can't speak highly enough of the quality of the baking and friendliness of the staff - you really get the sense here that it's not just a café, but a real cornerstone of the community.

2nd time we've been here, first time wasn't great, bit ill always give a place a 2nd chance disappointing experience again. I'm guessing the chef is not the owner?

Wonderful coffee shop and restaurant. It is always clean and friendly atmosphere, with lovely coffee and tea. The cakes are yummy and soft - everyone should try the carrot cake (gluten free too!) The coffee is strong but smooth but you can ask for it weaker if you like. Not at all like a ‘charity’ shop of coffee shop - somewhere nice to visit

I include a picture to show the tiny portions they dish up. Fish and chips came with 21 chips (plenty of small ones in there too) and a tablespoon, at most, of mushy peas. The curry sauce (on the chips) was incredibly thick. I know they have a senior menu, where the portions are smaller, so I'd hate to think what you get on them. If I'm honest, I think they served a Senior meal, I cannot believe a 'normal' portion would be so small! That said , the bar person insisted, what I was served, is normal. If you want a decent (or even normal) portion of food, avoid the Pied Calf, we were not impressed.

We have been visiting The Ship at Long Sutton in South Holland for a number of years but I am compelled to put pen to paper to highlight this pub as a place to go. I would say that recently a new breath is sweeping through this establishment and with a very willing staff, super home cooking and a lovely menu. This week The Ship became the venue for a luncheon club my wife and I belong to. On a recommendation from us a group of 17 members of our club descended on the pub and we were met by Charlie who was directing operations along with her family, Great food, good prices, excellent service and approbation all round from our members. Well done to everyone at The Ship, you are definitely in our sights as the place to go to.
