We chose Ye Olde Abbey to be the venue for the wake of the funeral of my father-in-law. Ye Olde Abbey is perfectly located, only 1 minute walk from Crowland abbey and its graveyard so very easy for guests to move between the two locations. We were really delighted with the service we received from Stacy and Dean. We were able to select exactly which types of food we wanted. The portions were very generous and the food tasted great. They were also very accomodating with special dietary requirements and allowed us to use the dining area for as long as we needed. We would highly recommend Ye Olde Abbey.

Firstly, I am coeliac so difficult to cater for! The Abbey serves Nene Valley draught bitter, all of which is gluten free, so one very important box ticked. In the aftermath of COVID the menu has been quite restricted but my request for a steak dinner was welcomed with the understanding that all ingredients would be gluten free. My wife and I both had sirloin, one well done and one medium rare, both with peppercorn sauce. They were both PERFECT, cooked to perfection and without the need for a steak knife. Washed down with a lovely chilled Chenin and served by Stacy and Dean, the publicans, with a smile. This was, without doubt, the best steak I have eaten in a very very long time. We’ll be back for more soon.

Following numerous recommendations from work colleagues we had our first Sunday roast last year. We planned to take my mum for her birthday in December but we were in lock down. Desperate to get back for our second visit we tried to book, but they were full. I rang last night on the off chance and we were squeezed in. Wow! Last visit would have got an 8 out of 10, today's gained 9.5! Nothing to complain about at all. Crackling with the pork, perfectly cooked vegetables, tasty roasts and parsnip. Absolutely fantastic food and service. Can't wait to go again. Keep it up, you're winning!!

Myself and my partner sampled the take away roast dinner with a dessert each from this pub having never eaten here before. The food was second to none! It came pre prepared with simple instructions to follow to heat through for 20 minutes in the oven so you knew that when it came to plating up your meal it was lovely and hot. Whilst there are establishments out there where you take your meal home and plate up straight away I was more than happy to wait whilst my food was “finished off” in the oven for 20 minutes in exchange for hot food. To say I was impressed with the quality of our food was an understatement- it was reasonably priced, fresh, delicious and not to mention very generous portion sizes! This was a much needed lockdown treat and we will certainly be sampling out the pubs food again whether it’s another takeaway roast or (in the future when it’s safe to do so) a sit in meal.

Popped into the Abbey Hotel for a couple of drinks and a sandwich, but on being shown the menu we decided to go for main meals. Scampi and chips / Ham eggs and chips - both delicious, piping hot and served promptly. The large dining room was empty when we ate (13:30) but that suited us fine. Service was good and everything spotlessly clean. We were very happy that proper attention was being paid to Covid security too.

This was our third visit and the food was lovely. My husband and I had gammon and did not need the steak knives we were given as it was so tender. One person had ham and another scampi and both were excellent. But we were very upset by the fact that we specifically booked the table next to the window as one of our party is registered blind and can see nothing unless she has good, natural light. We were promised this table but when we arrived found it was reserved for a group booking. The young waiter was apologetic and went to see if he could do anything about it but the answer was no. The really annoying thing was that we finished our meal by 2:30 and sat chatting over coffee. The window table was eventually taken at 3pm! We could easily have eaten at the table promised and moved if and when the party arrived. So if you have visual impairment maybe this is not the place to eat as you will not be treated with much regard.Thank you however to the young lad waiting on us, he was very professional.

Just had a fantastic meal here. It was all just perfect! I would defiantly recommend the steak, make sure you have the sauce too it’s well worth it. The steak sauce is made to order and is unique to the Abbey. Despite trying I couldn’t get the recipe! All the food is made to order, you can tell that love and care has gone into the whole experience!! Great portion sizes and real good value too, service staff are brilliant and very attentive. I’ve been going to the Abbey for a while it’s such a lovely place to have a few drinks and it always has a friendly, relaxed vibe! My only wish is that I had dined here sooner! Last week, we had a funeral at the Abbey just up the road from this pub. I had provisionally booked a table for lunch for a few people who we thought may want food after the service, but it ended up that there were quite a few more who attended. When the doors of the pub opened at midday, we were ready to get drinks and it soon became apparent that there was around 15 people that were wanting some food (far more than I had booked a table for). I asked if there was any way that they could accommodate those numbers for lunch, which they were unable to, due to another large booking. However, they did their upmost to find a way around it and the chef offered to do a buffet of sandwiches and crisps etc. as an alternative while we were all having drinks. There was a member of the party who was lactose intolerant, and the chef was also able to offer them a separate plate of food, which was great. The staff were all lovely, and a young girl who was actually on her 1st day there, did really well in serving us all. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the team there for being so welcoming and helpful in sorting a very last minute request out, they really went above and beyond to accommodate :-)

Fabulous Sunday Lunch! We visited several times with friends and on family occasions. Always good service - laid back style - fabulous lunch with lots of freshly cooked meat, Yorkshire pudding crisp and dry and enormous, beautifully cooked extra veg huge variety. A lovely lunch. We went recently after a busy Sunday cooking for our local Fun Run from 8-1.30. Very tired so looking forward to our Sunday lunch here. My order a blush rose dry please arrived and looked too pink to be dry as I like it and as I recall my last glass here. I sipped and sure enough too sweet for me. Returning the drink to the bar was reassured this was the usual dry rose. But after saying I could not drink it due to being too sweet was asked what I'd like instead. I asked for Chardonnay. Some time later the lady came and said the manager could not replace the drink as I had tasted it!!!!? How would I know it was too sweet without tasting??? We were told we had to pay for the drink. We sat a while and decided we could not continue with our lunch booking with this attitude. My husband went to the bar and paid the bill expressing we would not want lunch. The lady seemed shocked. We left and went elsewhere. We had made enquiries to bring a party of 20 from our ladies club. This will now not go ahead. So disappointing! A glass of wine causes the loss of a minimum of 22 lunches. Good business???

It was all cooked to perfection. The meat cut through like butter and melted in the mouth. Fresh seasonal vegetables and all the trimmings were delicious. It is a rarity these days to find a pub/restaurant that serves freshly made home cooked food. The dessert menu offered a wide range too.All the tables were filled and it was very busy, but we had excellent service from the young staff who were polite, friendly and professional. I was introduced to Pacey's when I moved here by a friend who's a Spalding native. Since then, it's become a regular meeting place for us and we always look forward to the announcement of each week's cheesecake flavour! Can't speak highly enough of the quality of the baking and friendliness of the staff - you really get the sense here that it's not just a café, but a real cornerstone of the community.

Wonderful coffee shop and restaurant. It is always clean and friendly atmosphere, with lovely coffee and tea. The cakes are yummy and soft - everyone should try the carrot cake (gluten free too!) The coffee is strong but smooth but you can ask for it weaker if you like. Not at all like a ‘charity’ shop of coffee shop - somewhere nice to visit
665 Opinions
I include a picture to show the tiny portions they dish up. Fish and chips came with 21 chips (plenty of small ones in there too) and a tablespoon, at most, of mushy peas. The curry sauce (on the chips) was incredibly thick. I know they have a senior menu, where the portions are smaller, so I'd hate to think what you get on them. If I'm honest, I think they served a Senior meal, I cannot believe a 'normal' portion would be so small! That said , the bar person insisted, what I was served, is normal. If you want a decent (or even normal) portion of food, avoid the Pied Calf, we were not impressed.
