The food was freshly cooked and the portions were a good size. I would say it was the nicest food I have eaten out in a long time and look forward to going back for my birthday. The ship was recommended to us and I am happy to recommend to others. The staff were so nice too.

We have been visiting The Ship at Long Sutton in South Holland for a number of years but I am compelled to put pen to paper to highlight this pub as a place to go. I would say that recently a new breath is sweeping through this establishment and with a very willing staff, super home cooking and a lovely menu. This week The Ship became the venue for a luncheon club my wife and I belong to. On a recommendation from us a group of 17 members of our club descended on the pub and we were met by Charlie who was directing operations along with her family, Great food, good prices, excellent service and approbation all round from our members. Well done to everyone at The Ship, you are definitely in our sights as the place to go to.

Met a friend for a business meeting. Had a light lunch. Amazed at the food quality. The best homemade chicken liver pate I have ever had. Also the ham egg n chips was well above average. Lovely menu. Nice Sunday dinner, meat was lovely, veg Nice, staff very friendly and helpful....my only criticism was the dessert....6.50 for a pecan pie, which I thought was home made, a nice big slice was guna come out...., but no, it was a small round one which you get in a shop...in packets of 6, felt a bit cheated there....but other than that it was a enjoyable dinner.

If I could put 0 stars I would. Terrible service from the waitress who was rude, obnoxious and quite frankly a disgrace to your establishment. A friend asked for a candle as it was someone’s birthday, her response was err no! As a waitress your job is to go the extra mile for your customers, something this lady fails to do.

Absolutely appalling. A party booked to celebrate the passing if a family member. Excuse after Excuse. Apparently one of the staff had had an accident so short-staffed yet they were accepting off the street bookings despite the large family booking made some time ago. Service v slow as they were serving others not pre-booked. Food v poor indeed. Nothing home made or cooked from scratch just sourced from 365 or other companies. A total bunch of amateurs. Wouldn't recommend. Felt so sorry for the widow.

Been here a few times now. Its where I always go to meet up with my family for a catch up, food and drinks. Staff are always friendly and have a chat with you. Food is good and priced reasonably. Had a lovely night there the other night with my boyfriend and friend catching up. We got there late and I'm sorry if we kept you up 😂 but Gary was very welcoming and friendly. I think the biggest test of a restaurant is how they handle things when we are not happy. Having chosen to have a quick chat with the barman last week and not plastering it all over social media- has resulted in a good night out this week! Ratatouille special was delicious 😋 and the crumble was just a perfect comfort pud. Give businesses a chance people! We are all human after all!

Went tonight, Tuesday, for a birthday meal after seeing all the lovely pictures of food online. Unfortunately the quality of food served was nothing like the pictures. The "buttery mash" was definitely powdered "smash". Thick, stodgy and tasteless. Vegetables were cold, probably because they were served on cold plates. It seems as though the " chef" is different on a Tuesday than the rest of the week. If that is the case, don't waste your money on a Tuesday.

We started to go regularly for dinner, it's getting more often that we go in and no-one is at the bar or in the front. Or Gary is just there playing darts all night rather than hosting. The young chef is usually on her own cooking, running food and having to do the bar. The food is typical pub grub and cooked well, dinner seams better than lunch, although i feel its slightly overpriced. We don't always feel welcome like we're barging in on thier little hang out. For instance this week: We went , there's no-one at the bar again when we go in, it took them along time to take the order , the food was good, but no-one asked if we wanted a desert and we felt we were in the way and they just didn'tcare . Unfortunately these sorts have things have been since they reopened and think we are going to start going elsewhere.

We stopped in a Travelodge nearby so the reception had recommended The Ship. It’s a local pub, quite unremarkable actually but we were greeted with a cheery Hi by I think the Landlord. The young lady behind the bar was extremely courteous and pleasant and the drinks were reasonably priced. We ordered food again very decent prices, but we were sat quite near a darts board were a game of darts had started. The food arrived and it was excellent pub grub, very nice as it didn’t have that we don’t care deep fry/ microwaved thing that a lot of pub grub has. It was more home cooked. The one negative that is not likely to be a regular issue, was a local being very loud and swearing constantly. The lovely landlady did speak to us and apologised, but I feel the drunk should have been told to pipe down, or be shown the door by the landlord. My wife told this scr0te his language was disgusting and he did apologise to us. That “could” have worked out differently. Apparently he doesn’t usually frequent this pub. What a shame for us this happened. This is a no frills local pub (we like a proper pub atmosphere) that serves excellent food. I would return for sure though…. That is a definite, I do believe that was a one off incident.

The New Management have brought the Ship back to its old high standards of Good Food, Well Kept cellar/beer and Good Service. Sadly, from the start of the Pandemic to these people taking over we were left with a sad and unhappy Ship. For anyone who has not visited since these people took over - please give it a try - I'm sure you wont be disappointed. The menu is small but excellently prepared and presented. Evenings are Basket meals only but again to a high standard. I understand from friends the Sunday Lunches are excellent.

Went with my girlfriend last night for dinner, We were one of the very few in there. We ordered the Brie to share as a starter whilst we waited for our main course. 4 pieces of breadcrumbed Brie that had been frozen, were placed on a plate with a poor attempt at a salad. Very basic. The Lamb Shank was extremely small and the 3 pieces of Broccoli, didnt in my eyes constitute ‘veg’. The steak was meant to br medium rear but we well done. We raised our concerns with both the waiter and the chef came out too. Nothing we said was taken on board, we we simply wrong! We were told to pay full price, which to keep the peace we did. We won’t be returning. Some days restaurants have off days but the staff could have tried to pull it back. Shame as it used to be a nice place.

Had scampi and chips-some chips had an off taste. Maybe cooking oil needed changing. When I commented the server told the chef who offered to make another portion but I'd eaten the rest of the meal which wasn't great. I had to eat something as I had already done an insulin injection! Our details weren't recorded and I forgot to ask about this. Must check whether or not this is now mandatory for tracing. Server wore mask under nose and got really near when taking payment which made me feel uncomfortable due to my age and medical condition. Wearing a mask under your nose is like wearing underpants under one's appendage (if you're a bloke....) Friendly service. Took two Rennies when I got home.

I include a picture to show the tiny portions they dish up. Fish and chips came with 21 chips (plenty of small ones in there too) and a tablespoon, at most, of mushy peas. The curry sauce (on the chips) was incredibly thick. I know they have a senior menu, where the portions are smaller, so I'd hate to think what you get on them. If I'm honest, I think they served a Senior meal, I cannot believe a 'normal' portion would be so small! That said , the bar person insisted, what I was served, is normal. If you want a decent (or even normal) portion of food, avoid the Pied Calf, we were not impressed.

I was introduced to Pacey's when I moved here by a friend who's a Spalding native. Since then, it's become a regular meeting place for us and we always look forward to the announcement of each week's cheesecake flavour! Can't speak highly enough of the quality of the baking and friendliness of the staff - you really get the sense here that it's not just a café, but a real cornerstone of the community.
