Only 1 person serving despite it being lunchtime. Dirty tables.

A lunch is advertised extensively, I point to it several times, but I don't understand the service staff's announcements well. Just school English on my part. It turns out later, using a translation app, that they don't have the packed lunch at all. In return they sell me 4 coffees for me and my wife. You wouldn't want liters of coffee, as you might have guessed...2 coffees will be returned as a gift.

Can get very busy at times. The service is pretty fast. Typical Costa prices.

Costy Costa. Had whipped caramel frape, did not look like on the pictures, small glass, no swirl, ice cubes too large, nothing special for £4.

Standard Costa menu, but place is a bit dirty. Stained tables, cobwebs, tea pots absolutely filthy inside.

Good, but not the best ......cleanliness it's not the best .

I am really sorry for staff who have to almost fly to keep customers served, the place needs at least one more person, I've seen customers cleaning tables to be able to seat, drink and eat. The rest is okay, good coffee, tasty cakes and you can have something to eat too. Clean and tidy at the time of visit.

The staff were lovely, the coffee was good, but the place leaves a lot to be desired - tired, dingy, no atmosphere.

All fine but nothing special. Service was attentive, happy to get me some water after we’d been served. The children ordered the new popcorn frappe and the blueberry bubble tea frappe - the appeal of the blueberry frappe was that it was bright purple on the electronic notice boards, though came out looking nothing like the picture at all. Wouldn’t even know it was the same drink. They didn’t have any toasted tea cakes left at 11am on a weekday so that was disappointing though they did offer me something else. Sat in the window and looked out at an appealing old building but over all not worth a stop.

Nice if expensive coffee and cake. Rewards scheme is becoming a bit tight, having to now buy 10 coffees to earn a free one.

Popped in for a coconut frappe. Never been served it in a glass like this before but tasted nice. Was a little concerned about the hot water tap being right near to waiting customers. Enjoyed my short visit overall

*COSTA COFFEE SHOP @APPLEGREEN SERVICE STATION SPALDING* Two servers both talking away ignoring us at counter. Tick tick. 5 mins later one of them walks off after scratching her back under uniform bare handed. (Short female wire framed specs). Still no greeting. A couple more minutes later server 1 says “yes please”? So we Ordered a latte and hot chocolate and cakes. Server 2 now returns from outside with her mobile phone in hand (the one that’s just been scratching her back) and starts getting food out. Noooo!!! Surely not. “You are going to wash your hands aren’t you? I asked her. With a death stare from her she mumbled under her breath and left the counter and walked out the back. She then came back wiping her hand on a paper towel… no apology but if looks could kill customers ….Not sure if she even washed her hands. After some till issue now the first server asks for money and we pay by contactless. I then observed The back scratcher, Server2 wiping her nose with her bare hand behind the counter, OMG can this be happening in a this environment! Then Server 1 brings our food and drinks over 5 mins later. Both large drinks which we just did not ask for. We wondered why it was quite expensive but at this point didn’t want to ask guess that’s why the large drinks. Cakes not as good as times past very dry and stale and Very tasteless. So in summary poor service not to give regular drinks as default, and please please manager of this branch ensure hygiene policy of washing hands before handling food, AND get staff to refrain from bare back scratching up back of uniform wiping of nose behind counter for Customers to witness, which not only looks vile in a food outlet but is very concerning in these health conscious times.Finally get your staff to have some manners, politeness and common courtesy towards your customers on arrival during and after service.

The young blonde server called Jacob was looking my wife up and down and trying to flirt instead of working, very rude and i had to intrude with it.

We ordered "Breakfast deal" but received Breakfast tea instead...... Nobody reacted to this situation. Terrible service!!! We will definitely not recommend Costa in Spaulding!!!!

Very friendly staff who work hard. Lovely hot chocolate as well. I come here once a week for a hot chocolate and a cake or hot cross bun.

Usual fair for a Costa, and friendly staff too. Recently refitted, but toilets were left looking tired and unhygenic. Very noisy cafe, possibly noisiest I have ever used. Nearby parking, and street parking. Store is easily accessible.

Great coffee and the service is fantastic too. The shop has had a beautiful refurb, nice and light and open.

Went to this Costa at 16:00 on 3rd December. The place stank like sewerage. It was so bad, we had to get our drinks to take away as always couldn't sit in the cafe any longer. The floors were soaking wet so one can only presume they had an overflowing sewage pipes, hence the smell. This cafe should not be open, serving food and drink in an environment that clearly hasn't been cleaned throughly enough

Called in today for a drink before returning home to Cambridgeshire but we won`t be returning. Had to wait ages to be served and staff not in any hurry . The whole place is very run down, in need of a revamp and a good clean. I was retching whilst in the toilet as it was disgusting and a health hazard. Had I gone in there first we would not have stayed for drinks at all. A visit from Environmental Health would not go amiss !

I stood in the queue for 8 minutes with no sign of progress. Whilst waiting, I looked around and saw 2 tables were visably marked and grubby looking. The entrance mat was gross. There was also an accumulation of dirt and muck next to the mat near the door. The place actually looked so run down and grubby I decided not to bother as it made me feel uncomfortable. Shape up Costa...

Rude and unwelcoming staff. On 3 occasions this month, I’ve experienced the same service. The first time my drink was barley hot, and man was rude and has attitude like he could not be asked. Second visit I asked for extra hot, and still was only just warm. 3rd time I asked for extra hot, got told of course, and still it’s not hot, also asked for orange sprinkles for the Terry’s hot choc and they said they didn’t have them yet I cud see them on the side. So that’s the last time. Not worth going for the points

One of the employees who served my friends and I today was very rude, we went in for a drink and wasn’t intending to stay long. When we arrive he was very rude about us coming in. Then when we asked for a drink he was very rude and refused the drink we asked for even tho the person before got the drink I asked for. He then continued to be very rude and stroppy with us. Complaining and mumbling under his breath. This is the man with the tattooed black band on his left arm. We were unable to get his name as no name tag was available. This has now happened twice in the past 2 weeks with the same person.

Covid concerns. Girl serving cake & sandwiches and speaking to customers had face mask round her kneck rather than over her mouth. Queuing customers not maintaining distance & not being monitored.

Just moved to Spalding 2 weeks ago and decided to take my mother into town for a nice coffee. Went into the shop today and my poor old mother who has had a hip operation was treated with the most shocking disrespect!! She told the waiter she cant stand and that I was in the queue to order our coffee's... Only to be told she must get away from the table and go stand aside while I queue!!! My mother is 70 years old!!! No respect for the older people in there!!! Totally disgusted in their treatment. I will NEVER go there again!!!

Very rarely no queue when I go there, but I never have to wait too long to be served. Always seem a staff member short... They're seems more work to be done than they have the manpower for (table cleaning seems to be last on the to do list). Still gets 5* for the best got chocolate ever!

It is a Costa much like the rest of the chain with the same coffee and range of snacks. I thought the staff were especially pleasant and being open until 6 it is convenient.

Popped in for a coffee mid-afternoon and it wasn't too busy so the service was quick. Staff were busy cleaning and it was much tidier than some other Costa stores.

The fiods and drinks are good, interiors nice and it is a pleasant shop. However, it is really noisy in there and it can become hard to have conversations in there. Some of the drinks have an overpowering coffee taste, for some reason, even if you didn't order coffee. Other than it is a very good place to go.

The place looks like a morgue when you enter. Nice young irl at counter but I needed some help so she woke up someone who was painting their nails around the corner, the supervisor, avoiding supervising at all costs. he was surly and unhelpful and clearly clueless about coffee. I asked him what milks you have, he pointed at three jugs with cartons of milk in and said those three, I said what three what are they! He seemed amazed I wasnt clairvoyant like him and mumbled something about full fat, half fat and err...... I gave up having ordered an arabica americano that tasted like ditchwater and he also gave me a card tray to carry one coffee!!! The place is a complete and total waste of space.

Have u seen the tables in Spalding Costa.. Worn and bashed up looking. Had a revolting cup of vanilla latte with no vanilla in it, despite me paying extra for vanilla syrup and asking the girl if she had put vanilla in, which she said she had. She lied. Don't know if the milk was off but I took it away and ended up pouring it away after 2 sips It tasted like old dish water, honest! . Staff were complaining and in a bad mood. I didnt get my receipt either which i wanted to check gift card points from. Never had such bad service or bad coffee as I have in Hall Place Spalding Costa... I will avoid it.

Great. Clean and not too crowded

I went to Spalding Costa on the Market Place today with my 2 daughters and grandson for coffee and cake at 4.30pm. Ordered coffees and cakes to have in. My daughter brought a tray which was filthy and the drinks were in takeaway cups. I went to the counter to complain and was told that they had washed up and now using paper cups even though they don't shut till 6pm! I told them I wasn't happy but they never offered to give me a proper cup. My bill was over £18 and we had to use paper cups!

Spalding town Costa needs refurb...table tops worn out ..enjoyed lattes and tea cakes ...fine as always at a Costa.

I never get what I want at Costa and the staff are really unhelpful saying that its not up to them. The coffee is rubbish too. Not like all the other Costa restaurants I have been to. There are better Costa's elsewhere in Spalding

I have been into the Spalding Costa a few times and each time I have vowed never to go back. There are always long queues, it's rare to find a clean table and the coffee/food over priced.

Terrific coffee as one would expect with a selection of cakes and biscuits if you want them. The coffee shop is conveniently in the middle of the shopping area. Always a treat to have a decent coffee.

Good and clean. Went in on Saturday and wondered what the hell had happened. Only 2 people in front of me but had to wait an age to be served and when I got my coffee it was cold. The barista was obviously inexperienced and in need of help. I will be checking who is serving before I go again and waste money on a cold coffee. Not the usual service today not even a full cup.

What's to be said great coffee, great staff, great location and my favourite place to grab a hot chocolate this time of year.

Parking in nearby fee paying car parks. All on one level. 2 toilets. Very popular place so seating can be at a premium and service can be somewhat slow due to long queues. Ideal pit stop.

Hi, I pop in quite regularly during the working week and meet a family member and I am always struck by how lovely the staff are at Spalding Costa: warm, friendly, polite, helpful - even when clearly very busy. Makes it a great place to go. Thank you Costa staff!

Spalding high street seems to be dying off, less & less things open less of the time. Nipped in after a trip to Ayscoughee Hall for some tea & cake but most places closed. I prefer local, something a bit more unique, but when it’s between here & Greggs there’s only one choice. Takes card & cash, it’s fairly clean & plenty of space if you need to park the little one or someone that needs the wheel space. Breakfast bar in the corner if you prefer to people watch (that’s a game in itself in Spalding!!). Staff were nice if a little slow (in making the coffee...) but friendly enough. Not much in the way of toilet facilities & they’re unisex so ladies just be aware.#travelDave
