The Red Lion in South Holland

Went for a meal only. Not typical pub grub! It was excellent. Pics show paté on sourdough (I think), with blackberries and small onions. The other pic shows pork belly. Very well done and presented.

Recently went for a last minute Sunday roast with 2 of us vegans. Meat eaters and Vegans were both welcomed with great options and lovely service. Staff were friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was pleasant and warm. Would deffo come again if in the area.

Great venue for live music and a meal. Sunday Jazz is suprerb. Food is great but they often make simple mistakes when taking bookings. 😞

We had booked a table for mother's day yesterday. Nice pub and staff, but the food was terrible. We all had 3 course meal the starters was bland tasteless greasy, the main was a posh roast, but we couldn't cut through the beet and pork the 3 roast potatoes was raw, 2 long carrots was rock hard and 1 little steam of broccoli which was placed on the top of the dish was over done and looked rotten. The stuffing ball had not been cooked just rolled up and put on the plate the gravy was like tasteless water. We are very pleased we did not get to eat the dessert.

Fabulous Sunday lunch. All 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed it. The meat was just perfect along with everything that went with it. Couldn’t fault it whatsoever. Warm friendly welcome, service was excellent for the entirety of our time spent there. We will Definitely be returning.

Such a welcoming cosy pub, friendly staff and The food tastes amazing, you can tell they use very good quality ingredients, my favourite was the steak, done just how I like it. We also had a cheeky cocktail or two.

This is such a lovely place , and highly recommended , we decided to have dinner , a date night , to round off a long week , we were made to feel so special , lovely welcome , friendly staff , very attentive , beautiful atmosphere,, and all this was before the food. The steak was some of the best I’ve tested and I washed it down with some amazing cocktails , this is a real gem we will be back , thank you all , top class

Attended the red lion on New Year’s Eve with family and and was welcomed with happy and bubbly staff, when offering the tickets I informed them that myself had dietary requirements which they catered for , the atmosphere was 2nd to none I will definitely be back new year

This venue is amazing. When so many hospitality businesses are suffering and pulling back to save on costs. The Red Lion roared again on New Years Eve. Tickets were a great price bearing in mind the food was simply outstanding. There are buffets and buffets this was one hell of a buffet. The mini Turkey pies were to die for. Yes it was busy but you would expect that on New Year’s Eve, you don’t normally go to an event like this to sit down you go to Party which is exactly what the Red Lion provided. Excellent drinks just wish they could extend. The team are very professional and although exhausted did a great job in keeping us all fed and watered. Well done guys Happy New Year to you all.

Waited 30 minutes for a menu and even then the waitress was impolite, the food is basic and well over priced I don’t recommend

TAKING ADVANTAGE OF DISABLED CUSTOMERS! Booked and paid for tickets for New Year’s Eve at £30 each. Needed to have a seat because one of us was disabled so asked if they could reserve a seat. Was amazed and disgusted at the response “ can’t guarantee you one but…money talks” followed by “£20 each” We were charged £80 to reserve the 4 seats because one person was disabled on top of the £120 for 4 tickets for what was at best, an average night! Excellent singer, however the food was really poor with very little choice and the variety of drinks was abysmal! By 11pm they had absolutely no cider and the choice of spirits was worse than a pop up bar. Half the staff clearly didn’t want to be there, all adding upto a less than friendly welcome and atmosphere.

Alex and team provide a first class service. Excellent surroundings and ambience, combined with professional service and exemplary food. We had a wonderful meal. Everything top notch. Thanks!

Family birthday dinner. Lovely atmosphere. Attentive staff and excellent food. The portion size is just right so that you can enjoy three courses without feeling over full. Quality of the food is outstanding for a small town restaurant.

Love this place! The food is always exceptional, staff professional but really friendly and helpful. Live music adds to the experience and we have seen many acts here. We will be enjoying New Years Eve here again this year , but before then shall revisit with friends in a couple of weeks time. We have held birthday parties there over the last couple of years and never been disappointed. After having surgery, they were very accommodating to my challenging dietary needs. The Red Lion is perfect for all celebrations and family get together and meals - oh - and their cocktails are delicious too!

Visited with a friend during a day off, had cocktails and Camembert by the fire which was really nice. Was quiet on a Sunday night which was also nice for a catch up with an old friend. Thank you to the girls on duty for making us feel so welcome.

We went to this pub for a meal before a wedding and had a great time. Delicious food (especially the mushroom starter) and great staff. Wine was decent too! Would definitely recommend.

We went to the red lion for my partners birthday, the food was mediocre at best considering the price and the menu was very limited. The atmosphere was ruined by dim lighting and loud punters on a table nearby swearingloud enough for our table to clearly hear, I would not recommend. The only plus side was that the waitresses were very friendly and outgoing.

The pub is OK, the food is average and the service is slow. Vegetarians have an option of 1 meal, the fish that was the fish and chips was watery but the chips were nice. The sticky toffee pudding was remarkably like chocolate fudge cake and no custard available. The lighting in the pub made the place gloomy. All in all it was an average meal

Beautiful food, so tasty! We visited on a Saturday night when there was a live singer, although it was a little loud it enhanced the atmosphere. We were told when ordering that service would be slow as there was only one chef working. Staff kept us informed and provided some free drinks. The food was amazing and well worth waiting for.

The Red Lion recently hosted my Father's Celebration of Life Party and I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Alex and the team who helped to make it so special and memorable. Alex couldn't have been more accomodating or helpful during the planning and on the night. The buffet was fantastic too. I've eaten here a few times when visiting my parents and the food is always great, plus the cocktails are amazing too. Highly recommended for a night out, meal, or for a function. Excellent food, Delivered to your Table on a slate plate, fresh and hot. Entertainment later, a Singer who got people up Dancing. Oh and Lovely Cocktails.

Excellent food service but beware of portion size.

Very nice place, staff is very polite and place has good vibe. Food was nice but it is modular size so more on fancy side so expect paying for quality not quantity. To put is blantly spoon of mash to jug of gravy and red cabbage was red dab of 'paint' for decor. Hope that helps.

We turned up and walked in and the place had a very nice atmosphere, very tidy and the staff were very welcoming. We were ordering as a table of 11 and the food came out really quick. Everyone said theyr food was amazing. We'll be back next year

First time visiting the Red lion yesterday evening and definitely won't be out last, it was such a refreshing change to receive a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the settings are perfect, nice fire going, an lovely ambient feeling to the pub. Two cocktails for £10 what a bargain, the bourbon legend is definitely one to try, a perfect blend and well presented. We wasn't planning on eating as we had already been out for lunch but intrigued on what the kitchen had to offer I ordered the Pork belly. Compliments to the chef, could not fault one component on the plate, the pork fell apart, the fat just melted and the crackling was perfect, sage in the mash really complemented the pork. But the piece de resistance was the gravy, so flavourful and the perfect texture. Thank you for a lovely experience, see you tonight 😁

Called with family on route to Norfolk for Sunday lunch 9 adults, We had soup for starters followed by roast beef Sunday lunch, all presented beautifully and tasted excellent service was a bit slow or we would have had pudding as well but had to get off.

A fabulous pub and restauraunt, had a wonderful meal here tonight, all accompanied with a great singer (Lucy Kay). Menu's are reguarly changed with some great little twists and touches to the dishes to give an extra special flavour and taste, accompanied with a wide choice of drinks, cocktails and well kept beer. The Red Lion pub has a great atmosphere. The staff are very competent and the standards of service is phenomenal. One of the waitresses/ front of house (Shannon) has great communication skills. She provides an exceptional service. Her cocktails that she makes are lovely. Shannon recommend the Raspberry Martini and it was to die for. In conclusion I give this public house a 5 star rating.

What a nice place! We went to the Fleetwood Mac tribute for dinner and were blown away by the food, cocktails and amazing show! You’ll be hard pushed to find a busier venue for miles n miles!! Back next weekend for the country tribute!!

First time at The Lion tonight will definitely be returning, the food was excellent good quality ingredients the staff were very attentive and friendly made me feel very welcome. Everywhere including the toilets were lovely and clean which to me is very important. Definitely a great place to dine and will be going back to try out the live music another time. Just like to add I had a bottle of wine and a large glass of wine on arrival so when you look at the pricing below it give a true representation.

Second visit to the red lion this week so felt the need to review this fab venue. Visited on Saturday early evening and they were busy but felt very relaxed, sipped delicious cocktail while we waited for our food and considering how busy they were the wait was definitely reasonable. Starter and main were both absolutely delicious. We both had steak and it was cooked to absolute perfection. Visited tonight (Thursday) and order chicken off the new menu and again was fantastic. The red lion gives has such a tranquil friendly vibe. The owners and staff really make you so welcome. Fabulous food✅ Delicious wine and cocktails ✅ hospitality ✅

Fabulous venue! I’ve been a few times before for the amazing cocktails and music but thought we’d try the new menu, wow! There’s such a lovely atmosphere in this place, Holbeach has exactly what it was so In need of- great food, great drinks, great service!
