We went in as an add hock stop to crowland. We will be visiting again as it looks like a nice place for a visit. And now we know a fantastic cafe to visit. Food was very nice and good quality. Definitely not a fast food cafe but a quality one. Which I think is more important. It was also nice that you could sit and chat and not been rushed. Food portions are a good size infact we had to share a cream tea after two soups and sandwiches.

There were a few more coffee shops in Crowland. Sadly, they weren't around for very long. The Old Paper Shop has been around for a number of years. They serves delicious cakes and sandwiches. I've visited there on multiple occasions in the past. Unfortunately this time I was unaware that they are closed on Good Friday. After making the trip, I found out it was closed. I'll give it another go.

Wouldn’t recommend if you have a baby. Went in with a couple of mum friends. Our babies were asleep. Making no noise and causing no issues but a staff member seemed to think that she should apologise there were babies there to the two other customers making us feel really uncomfortable. She was then very short with us when we were ordering and got very annoyed when my friend asked if she could have an extra hash brown rather than toast with her breakfast. Was made to feel like we weren’t wanted there. Not a nice experience. Won’t be returning. Other mum friends have had similar issues here so we now go outside of Crowland each week for our catch up lunches and have actually found some other really lovely local places that are a lot more welcoming.

How lovely to go to a real, privately owned cafe. Homemade food and staff that genuinely care. It’s the first time in years I have visited a non chain cafe coffee shop……..realised how much I had missed them. Had pate and toast with a nice side salad, my mum had coronation chicken sandwich with potato wedges. Both really enjoyable, good portion and reasonable pricing. Highly recommend.

My husband and I were working near Crowland yesterday, it was a chilly day and we were outdoors for several hours, and very hungry. Luckily we found The Old Paper Shop was open for takeaways, there was a small queue but we were soon served by an extremely friendly and helpful lady, who made us brie and bacon panini, we also had americanos and my husband had a slice of homemade cake, lemon and elderflower. The paninis were hot, the brie wonderfully gooey and the bacon crispy. The coffees were really good and so was the cake. I was so grateful to find a cafe open and serving good food in the middle of lockdown. Thankyou

Nice tearoom with a variety of sandwiches, toasties, panini, jacket potatoes and soup. Homemade cakes and scones are delicious. Ladies very friendly. Reason for not giving 5* is because when we walked in it wasn't very busy and the best seats were the window seats which had dirty tables. I had to ask for it to be cleaned. It very quickly started filling up and another couple had to move dirty crockery to sit at a window seat. Please clean tables as soon as people leave, it doesn't take long and will leave a really good lasting impression I can assure you.

Went to Crowland with family to see the abbey. After our walk round we were all a bit peckish so popped in to the old paper shop. First things we noticed was the lovely decor and how spotlessly clean it was. An extremely friendly and cheerful young lady came to to our table to take our order. We all ordered our teas and coffees. My wife and I really fancied a bacon sandwich, which although it wasn't on the menu, was told it wouldn't be a problem. Our son had a milkshake and a brownie. The sandwiches were lovely with good quality bacon, the teas and coffees were fantastic and our son absolutely enjoyed his homemade cake and shake. They seemed to have a large selection of homemade cakes and a very full menu of pretty much anything that you would want. Would thoroughly recommend this place if you're ever in Crowland.

We had a long wait to be served. Specials board showed soup which when we ordered were told they had run out but didn't remove it from the board and we heard several people asked for it. We ordered paninis which had a salad and coleslaw accompaniment. When it arrived there was no coleslaw and they said that what they had made had run out. We feel it would have been better to pop across the road to the Spar shop and get some than leave the plates with just a few drapes loaves of lettuce cucumber and tomatoes.. It had been recommended by a local person. There was no offer of a small price reduction for not fulfilling there order. They would not have mentioned it if we had not asked about the missing accompaniment. We wont be returning.

Met my friend here as the location is central for us both. We had been once before and were so warmly welcomed that we decided to return. Today I opted for 2 poached eggs on granary toast, and I must say that the eggs were poached to perfection, and my friend opted for a fruit scone, which had literally just come out of the oven. We both had a pot of tea each, 1 peppermint and 1 earl grey and the total bill was £9.10. A lovely establishment which is welcoming, particularly by Sammy, and there is free parking along the high street. We will definitely be back!

I was passing through Crowland as part of a cycle ride from Cambridge to Lincoln, I first noticed the cafe because there were a lot of bikes outside, I was feeling peckish so decided to go in. The reason for the bikes was that a group of 10 or so cyclists were inside eating scones. I ordered beans on toast and a hot chocolate, the service was really friendly and really quick. I also got a banana cake wrapped up to take away. The food was great, the service quick but personal and the cafe was clean and tidy. I think it was just a coincidence that there were cyclists in when I was passing and I'd highly recommend this place whether you're on two wheels or not.

Since then, it's become a regular meeting place for us and we always look forward to the announcement of each week's cheesecake flavour! I include a picture to show the tiny portions they dish up. Fish and chips came with 21 chips (plenty of small ones in there too) and a tablespoon, at most, of mushy peas. The curry sauce (on the chips) was incredibly thick. I know they have a senior menu, where the portions are smaller, so I'd hate to think what you get on them. If I'm honest, I think they served a Senior meal, I cannot believe a 'normal' portion would be so small! That said , the bar person insisted, what I was served, is normal. If you want a decent (or even normal) portion of food, avoid the Pied Calf, we were not impressed.
