The best restaurants serving Italian food in South East

The pub was brimming and over flowing to the outside with diners when we arrived. I'd heard their roast dinners were good and thought the number of people were a testament to that. Wrong! The roast (?) potatoes weren't all golden and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside but barely cooked and a grey colour which my knife couldn't penetrate. One of the potatoes was actually black. The parsnip was not all soft and squiggy but suffered the same lack of time in the oven, if it ever saw an oven that defied my knife slicing off a piece to taste. The pork dry, and tasteless. I didn't attempt the giant Yorkshire which obviously wasn't homemade instead looked plastic. The cackling burnt. However the side dish of cabbage and carrots and the one piece of cauliflower whilst overcooked was quite tasty hence the 2 stars I think we were perhaps one of the last diners to be served so maybe we drew the short straw. I'm not however game to try again.

I knew that this pub was under new management and my friend had recently been here and said the meal was good so I thought I would invite me friends for dinner, I was not disappointed, the service, food and cosiness of the pub was excellent and would return, I had to trout and crumble and it was delicious and could of done with some more custard. Freddie who took our order and served us was exceptionally professional and funny too. Only minor point is when we were going in from the back it looked like it could do with a bit of love and pretty flowers. Look forward to returning maybe in the autumn when the fire is on.

Outstanding food, great service and atmosphere all at a very reasonable price. Unfortunately there was a problem with the Pizza oven the evening we went but I choose the Risotto Ala Mare instead and I was not disappointed.

First time here, very nice surroundings and furnishings and welcoming greeting. Cannot fault anything, varied menu plus specials of the day also every dish marked for gluten free, dairy free & vegan. My wife is gluten and lactose free and it was no problem navigating the menu. Food freshly cooked and beautifully presented and full of flavour, one of the best meals we have had. Very reasonable prices combined with great food and service is a winning combination, long may it succeed.

Incredible food! I had the king prawn starter and the duck main, everything was super yummy and the service was fantastic!

Visited on a sunny Saturday and sat outside. Excellent and friendly service. I had a delicious seafood risotto and orange cake. My husband had a spaghetti carbonara and panne cotta. All very good. We will definitely be returning. Meal came to £40 (inc three drinks).

What a fab meal. Pizza was great. Olives yum!! Nothing to say but thank you for a lovely meal :-)) Will be back to enjoy more of the menu !

Great food, fantastic service and very affordable prices.

Cheapish food, but you get what you pay for. I had one of the chicken dishes, which I could have made at home to the same quality. Had a salad to start and had to ask for the oli and viniger, when it should have been on the table. House red was vinigery. Very small and dark place, toilets not very clean.

Whenever we go to Eastbourne we always go here. The staff are so friendly and the food is lovely. We have been to Italy a few times ,the food here is just as good Really do recommend Mamma Mia

Incredible food. Amazing service. The monthly special of tortellini with chicken and chorizo was great. But the best dish by far is the Risotto Gamberoni. 10 out of 10. Could not recommended enough.

Take away treat for football. Exceptional from ordering online, delivery & value for money. Highly recommend & we eat in too. Bannoffe is the best...

My food was ok. My friends was cold and had a very strong aftertaste of what we think was olive oil. The music was very loud so it was not a relaxing atmosphere. The waiter took my friends dishes away before I had finished and then we realised he had taken our pot of tea as well. Won’t return.
