My food was ok. My friends was cold and had a very strong aftertaste of what we think was olive oil. The music was very loud so it was not a relaxing atmosphere. The waiter took my friends dishes away before I had finished and then we realised he had taken our pot of tea as well. Won’t return.

The mini calzone was ok. Service super slow. Dishes came at different times. Waiting 50 minutes for pasta Bolognese that then turns up with the pasta not al dente but almost uncooked is unacceptable. When raising this with the manager sending up the chef who failed to apologise and just repeatedly, with increasing aggression, asked me “what do you want me to do about it?“ Ah forgot, turned out that the lasagne ordered was not even being prepared. Ah well, 1 star or accepting that I would not pay or the pasta dishes and lasagne. And an apology from the owner/manager on the way out. Leaving the place with 4 of us fed alright and three hungry and angry others in our group was not what we were hoping for our family trip to Brighton. Avoid if you don't want to be disappointed.

An expensive mistake. Coffee was reasonable but too long a wait for mediocre, cold food. Staff didn’t seem to care. It’s a shame.

this shop is horrendous me and my friend sat at there outside table minding out business and the man bangs on the window then goes upstairs and tips water over us from above

Lovely little cafe with a great variety of fresh, delicious 😋 😍 food and coffee. I had the capresse sandwich and it was sooo tasty. Great value for money too. My partner had an iced Americano and a pizza slice and he loved it esp the dough that was so fluffy. The staff were friendly and very quick with the orders. We will definetely be going back!

Had a quick lunch there during my 3 days stay in Brighton, with 2 arancini and a cannolo as a dessert and I am really happy I have jumped into this lovely place. The food is really tasty and nice and the staff was really helpful. Thank you!

Popped in for coffee and an aranchni ball, was not expecting the compulsory 12.5% service charge and when queried it, was told everyone charges it nowadays. Happy to pay service charge if there was some service but for a coffee and aranchni ball, no! If I hadn't already paid, I would have left. Such a shame as nice coffee and being local, would have gone back.

Wanted to try this place for a while now, so when we were in town on a Saturday at lunchtime and the sun finally came out, we decided to come here and have a light lunch/snack and sit outside. It was a good decision as everything we ordered was really tasty. Very nice coffee and hot chocolate and the arancino al ragu was really yummy! The staff were friendly and helpful. The prices were reasonable. The only thing I was worried about before getting there that there won’t be much choice left by the time we rock up at 2pm and I was right. We had the last meaty arancino and little sausage focaccia/pizza. Maybe over the weekend there should be more freshly baked produce available. If we arrived 15 minutes later and there wasn’t any of that left, we would have gone somewhere else to eat as we were quite hungry. But it’s just a suggestion…I’m sure it’s hard to judge how much produce will be bought and how much left over. Otherwise, we enjoyed our visit there and we will be back for more. When I closed my eyes and bit into the arancino, for a minute I was transported to Italy 😁

Some tasty vegan items on the menu but far more of them should be considered. A lot of the recipes could be quite easily made as 100% vegan/plant-based, and it would be beneficial in lots of ways to do so

Great Italian restaurant. People are always friendly there, the food is really good and you have enough choice to hesitate and the coffee is lovely too

picked up a too good to go order and asked what was in the arancini, staff member informed me one was spinach and one was aubergine- both contained meat, i am vegetarian

Pultroppo ammiro il lavoro e la buona volontà di fare di esportare gli arancini o arancine come si preferisce chiamarli. Il cuoco ha commesso il grande ed imperdonabile errore di michiare e appallottolare il riso insieme al sugo. NO!!! Gli arancini sono riso con ripieno all'interno di sugo.. mischiato insirme diventano SUPPLI'. Mi dispiace per le scarse stelle.

The prices are very high and the service is not great.. We ordered at the counter and went upstairs where the table were sticky and dirty. If you charge a lot, you need to give a very good service isn't it!? Nobody came back to ask us if everything was ok or try to sell another round of drinks. Felt in a cold environment.

We had a lunch snack here today. We had the arancini and they were delicious😋💕. True Sicilian style, way better than what we had in London. We’re only in Brighton until tomorrow morning, but I think we’ll be back for dinner. 🍽😋

Picked up three items at the end of the day. Delicious cold, probably so much better if hot. Very filling and tasty. Will be going again.

Italians know how to make coffee like no others, and it was proven here. The cannolo was very nice too

Gaia deserves the utmost praise at Monjibello. Even though our order was big she managed to get it out to us in a timely manner and did so in the most polite way. She is always smiling and excellent at her job, if I could give her 10 stars I would. Also try the pistachio tiramisu if you get the chance, it was incredible.

Great and quick Sicilian street food. It was a sunny day and we could enjoy a nice beer out in the street, t'was grand.

Upstairs there is a nice seating area with plants and vibrant colours. Before sitting in, we explored the menu on their website and were disappointed to find that the choice on the actual menu was limited and it was significantly more expensive. Even more disappointing was the fact that there was something wrong with everything we ordered: 1) the calzone was dry and mediocre at best 2) the mojito tasted as if it was simply water with lime, lacking sweetness or alcohol and the mint leaves were simply added in, not crushed 3) the chocolate milkshake was quite watery and 4) the pesto pasta was drenched in oil, although overall it was okay and probably the best of the things we ordered.

Excellent service - the staff are all extremely attentive and friendly. I had the pasta bolognaise - the pasta was perfectly cooked and the portion size was good ideal for lunch. I will definitely be returning!

I don’t want to sound like an “entitled parent”, but I walked in with my 2-year-old son who was hungry and fussy. I just wanted to grab a croissant for him. We patiently waited for the ladies in front of us to finish. When they walked away from the till, I opened my mouth to speak and managed to say “sorry, do you have…”, but the cashier interrupted me telling “do you mind if I let the lady behind you, she only needs to pay”. Without waiting for my answer, the lady behind me stepped in front of me and they proceeded with the transaction. My son started crying and I just left. Went to buy something else from a shop nearby and when I passed by again, the lady that paid was still sitting at the tables outside. The thing that made me feel bad as a customer was mainly that I was silenced and pushed aside, while I just wanted to grab a croissant. I leave two stars and not one mainly because I think it comes down to the cashier’s inexperience with customer service, as she didn’t look like a rude person. Hopefully my review is an opportunity to learn.

I visited monjibello today to get some takeaway food. The woman put everything in a bag fixed up with tape, which already looked broken, I left the store and all the food fell out on the floor because of the broken bag provided. I went back in to explain that she had given me a broken bag and asked her kindly to replace the items as it was her fault. She proceeded to charge me again for the food items in a rude manner, knowing I had spent over £30. I left it at that, however I am very dissapointed with the customer service and understanding of the situation knowing well she gave me a broken bag to begin with.

I had a really bad experience at Monjibello, I ordered some pasta to takeaway and some cakes for my family. It took an eternity for them to boil some pasta and heat up some tomato sauce, each time I asked if it was nearly ready, I was fobbed off. They also charged me an extra £5.50 for a dessert I didn’t order and wasn’t in my bag. Luckily I asked for an itemised receipt and checked it carefully as I could not understand how the bill had come to £27 for 3 slices of cakes and one pasta. I won’t be returning, obviously!

If only you could smell the coffee...! Seriously wonderful coffee at this ideal cafe in the centre of Brighton, and always so friendly. Haven't been in here a while, but so glad I came in. A perfect spot for lunch, too. The authentic Sicilian food is incredible.

Small but perfectly formed. Sicilian street food served with passion and love. The arancini were perfect and all totally different in taste. Service could bot have been better, and what pleasure I gained from eating Sicilian food, served by an Italian (or maybe Sicilian!)

We were looking for somewhere to sit down for a light lunch. My husband had coffee and we had a mozzarella and tomato sandwich each. The bread was just how we remembered it being when in Sicily, and the cheese and tomatoes scrumpy and they very filling.

It's always one of my favourite Italian place in Brighton where you can really taste Sicilian food. Cannoli and Arancini are amazing. I like also the furniture, it makes everything cosy, stylish and Italian.

The food here is delicious when done right however out of the four times I've visited, there have been two major issues with what I've been served. The first issue was I was given a ham and cheese arancini instead of mushroom (I'm vegan and asked specifically for the vegan option) then after giving it another chance on another visit both the arancini I received was still frozen in the centre. Clearly the chef here needs retraining. If it wasn't for the floorstaff responding well to the situation and being generally fantastic, this would be a two star review.

This Sicilian café opened in what was previously one of my favourite tearooms in Brighton and I was so glad to see it continue the local independent vibe. It is surely a good sign that there were so many Italian customers every time we visited. My partner rated his coffee as 9.9 out of 10 which is an unusual accolade for him. I tried some of the arancini rice balls and pastries which were delicious and extremely filling for not very much money. They also hosted my teenage daughter‘s birthday party and handled the demands of a gaggle of 14-year-olds with grace. A wonderful addition to the Brighton Lanes and I can’t wait to go back.

Lovely little cafe/restaurant. Very good service from staff and very attentive. Please be aware as of this review date 17/10/2021 they are updating their menu and the prices are more expensive but this is not stated on their website or on their menu(online only at the moment) We only found out after we got a receipt. They are also not on 2 for 1 on meekat meals even though it shows on app. Hopefully these will get updated soon.

Great little Italian bar in the heart of Brighton. Top notch Sicilian street food and great cocktails. Desserts are to die for and the staff really attentive and personable. Recommended. 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lovely arancino and great quality of the ingredients yet, we got there at 1pm and that's pretty much all they had in store along with a couple of croissants. A little disappointing since we came to try a lot of the things that they have on their menu ( and they have A LOT) and there was none of them but the kinds stated above. :/

I have recently ordered the delicious Sicilian boxes and enjoyed the lovely arancini in the park with friends. The delivery was spot on! The arancini were freshly made and still warm !!! An easy idea for a picnic. I highly recommend it.

...then Sicily can come to us. We ordered a Sicilian Medium Box and six cannoli alla ricotta. The box was beautifully presented, full of amazing, fresh and colourful food. All really tasty. The cannoli were superb. We put out our red and white tablecloth and it was (almost) as if we were back in our beloved Sicily.

Great food. Only 4 stars because it's quite small only seating is mostly outside (Spring/Summer/Autumn). Try their take away during lockdown 👍

Had Christmas lunch today, it was a feast! Loved especially the caponata and pistacchi pesto pasta. Bought an artisan panettone to open with the family on Christmas day, I can't wait to taste it. Thanks Monjibello

We were in dire need of coffee and cake whilst wandering around on our first visit to Brighton. In these covid times, we were finding it hard to find somewhere to sit and have a coffee but stumbled upon this gem. Lovely staff, lovely coffee,...

Some minor communication difficulties. Liked the cannoli but was served in takeaway box, which was hard to eat from and had to ask for small dish. Contents ended up on the side of box. Took 2 of them home as it was very messy.

Ho assaggiato un cannolo al pistacchio: delusissima! All'interno sembrava colla, e non aveva alcun sapore! Capisco che la cultura estera non apprenda a pieno la cucina italiana, però questo credo sia immangiabile per chiunque!

Fantastic Italian food. Absolutely recommend you visit if you are down in Brighton. Mark my words you will not regret it. The food is genuine Italian and very fresh. Also they stock Bronte Italian pistachios, which are the best you can get.

Found when walking by and I had to stop to have an arancina. I had the pistacchio one, while my partner had the norma one. Best arancina I have ever had in England, high recommended!
