La Piazza in Brighton and Hove

Well where do you start. Just literally just left after eating calamari with alio sauce followed by penne chicken and yes had to have pudding chocolate brownie… “Food Porn” my friend had starter main and pudding which is in heard of All I c a say the restaurant is fabulous the deco is awesome and such a great find. We booked the upstairs room. 26 people. All pre-ordered a week in advance. As a retired chef that has run restaurants around the world I feel I have to draw attention to our dreadful experience of this establishment. I honestly dont know where to start. I sampled 5 different peoples pizzas sat on my table. Flaccid and flavourless with a very odd texture. Lifeless quaggy food. I have never seen so much food left on plates with such confused faces. One of the 1st pizzas to leave the kitchen was inedible. So undercooked you could barely slice it. It took a lot of convincing to have it removed from the final bill. It was awful. My Carbonara dish was dire. Whatever cheese you are using in this kitchen to flavour your dishes, please stop. The Whitebait was inedible. The Calamari rings undercooked and again flaccid. Sadly the food ordered for the "birthday boy" was a disaster. Perhaps some education on Dairy-free options will fix this. The upstairs space is lovely; light and airy with plenty of room to accommodate a large group. But, upon arrival to set up at the time booked, the place was filthy. Knowing we were coming the venue was disorganised, drinks fridges turned off, counter tops filthy. WE had to clean it up, NOT the two members of staff. Both of whom had zero training in hospitality or attention to detail. The young girl was clueless on how to correctly serve tables and follow up simple requests. The young man assigned to the upstairs room for our evening of celebration was one of the rudest I have ever seen. Calling a Mother in her 50's who booked the space "darling" well over half a dozen times even after being asked not to do it, an extremely patronising and condescending way to treat a paying female customer. This was in response to errors in both the running of our night and the final, very confusing, billing. There was zero consistancy with what we ordered and what was on the bill. I hate to be the person that writes this, it has to be really bad for me to voice my disgust but I witnessed so much love and thought go into the organisation of this important birthday celebration. Sadly the venue, the kitchen and the staff failed miserably on all levels. I hope things improve for this restaurant. As a group of 26 adults there was a lot of dissapointment. Not a night to remember.

Last minute visit due to travel plan cancellation as a result of the Heathrow incident on 21 March 2025. Have visited here before on a Sunday in Winter and had the roast chicken. Had this again - their roasts are thoroughly recommended. Huge portions with great service.

We called in here by chance. VERY pleased we did. Our young waiter was attentive, and catered to our varying needs, including one of our party wanting the chicken dish, but changing from the menu option to a tomato based. As he put it the childs pasta with chicken. 4 of us all had different meals, and they were all excellent. And even though the 1 course was enough, who can resist apple crumble with custard. Not us. And the waiter accommodated our request for "lots of custard" with a second jug. He is a young man who should be very proud of himself, and it was a privilage to have him as our waiter, just sorry we didnt get his name, but he knows who he is. We visited on 17th March.

Used to regularly go to this restaurant at its previous location. Have been a few times since it moved. Our visit last evening was massively disappointing. Service was really poor. Young lad was more interested in his phone. Don’t offer me a drink when I was waiting and didn’t offer us a dessert after our mains. The white wine was warm and the cooler just doesn’t do it. Should’ve been in the fridge from the get go. My prawns weren’t very warm. We paid over £100 for the experience and will explore the multitude of better options Hove has to offer. What a shame, looks like the owner has taken his eye off the ball. The restaurant was very quiet which tells its own story.

best Italian i’ve visited in a while. such good value 6.75 for lunch ( i had a very good sized portion of carbonara ). best pasta from a restaurant that i’ve had - so creamy, cheesy and amazing. decor is so beautiful inside it really feels like italy ! also a perfect hybrid between classic and modern. service is also 10/10 very friendly and attentive but not overwhelming.

Just home from the most fabulous afternoon at the prettiest restaurant in Hove - La Piazza. We both had a roast and it was perfect! We agreed it was the best roast we've had in a long time! The veggie wellington was tasty and the beef was cooked perfectly. The veg was plentiful and cooked al dente which is to our taste...and the roast potatoes were crispy and the yorkshire was spot on!! Literally couldn't fault it at all. All made better by super friendly and efficient staff and such a relaxed atmosphere with chilled music.... We'll be back soon to sample the rest of the menu!!

The food is really not great. We paid £42 for 1 lasagna, 1 pizza, 1 bottle of still water. Amd the quality wasn't great at all. Will not go back

Lovely family run restaurant based in the heart of Hove, excellent food with an extensive menu which is also very reasonably priced, the staff are fantastic, very polite and couldn't be anymore helpful. They have an amazing function room upstairs with a bar which is perfect for private events, the night we attended they had live music which was an additional bonus as the signer was fantastic. We will be back soon guys!

my favourite place not just for the food, but the staff. They make the dining experience so nice and really look after you. The food is to die for and the portions are huge. You’re missing out if you’ve not been here! Amanda (the owner) goes above and beyond for you. She is an angel.

Staff always so welcoming , knowledgeable and friendly. Unable to fault the menu and food served is spot on regarding presentation, flavours and portion sizes. I always look forward to our next visit.

My favourite Italian. Food is always good, still reasonably priced and the staff are always friendly even when a group of 30 who had prebooked didn't show and they'd hired extra chefs to cater for them.

Great people serving interesting food in huge portions! The apple crumble was very much altered from tradition and all the better for it. I had the chicken Behrooz, the epitome of comfort home made food. My son loved it and we'll go there again.

The staff were so accommodating and made them feel as comfortable as possible. Special thanks to the lovely Mandy! The food was absolutely delicious too, along with the red wine that accompanied our meal wonderfully. We will definitely be back, without a doubt with our family.

Lovely roast dinners served on a Sunday. I had the nut roast which was served with six different vegetables, roast potatoes and a huge Yorkshire pudding. Husband & son had the roast beef and they really enjoyed. Highly recommend and we will definitely go back.

Had a surprise birthday party here last Friday night. This family run Italian couldn’t have done anymore if they had been my family (which is exactly how they treated me) Their attitude, helpfulness, and superlative food made a special night, into a great night!! Molto grazie!!

Service was great and staff were friendly. The food is perfectly fine, but having dined with 3 Italians they weren't overly impressed on it's authenticity, and I'd be inclined to agree. Each dish seemed to have some extra ingredient added to try and make it special. A very English take on an Italian restaurant.

We had a large group booking and ended up having the whole upstairs to ourselves! Our waiter was so lovely and enthusiastic and even offered for us to put our own music on through the aux! It was a great atmosphere and has a beautiful interior, plus the food and drinks went down a treat!

We got a very warm welcome and felt very much at home. The lovely ladies were friendly and the food was great, it made for a relaxed evening after a long drive from Worcester and preparing for the London to Brighton British Heart Foundation Bike Ride.

WHAT A FANTASTIC!!! PLACE!! Well worth a visit, this was our 1st time here. We try a new restaurant on our anniversary every year, and this has been the best in 8 years. Food was fresh and cooked perfectly. Portions were big and value for money. So Looking forward to coming back and trying their Sunday Roast, If you've not tried la piazza, you really should, you won't be disappointed. We meet the the owner Amanda and our server Elaina whom were so attentive and made our anniversary dinner special. Couldn't have asked for better. This has honestly became our favourite restaurant from now on and can't wait to try the remainder on the menu, BTW my hubby is vegetarian and had a selection of items he could have. So thumbs up to la piazza and thumbs up to Amanda & Elaina and definitely to the chef for such great food.

Our party of seven all agreed, it felt like we were abroad eating here! Super friendly, lovely ambience, great food and cocktails , twinkley lights and wide open space. Nothing was too much trouble , menu varied , reasonably priced too. Will definitely book again when in the area as we had a great few hours .

Was here for the wknd and just came in - it was a bit quiet but the staff very welcoming and friendly- lovely decor and clean restaurant. Got mussels for starters - they were delicious no complaints . Chicken with roast potatoes where again very nice - fish linguini again very nice - kids pasta lovely - nice bottle of pino grino - desert we got Termasu - this was the only let down - it was a bit dry- needed more booze or moist - biut a lovely restaurant- well recommended!

I have visited this restaurant numerous times and have never been disappointed. I originally visited based of a recommendation from a friend, and I have since returned to introduce other friends. I believe the restaurant is run by a family, or it certainly gives that impression by the attentive and warm welcome. The menu options are authentic Italian. I particularly like the mushroom risotto and their take on a Nut Roast. I have ordered numerous sides on the menu as gluttony takes over, all of which fill a hungry space inside of me. This is the type of restaurant you can take your time in. On each visit, I have been accepted as a walk-in, even on a busy Easter Sunday. Highly recommend!

My family were coming down from London for Easter Sunday, and they all wanted, Sunday roast....so no hesitation in booking this warm and friendly restaurant La Piazza. Roast chicken was superb with light and fluffy Yorkshires, roasts and generous selection of vegetables. Followed by proper yummy puddings it was a great family and friends get together. All this for a very reasonable price! Everything was delicious. Thanks to all staff for excellent and attentive service. We will back very soon!

Absolutely amazing service! Elena made us feel so welcomed and gave us all of her attention and made sure we had an amazing time. The decor inside is so nice and the food was really lovely too, especially the lamb - and the limoncello and cake on the house for our friends birthday was such a special touch! Had a lovely visit from Leyla the dog too and we invited her to join us and she sat on a chair politely whilst we enjoyed our meal. Would definitely return!

This was a recommendation from a friend. What a lovely restaurant. Very cozy with friendly staff. We had the specials meal which gave a choice of burgers, pasta etc. along with a glass of red wine. We finished off with a coffee and I chose afogata. Very nice freshly cooked food.

Went for Mother's Day in a party of 6. The food was excellent. We had a mixture of traditional roasts, lasagne and fillet steak. All were delicious. The cocktails were terrible and tasted nothing like they were meant to, but we got a refund on those. I think they were busy and had deployed a very junior member of staff to make them. But they took them off the bill no question. The wine was average. Service very friendly and efficient. Would definitely go back but swerve the cocktails next time!

Disgusting service! I had this booked for 7 of us for my daughters 17th birthday…. We arrived and was told they were closing as there wasn’t enough people there and the cook had gone home. They had just kicked out a couple who were sitting down….. after I explained I had a booking and it was my daughters birthday, they lied and said I did not have a booking even after I showed them my confirmation email!…. I was understandably fuming and upset as I still am days later…. To have no contact prior to our arrival to inform us of anything, to lie to my face about a proved booking and to almost ruin my daughters birthday is disgusting and unforgivable. I will never go here again! …. Luckily my daughters birthday was saved by Otellos Italian restaurant further down the road, which I should have just stuck with as it has come through time and time again.

Big portions, i regreted having soup as i did not have enough space to try dessert 😅 soup was spicy what i did not expect, to be honest i should ask what soup of the day is. My fault. I was happy with my salmon risotto. My boyfriend not really with his food as it was very plenty, not very tasty that is why i go one star down

We were greeted by a lovely lady, who made us feel very welcome. Coffee (lavazza) was geat. An older man appeared and switched off so.e of thw lightingwhich left us sitting is near darkness. We asked to have the lights switched back on so we could see our food when it arrived, which he duly did. The lady serving us left and there was no waiter service from the older guy who just left us to it. Menu has a large choice and we opted for a pizza. The base was nice and crusty on the outside but could have done with a couple of minutes longer as the middle was cold and soggy. Toppings were plentiful, tomato sauce was sparse. Some of the toppings were cold too, which was a shame. We had tiramisu for desert and were served one large slice and one smaller slice which was kind of strange. However the young waiter was very friendly. Overall, mixed opinions. If the young lady and waiter were working, i would go again, their service was great. Also, we were there at 5pm and the only people there so perhaps its better later in the evening.

I was slightly disappointed with the food in all honesty but I couldn't recommend the service and atmosphere more. Super friendly and accommodating, the place look beautiful and everyone inside was having a good time.

Restaurant was cold, the waiter tried to put the heating on but it remained too chilli for comfort. That alone would not have forced me to give 2 stars, but the food we ordered was not good. I had a carbonara which was swimming in oil. I felt sick for the rest of the evening. 2 bowls of pasta, 2 drinks each and a bottle of fizzy water was £78. The restaurant was empty so at 7.30, he got the mop and bucket out and started washing floors 😩

The service was the best, a weekday evening so not too busy but still a lovely vibe, the music was good and the waitress was so lovely and gave amazing recommendations. It’s at the end of my road and haven’t been before, but it’s going to be become a staple. The food was outstanding and very good value for money.

Went for Sunday lunch. Very nice. I had the lamb, which was a really large, tender and very flavoursome piece. One of the biggest Yorkshire Puddings I've seen and nicecfresh veg selection. My only complaint, if you can call it that, far too big a portion overall. Really friendly and attentive staff. Food quite reasonably priced. The wine maybe a little on the pricey side.

As a regular diner at La Piazza, I thought a review was long overdue. A consistently good standard of food and wines and a great atmosphere. Try it.

The restaurant we wanted to go to was closed so popped in here. Cosy, homely and welcoming. The Romanian waitress was so sweet. Very friendly and open. Our food choices were spot on - no issues for anything except how an Irish coffee is made. We as South Africans know the real thing learned from Britain as an ex colony of 🇬🇧 but other than that, all was delicious.

Has the Caesar Salad and Tiramisu. Chicken was very tasty and the Tiramisu was the best I’ve ever had.

Had the roasted butternut squash risotto from the specials board. We also tried the tiramisu and the apple crumble with vanilla custard from the dessert menu. All food was delicious. Nice, contemporary setting with a good atmosphere. Maximus was an excellent host and we would definitely return to try another dish from the menu.

Decided last minute to pop in for Sunday lunch with my son. Both the food and service were excellent. I went for the roast beef and my boy chose the shoulder of lamb. Both were excellent but I will definitely have the lamb next time....

I’ve eaten here a few times it’s one of my go to places to take friends and family when they visit. The prawn linguine is delicious. The staff are lovely and go above and beyond. Last week I left something at a bus stop nearby and I called the restaurant and Maximus even went and picked it up for me and kept it safe. Thank you maximus!!

A lovely evening for our 2nd visit. The atmosphere is lively, warm and welcoming. We sat outside and people watched as we ate great food from an extensive menu. The food was tasty we had lovely penne and another guest had homemade pizza. The wine list is good, only criticism is that there are limited wines by the glass.

Aawwwww my goodness it was phenomenal, really scrumptious and delicious. Definitely the Best italian in town. It was really authentic and had an absolutely incredible atmosphere. In fact it is so child friendly that we are going back for my niece Sabrina'S 5th Birthday. Our fabulous waitress Elena provided a first class service. The seafood pasta was to die for, we simply cannot wait to go here again... Absolutely divine! We rate this restaurant 5 STAR'S...🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
