Da Massimo Italian Restaurant in Waverley

Had a truly amazing meal at Da Massimo this week, The food was incredible and cooked in-house which adds to the quality and freshness of the food and to the eating out experience. Hands down the best Italian food I've experienced and will be my first choice go to restaurant in future evenings out in Farnham. Highly recommended to anyone who is looking for good food and a good eating out experience.

Spur of the moment decision - should have booked but luckily got the last free table on a Saturday evening!! Service was excellent, food was delicious and the recommended red wine room temp and went down a treat!! Lovely evening and will definitely return but we’ll book next time to avoid disappointment!

My friends and I were in slug and lettuce tonight and we saw that the restaurant had no customers and we were on the verge of tears seeing the workers sad however after one hour the restaurant was PACKED and we were so happy to see the workers happy too! Honestly, it takes a lot for me to leave a review at all, moreso a poor one but Da Massimo was outwardly such a bitter disappointment. I wish I could say it was forgettable. I love Italian food. Even bad Italian food is usually still delicious...but this was BAD. The food was tasteless, badly cooked and certainly not fresh (the pizza was made on a thin pre made base akin to a supermarket pizza, but worse). The only reason I'm giving the experience 2 stars was that the wine was nice (albeit massively overpriced). Service was fine, but lacking in enthusiasm and certainly no extra care or attention given than taking our order and giving us the bill - maybe they didn't ask of everything was ok because they knew it wasn't. We spent £80 on dinner for 2 and honestly would have been more satisfied by a 2-4-1 Dominos. Definitely will not return.

Sad to say that our experience was really disappointing. Food all seemed to be frozen or packaged and very hurriedly prepared. Pizza consisted of frozen pizza base and supermarket, packet toppings. Nothing appeared to be fresh and certainly not homemade. Really sad as had been very excited to visit based upon a number of positive reviews.

Second visit did not dissapoint, beautifully cooked and presented, great to chat with the hosts afterwards

Overpriced very basic cheap food. Absolutely ridiculous. We lived in Italy for many years. We know. Now living in England for 25 years, this is for those mistaking and Italian name with the image it vehiculates.

I’ve been coming here for years and honestly, will never dine at another authentic Italian else risk immense disappointment. Been for birthdays, anniversaries, new years, etc and the atmosphere is always perfect. Lovely music plays faintly in the background, the staff are super friendly and will remember you! For my many years in Farnham, I’ve yet to find anywhere locally I’d rather go for a special occasion or even just a quaint coffee to catch up with the Massimo.

Let's start with the bill £76 for two that's ok with wine and a beer. But, food average at best, hardly authentic Italian about it. 5 tiny prawns and 3 scallops £12 as starter, rip off..! Then main, Chicken Breast, dry and over cooked, vegetables alsmost raw, the other dish a Chicken Risotto, bland and tasteless. I didn't complain as my friend treated me to dinner and I didn't want to cause embarrassment. I would not recommend this as great food and Italians would have wished they had stayed at home.

4 August. None of the food we ate from the board was fresh and view on the kitchen tells you what is being put on the plate. Was it otherwise fresh, we would have been willing to pay this heavy bill. To top it up, were both ill all night long, The website says "Most Delicious Italian Food" - I leave in Piemonte (Italy) 4 years and cook Italian food myself, we wanted to give this restaurant a try, what a disappointment. Once, not twice.

Had a diarrhea after eating food in this restaurant! AVOID. General impression: tacky Italian/Venetian/Sardinian deco, Italian songs but that's about it. Cheap, possibly not fresh ingredients and OVERPRISED food (we saw it being prepared by a grumpy Sheff). Never again!!!

Had lunch with my family here today, we were greeted warmly by the waiter, my wife has food allergies and the chef owner was more than happy to Taylor made a dish for her, food was piping hot and fresh, am Italian myself and have to say the flavours are as good as in Italy reasonably priced and cozy, definitely worth visiting.

Amazing food. Great wine recommendations hidden away down an unassuming alley opposite a pub. We have been back 5or6 times and top food every time. Its either empty or full. They do great takeaway pizza too.

Came to get a takeaway & while waiting I had a glass of wine. I recognise the label as I get it myself occasionally. It’s perhaps £8-10 for the bottle. When the bill came, I had the shock of my life: I had been charged £10 for a glass!!! Come on guys! For real? Obviously I won’t ever be back after being ripped off like that!

Fantastic home cooked, delicious Italian food. Hosted incredibly by Matt and cooked to perfection by Massimo in the open kitchen. From the second you walk in the place smells amazing. Great wine, great chat and beautiful flavours. We’ll be back again and again.

This is a hidden treasure! I have walked past this restaurant many times since living in Farnham. Last night we had a New Years Eve family meal and we were not disappointed. Food was absolutely delicious all freshly prepared perfect portion sizes the atmosphere was great and the service was outstanding. I cannot believe I’ve walked past it for so long!!! Thank you to Da Massimo for a wonderful evening, we will most certainly be back!

We visited Da Massimo restaurant this evening, and were very impressed with the feiendly greeting and excellent food . the menu was varied and the seafood soup starter was escpecially tasty. Abbiamo mangato bene! Grazie.

Why go to the usual Italian chains and get pre packed frozen when instead you could come here and get real freshly prepared Italian food? A genuine Italian restaurant with an Italian chef, it’s like eating out in Italy. We go often and it’s always superb.

Lovely restaurant with a great vibe. Nicely decorated and a good use of space. Tables nicely spaced so you're not on top of each other. Food was authentic Italian, wine list well chosen and reasonably priced, staff brilliant. I'll definitely be back

Quiet night, popped in for a quick dinner. Service was great, food was well made and very tasty. Acceptable range of drinks and a nice menu. A good visit, slightly rushed, but overall it was a pleasant meal out. Makes a change not to be the one cooking and washing up.

My partner two children and I stopped for some lunch, we came across this lovely cosy looking restaurant, from first glance we had very high hopes and expectations of the food, however we were very underwhelmed with the food, the service was not to the standards we would have liked, not as welcoming as we had hoped, not one of the dishes we had was enjoyable, it seemed like the chef has lost the passion and enthusiasm he may have once had, the food was very overpriced for how it looked and tasted, we won’t be visiting again

It was only the second time visiting this little gem. Very rare in Farnham an individual restaurant in a town that only has chains😱 They were very helpful and cooked something especially for me which was also rare. The meal, wine and staff were first rate. I’ll recommend to friends & family

A great find tucked away in a side street next to Sainsbury's in the town centre. A small, cosy restaurant where all the dishes are lovingly cooked to order by the chef/patron. Great value. Definitely worth seeking out.

Starter was calamari- complete rip off for what looked like Chewy fish fingers Pizza was far too oily, more like a dominos pizza And my friends lasagne was soaked in oil and tastes also like it was a ready meal Authentic Italian food I think not Carbonara should not be made with cream

Personally I could have considered more about the price tags before deciding to enter the restaurant. I would say Google should put £££ here. It is suitable for those who can afford it anyway.

I was today in Da Massimo with my kids and my husband for dinner. The waiter made us feel very welcomed. We asked to adjust menu to our suiting and the waiter and chef were very accommodating dealing with our requests. Both food and service were excellent. The biggest joy for me was to see my children eating everything and they even asked for more ❤️. Highly recommend and definitely we will come back

Awful food, awful price. We decided to go for a family meal (2adults + 2children) before we watched the fireworks, we ordered the children spaghetti with meatballs which was a good portion size but definitely were not meatballs and more like cut up sausage. We then order for ourselves, I had a mushroom and chicken risotto and my partner had the seafood pasta. The risotto was like a golden vegetable rice packet with some cut up chicken nuggets (minus the crispy outer) and the pasta had 4 prawns and not a single other piece of seafood as stated (mussels, clams, squid). We then received the bill - £26 for two kids meals. Overall cost over £80 (including 1 drink each) which we wouldn’t normally mind paying but the food/experience was awful.

Tried Di Massimo for the second time recently and was a little disappointed this time. Antipasto was described as ‘selected Italian cured meat and cheeses with toasted ciabatta’. The meats were there but the cheese was the tiniest amount. It looked like they had run...

A breath of fresh air amongst chain restaurants. Excellent in every way. Small and probably best for couples but food and service better than usual in Farnham. May regret this because it will be more difficult to get a table!

This is lovely cosy restaurant with wonderful food and a relaxed atmosphere. The spaghetti al ragu di pesce was particularly delicious. An independant hidden gem that you really should try.

Some of the staff at this restaurant are horrible and weren’t accommodating of my friends. They stared and made weird remarks and when questioned, completely disregarded everything, making a scene in front of the other customers.

I had a lovely frutti di mare salad, shared a pizza with my friends and washed it all down with a cool Pero I, delicious, the only downside ... Pizza was too small :)

Just ordered a meal for collection as I'm working away as a key worker. It was cooked really well. The owner came out to meet me on the street because the premises is not easily visible from the main road. Really friendly customer service. I would recommend people to support this business in these difficult times. The food is much better than any of the big chains in the area. I would thoroughly recommend it and will definitely come back again!

We ate here for the eat out to help out scheme. The food was nice, although a bit pricey for the portion sizes. However other than tables being spread out, there were no COVID precautions taken at all which is very disappointing. No hand sanatiser...

The Farnham town crier should be out hailing the reopening of Da Massimo’s. Just got a take away on opening night as that’s all they can do at the moment with the lockdown restrictions. Superb; Magnificent; Mind Blowing, not enough adjectives to express our emotions. You have no idea how much that meal, not to mention the nice tipple, has raised our spirits. Having walked passed this unobtrusive restaurant for the last 2 years, I finally persuaded the family to try it on a chilly Halloween (to get away from the door knockers!!) A lovely welcome, an intimate setting, a surprisingly pleasant decor. The food did not disappoint, all was delicious. The red wine recommended by Matt, was stunning. The bill, with a bottle of wine, considering the evening we ate, was not at all scary. Very good.

I have now words to describe what this place is....It is like home, but with way better food. Massimo and Matt makes you feel welcome and happy at every stage of the meal.Great pizzas and special ( tonight we had a gorgeous confid of duck)....Really recommended if you are in the area....and if you are not, you should be!!

This place used to be good but it's gone downhill cooking wise and it pains me to leave a bad review but: starters were packeted and ok. Main course tasted ok but not great, cheap meat cheap seafood, the sauce tasted wrong and the pasta was overcooked. Dessert I decided against but my fiance had and it was poor I really want this place to do well but the food was below a chain pub and we would have spent considerably less in the pub next door. I don't know what's happened but I wont be back. Terribly overpriced for what we had which was below average and frustrating from someone I know can cook! The quality is no longer there in the ingredients and safe to say we wont be back

Had a very nice meal here. Had tripe in a bean and tomato sauce to start, wasn't expecting to find tripe on the menu but it was delicious! A nice pizza for mains as well. Will definitely be returning.

We were looking forward to our second visit to Massimo’s. Unfortunately, shortly after our main courses were served a really loud/raucous group arrived.

We have been meaning to try this place out for a while after being recommended it on good authority. It’s tucked away down a nondescript side street and looks very unpretentious from the outside. Inside, the atmosphere is fantastic. Apparently a family run establishment, we were greeted warmly and advised to purchase a bottle of wine that would not disappoint. It didn’t! It tasted fantastic and on further inspection, we saw that it clocked in at 14% abv! For the price and quality that is unprecedented in my experience of eating out.

This unassuming restaurant is tucked into an alley between the Sainsburys and the Slug and Lettuce. As soon as you step in, you realize there’s a lot more than you’d expect from the outside and the location.

Like many others, I have been meaning to try this little Italian for the last 2 years, the location is tucked away, so frustratingly easily forgotten. Never forgotten again! This lovely traditional Italian run by Matt and Massimo is run with passion and pride. Unusual in a sea of chain restaurants. Matt was the perfect host, helping us select delicious food and wine. You really won't be disappointed.

Do you ever find yourself reminiscing about about that wonderful little hidden-away restaurant you discovered on holiday, where the food was sublime, the atmoshere relaxed, where the owner couldn't do enough to get to know you and cater for your every whim, where he remembered you on only your second visit, and gave you shots of the local fire water at no charge? Well, you've got it, right here in Farnham.

Da Massimo is in a funny spot behind Sainsbury's (with its free evening car park!) and you'd almost miss it. But don't be put off. We've had to book for evenings as it's a small restaurant, but worth the effort. The food is tasty, the specials worthwhile, and you probably can watch the chef doing his thing. We feel very settled there and it's our go-to place now. There's a good lunchtime menu, although we've only gone in the evenings... so far!
