My family from America wanted Italian food.,so we had a table for five.The service was very professional friendly. The food was excellent, as was the wine.As a chef of many years I can say this the most plesent experience for us all.We will always take our guests there.Thanj you Averna.

Hi. We went last Sunday with my son and daughter.Been there many times before. I had Lasagna which looked liked it had been microwaved. Very small portion ,and very dry. My daughter had a chicken dish which looked very poor,it looked dry and didn’t look very appetising.Shame it’s now very expensive, afraid we won’t go again.

Great visit as always, relaxed. Well done all, food is always hot and tasty. Restaurant always clean and staff friendly, will visit again soon.

Visited with family as we had not been to the Averna for ages. Had a fantastic meal. Garlic mushrooms were super tasty. American hot pizza was fresh, full of flavour with loads of fresh engrediants 10/10. Througherly enjoyable with the same excellent service we have always had. We will be back soon. Its easy to see why this place has been around for so long..

The food here was beautiful and hot. We tried the garlic bread, lasagne and the ravioli which was excellant.

10th December 2021 was a memorable evening of great food and top class service by Mario and his amazing Team and Dave Jelley with his one man band. Dave has a terrific voice, very much the entertainer, he covers most musical genres with ease but what really sets him apart imo is how brilliantly he works his audience. If you are looking for an entertaining evening with great food then look no further than the Averna & Dave Jelley, the perfect relationship.

We picked this restaurant at random and thanks goodness we did, what a gem! We were greeted warmly and given a table remote from other guests. Service was prompt, friendly and a real joy. The food was tasty and plentiful. The Calzone was huge, much bigger than the plate. It's a shame that we live so far away because we would be regulars.

We ordered a starter and main meal from the menu for collection as the restaurant is still closed to indoor seating. Our starter of prawns was OK only, but our main meal of chicken and veal was just reheated food with no taste, a total waste of £54. We threw the biggest part of our meal in the bin.

Ordered a pizza online for delivery. Once again (I really should have known better) they completely forgot the extra items i ordered and paid for on the pizza. It's not even with phoning them as they never offer to refund the difference. They hardly even admit they screwed up! It's a true pity that they have such a complete lack of care, as it blights what would otherwise be a great restaurant!

The pizzas were a good size and they were generous with the toppings. I also liked how it wasn’t grease however the cheese on top was a bit solid and the pizza as a whole lacked flavour. Overpriced for what we got.

Ate there with my family on Sunday gone - really lovely food, very nice wine, they kindly gave us art/colouring bits for the kids. Great service and lovely staff/owners.

We walked across the street from Hampton Court and wanted to eat, everything was touristy and crowded... we read about this place and walked off the beaten track and was welcomed in ... had a fantastic meal outside patio in the cool breeze and the wait staff was fun, friendly and even gave a complimentary shots of limenchello! Our meals were fresh and delicious. Definitely worth getting off tourist row.

This was my partner and I first meal out since the lockdown so we were really looking forward to it. The service was really good and they were happy to explain the menu. We weren’t rushed and the food was amazing. Will definitely be returning soon

Enjoyed a delicious lunch at Averna today (my first visit) as one of a party of about 20. Prawn cocktail starter was very tasty and salmon with lobster sauce was delicious with the accompanying vegetables being perfectly cooked (with extra on demand). Only criticism was that my plate wasn't hot so the food cooled too quickly. Service was attentive and charming. I will definitely come here again.

Third visit, had not used restaurant recently. Nice decor and friendly staff. 3 of us had the set menu cost £22 included a coffee and two courses. I had a nice aubergine starter would have again followed by rost lamb excellent meat..,my husband had monk fish with olives and chilli garlic he said it overpowered the delicate fish which was a shame for him. 3 of our friends had food from a la carte menu I would say starters were a bit pricey but looked good.

Although I live in East Molesey I haven’t eaten in Averna for ages. I’d quite forgotten what a lovely friendly restaurant it is. The food is delicious, the service perfect.It’s a good fun place to bring children of all ages or have a quiet meal for two. Bravo.

I just held my daughters christening party at the Averna and it was absolutely fantastic. We had a party of 45 people and not one person complained. The staff and food were excellent and every body has a great time! Thank you Mario!

This was a lovely meal and I’d describe as a modern Italian - I had carpaccio then monkfish and my mum had the duck - both very well cooked and served. Desserts were tasty - nice tiramisu. We sat outside which was nice but inside also looked good. Didn’t have to book but it was busy enough to have atmosphere and the waiters were friendly and helpful. I’d go again.

Can't think why we've not tried Averna before, as we live locally. Thoroughly enjoyable authentic Italian food with attentive and friendly service. The pizzas looked great but we opted for pasta - with a lovely fresh mixed salad - which was excellent, very generous portions. Good value children's menu, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Would have loved to have tried the homemade bread they advertise, but maybe they thought we had enough carbohydrate with the Garlic Bread! Would also have loved to try the Vin Santo (2004) dessert wine - likely worth the price tag of £12.95 per glass, but it would have been a pricey end to a lovely meal. Definitely going again - soon!

Well, known customer and a returning customer, this place is great for dining and cultured dishes, from calzone to Banoffi pie this Italian has it all!

We celebrated my daughter's birthday and we were the whole family. We were very well received by the waiter. We order recommended wine from the waiter witch was very well balanced with our meals. Most of us ordered pasta and other pizza typical of an Italian restaurant. Food was incredibly tasty and the portions were quite large, waiter name Angel made it possible to us feel good, and to have a good birthday, incredible service we all enjoyed. We thank all of the staff at the restaurant and we will come back again.

What a fantastic restaurant, turned up without a reservation after the Shane of booking a reservation at PizzaExpress Molesey, fantastic service and food FIVE STARS, not only does this place have fantastic service staff but they interact and have a charming authentic sense of humour. We were a party of fifteen who attended the Averna for a small family get-together on Saturday evening. The staff were friendly and attentive, and provided excellent service throughout the evening despite the restaurant being very busy. The empty plates themselves were a testament to the quality of the food, both for meat and vegetarian lovers alike. They also had a good selection of good quality wine, which went down very well. But above all it was the friendly, relaxed and unhurried atmosphere of the establishment which everyone seemed to enjoy the most. It reminded us very much of our numerous trips to Tuscany. Overall a great evening, and one we hope to repeat soon.

Had lunch here at the weekend and had a lovely time. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout the meal. Both of our dishes were lovely and a good portion size.

We visited here on a Sunday to celebrate a birthday. We booked ahead of time, which was worth doing as the restaurant was fairly busy with a large group in too.

Four adults for a Saturday evening meal in a fairly busy and unsurprisingly fairly noisy restaurant. Food and service were solid but not a standout experience. Tables reasonably well spaced so good feeling of space. Would return. Not my bill so cannot comment on pricing.

I went with my family and my kids Angel as always was very friendly and amazing voice. I had king prawns for starters recommend from the waiter witch was so delicious and pollo alfredo witch was very well balanced with lovely flavours. Angel was playing with the kids while we eat witch was very good plus for ass so we can enjoy the meals. We will definitely go back there the best service and the most delicious food. I found this restaurant very nice and tasty The food was good, great in flavour however lacking seasoning a tad We did not have to wait too long I would go back however only with family

We had a fun night with friends, once a month a crooner comes in and sings the old rat pack songs. It was hilarious and lively which is not for everyone but if you enjoy that sort of thing you'd have a great night. Staff are brilliant and genuinely nice. I absolutely loved the wild boar ravioli well worth a try.

I had high expectations from reading the reviews.

My husband and I went to this restaurants with friends who are regulars on Saturday for a night of entertainment. When the singer walked in I realised he was the same singer I used to watch regularly in a different italian restaurant...I was over the moon and knew it would be a fab night. Matteo, Angel and staff were the perfect hosts service was first class and so was the food. I had the prawns and pork belly...they were both full of flavour and I would highly recommend. The singer David Jelley sang all the swing and big and songs and I couldn't stay seated the music was infectious so I just had to keep dancing!!! Others also got up and were dancing there was such a feel good atmosphere. I honestly cannot wait to go again. Best night in a very long time!!

My 12 year old were driving through and came across the restaurant. Took a chance and was rewarded with really delicious food and excellent service. We live in North London and wish there was a restaurant like this there.

I went here with my youngest son and his grandmother as we couldn't be bothered to walk to Pizza Express. We all had the most fantastic time - the food was excellent (and my mother is unbelievably fussy!), the restaurant was clean and warm, the staff were so friendly and they obviously all like children. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and it will be our regular Italian restaurant from now on.

This restaurant is superb. The setting is wonderful - indoor or outdoor seating. We chose outdoors as it was a lovely evening. The food was excellent, the wine the best I’ve ever tasted, and the service second to none. Our attentive waiter was helpful, friendly and professional. The prices are very reasonable, and there is a wide choice of Italian themed dishes to choose from. A very memorable evening for us, and one I would highly recommend. Lots of extra little touches such as olives and bread with olive oil to start you off, and a fantastic Limoncello to end the meal. Seriously good service and food.

I've been coming to Averna for the last three years with my daughter. What makes this restaurant so good is the fantastic staff who always look after us so well and of course wonderful homemade ravioli and Italian deserts.

I'd love Italian food and this restaurant did just that first time been here and not disappointed The King prawns for the starter was very good And the veal Milanese for main 10 out of 10 Thank you we will definitely see you again

It's so sad we have spent many a great night here. A few years ago we stopped going,just was not the same. So we have it a chance still bad and another chance still bad. We went 17 months later ummm sorry but very very bad over priced substances good

We went to this restaurant this evening and were very disappointed with it. Two out of the four main dishes were not hot and the vegetable side orders were cold. the calves liver was in shreds which is a very unusual way to serve this dish. The waiter offered to re order the vetables but we had to wait for them so we could not enjoy the mains and hot vegetables together

We had lunch there and all the food was very good and the service was excellent but unfortunately it was a very quiet lunchtime for them so the atmosphere was a bit lacking. I am sure it feels very different on a busy day or evening.

We visit Averna regularly. Usually as a family of 4 but occasionally we get out as a couple too. The service and food is always impeccable. We visited today for my youngest daughter's first birthday. We asked if they would be able to make my oldest daughter little balls of dough and they did so gladly! This went down very well by all of us! My oldest had pasta this time and my youngest is partial to a pizza, my husband I both had fish dishes which were perfect. The waiters sang happy birthday and lit a candle for my daughter, it was so lovely. They really do go above and beyond, we are always made to feel so special and they are amazing with my daughters. I'm already looking forward to next time!

My husband and I went here last night after looking at reviews for the area on Trip Advisor. So glad we made the effort as the food was excellent. We had bruschetta to start and that was outstanding , followed by ravioli and salmon tagliatelle, finishing off with the cheesecake. The service was quick and efficient, the meal was beautifully presented and piping hot. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great authentic Italian meal at a reasonable cost.

A pleasant and contemporary looking restaurant set amongst a rank of shops on the main road through town, we had initially only intended popping in for a bit of pasta but ended up with a three course meal. The menu offered a good selection of pizza and pasta dishes as well as a few other options if they’re not your thing.

A family celebration meant that we wanted to go to Averna - a local restaurant.The total experience was excellent. However, our table was near the door on a cold evening and although we tried to move tables - none seemed to become available. It was early on a Saturday evening and our request was overlooked. This was the only negative to the whole evening.

I love this place. A down-to-earth, genuine and excellent Italian restaurant with authentic Italian dishes, served by the most helpful, friendly and cheerful waiters. There is plenty of space between tables, so you're not cheek by jowl. The atmosphere is animated, as it's usually busy, but it's relaxed and unhurried. Great for couples or families.

What a delightful Saturday evening dinner our party of 5 had at Averna. It is a typical non-fussy pasta/pizza Italian restaurant. The tables are well laid out (not shoulder to shoulder), the atmosphere is good and the service could not have been more friendly and...

Visited on a Friday evening with my girlfriend. The homemade pasta was the highlight as well as the friendly staff.

Quite a spacious restaurant, open fronted in the summer so you can dine al fresco. Service is exceptionally good. You are made to feel very welcome from the time to set foot in the place. The waiters and waitresses will serve any table, so you are never forgotten. The wine list is good, and they offer several quantities, from a standard glass through to 500ml carafes. A really good touch. We had the pate and calamari for starters. Delicious light pate. Lovely crispy calamari, and both generous portions. The spaghetti and king prawn main meal was full of flavour and very reasonably priced. Three large king prawns. Very tasty. This is home made pasta - very tasty and perfectly cooked. The bill for the two of us was a shade over £25/head, and we were really full. Birthdays are celebrated loudly and totally off-key. Everyone of their staff has a smile, and engages you as if you are part of the family. Very well worth the tip, which was not included in the bill. A very nice touch, and much appreciated. We will be there again very soon.

We live local to Averna so decided to walk down for some dinner with our kids. We didn't book a table but when we arrived there was a private function on one side of the restaurant and all the windows/doors were open but we still managed to get a table. The food was great and the staff were very hospitable and great with our children. We always have a great time at Averna and always recommend to our friends.

What a fantastic evening we all had on Saturday. The food was delicious and the staff were amazing. They were so accommodating with our children and let us adults enjoy as much as we could when the kids got a little restless. Great choice of wine and fantastic chefs. This time the kids had pizza by made by the authentic Italian pizza chef. I was so tempted but really wanted a steak!!! Would definitely recommend to everyone!

Went for an impromtu lunch, our waitress was lovely, my seafood spaghetti was gritty as the prawns hasn't been cleaned, but I ate it and was happy to pay for it but I did mention the prawns as I didn't eat any of the only three I got, manager came over and wasn't friendly, he took the cost of the prawns off but we won't go back or recommend

There is a wealth of good restaurants in East Molesey so it was difficult to choose where to go with friends for Sunday lunch. We decided to go to the Averna and were very happy with our decision. The menu is extensive and caters for all tastes and there is also a set menu for midweek as well as Sundays. Unlike a typical Sunday pub lunch the set menu adheres to the Italian roots and although limited to a handful of starters and main courses it offers plenty of choice. The portions are hearty and delicious. There was a choice of deserts which were very tasty and the three courses were just £20.80 which represented great value. Everyone enjoyed their meals and were comfortably full when we left. This is a little gem!

A fantastic family restaurant. We come here regularly. The food is good. The wine is good. The staff are great! The kids can help the chef make their own pizza! Our no.1 spot for dinner!!

We have always loved this place - even if it is for the owner and staff alone. These guys are great and couldn't be more welcoming!This is great for couples, families and groups. Great menu and the quality of food has really improved in leaps and bounds over the years - and it was great to start with.We enjoyed the most fun Christmas Day here a few years ago - still giggle about it now!These guys are definitely worth a visit - we don't live as local anymore but always stop by if we are over in Molesey.Keep it up guys and see you soon!

My husband and I went here for the first time last week. We were immediately made to feel very welcome. The food was excellent and we weren't rushed between courses. In fact, the food was so good my husband had 2 deserts!! Prices were reasonable, atmosphere was lovely, staff brilliant. Couldn't fault any of it, will certainly be going again.

We had lunch here after taking our two year old twins swimming. They were tired and didn't want to sit still so the waiter took them for a walk around the restaurant.The food was also excellent. Highly recommend!

A very family orientated run restaurant. My grandchildren (5 and 3 yrs of age) were met with colouring crayons and colouring sheets to keep them amused, whist a variety of excellent Italian dishes were offered with children's portions available if required. The waiters could not have given better service and a wonderful Italian meal and experience was enjoyed by us all

My family took me to the Averna for my 65th birthday the service is excellent and the staff were wonderful with my 3 grandchildren who are under 5. They have a good menu and the prices are very reasonable, and the food was delicious. We have added the Averna to our regular list.

Have been many times and thought it was time to give a review... We do not only visit this restaurant but we also get takeaway, All food can be delivered to our door on those nights where cooking is just a little to much.. Favorite are pizzas.Have had many lovey meals in the restaurant.. plenty of selection for all tastes. Staff are great fun and generate a good atmospheres. Offered a drink on the house for wedding anniversary which was a lovely touch. Have gone as a couple, with family and friends..

It is astonishing how a quite wealthy part of the country is devoid of decent restaurants, but Averna on Walton Rd, East Molesey is a wonderful exception. A group of us were staying in the area so I, a few weeks prior to the meeting, went there for lunch. It was very good - the starter was home-made ravioli in lobster bisque, followed by chicken Kiev (home-made again and therefore delicious) with fresh vegetables, and concluded with a superb chocolate cake with ice cream. However, the dinner we enjoyed last week exceeded that lunch. Four of us have spent a number of years in Italy - three of us are fluent in Italian, and we're used to real Italian cooking rather than the dreadful 'Britalian' nonsense which tries to compromise and always fails: spaghetti carbonara made sickly with cream is a classic failure. Well there was nothing like that at Averna for all six of us agreed that it was the best meal that we'd enjoyed in ages: I had freshly cooked squid followed, rather unadventurously, with the same delicious ravioli I had already tried. A couple had the vitello al limone and said it was the best such dish they had eaten outside Italy. Three of us (including myself) had the blueberry sorbet - "sublime" said one of us.At the end of the meal the patron provided us with limoncelli on the house. Why is it so good compared to other Italian restaurants? Well, the staff are all Italian, including the chef (whose cooking is mainly Neapolitan - so there are plenty of pizze which must be superb if the rest of the food is anything to go by) and this undoubtedly makes a difference. My one regret in writing this review is that we may have difficulty getting a booking when we next wish to eat there! One request please: turn the music down a bit. Ta!

It was a great restaurant, typical Italian one. Nice staff and took care much for kids as well. Meal was wonderful and space was comfortable. My kids finished mussels and left none for us.

I arranged a birthday celebration dinner for my husband last Saturday night. As it was such a special occasion I was fretting about the night beforehand but there really was no need as the staff made everything absolutely perfect. My husband and our guests absolutely loved it. I was amazed that they managed to serve forty people wonderful food so quickly and efficiently! Nothing was too much trouble for them and they even joined in the fun. The place has a wonderful friendly atmosphere and the food loses none of its quality whether its for four or forty. We'll certainly be back soon and would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant whatever the occasion.

Returned for the first time in 3 months and was pleasantly surprised to find that nothing had changed. Consistently high quality, good food accompanied by excellent service. The wine list is not exhaustive but the quality of the wines on offer at very reasonable prices cannot be bettered. Even the house Montipulciano is excellent!

Been to Averna at least 3 times now and each time has been as good or better than the last. Top food for a great price, not stingy on the portions either so you won't leave hungry! Nick and his team always make a massive effort and the "happy birthday" singing is always a true event! Will be heading back again before long I'm sure, and even going to try out their new one in Claygate when it opens :)

Was first introduced by a friend who lived in the area. Now I go whenever I have an excuse to go for dinner, including with my other half and with friends and family. They are very friendly and the staff can't do enough for you. Very reasonably priced with a decent sized menu.

Had a vegetarian calzone not on the menu, but made for us. When the plate arrived, it was HUGE! A little girl on another table said it looked like a turtle. Very tasty and filling. Followed by creme brulee, creamy with a crisp and crunchy topping. A very enjoyable lunch.

Went here this evening arrived to a warm welcome. Menu offers plenty of choice and food was great. Family friendly atmosphere and reasonably priced. Will certainly be going back to sample some more dishes.

This place is really worth going to - their freshly prepared pasta is divine and their pizzas are the best in Molesey!The staff are friendly, although sometimes can be a bit aloof (depending on who serves you) - but all in all they are super efficient, attentive and above all the food is excellent and at really reasonable prices!

Lovely food! We hadn't been in ages but went recently with some friends and if anything, they have improved massively! Their pizzas are proper Italian base and simple toppings which make it really crispy and enjoyable! We had the calamari starter and they were delicious! The staff are great too!
