I knew that this pub was under new management and my friend had recently been here and said the meal was good so I thought I would invite me friends for dinner, I was not disappointed, the service, food and cosiness of the pub was excellent and would return, I had to trout and crumble and it was delicious and could of done with some more custard. Freddie who took our order and served us was exceptionally professional and funny too. Only minor point is when we were going in from the back it looked like it could do with a bit of love and pretty flowers. Look forward to returning maybe in the autumn when the fire is on.

We recently had dinner at the Red Lion for my husbands birthday and we had a really good time. The customer service was 100%, with every staff member going out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. The food came out quickly and everything tasted delicious! A huge thank you to Lora & the team!! One thing I would suggest that would make the experience even more brilliant is adding a more substantial vegan option. The Beetroot Rosti was absolutely delicious but not very substantial compared to some of the meat options on the menu. Overall, we had a fantastic time and will definitely be back.

We booked a table for four adults for a Saturday evening. The food was excellent, including vegetarian option. Good, friendly service. Old, rural pub with outdoor area. Check opening times before going. Will definitely be returning.

Loved how friendly and helpful everyone was. Food was cooked fresh and was very tasty. Nice to see some of the menu items had smaller plate options. Very nice atmosphere to sit for drinks or food. Will be back soon.

We didn’t realise that the restaurant had moved and were very surprised to find it closed. However, we found a contact phone number on their website and the owner gave us directions. It was well worth persevering because the food is excellent and reasonably priced. So much so that we decided to return the following evening. We would definitely eat here again if we are in the area again. Unfortunately, it is too far for us to travel for just a meal an£ we would need an over nite stop. Highly recommend.

Having lived within a mile of this place all my life I've NEVER seen a Ferrari parked out front! What your photo fails to convey is what a dangerous place this is to park, it's on a blind bend. Please find a more appropriate photo as this one creates an entirely false impression.

Definitivamente volveremos.

We walked to the pub and were met with a warm welcome from Roberto and colleagues. We ordered a selection of Italian tapas and all were delicious. Served very promptly by friendly Italian waiters.

Such a shame to lose what used to be a great traditional country pub serving great British pub food to what is now a mediocre Italian restaurant.

Just the facts:It is still a quaint old beamed village pub but not a 5 star restaurant. Table space is at a premium. No table cloths. No space for restaurant table decoration (plain and simple - just like a pub).Nice pub atmosphere. Quite busy on a Friday evening. There is table service but staff are inexperienced and appear untrained (no cutlery, swapping condiments between tables).A two course meal with a glass of wine (or a pint) will cost you about £25 to £30 per person (Oct 2014).I had Gnocchi which was overcooked. The rest of the food was OK but just OK.You pay extra for bread (£2 per head) but there was no cover charge. Some income optimisation is evident. Ask for antipasto and it will be served without bread. You then have to purchase bread making a £19 starter for two. Ouch!Waiters don't come round with the huge pepper grinder. So, it is not very Italian.Check your bill carefully. I was accidentally overcharged for 2 drinks.4 out of 10 - Give it a try. Happy eating out . . . .

We came all the way from Wiltshire for a Sunday lunch with friends, drawn in by the 'kids eat free' promotion advertised by this establishment. My wife, who handled the booking, clearly stated we were six adults with three well-behaved children. Despite this, our booking was declined, with the excuse of a high volume of reservations. Curious, we later walked by to find the restaurant practically empty, quite the contrary to what they'd led us to believe! It's disappointing that they seemingly declined our booking due to having children in our party, especially while promoting family-friendly offers. What's the point of enticing families if you're not willing to accommodate them? Thankfully, we ended up having a lovely meal at Ask Italian, where the service was fantastic. They even offered us a 20% discount! Needless to say, we won't be bothering to book at Pizza Express again.
