Beatiful food and great service

Went for food late afternoon Made to feel very welcomed as soon as we arrived Service excellent and food really good Restaurant very nice and welcoming

Our experience this evening was disappointing. We had our dog with us so we had to sit on the patio which wasn’t an issue. However I had to go into the restaurant to get the manager to give us menus and take our order as we were left outside for too long. I found broken glass under our table which I picked up and gave to the manager. The kids meal didn’t come with the starter and I asked for extra bread for our fondue which never arrived. After our meal, we again had to go inside to order the dessert for the kids meal. Overall the food was fine but the service was poor.

I had a fantastic dining experience at Ask Italian. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cozy vibe that made it the perfect spot for a relaxed evening. What really stood out, though, was the exceptional service. Our waitress, Amy, was incredibly polite, welcoming, and friendly. She made us feel right at home and took care of every detail with a smile. The food was delicious, and combined with Amy’s outstanding service, it was a night to remember. I’ll definitely be back!

Really enjoyable family time. Friendly staff who isn’t afraid to interact with our children. The manager came to my table and offer my some some free garlic bread when he didn’t wanted to eat his pasta.

The service was great, lovely polish man. The olives were delicious. The Vegan Pianta pizza was not great, hardly any toppings or cheese, not very flavoursome, the base was dry lacked moistness and flavour. It could have done with a good drizzle of garlic or chilli oil. (The vegan meatball pizza from Zizzi's was bigger, had more toppings and tasted much nicer). The vegan pistachio and raspberry tart tasted just okay, very small slice for £6.95 and had this with a scoop of salted caramel gelato which was nice. Ice and slice in tap water would have been nice. Meal for two cost over £54 plus 10% tip was for nice waiter rather than quality of food.

Booked on-line with no problem for a table for three people. Greeted and seated promptly when we arrived. Drinks ordered and delivered. Food ordered and my allergy (shellfish) noted. Three main courses arrived and then, last of all, my daughter's prawn starter! My main course (Pollo Della Casa) was only warm. The pasta was cooked but must have been standing under the AC unit before it was delivered to my table. My daughter's main course was also only warm. The third main course, Pizza, was well cooked and hot. I know that we could have sent the two warm main courses back to be re-heated but I believe that the chef should have made sure the food was hot before he sent it out. All three desserts were good. The service was good and friendly.

We were created and waited upon by the lovely kasia. She was informative, attentive and just so lovely. Food was so amazing! It was our first visit, we went for my birthday and we will definitely be back again. Thank you all for the birthday wishes and cheesecake. Thank you

The server didn’t make any conversation with us while she was out at our table. I’m not expecting a full life story, but she barely said more than “hello” to us the entire time we were there. The food was disappointing - nduja sausage bites were overdone/crispy, the nduja pizza lacked toppings and was oily, while the salted caramel gelato had clearly been sitting out for a while as it was partially melted by the time it got to us. I appreciate we went on a Saturday night, but it really wasn’t that busy. The top floor was completely closed and there were maybe 10 other tables (most of whom sat down to eat after us). The whole experience was very “meh” and the food definitely needs improvement

Brilliant amazing food and service

Great food and venue, the app to order food proved entertaining, but didn’t detract from the meal.

Food and staff are absolutely lovely, I love being able to sit outside now and enjoy the food and drink in the sunshine. A wonderful summer menu including summer cocktails and lighter dishes for the hotter weather.

Very long wait for food in a mostly empty restaurant. Garlic bread was burnt slightly and then the vegan main came out with mozzarella on. When we told the waitress it was supposed to be the vegan pomodoro she said “it is” and when then asked what the white stuff was she said “it’s cheese”. Clueless staff that don’t even know their own menu… she seemed very displeased when we asked for it to be redone and instead of remaking it she scooped off the cheese and brought the plate straight back. The other dish had undercooked prawns and the sauce on it was practically water. Both meals were tasteless. Safe to say we were very disappointed as we’ve previously had some very nice meals here but when it was much quieter than today. Even though it wasn’t busy today they struggled to provide even a mediocre service. We even had to ask for menus and were told to go and grab some ourselves. Can finally see why this restaurant is never busy when all the surrounding restaurants are packed.

This place was absolutely amazing great service amazing food and the option to eat inside or outside. If you eat here be ready for an experience that will make you feel like your in Italy. 10/10 experience I would definitely advise you to go

Took 1/2 hour to get a drink, only 8 people in restaurant at 20.45. ordered a starter main and side to be delivered together. Didn't happen. Waiter didn't care, just a nice little girl who saw our disappointment. Potato dish awful, no comment when we left it all. With alot of competition, they're missing something.

Every time ive been in here, it's been empty but the service is still quite slow. Had music on but so dd the chef so it was 2 loud musics competing and it was awful. We were ready to order and the staff member paid no attention to us so we could. Shame as the food was lovely

The advert clearly states free garlic bread when you spend £10 … no garlic bread delivered! I added the item at check out and it showed full price so assume it would be automatically added.. this is really misleading and disappointing!

Quite expensive for what it is. Most of the staff were nice but one of them was actually a bit rude, unnecessarily so. Good vegetarian and vegan options though I noticed.

Decided to come to the basingstoke restaurant today for my husbands 40th birthday lunch . Very dissapointed , drinks orders were wrong twice , no apology .starter was also wrong and v dry, mentioned to the waiter who said he would change the recipt then went over n started whispering to another member of staff who were looking over n giggling ..im not stupid ..v unprofessional. Main meals were delicious but very small. Then at the end of the meal we were asked if we would be tipping when paying on card. Is this normal practise to ask for a tip? Usually I would but the service was unfriendly ,uninviting, and with constant errors .I also thought its a bit of an audacity to ask for a tip . Unfortunately won't be recommending or returning. Service in this place let the chef down as the main meals were delicious . Compliments to the chef ,shame the same can't be said for the staff .

From start to finish, our experience was terrible. We were greeted at the door but then tutted at when we informed our greeter about a peanut allergy - quite surprising to have that kind of reaction from an employee of a restaurant! One of our starters had toasted bread along with garlic mushrooms. The bread was stuck to the plate so completely that it was inedible. In order to have a replacement, my partner had to walk around the restaurant to find someone to help us since the staff were not attentive to customers most of the time. We were given a replacement but then seemed to be placed at the back of the queue for our main meals as we then had to wait an hour for our mains to arrive. When we finally got our dishes we were beyond disappointed since the pizza had no discernible meat on it and was burnt in places and the pasta dish lacked any flavour whatsoever. We were not satisfied to pay almost £70 for this dreadful experience. I would not recommend at all!

Very disapointing meal out tonight, food was pretty poor. Pizzas and calzone terrrible, dry and no flavour. 3 out of 4 people left most of our meals and skipped dessert. This used to be a great place to eat but not tonight. Would have given 2 for food but son said his pasta was good.

Really disappointing meal. Calzone had a hair in it and both were the wrong type when they arrived. The other pizza looked like a school pepperoni pizza. Pasta dish looked good. Mistake and lesson learnt don’t go in there for calzone or pizza.

The pizzas are so small! Haven't been to ASK in a while, but im sure the takeaway pizzas are not the same that are served in the restaurants. The order took ages to arrive, so by the time we got the food we were too hungry to complain. V disappointed

Was 2 hour waiting and the order was missing the main meals. Rubbish

Visited for lunch. Waited more than an hour to get our food. We had a sofa seats but it had lots of small bugs. Ordered 3kids meal and two adult meals, but they completely forgot a pizza for my kid, so we had to ask and she had to wait while we already had ours.. it was not a good experience for us, so won’t be going back.

Food has taken nearly an hour and my pasta is dry?? There is NO sauce. It’s been binned… How can I make an official complaint?

Staff should clean as they work, not work as they clean. The food was lovely but the wait and the service were not worth the visit. 2.5 hours for 1 drink, 1 main and 1 dessert. Staff member informed us she was new to the business alongside the guy who she apologised for, as he was new also. We had to catch the attention of our waitress between service even though there were only 7 tables taken. The food itself was mostly lovely minus the calzone.

Went in, place not busy but only one person serving. Waiter was serving 2 people who were taking their time and asking a lot of questions before ordering. We asked politely if we could sit anywhere and abruptly told to stand by the door and they would be with us when they were ready. Indeed, we did stand by the door, just on the outside and then went to the pub next door! What a shambles from Ask, they need more staff to deal with people as they come in. I noticed another couple did the same thing behind us!

When she eventually reluctantly sat me down at my table I asked her whether she was okay and she explained to me that she was exhausted and complained about the management that there were too few staff and were rushed off their feet. Each time she came to the table she made a further complaint about how tired she was and wanted the service to end. I felt very uncomfortable with this and decided that I would cut the meal short and order fewer items from the menu as we did not want to trouble the member of staff. I found this to be highly unprofessional and unfortunately have no intention of returning to the restaurant in the future. I actually decided to leave the restaurant and have our final course at the Cosy Club a few doors down. The contrast in level of service was staggering and we wish we hadn't entered the Ask restaurant in the first place. I did try to pay by a gift card which I had purchased but the till system wouldn't give change from a gift card so I asked to be charged for a drink that the server forgot to serve me earlier in the evening. The till device (apparently called pronto?) caused huge frustration to the member of staff and she sat down on a chair next to me to explain how frustrating it was. Once again I find this very unprofessional and I would never do this in my own hospitality establishment.

This is a lovely friendly restaurant with great food. Our lovely waitress, Chloe, made our visit very special. We definiteley be back for more Chloe
