The best restaurants serving Italian food in North West

Our party booked ahead and preordered, the place had only a few other customers so it wasn’t busy. Meals only started being served after an hour and a half with no apology or explanation. When the food did come some orders were missing, some meals were inedible, some only arrived after other people had finished eating. The manager/supervisor did not come and apologise or offer explanation, he stayed away downstairs. When he was approached about taking a meal off the bill due to it being inedible, he said there was nothing he could do as a good will gesture apart from remove the item from the bill. Two of the meals were inedible and the quality of the others served was on the whole quite poor. I am so surprised as this place used to be so good.

We have been here many times and it never lets us down. Service is friendly and the menu is authentic. My Dad and I had a laugh or two with the waiters and there is also a very good choice of wines by the glass. The 40 minute bus journey for us definitely justifies the experience. A la prossima!

Great atmosphere, delicious meal, friendly staff and really good value for money. We are new to the area and very pleased to discover Barchetta as our new local restaurant! Plenty of choice on the menu, we are looking forward to our next visit.

Had a fabulous bottomless brunch today. The menu was varied for both food and drinks. I had the steak which was amazing. Staff were attentive and aware of when drinks need refilling so never had to wait long. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

The food was really good, would go back. Service was slow, but it was busy and there were only two people serving and making drinks - so fair play to them two! They do have lots of gluten free options. Overall, we were there for two hours whilst we had a bottle of wine and a main meal.

Booked this for my birthday today as I had heard so much about it. It was so disappointing. It was Mad Friday (I blame the parents) Atmosphere was non existent. Half the tables were empty. Food was very poor - we all had pizza and it was the worst I have had in a long time. I am on Slimming World and was prepared to blow it for my birthday as a treat, I am so disappointed. We are trying all the restaurants in town and so far this is by far the worst, we won’t be back £90 for 3 pizzas (small tart type, mine was very doughy), 1 chips, 4 beers and 2 glasses of wine

Went to this little gem for a mix of Sunday lunch, early bird main menu and kids meals....well what a surprise it was. Food was hot and great portions, service was fab, staff were super friendly and accommodating (even with our noisy rabble) wasn't waiting long for anything and fussy kids really enjoyed it...the fussiest even loving the lobster ravioli...all in a all great value for money 💰 and honestly so surprised...if you haven't already give it a try! You will not be disappointed 😌

Second time here for the bottomless brunch, probably the best value for money one I’ve been to in Preston. The food is amazing, Prosecco/cocktails are good quality and the staff are lovely, can’t do enough for you. Highly recommend.

A hidden gem! We absolutely love The Italian and we’ve been several times since moving to Romiley in summer 2024. Delicious food which offers great value for money. The portion sizes are always generous. Can’t fault the service - the staff have always been incredibly friendly and welcoming. We love The Italian and will continue to support this fab local business!

Best pizzas in prestwich (and beyond!) Been here a number of times since it opened and it’s always tip-top. The pizzas are amazing but also the selection of sides really makes it. (Not had a burger there yet so can’t comment on those.) They definitely have the edge over Rudy’s which IMO is nice but a bit more run of the mill.

Welcomed, seated, ordered drinks. Busy. Music far too loud. Food ordered, ten minute wait. Delicious. One grumble - portion size - immense. Wish there was an option for a more moderate size - same price, just less waste. Friendly helpful staff.

Call in here quite often for their cooked breakfast. Always fresh and always tasty. I haven't tried any of their other food that's on the menu but if their breakfast is anything to go by it should be good.

We attempted to order through just eat and then the restaurant stopped taking orders resulting in an order being made on the phone direct. There was a difference between the price on just eat and direct with just eat being cheaper and you get a free garlic bread through just eat but not direct? The wait time was 1hr 30 mins for collection and when turning up at the time slot given we were told to wait a further 15 minutes so they could serve a big table in the restaurant? The order was then incorrect with a main dish missing and a main dish which wasn’t ordered being given to us and charged for although refunded. A side of veg was ordered but it was a side salad which was given which again was wrong. Overall, the experience was very very poor and not worth the near two hour wait for the order to be wrong even when the person on the phone reconfirmed the order. Not worth the hassle.

Visited here again, it is ok, very average, the pasta sauce was quite meaty tasting, which was surprising for a tomato based sauce. It was an arrabettia sauce, but very little meat and just filled with baby tinned tomatoes.

Really enjoyed the food, much better than a usual takeaway pizza. Picked the order up and the shop incredible, assume Italian owner listening to great relaxing Italian music. No complaints from us.
