First time myself and my friend been here. Was very impressed. Good sized portions and delicious food. Atmosphere and service excellent. Good prices for the standard of food. Will come again !/

My wife and I have dined at this restaurant quite a few times over the past few years and have generally been very happy and complimented the staff and owner. Unfortunately this was not our experience 22/09/24. I sent 2 meals back with a full explanation as to why they were inedible. This being a one off I would have been happy to delete from memory but the owner was incredibly defensive, rude and insulting towards me for sending this food back and asked what was he to do about it. He was convinced there was nothing wrong with the food. He was not prepared to delete these meals from my bill and said to the staff when we arrived that we would not be satisfied with their food and try not to pay. I was completely shocked at his response and inability to accept fault when his food was below standard. I paid for the wine and left never to return to this restaurant again. I wouldn’t normally make a complaint in public but this owner does not deserve your custom and will not accept any constructive criticism. Food error can be corrected but an Arrogant Owner cannot.

Really nice place. We have been a couple of times and always really enjoy it. The atmosphere is really chilled, the staff are friendly and the food is yummy. Prices are average, if not a little lower than some places which is a bonus!

We’ve eaten at this restaurant over the years and always enjoyed it. The staff are attentive and helpful and the wine is great. The menu is extensive with one or two unusual choices which we loved such as the tagliatelle casalinga (delicious!). My husband had the pavlova, again beautiful. If you’ve been to other local Italian restaurants you won’t be dissapointed with anything at the Al Bosco.. you might just be very pleasantly surprised!

Really enjoyed our visit here. Reasons: Service was excellent, thanks to Alex, our server (apologies if the name is slightly wrong). Also, cleanliness, decor, and of course, the food. I will certainly return, and can recommend. Small detail for me, having spent so long in Italy; the portions are rather on the large side. The pasta is good, given that this is Bury and not Bari (if you know, you know).

As I've put in the stars, it was okay. I expected alot more on a Friday night but didn't have the atmosphere as it wasn't busy. What we found is , the food was really well priced but the quantity and quality lacked. I would maybe try again but as I always say try it yourself this is only my review. Service was spot on and couldn't do enough for you.

I recently visited Al Bosco Italian restaurant in Summerseat and had a mixed experience that compelled me to share my thoughts. While I appreciate their attempt to address the issue, the undeniable impact on my health contradicts their assurance. It's crucial for restaurants to not only claim adherence to dietary restrictions but also ensure that the implementation aligns with the needs of patrons. This experience highlights the importance of continuous diligence in catering to individuals with specific dietary requirements. Overall, Al Bosco has potential, particularly for those without dietary restrictions. However, for individuals with conditions like coeliac disease, I recommend exercising caution and perhaps choosing a different place to eat.

I came for a meal with my girlfriends. I was looking forward to the lamb shank that I had once before however, it was no longer on the menu. The starters - mozzarella sticks - were mediocre and the mains - prawn pasta (recommended by the head waiter) - were dry and disappointingly tasteless apart from the very few prawns and sprinkles of parsley. My friend was mortified at receiving only 5 ravioli, however we had a good laugh about it all and it was certainly a night to remember! I now laugh at the sight or mention of Ravioli, so thanks for the memories, but next time I'll just go up to the Coop for a tastier (and much cheaper) Italian.

Can't fault the service ..and the Atmosphere but the food was not good tonight ... It was bland... Pasta was hard and the Chicken were little square bits like processed chicken.. Little Sauce so quite dry which is a Shame as I've had better meals there

Always love this restaurant and food, but tonight it wasn't the best. The starters were perfect but two of the main dishes were not up to usual standard. My friend ordered a chicken pasta dish . The chicken was in small cubes and was tasteless. It was as if it was frozen cubes of chicken. I had one of the specials, which was a bolognaise sauce with Penne pasta and Mozorella cheese. Although nice it tasted bland and far too much Penne. Quire disappointing. The staff and service is great though.

Absolutely love this little Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is friendly, and once having eaten you are not forced to move or asked to leave, which is a god send as I like to make eating out a full evening. The owner and staff couldn't do enough for us, without being intrusive. The food, well that was exceptional, everything cooked to perfection.

Been to Al Bosco a few times in the last 2-3 years and always had excellent service and food. Staff have been friendly, chatty, professional and the food delicious. Good value for excellence.

I used to go regularly on my own and with my family , sometimes it was good and other times not so good. One day I went and the owner was very rude to me. He said that I walked right past him without speaking when i went in , so he wouldn't serve me or provide a take away service. The truth is that I am partially deaf and didn't hear anything. This arrogant non empethetical attitude has lost him valuable custom.

This is a regular for us! Delicious food whatever you order. Wine is really well priced.

Things I liked and disliked at this restaurant, hence awarding a rating of 3 stars. The welcome was pleasant, seated right away and asked what drinks we wanted. Enough time allowed to select from the menu. We ordered garlic bread with cheese, garlic mushrooms on ciabatta and pate. The pate was completely tasteless, dry and disappointing. No one bothered to ask if we enjoyed our starters, so we didn't bother complaining. The main meals were hit and miss, we were a party of 5, 3 of the meals were nice and 2 were poor. I'm not quite sure how an authentic Italian restaurant can get lasagne and carbonara so wrong. At first my son thought he'd been given a vegetarian lasagne, as he couldn't see or taste any mincemeat in. My grandson left most of his carbonara. Again, no one bothered to ask if everything was OK with our meal. We received a complimentary piece if chocolate cake for my grandson's s birthday, that was a nice touch. I did enjoy my tagatelle dish, so no complaints there. Bill came to £140, so very reasonable for party of 5. That included 4 starters, 5 main meals, bottle of wine, 3 beers and 4 soft drinks. The restaurant was busy, most of the waiting staff pleasant. It wasn't t a disaster, just a shame that some of the dishes were a let down.

Absolutely love this restaurant. Every time I go the food is lovely and staff fantastic. Great menu, lots of choice and reasonable prices. My go to Italian every time. Can’t fault it.

Its gone downhill a little bit to be honest, the Risotto I had wasn't cooked properly and he always seems to have a new chef (who doesn't seem to understand Italian cooking) not a great experience and it's a shame because it could be so nice. Not very impressed and seen as it's all about the food, I'd give it a miss.

First visit here from Ireland and can't fault it whatsoever amazing food, amazing staff, and amazing atmosphere. Look forward to visiting again 😀

I recently had the pleasure of dining at AL Bosco in Summerseat, and I must say that everything was absolutely delicious. The wood-fired pizzas were simple and delicious like Italian cousin should always be, and the pasta dishes were from equally quality. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were all friendly and attentive. However, I did find the portion sizes to be a bit on the small side. While the flavors were outstanding, I found myself wanting just a little bit more food to really satisfy my appetite. Despite this, I still thoroughly enjoyed my experience at AL Bosco and would recommend it to others. The prices are very reasonable, and the overall atmosphere and service are top-notch.

Attended a family gathering at the birthday girl favourite eatery. Not overly impressed with the food, very bland in general. Asked for a latte with oatmilk to be told they don't do oatmilk, my wife asked for a skinny latte, "we dont do semi skimmed milk" " we're not Starbucks" I said but you are a vegetarian/vegan resteraunt, "we don't do vegan, anyway there's nothing wrong with ordinary milk" Just think how much more business you would get if you did though, "when did you last see a Vegan resteraunt on Italy" I'm not vegan nor vegetarian, just like an oatmilk latte, looks like I'll be having my latte somewhere else in future.

Visited in July for my birthday meal. We’ve used this restaurant for years and supported them throughout lockdown with their takeaway service. Firstly we ordered the mussels. They were completely smashed up, we ate what we could. Then for a birthday treat me & my husband ordered the sirloin steak cooked medium to rare. When it arrived it was like a shrivelled up pork chop! Tried to cut it, it was so fatty you could even get your knife through. I quietly asked for the manager. He came to the table saying, ‘what’s the problem?’ In a very rude manner. I explained nicely about the steak, and he replied, ‘it’s sirloin, that’s what sirloins are like!’ I asked him to cut it himself which he wouldn’t and offered us chicken or veal, or a fillet steak if we paid the extra money. He completely insulted my intelligence as if I didn’t know what a sirloin steak was!! We ended up giving him our full plates back & said we will pay for what us & the children had eaten & drank. Then the bill came and we had been charged for the children’s ice cream that didn’t even arrive!! What a lovely birthday meal. He was so, so rude and arrogant. We will def not be returning and would never recommend!! Rude, rude, rude!!!

Excellent Italian-style restaurant.

This is a smart and stylish restaurant, and we enjoyed a very good meal. It took some time for our order to be taken, but after that, service was efficient and friendly. My minestrone was okay, but somewhat disappointing, too heavy on the tomato and too light on the vegetables. It lacked body, though granted that minestrone isn’t a heavy soup. The sea bass on linguine with courgettes and spinach was totally delicious in every respect, though two, rather than one fish fillet, would have been welcome, especially for the price charged (though the menu does say fillet, rather than fillets!). We also shared some extra vegetables. Lemon sorbet was top class, accompanied by limoncello. The house Sauvignon was a very good choice. Al Bosco has a ‘grown-up’ feel to it, and I would say that it isn’t suitable for children. Overall, a satisfying and recommendable experience, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Went on a Saturday evening to celebrate a family birthday. Restaurant was full but the service was fantastic. All of the staff were friendly and efficient. Lots of choices on the menu and all of the food we ordered was well presented and tasty. We would not hesitate to recommend.

Lovely Italian restaurant in Summerseat. First time I've been and I'll definitely be going back. Everything was cooked to order and very tasty. If I had one criticism is would be the tomato garlic bread we ordered as a shared starter, unfortunately is was slightly burnt underneath and was too dry, it just needed more sauce and a minute less in the oven. The staff were particularly friendly especially Paz who was very chatty 😄 Parking was a little tight.

The staff were very friendly and service was good. Our only disappointment was the garlic bread we had to start was burnt underneath. The piece I ate was ok but noticed that other people had left theirs. I ate the salmon which was cooked perfectly and very tasty. All our party enjoyed their meals. There is a nice atmosphere and would go back.

First (but definitely not the last visit) to Al Bosco with a group of friends. Lovely restaurant, very clean and nice decor and great service, seated straight away and the staff were all excellent, very attentive and provided great service. Now to the most important part, the food! No complaints at all, I enjoyed both my courses and my friends, who all had different meals, enjoyed their meals just as much. I had mushrooms with goats cheese to start, absolutely delicious but my main was even better! As a seafood lover I always go for a seafood risotto or pasta but opted for the salmon and prawn skewers and I’m so glad I did, they were gorgeous! Big portion sizes too, so 2 courses in and I was full to bursting! Really great value and a lovely evening with friends. Can’t wait to go back and try something else off the ample menu! I’d recommend This restaurant to anyone visiting Bury (whilst the address is Summerseat, it’s really not too far a drive, just outside of Greenmount really). See you again soon Al Bosco!

As has been noted in other reviews, the dreadful manager working here is letting this restaurant down. We booked in this restaurant because it's local and requested a side seat because our 3 year old daughter falls off their slippy seats. The manager we spoke to on the phone, was happy to accommodate. On arrival the manager directed us to a seat in the middle of the room. We then requested a side seat as had been promised. In response to that, he started to argue where we should sit in a rude and unprofessional manager, even giving us parenting advice. Disappointed with how the manage handled the situation, we decided to leave. While leaving the true issue became apparent, he was annoyed because we had cancelled an hour before a visit the week before. This is the first time we have ever witnessed a complaint on that basis, and we found it to be extremely petty. He was using this as a reason to be difficult on our return visit and continued to argue with us while leaving with our daughter. I'm pretty sure this manager would start an argument with a piece of garlic bread, he's a disgrace to the restaurant and should let his staff handle customer bookings, arrivals and table service. Or he should quit entirely. This is the worst restaurant experience we have ever had, and will never return until under new management. Avoid this place at all costs. I suggest you drive a mile further and visit Tre Ciccio or San Leonardo who offer much better service and food for a similar price.

Family Christmas get together. A very well presented restaurant, lots of nice touches, attention to detail, spotlessly clean, classy table settings with linen tablecloths ( gets extra points) , bright & airy. A very warm welcome backed up by excellent service ( yet not intrusive) . Great menu , quality, presentation & absolutely delicious & for the overall experience we felt represents good value. We look forward to our next visit.

Being used to eating in italian restaurants in italy i always find fault with them in other countries. The lasagna was small and soaked in sauce which hid the size. The calamari was more like totano ie a cheaper similar but was tasty. The carbonara...

Cannot rating high enough! Started with the booking of 3 and easily changed to 5 without any hesitation or hassle! Such friendly staff and such amazing food i can’t justify enough in words!! Definitely recommend.

We went for dinner as a family for our anniversary. Staff and food were amazing. Lovely ambiance and great location

Firstly they appear to have lost our booking, but that didn't really matter as they had room for us. We were seated immediately and then we waited for 15 minutes before we had to ask for someone to come to take our order, the lady that did so was very polite. We ordered 3 pasta dishes and two garlic breads which we asked to all arrive together. The garlic breads arrived quickly and they were very nice indeed, but then we had to wait another 40 minutes for our pasta and in all that time nobody even checked on us or asked if we wanted any drinks, which we did because it was extremely hot in there. My son's bolognese seemed ok as he ate it all with no problem, but in a first for my wife and I, we both left our meals. Mine was particularly poor, the salami in my spicy pasta dish was inedible and even though I have a perfectly good set of teeth, I couldn't get through it and discretely spat it out. Even the wine was horrible. I'm no wine snob but I find that if I'm in doubt then Merlots are generally consistently good, but theirs tasted like it came from a bottle that had been left open in direct sunlight for a couple of weeks - absolutely revolting.

We visited as a party of four and we were really well looked after. There was a good choice on the menu - I would recommend the fish risotto.

Waited an hour for the starter - when it finally arrived there was a fly floating in it clearly visible to staff in the kitchen and serving staff - all of whom seemed to not really care and offered half baked explanations for delays. Apparently it takes an hour to cook a chicken dish! Just be honest! Clearly problems in the kitchen. A further hour and fifteen minute delay for main course which was over cooked when it arrived. Really disappointing - please don’t go!!!!

Went here Wednesday for a family meal.we were made very welcome by the staff and enjoyed drinks at our table whilst we looked at menu ..food was absolutely gorgeous and our boys loved theres too . Thank you for a great meal

Davide and his team are always welcoming and attentive and this visit to Al Bosco was no different. We had a wonderful Mother's Day meal with the family. The food and wine was delicious and the staff were as excellent as ever. Would highly recommend.

We had booked a meal here for my birthday, and due to the place being busy were unable to reserve a table until 8.30 pm. We arrived a few minutes early and were asked to wait at the bar. By nine o'clock we were still waiting. When we were eventually taken to our table, we again had to wait a long time for anyone to take our order. There were no explanations or apologies and the food itself, when it came, was only average. We won't be going back.

This restaurant is certainly worth the difficult road to reach it. The food is outstanding as is the service. Contrary to other reviews in here we found the manager and his staff were exceptionally polite and added to a great meal out.

Went here on the 14th for a meal and I was pleasantly surprised as I last visited many years ago when it first opened.

We visited for a family birthday and had a wonderful meal. Excellent service and even played happy Birthday when delivering desserts! The fillet steak was delicious as were the pizzas! They even had a tasty risotto for a vegan diner. First ever visit but we will be back!

Yesterday was Christmas Day, a day in which our family love to go out for a meal to take the stress off my nana for making Christmas dinner! This was the first year we decided to come to al bosco for our Christmas dinner at the price of £59.95 per head and 10 of us for Christmas dinner. We sat down at 3pm, the last family to be booked in at the restaurant to find out on Christmas Day they had ran out of Turkey? What kind of establishment books in people for Christmas Day, therefore knows the number of people they should be providing for and doesn’t even apologise for not having any turkey left for dinner? This was an absolute joke for starters but that wasn’t the only thing that absolutely shocked us at this meal! Add in the fact that the starter of salmon and prawns were absolutely disgusting, the shrimps they served cannot be classed as prawns and were disgusting. Two of us ordered the pâté to receive one dish with 2 pieces of stale bread on and then the other person get 4 pieces of stale small pieces of bread. So up to now we were forced to all have steak at Christmas dinner instead of turkey and have eaten shocking starters. The steak itself redeemed the meal however the amount of potatoes, one roast potato per person was ridiculous! Also the wait in between courses was a joke, we didn’t get to leave the restaurant until 6:30pm after the service we recieved was rude and disgusting! The blonde woman at the bar was miserable and really really rude! At the end of the meal the desserts were being looked forward to, to find that everyone ordered profiteroles and they only had 2 portions left for 10 people who all wanted them?! Then the replacement dessert of cheesecake was disgusting like a thick frozen piece of rubbish! The worst part of this meal was the ordacity for them to not even offer a discount to the meal considering they had nothing that they claimed to have on the set menu? My grandad was given the bill of almost £800 which he had to argue and refuse to pay for them to discount it the tiniest amount. Why would a fine establishment allow this to happen and allow their customers Christmas to be ruined. As long standing customers of this restaurant our experience means we will never be returning to this place and would definitely not recommend it to anyone! They obviously just wanted a lot of money and therefore ruined their reputation and standard of quality and professionalism. We were extremely upset and disappointed and as I said will never return.

Went for a Xmas night with my sister in law. Been a while since our last visit but absolutely wonderful. The reception given to us was lovely as usual and the meals were gorgeous. Won’t leave it as long to re visit.

Overall a lovely birthday meal, food came out all together (as much as it could for such a large group) good general service. Prawns to start were amazing. My pizza lacked in toppings (I know Italian is sparse, but this was more bare!) and my wife’s salad (ordered as a main) was tiny - had to ask for a side salad to top it up.

Visited on a Sunday - late lunchtime. We had a great time. Food was fabulous, regardless of whether ordered from the ‘main’ menu or the incredibly good value lunchtime menu. Service excellent. Highly recommended.

I booked a table for 5.30 today. Our party included two small children, 5 and 3 so we wanted to order in a reasonable time. After asking a waiter 3 times I went to the desk at 6pm to ask again. The manager said , ‘you must be joking, you’ve only been here 10 minutes’. When I said we had arrived at 5.30 he scoffed at me and told me I was exaggerating and to chill and was uninterested in the children’s needs. Although the service of the meal by the other staff was good,at the end of the meal with the children obviously tired I had to ask 3 times for the bill. On leaving the restaurant I told the manager I was unimpressed by his rudeness and he proceeded to argue with me again. Although the food was good I would be very,reluctant to return to this establishment. On previous visits the same person had been charming and attentive so I was very; disappointed by this experience.

We went here for the third time with friends & family. Both other times the service was good, the place itself looked good but food was average. This time more of the same. It’s one of those places where you can see the staff make a fuss of regulars with extra attention & probably a free garlic bread. For some this glosses over pretty average food but for me it doesn’t impress & unless someone else is paying I won’t be going back. From our 5 in the group of 7 no one had a good report on the food. So if you like a free garlic bread & your ego massaged then this could be for you. If you like great food then give it a miss.

Three companions enjoying a day out to lunch. We were very lucky to have the restaurant to ourselves as usually it’s packed to the rafters. Starters avacado and buffalo cheese and scallops excellent. Mains sea bass for two of us and margarita pizza then and tiramisu for dessert excellent. Our meals couldn’t be faulted and service was fabulous. Highly recommended.
