Dokes Pizzeria in Bury

Their 30% offer in feb post is misleading, to see how to get it you need to press on “more” on post so we were refused it, however chef / manager? agreed himself that it isnot the first time it is an issue. I commented on the post on instagram and was instantly blocked and comment removed. They also blocked me from the Elnecot acc, which I mentioned was fab (???). Their facebook has only good reviews on although only 86% recommend the Dokes - they clearly remove unfavorable ones on there. All in all it is crazy that reputable place like this has such a bad social media management and only allows good comments.

Best pizzas in prestwich (and beyond!) Been here a number of times since it opened and it’s always tip-top. The pizzas are amazing but also the selection of sides really makes it. (Not had a burger there yet so can’t comment on those.) They definitely have the edge over Rudy’s which IMO is nice but a bit more run of the mill.

Been a couple of times- once for pizza menu, once for Sunday roast menu. Great pizzas but my veggie roast was a bit disappointing -the beans in the nut roast were too hard and it was a bit bland, same for the stuffing. The veg was also too hard. My partner really enjoyed the beef roast though. Dokes maybe you need to revise your veggie roast. Good friendly service.

The girl who works on front of house has a terrible attitude problem. Not very welcoming.

The burgers are the best around! We’ve been a few times and had both pizzas and burgers. Pizzas unfortunately look great but lack flavour and with Rudys across the road there is no comparison. Their burgers on the other hand are really something special. The best burger I’ve had in Manchester. Always so juicy and taste amazing you can tell it’s made with really high quality ingredients and very generous portions !! Wish they’d concentrate on their burger offering and really feel this is something that Prestwich is missing as we are very saturated now with Pizzas.

The food is fantastic, best pizza! And the service was lovely.

Came for an impromptu after school dinner with my 4 year old. We were the only people when we arrived at 5 but it was pretty busy when we left. Not surprising the food was fabulous. Been before and always had pizzas which are amazing, but we both had burgers today and they were lovely. The beef burger is full of beautifully cooked onions which makes in a tad messy but totally worth it. Will be back.

Second time eating at Dokes. Really good service. All the staff looked after us and were very attentive to our dietary requirements. The food was delicious. We orders the Margherita, The White Fields calzone and a Garlic Bread! Ending with a delicious Sticky Toffee pudding! 🤤 Highly recommend. One of the best pizzerias in the North West! 💯

Ordered wings and ribs to start which were really good! For mains we had the white field calzone and fried chicken burger. The chicken burger had been burnt to the point the batter was black and when I asked the waitress she said thats what its meant to look like. I was a bit confused by her response but tried to eat anyway and could tell it would have been delicious had it not been burnt. Everything else was really nice and the service was good just a shame about the burger and the waitress saying it was meant to be like that to avoid having to redo it.

Very good food; we had the Sunday roast. They know what they're doing as the roast and so the trimmings were cooked very well. Low light atmosphere and good service. You need to book to make sure of a table. They also have a small sit down bar area. Recommended.

We have been to Dokes a few times for pizza which have been delicious every time but today we went for their Sunday roast and I’ve had to come and write a review because it was incredible and the best I’ve had in a while! The broccoli cheese was so so good!! We also had the cinnamon swirl cheesecake for dessert which was 10/10.

Quite literally shocked by the poor service from the head chef / owner tonight. Having received my order within 5 minutes of the driver leaving the restaurant (I live two streets over) - the pizza arrived cold while the rest of the order was piping hot? When I popped back to the restaurant the head chef proceed to tell me everything was cooked at same time and made me feel like a bit of a dick for complaining and said there was nothing he could do? Sending food out cold is totally unacceptable - also cooking fries 2-3 times in the frier and sending them out for £4 is WILD! Customers should be served the same level of food regardless of whether it’s in the establishment or by takeaway - something you might want to consider before Rudy’s opens its doors!

The Sunday roast at Dokes in Prestwich is superb. Beautifully cooked beef, succulent and tasty, with generous portions of veg, topped by a giant Yorkshire pud. Attentive service and all competitively priced. Judging by the full restaurant it's a local favourite. Worth a visit.

I just got treated to a Dokes, it was delicious. I had the Beowulf pizza, fries and truffle mayo, with sticky toffee pudding. The food was glorious, the staff, especially our waitress was brilliant. We will definitely be going again! Thanks all at Dokes.🙋💪

Been here a few times and it does not disappoint the calzone is so nice it’s hard to try the other options. I’m sure they are as good as they look! We also had some side dishes which were lovely and the wine options go down a treat. Every time I’ve been the staff have been really nice, but I would recommend booking as it can get busy!

Got a takeaway pizza on the weekend and oh my god it was horrific. Normally get nice pizzas from here but this one was terrible by any standards It was burnt so bad that is didn’t even sound like I was eating a pizza

Came for the roast today and it was incredible! The waitress was lovely, super attentive and we didn't feel rushed. I had the chicken wings, the beef roast and the basque cheesecake and everything I ate was a 10/10! I have had the roast at Elnecot so had big expectations and it certainly lived up to it. Will certainly be back or getting a delivery, thank you for a fantastic Sunday

The pizza was very nice and filling, although the toppings were abit 'runny'. The sauces were nice(tried them all), especially the honey but the blue cheese sauce is ridiculously watered down and therefore tasteless. Chips good, services good , equally and value for money all good. Would eat here again.

Since my review which follows this. I've recently been as a party of 6 for their Sunday menu. When it came to desert that provided a different menu compared to their Sunday menu. All the deserts contained fruit which meant that 4 of us who would have ordered now didn't. Additonaly those who had dessert said it was dry and flavourless. I've been 3 times so far and the pizza has always been perfect.

Our first visit to Dokes. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The decor and atmosphere was both tasteful and relaxing and we loved our food choices: Calzone and Funghi Pizza, with Truffle chips! The Plum Negroni was to die for!! Definitely planning a return visit asap! :)

Love this place. Second time eating here and it was just as perfect as the first. The staff and level of service are unbelievable. You think of something you need or want and before you have chance to even look up it appears. I’m sure they are mind readers. Also the food is fantastic. The pizzas, the ribs, the bavette steak!!! Highly recommend.

Heard good vibes about this place so headed in Sunday pm to be met with tsunami of disappointment. Walked in after eventually somebody noticing us asked for a table for 2. The place was 30/40% max full and said was no tables for 2 hours and that the well know pizzeria was only doing Sunday dinners 😱. I know places have bookings but no way was it booked up. Also we can get Sunday dinner any where why would we come to a well know pizzeria, maybe for Sunday dinner? Really poor first impression all round and massively disappointed, when said this to greeter he was not bothered. Potential new customer lost in 30 seconds.

First visit to Dokes today, we enjoyed their delicious Sunday Roast. We really enjoyed the whole experience. Food was yummy, roast beef and huge Yorkshire puddings with plenty of rich gravy. The cheese cake dessert was one of the nicest I’ve had in a long time. Music was also really good. Will definitely visit again, good food and not bad prices at all. Thank you Dokes.

First time we’ve visited after it was highly recommended to us. It definitely didn’t disappoint, amazing food and faultless service. Looking forward to our next visit.

Fantastic pizza, the Guinness special was amazing.

After a recommendation we went for Sunday dinner. We waited 25 minutes to be served.The roast beef was fatty and tough there was one Carrott one parsnip 3 tiny potatoes and a burnt Yorkshire pudding, the Yorkshire pudding was like a big rock. The stuffing was late and we had to ask where it was, by the time it was brought to our table our roast dinner was cold. Won't be visiting again

First time dining here on entering I loved the surroundings & ambience. Service was very good made to feel welcome. All had the roast dinner, plenty of meat great roast potatoes the Yorkshire pudding was massive & the stuffing was the best I’ve tasted. I will definitely go back cannot recommend enough. 10/10

Had a booking for 7 women for a birthday. Had a great time. Can’t fault the service, really friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, very fresh. We had most of the small plates and nibbles then a few pizzas to share. Not your traditional pizza toppings and they were perfect. Can’t forget the Aperol spritz! 👌 We will be back and highly recommend. Thank you

As well as serving great pizza Wednesday to Saturday, Dokes also have fantastic Sunday lunch menu. A good selection of wines also available.

Tried Dokes for the first time for lunch today, and it was amazing - clean plates all around! We shared some of the appetizers - the chorizo in hot honey was amazing, as we're the padron peppers and olives. The pizzas had really fresh ingredients and great flavour combinations, and the base was perfect- not too heavy, just right. Really impressed with the food, and the service was excellent, really helpful and friendly service. Will definitely be back again very soon.

Bit hit and miss. Been a handful of times and some were really good, however more recently not, the pizza has been very small and totally bland on a few occasions which is a shame. The drinks are very pricey. Great decor but the tables feel quite cramped if not in a booth

I have visited Dokes a few times and the pizzas are delicious. Today we had the new Sunday roast, and it did not disappoint! The service was great and the roast was lovely. Would definitely recommend for a visit!

Visited here for the bottomless brunch. The brunch includes any pizza or calzone, and unlimited drinks from a set menu. Each time we have been, the staff have been brilliant. Really friendly and never left without a drink. The food is all home made and the pizzas are gorgeous, I can highly recommend the calzones. The restaurant itself if really clean, well themed, and unlike most places, the booths are really spacious and comfortable. Highly recommend trying this place!

Had high hopes for this place but left feeling rather underwhelmed. The food choice is very limited, my pizza was burnt. No one came over to check if everything was ok. Even when taking away the plates with half eaten food left we weren’t asked if it was alright. Service seemed very half hearted and unorganised. Not offered any specials. Wouldn’t rush back which is a shame as it has loads of potential.

Went on a Saturday afternoon with the family. The place looks really nice and the food was great but we had to wait AN HOUR for pizzas and pastas even though there were only 2 other tables there.

So today a group of 10 of us came to Dokes for their bottomless brunch, we have tried a few places for bottomless brunch and this is without a shadow of a doubt the BEST. Firstly, the manager was an absolute legend, friendly, kind and engaged in conversation with us. The bottomless brunch itself was impeccable, 90 minutes unlimited drinks and any pizza or calzone for £25 the pizza was absolutely beautiful, amazing variety on the pizzas with beautiful flavours carefully thought out and put together. They kept 10 people absolutely always topped up with drink and beautiful food. They were shooting some pics for their Christmas menu and extremely kindly let us have the food once they'd finished taking the pics and let me tell you, WOW there wasn't a dish I didn't think was absolutely beautiful. Thank you so so much, we will 100% be back. X

My friend's pasta was just warm, the free cucumber water was lovely but my friend was denied more when she asked…being told "we have to make our money!" At £10 per glass, the wine is surely profit enough! I enjoyed my pizza…I waited for the pizza cutter that did not come so decided to use another customers! Not too bad overall and would suggest people give it a try, in all fairness. Gave it a second try, nice enough, but again, my friend sent the pasta back as just warm in the middle. She waited a while for it to come back & I had finished my meal by then! The barman was friendly, personable and informative…he knows how to connect with people so Big thank you for that!

Outstanding. From N’duja garlic bread, which is perhaps my favourite, through to the pizza and calzones. Everything was completely delicious. Great beer, cocktails and service.

11/10. Food was amazing - service was amazing. They even replaced one of the pizzas for us with no extra charge as when the first one came our baby was unsettled so by the time we came to eat it had gone cold. Such a nice touch. Will definitely be returning.

We went mid week for a birthday meal. Good food, great value, nice vibes and really friendly staff. This was my first visit and I’ll be back.

We were very excited to go to this restaurant has had heard so many good things about it. The garlic bread with cheese did not look appealing when it came to the table. Looked Green. This may have been pesto but pesto was not mentioned on the menu for this. Worst garlic bread with cheese I have ever had. My pizza was one with a curry flavour. Sounded lovely, Unfortunately it wasn’t. I ended up leaving it all. When the waitress came to take the plates away she never asked if there was a problem. The seating is poor. When you sit down, there is no upholstery on the seat so you fall into it. The light is a lightbulb above your table so if you suffer from migraine no good. The front door does not shut properly and kept on blowing open and it was on the night of the bad rainstorm. My advice is don’t bother. There are other good pizza places locally that have been going for years if you want a pizza go to one of these.

Fabulous evening with family at Dokes. Lovely atmosphere and nice service..very attentive and warm. Fabulous pizzas! Great dough and toppings, top quality meats and cheeses. Also had garlic bread starters which was again lovely and the most sublime whipped burratta. Best I've had. Highly recommend this place.

Absolute gem! We've been a few times now (usually with our 2.5 year old who has always been made very welcome and been perfectly catered to) and came as a couple on this occasion. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, the service is always friendly and attentive and the food is great. The pizzas are really tasty with perfect dipping crust, and I also highly recommend the truffle and parmesan fries (though I honestly don't think you can go wrong whatever you choose!).

This has to be the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. From walking into the restaurant and being sat by the door, which did not close properly, we were sat at a table where the seating was so low and the cushions had no pump at all. The menu was limited to say the least. I ordered a garlic pizza bread to share as a starter. It lacked any flavour and was far too doughy. My main course was a terrible choice. A mushroom calzone. It had no seasoning and was just a mixture of vegetables folded into a pizza dough and cooked. There was no thought given to flavour and the nushrooms were tough! My wife ordered a pizza which yet again lacked taste. Rather than order a dessert, I had a cappucino whcih was watery and tasted nothing like coffee! We will not be going back!

Really fantastic food. I think we may have visited on the first day of a new menu and I don’t know what the old menu was like, but the new one didn’t disappoint! I think for the quality of the food the prices are fair, probably in line with similar places in the city centre which is fine by me. Lovely atmosphere, nice and chilled out, really lovely interior, and friendly service. The whipped burrata with hazelnut dukkah and honey was insane, and the pizzas we got were both excellent. Really well-balanced flavours all round. My one complaint was that the markup on beer in particular seemed incredibly high. Draught was pretty standard pricing for Manchester, again in line with the city centre, but cans seemed incredibly expensive. I’d 100% come again, because the food was fantastic and I’d like to try more of the menu. I’d just probably not get a beer next time!

Insanely good pizza. We have eaten in, but mostly just order takeout, and while we’ve tried a few we are loyal to the Beowulf. The pizza is five star faultless. Nothing else to say. Try it and tell me I’m wrong! Couple of criticisms: potentially weird opening times - sometimes they’re not open (or not taking orders) when you really want Pizza, and Fri/Sat is often hard to get an order because they’re so popular (they have to temporarily close down online orders).

Bottomless brunch on a Saturday - service by mark, keeping the beers flowing exceptional service, attentive felt really looked after! only to be served by what I can describe as the best pizza in the world served by chef Joe (Beofwulf Pizza) - great service, atmosphere, staff and price. Highly recommend!

Enjoyed my visit here. It's fairly pricey, but (as you can see from the photos) the portions are pretty generous and the good is delicious. I had the ham/pineapple pizza, with the caramelised pineapple being a particular highlight. The truffle fries were also tasty. Worth a visit, a lovely addition to Prestwich.

I want to start by saying that the food is lovely and one of the waiters (potentially manager/owner) was lovely. This was the second time we’d eaten at Dokes, the first just after they had opened. The first time we felt really rushed and they practically threw pizza at us but we put this down to being the first few weeks and needed tables etc. we dined this evening and the service was the same. The restaurant was empty bar 3 tables and we were halfway through our starter when the pizza came and was just thrown down in front of us. We eat out often but were looking forward to this and sharing a bottle of wine. It was a shame that it was rushed. We were in/out in 30 mins and they lost potential money as we would have had dessert/coffee/more drinks. Shame as the food is lovely but we probably won’t go back in a rush

Had lunch with my fiancée and 2 year old. Staff were great, really attentive and food was absolutely incredible. Highly recommend.

Was fairly quiet when myself and my wife attended service was excellent as it has always been on previous visits. I had the calzone which was exceptional. My wife had a vegan margarita which she thoroughly enjoyed. This wasn’t our first visit and it certainly won’t be our last.

Tried this place as it looks promising. Staff are friendly and inside decor is good. However, that's where it ends. Pizza and toppings were very under seasoned, dough consistency was too hard and crispy, didn't have that neopolitan feel to it. Couldn't even taste the cheese or the sauce. Ordered a Margerita and Nduja pizza. I'd rank this place bottom for pizzas in Prestwich. Will stick to Babbo Italian or Croma - much better quality pizzas for the price. Babbos pizzas are leagues ahead.

The 'nduja pizza was amazing! I've got a dip for the crusts but the dough had a really nice flavour by itself (the dip was really good too). Good atmosphere and the waiter was really nice with us arranging the table for two prams and bringing water for them as well. I will definitely come back.

Music too loud. I know I sound all Meldrew, but trying to have a conversation was difficult. Got our order wrong but got a partial refund and got a doggy bag for the erroneous food, so fair play.
