Baci in Bury

Waited 45 minutes for two pizzas, no other courses. A large party were being served after we came in, we were repeatedly told to wait another 5 minutes. No drinks or complimentary dishes were offered. Other tables were served food before us. However, pizzas were good.

Very little to choose if you don't eat meat. Menu needs more thought

The food was great but the service was not. We are Americans who are celebrating our birthdays in England. We spent a lovely day in York and decided to stop in for dinner and possibly get a dessert and celebrate with that. There were six other tables with birthdays and everyone got a song! The atmosphere was festive and that made me excited, so I let the waiter know that we were also celebrating “two birthdays” at our table. He said we wouldn’t get a song because everyone else had reserved their tables and we did not. Wow! Thanks for nothing! They also forgot to bring my tea that I twice had to ask for and never received. We also had to go and search for the waiter for our bill. I guess he was too busy with those people “who already reserved” their tables. I gave the two stars for the food and it would have been much higher but the service brought it down to a two. I guess the waiter didn’t like Americans.

As a coeliac, every time I eat out at a restaurant is stressful, with hardly any places prepared. Bucchi is 100% safe. The staff and kitchen are prepared and trained. Last but not least they are nice and the food is delicious. I highly recommend to everyone.

Not great The kids pizza was actually ok and the girl that was serving was polite think that’s where the positives end. Wouldn’t recommend this place no wonder it’s empty the foods really not worth paying good money for don’t waste yours like we did .

The evening started off poorly when we found the car park at the rear of the restaurant around two thirds full of parked up taxis. When we were shown to our table I got the impression that the waitress thought it a bother to have more customers. The restaurant did have a few occupied tables but was by no means busy. She took our drinks order and we then waited around 20 minutes for her to come and take our meal order. We ordered just a few olives to nibble on rather than having a starter as my husband fancied a dessert instead. I selected the fillet steak rossini and my husband a veal dish with a creamy brandy and wine sauce. We were told there were no steaks as it had been mothers day the previous day. Being a mother, I was well aware of this fact and didn't need reminding. I told her there really wasn't anything else that I fancied and we were there for my husband's birthday. She very ungraciously (we both felt) said she would go and see if there were any, and lo and behold, there was one. Food ordered, we sat and waited for our olives. At least 15 minutes went by before the olives arrived. At one point we were so fed up of waiting that I asked my husband if we should just pay for what we'd had to drink and leave to find somewhere else to eat. Sadly, we decided to stay. The olives eventually arrived. Those eaten it was around another 20 minutes before we were asked if we were ready for our main course. Another long wait. The food eventually arrived. My steak swimming in sauce. We had opted for chips rather than the potatoes but were not brought any veg. If we'd had potatoes, then we could have had the veg, from my understanding. Unfortunately my steak was cooked too much for my liking, although edible but it was only lukewarm. My husband's veal tasted burnt, was tough and the sauce tasteless. When a different waitress asked how the meal was I had to tell her about my lukewarm steak. She offered to get another but I told her that I'd been told it was the only one left, and as we'd already been there well over an hour by this point didn't really want to wait for anything else to be cooked. There's no fun in one person finishing off a meal then having to wait for another meal to be cooked and eaten. We ate all our food because we were hungry but felt after the length of time we'd been there, and the standard of food we'd experienced that we just wanted to go home. We didn't bother with dessert. This was a very disappointing experience. We don't eat out often, but like to eat locally and support local businesses but the attitude of the first waitress, the length of time we had to wait and the quality of the meal has put us off eating here again or recommending it to anyone else. And sadly, it ruined my husband's birthday treat.

On our arrival on a Monday evening we were promptly shown to our table, given menus and our drinks order taken. After a few minutes we decided what we were going to order. We then waiting over 20 minutes for our order to be taken, trying several times to catch the attention of the serving staff member. This was on a quiet Monday evening with only a few other people in the restaurant. My wife ordered the fillet steak but was told they might not have any steaks due to it being mothers day the day before. We were already aware of when mothers day was and did wonder why they would not order more meat in the allow for that. The staff member went to check if they had any steaks and they did so we ordered as well as a bowl of olives for a starter to share. We waited over 10 minutes for the olives to arrive. Once we got our main courses we started to eat and my wife's Fillet Steak was over cooked (asked for medium rare and it was dry). My veal was also overcooked and very tough. Also the sauce with my veal had no flavour at all even though it had Brandy and Mustard etc in it. We ate the food after telling the staff as we were hungry and it was supposed to be a nice Birthday meal for me with my wife. After several attempts to catch the serving staff to pay the bill they came over and had knocked off £10 from the bill. This was the only saving grace and we probably won't be visiting again. We have eaten a lot better for a lot less recently both out at restaurants and at home.

Recently discovered their super value for money menu deal (available most days Inc a Sunday!!) 3 courses for around £16 Their food is good. Their portions are huge. Hard to leave here feeling hungry! Staff are pleasant and helpful. Definitely a recommendation!

The service was terrible wait 30 for our order to be take. My good when it arrived after over 1 hour wait was cold The waitress did not want to be bothered When not go there again not recommend it to anyone. We even had to ask 3 times for the bill. It was not full in fact only half full

Food was ok however service was seriously lacking....with the choice of other restaurants along this stretch, I certainly would not have this place on the top of my list to return too. Service didn't come with a smile, and the attention to detail was definitely lacking. Why would I want Baileys ice cream with my liqueur coffee whoch oddly enough I would usually expect for the liqueur to come in it not with it....and yes, a sprinkle of parmesan on the cannelloni would have been lovely had the server bothered to stay round long enough...left fed & watered but unimpressed

I am so upset to write this I have been going here for years and last night was the worst experience ever! It was a party of 14 and it felt like it was a struggle to serve us even though I booked in advance. The food was awful it was so watery and bland. Also the service was slow and while waiting for the food for a really long time, none of the servers asked for more drinks. I will never go back again!

First visit tonight with friends and the food and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend it and will return.

We called in here Sunday night by chance. Got us a table quickly after drink in very pleasant bar area. We then had the three course set meal thinking bet the portions are small. Not at all, we were struggling!!! Such good food and plenty of it, we will be back for sure. Another nice thing was the chef delivered it personally which was a bonus. A great casual place.

Wow!! First time in Baci, Whitefield. It was booked by my family for my surprise birthday party. The venue is lovely with great staff and excellent food. A very large and varied menu. All in all - 100%!!

Me and my partner went for a Thursday date night, the deal was fantastic. They looked like they were shot staffed and the wait a little longer but they were brilliant and handled it really well and still managed to provide and excellent service. Will definitely go again.

First visit and definitely not our last. Friendly young lad showed us to our table and a guy called Antoine took our order. Lovely friendly guy, attentive and informative. He kinda made our night. Wife had black pudding stack and I had the Mussels. Both dishes superb. Mains were cod wrapped in Parma ham with prawns and mine, strips of chicken, steak and some King Prawns, side of vegetables. Again superb. Cooked to perfection, and tasty. A spot on bottle of Pinot Grigio rounded it off. Could kick myself for not trying this restaurant sooner. Will most definitely be back. We have been visiting here for several years and the quality remains consistently high. One of the few places we order food with confidence it will be fresh, tasty and better than we can cook at home. Service is great too!

We came here for a family meal with my children and grandchildren. The staff are lovely especially the older Italian man who joked with my grandchildren and made us feel so welcome. The food is amazing and big portions, even the children's meals were big plates. We all had the £15.50 3 course meal deal which included all starters, any pizza or pasta for mains and any flavour ice cream with sauce topping or a coffee of your choice. It was brilliant value. We left with full bellys and very happy. We will definitely recommend and return again. Thank you.

Couldn't fault the place, lovely food and nice friendly staff. A great edition to Whitefield we LOVE the 3 courses deal...I come regularly with my family and friends :) definitely be visiting again soon.

On arrival, staff very pleasant. Starters lovely, risotto very bland. However, the restaurant was full of flies so much so the manager placed a fan next to our table and said this would get rid of them. It didn’t!! I was sat facing the open kitchen were the chef constantly used his tea towel to waft the flies away. Complained to the manager who seemed to find it funny. Will not return again. Very disappointing experience.

Was a family meal for 7 people starters was fine 3 of the mains had to be sent back as was stone cold inside,they where calzone pizza.we asked for them to be put back in oven wasn't too bothered about fresh ones being made they returned 10 mins later and was no different still cold n raw inside. By this time the other 4 family members had eaten. To say it ruined our night would be an understatement and the restaurant wasn't even busy so dont understand why the food was cold.sadly we wont be returning.

Came here with friends on a Saturday night. Great food and service. Nice to be able to hold at conversation as we find it difficult to sometimes at the other Baci, in Bolton. Background music didn’t match the restaurant, it was very dated, even for us, in our 60s. 😳. Didn’t put us off though, we will visit again.

We booked there as it was my birthday and wanted a genuine Italian restaurant, not one single Italian there! Asked for the cheese and garlic bread and chilli garlic bread, NO CHEESE on bread even though on the menu loads of cheese. . . I asked for chicken in mushroom sauce, SLOP! Lots of young people there and no management, when I asked was there any Italians there, they said NO! Lasagna was fine as eaten by my friend, my other friend said it was a takeaway Italian meal. I was sorely disappointed as I have worked in Italy for over 25 years and didn’t realise it could be so bad! I did read the reviews and thought, OH it can’t be that bad. . .IT WAS! It wasn’t the waiters/waitresses fault as they were lovely but they should have had a main management figure there overseeing it all! Wont be going back!

Had a family meal here recently. Table for 7 booked weeks ago by telephone but no sign of booking in the book on arrival. However, helpful staff found us a table so I didn't need to get my phone out to prove the call (1st November at 13.59). Waited a while to be properly served but not the fault of staff who seemed to be at their maximum capacity. The food, drinks and service we received was good but slow. A shame as it detracted a bit from the full enjoyment of the occasion. Starters very good as were mains with a few having fillet steaks (good product/well cooked) and others having chicken and fish. Didn't want / have time for puddings / after dinner drink which was a shame. The owner/management need to properly staff the restaurant or risk losing repeat customers. We spent about £400 and would have spent more if we had time but would hesitate to return.

Have visited here 4 times. The first two times were great. Unfortunately, the last two times were not. Basically, the issues lie in the fact that there is no manager on site and it is left up to young lads to do everything. I have to point out this review is in no way a reflection of the lads as they are run off their feet and do their best The food was undercooked eg vegetables microwaved. Stock was running out too eg no glasses of prosecco available.The service is extremely slow, due to the fact that there are simply not enough staff. Prior to our final and last visit, this was my favourite local restaurant. Come on Baci. Get a manager on site and employ more staff. It is simply not fair on the poor customers who are wasting their money and evenings........ Will not return......

I would avoid this place. It’s going down hill and quickly - the food is beyond bland. The pizza is fine but anything else I would have serious questions - just utterly bland and tasteless - it’s like a Ramsey kitchen nightmare to be honest

Last minute decision for a Saturday night meal and able to get a table for 4. Meal was fantastic, service was amazing - staff took our orders quickly, drinks served quickly and staff readily available when needed. Would return in a heartbeat!!

Lovely atmosphere generally speaking and the food was delicious - however the garlic bread starters could do with a portion summary as we were pretty shocked at the size of it having not visited before! Yes great value for money on the garlic bread, but felt bad for waste when we couldn't eat it all. Would return, we did enjoy the food very much. All staff were warm and friendly when they did interact with customers. Our only glaring issue with BACI at the time was the service, we could see that the older gentleman was run off his feet but the younger members of the team were stood about, or not returning to tables to check-in with customers. We waited for what felt like ages between drinks and receiving the dessert menu for anyone to come over - it actually changed our mind, and we decided that we no longer wanted a dessert. Before we chose to come to BACI it wasn't actually clear that you had a cocktail menu anywhere online, we were very happy to see that you had one upon arrival, but this was not apparent in your social-media or Google presence - I think it would be great to make this more obvious because that was almost the difference between us going elsewhere due to the wishes of our party.

Meal was average. Had chicken breast, tomato sauce, vine tomatoes, chorizo and ONE little prawn! Side of veg with boiled new potatoes and the potatoes were cold in the centre. Wish I had what my mum had...looked good and she enjoyed it!

Went for a 16th birthday, food was amazing and gorgeous. Staff were excellent and I would definitely recommend.

Visit here on a regular basis. Great choice of meals to suit anyone. Has a wood fired oven for pizzas and garlic bread. The staff including the owner are friendly

Nice atmosphere, fantastic service and the food was lovely. The only downside is that there is no designated parking area, you would need to find somewhere near. However, we would definately return.

Staff are very attentive and friendly, menu is extensive and the food is genuinely excellent. It sometimes worries me when a restaurant has 30+ dishes to choose from, but somehow Baci pulls it off. I went with a few other people and we ordered a wide selection from the menu; bruschetta, anti pasti, pasta, meat and deserts. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Really a great Italian restaurant.

Not impressed, service was good but food was not. Had duck in tangerine sauce which was very sweet and the sauce was like a jelly , dont think I will be going back.

First time at this restaurant and it was amazing! I'd heard good reviews but what drawn me to it was the Gluten free pasta which did not disappoint but not only was there GF pasta they had pizzas, garlic bread and deserts! And thr staff were lovely and so friendly! The whole night was absoloutely amazing, definitely our new favourite place! Can't wait to go back again

Severely disappointed after hearing so many good things , clearly people have never tried a real Italian restaurant. We ordered the set menu you can order in the week. I ordered the ribs to start which was just ribs in sweet and sour sauce , I expected them to be made in some Italian spices in the clay oven they have but this was not the case , for main I ordered chicken in a cream and wine sauce and my girlfriend ordered a pasta bake concoction and I must say the food was tasteless and looked like something you would get out of a microwave meal. I had to add ALOT of salt and pepper just to establish some flavour ! The ice-cream dessert isn't even worth mentioning unless your a fan of supermarket soft scoop. Would not recommend!

This place is not Italian. The menus are written in pigeon Italian, which we actually found pretty funny, and since we are an anglo-Italian couple we like food from both our cultures. The problem is that the quality was bad. The pizze were pretty bad and nothing like what you would find in Italy. The service was okay to start with but went right down hill. The place was half empty and we waiting so so long for the check to arrive and even longer to pay. The place should not pretend to be Italian if it isn't.

Great experience. If you're doing mains and starters can easily share. Got the garlic bread with tomato and cheese and husband got the ribs. For main I had the salmon pasta and husband had the steak with peppercorn sauce. Everything was cooked perfectly. Really lovely place to eat. Will be back

Always a friendly atmosphere and the staff and chefs are very accommodating for any dietary restrictions and needs. They will even make egg and chips of you ask them 😉

Staff were really friendly and welcoming but the food was generally poor. Even a pizza...thought you can’t go wrong but the base was so chewy and toppings bland. Really disappointing.

This place obviously knows how to please their clients. Consistently with a very kind attitude. The food is reasonably priced, regularly yummy and neat.

We have always loved this place but something has changed. We went in for a celebration last weekend. We had a long wait for the table which, in isolation, is not a bad issue. Service was slow. Eventually ordered and starters were good, we then waited an hour for our mains which came out and 1 /6 was OK. Two steaks were sent back as they were stone cold as was a pasta dish. The veg side was freezing and inedible. By this point the servers gave up and we were having to flag them down to order drinks. We were never offered dessert. Just completely lacklustre in food quality and service. Wildly disappointed as we've never experienced this here before
