Visited last night for partners birthday. Small, cosy restaurant, lovely friendly staff. My only complaint was the gorgeous food, which it was, was served all too fast. Food was served Tapas style, which meant our main courses came out whilst we were still eating our starters, all became a little chaotic. Would have liked more time to appreciate the food and savour the experience rather than trying to eat everything before it went cold. It's not as though they are rushing you out of the door, as they weren't, so why all the food at the same time .... Just relax a little Lorenzo.

Chef Rob Owen Brown runs this unique street food operation from Easter weekend to the end of October each year, Thurs -Sunday 4-9pm or thereabouts. It's situated in the grounds of a lovely marina in rural Cheshire, there are moored narrowboat here and wide open spaces for a long walk through the fields if that takes your fancy. The mainstay of the food that Rob cooks here is pizzas, but oh what pizzas they are! Thin crusts, charred and full of flavour with loads of different topping to choose from, believe me I've tried them they are delicious. He also offers a changing specials menu which could be almost anything. I've seen game offered, katsu chicken wraps, half a roast chicken with rosemary and garlic and loads of other things too. There's always puddings, waffles sometimes and cheesecakes. You never quite know what's going to be going to be on, but it will be worth a visit and be delicious. This evening I had roasted sea bream with Mediterranean vegetables and garlic potatoes, it was fabulous. This is such an unusual venue, it's hard to give a realistic view of it. The food is amazing and next to the food cart is a re-purposed narrowboat ( out of the water) which serves as a mini pub. Loads of wines, beers on tap and bottled too, spirits and a comprensive range of alcohol free drinks. If that isn't enough there's glamping, camping and a lovely onsite cafe. Just come, it's amazing xx

Fantastic authentic food, I travel to Italy a lot and this was so authentic. Foccacia was light, calamari good portion size and salsiccia and gorgonzola pizza incredible. Was very busy , not the place for a quiet romantic meal but found service utterly charming and reasonably priced.

We were a party of 4 staying at Leonardos hotel across the road (which I also recommend). On arrival we asked if we could be served to fit in with an event we were attending at the cathedral and were assured that would be fine. The service from Gordon was efficient yet not stuffy and the wine recommendation was spot on, with the addition of a complimentary glass of lemonade in case the wine was too dry for one of our party...a nice touch. Each one of us throughly enjoyed our meals, served hot and fresh. Can't believe how busy it was for early on a mid week evening but testament of an excellent restaurant.

Asked if I could add mushrooms to the chef‘s special pizza, they said no it would spoil the delicate taste. Also when it arrived asked if I could add Parmesan cheese they said no it would spoil the special blend.when I tucked in. I found it a bit bland. They need get go over themselves and possibly cater for the customer.

Good reviews encouraged us to call in for wine. However wine of choice not available and we prefer an establishment where the toilets flush and the climb to the toilets is not helped by exceptionally sticky handrails. Not for us. Back to Paysan !

So we moved up from London in August 2023 and have been wanting for tasting menus since, its out couples thing. Danoi was our first "'tup Norff" menu post getting settled. The restaurant is all about the tasting menu. Of particular note is the wine pairing which picks up very nicely on the on the soil and water properties of the Tuscan region paired really well with great food. In general the premium wine pairing is worth going for - we tried both Classic and Premium on our visit, we noticed only one exception here. Of particular note for us was: The La Vellutata (Potato Veloute/black caviar/white chocolate) paired with 2021 Langhe DOC "Nascetta" - this was the classic collection exception - it was excellent and especially pulled on undertones of glacial run off water filtered by CLay and Glacial deposit - took me back to mountaineering, a great memory. The Beef Tartare served with a mustard Gelato was a new taste for us and both loved it. The pairing with the 2015 Langhe DOC "Quatr Nas" made us both pause to appreciate what we had just had. Another pairing worth a mention was the Ox Cheek paired with 2016 Barlo DOCG "Vigna D'la Roul" The cheese course is technically fantastic but for me was too much, we should have shared one between 2. It was worth being stuffed senseless though for the pairing of the 2016 Barolo DOCG "Vigna D'la Roul" Overall a fantastic experience. We did also visit the family's Gelato shop the next day, also worth a visit and really made us see where the Mustard Gelato came from - a great extra detail forming an overall fantastic experience.
