Da Noi in Cheshire West and Chester

We were enjoying the tasting menu until the belly pork came which was inedible as it was so tough. We told the waiter and he said he informed the Chef who said it could have done with longer cooking and sent her apologies. The rest of the meal was pleasant. As we could not eat this course I felt we should have been given a refund for it. We paid £80 each for seven tasting courses of which we could only eat six. I asked Fabrizio and he said that he would not do this and that I could talk all night about it but he would not reduce the bill. This is not what I would expect from any restaurant but obviously he doesn’t care about his customers being happy. It spoiled our evening as we felt unfairly treated.

We had the four course tasting menu at lunchtime. The service and food were excellent.... The only disappointment was the lasagne which was a bit dry but overall we enjoyed our visit.

Every course was presented well but some lacked seasoning & flavour. The tuna dish was by far the best, all the flavours complemented each other. The main lamb dish was also excellent, as was the lasagne. The staff were friendly & knowledgable & recommended how to eat some dishes to get the best flavour. We have eaten in many Michelin restaurants from bib gourmand to 3 star & for us this just didn’t quite hit the mark although we still had an enjoyable evening.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed probably now our 4th or 5th visit. We both really enjoy the tasting menu format and whilst we didn't love every dish, the first course was certainty different the whole point for us is to try new things. The premium wine flight was superb in terms of quality and the explanation of the wines . Overall wonderful food and great service we hope to be back soon...

Firstly this is a lovely intimate setting. Edina was really attentive with great drinks / wine recommendations, we even bought a bottle to take home with us. The 7 course tasting menu was all delicious and we both thoroughly enjoyed every course - the lasagna course was fantastic and a favourite for both of us. Thank you for such a lovely evening on our weekend away :) These guys also own Krum Gelato a 2 minute walk from Da Noi, we had an ice cream from there the following day - delicious! Highly recommend both!

With so many places to eat in the city of Chester it is difficult to stand out as “special” but Da Noi achieved this in spades! The evening tasting menu became one of the highlights of our small family weekend get together. We were welcomed into the restaurant and all details of the evening were beautifully explained. There followed a wonderful selection of the chef’s interpretation of some Italian dishes with excellently paired wines. The gluten free courses, for one of our party, were remarkably similar and of an equally high standard. I would unreservedly recommend Da Noi to anyone who enjoys fine dining in lovely surroundings served by extremely personable staff.

My husband and I visited Da Noi for the first time with friends last night and experienced the most wonderful taster menu. Everything was so clearly prepared with the utmost love, care and attention and the service was exemplary.

Gracious hosts who prepared delightful food. We really enjoyed it. We had a set menu for lunch (4 courses). One of the courses was a homemade style lasagne. It sounds simple but it was the best lasagne I’ve ever had. I could only have one glass of wine so I explained what I would like and they brought something wonderful that I had never had (alas I forget the name now) - but the point is they listened so carefully and brought something perfect. Will definitely go again. A place to relax and put your trust in.

It was a special dining experience for us at Danoi Chester on 17.01.2024. We were celebrating my husbands birthday ( at a later date) and chose opening night of the new menu for our Celebration. The owners Fabrizio and Valentina were very friendly. The Restaurant is a passion project for them. The food was tasty and beautifully served. The wines paired with each dish was excellent. Fabrizio explained it was a new and carefully chosen selection to complement the food. The choices were interesting. We started on cod cheek with a sour vinaigrette, onions ,sultana and pine nuts. The flavors were very balanced and the sorrrell leaf which topped the dish was an interesting touch. The potato velouté with white chocolate, black caviar and amaranth herb was an interesting combination we had never tried anywhere before. I don’t eat beef and even though we had not mentioned this in advance, the Chef was really nice and replaced the beef tartare with a beetroot tartare and mustard gelato for me. While my husband had the beef lasagna , I was served with a dish made of risotto , gorgonzola pear and walnuts . All other dishes including fish and venison had incredible flavour combinations and the dessert which was a Bunnet was delicious! WoW!! My husband enjoyed the meal so much that he commented to me that it was a pity more people were not present to enjoy the experience with us. The waiting staff member was very attentive. Chef Valentina has a lot of creative talent. The food, Wine and the warm welcome enhanced the value of the experience for us. We will definitely come again.

We've had a wonderful time at Da Noi. We were greeted by Fabrizio who has been a wonderful host throughout the evening. He masterfully adapted the wine flight to our requirements (no white wine!), keeping the wine pairings with their tasting menu perfectly in tune. Fabrizio is passionate about what he does but remains extremely professional at all times. We had the 2024 Start of the Year menu. The menu was absolutely exquisite and stays true to northwestern italian quality and tradition. While the whole menu was a delight, the Velutata (potato veloute/caviar/white chocolate) as well as La Tartare were highlights for us. Da Noi more than fully deserves its Michelin star. Many thanks to Valentina and Fabrizio. We will be coming back!

We popped in without a reservation but they accommodated us and my allergy. The tasting menu was fabulous. The potato veloute with white chocolate of particular note. Front of house were chatty without being too familiar. All in a wonderful and unexpected find - would highly recommend

Visited this restaurant in December for the first time and would not return. Firstly the restaurant was very cold so much so we had to keep out coats on for the duration of the meal, it took 30 minutes to receive our first drinks and then 60 minutes to receive the first course which was completely disappointing. The food was tasteless and seemed stale and as if it had been prepared days in advance. The staff were very rude and toilet facilities needed deep cleaning. The experience was day light robbery for the price we paid.

Da Noi is in the Michelin guide. We recently had a tasting menu at a Michelin Restaurant in the lakes. This was just as good! We really enjoyed the food, it was excellent. The restaurant was had a lovely ambiance and the service was terrific. A must for foodies in Chester

We visited last week for a tasting menu lunch. Lovely restaurant. Owner was very passionate about his restaurant. Service was excellent . Food was tasty and beautifully served but such small portions. We were left feeling quite hungry. We have eaten in many quality restaurants both here in the UK and abroad including a far few Michelin • restaurants and we have never left a restaurant feeling hungry before after spending a substantial amount of money . With a few teaks this restaurant could be fabulous

I don’t write many reviews but this has to be done. From walking in the staff were amazing. The food and wine flight were explained with knowledge and passion. Just book and go. When it’s right it’s right. 5* to the whole team.

Spectacular dining experience equal to any Michelin starred venue that I have enjoyed a tasting menu at. The food was delicious and complemented the season. I was transported back to autumn in Piedmonte truffles, porcini et al. The accompanying wines were delightful especially the iconic Timorasso. Thank you.

Had the tasting menu, every dish and wine was delicious One of the nicest meals we have had. So well balanced the menu and the wines. It was worth the price.

Wow! We had the autumn tasting menu with the classic wine paring. Absolutely stunning. Each dish was beautifully presented with flavours we had never experienced before. We took our two teenage children for this family meal and were made to feel very welcome. The staff were friendly knowledgeable and helpful and the whole evening felt very special but also very comfortable and not at all stuffy or intimidating. Nothing was too much trouble and the information we were given was interesting and really enhanced the dining experience. We would definitely go again and recommend to anyone looking for a special meal in Chester.

Visited on the 27th October with my wife and we were simply blown away by the entire experience. We went with the tasting menu and we both left the restaurant amazed. Service was outstanding, it could not be any better. Greta is a superstar and the level of service provided was top notch. Greta was assisted by an employee that appeared to be fairly new and was learning the role. The person assisting Greta was outstanding as well. We really enjoyed the service provided by both employees. As for the food, I am at a loss for words. Every course was unique and amazing. Unable to decide which dish was my favourite, La Tartare, Il Touro In Raviolo or Il Cervo. We truly enjoyed every dish but the one that really left an impression was the Branzino(Sea Bass). The only way I can describe Brazino, if you were to try and figure out what Autumn tasted like, it was that dish. The entire evening was a five star experience. Chef Valentina has brought something really special to Chester Chef Valentina is an amazing chef, an artist, and someone who users her talent to bring a smile on your face. We are very lucky to have such a great place in Chester.

Was excited about our visit to Da Noi and were were not disappointed. A warm welcome from Fabrizio and his team. We were keen to see if the cuisine offered and created by Valentina truly reflected her aspirations of offering truly authentic Italian food. As it turned out each course was perfect in all respects of her aspirations, truly....well done! Valentina is a remarkably talented chef and in all respects, the Da Noi website sets out exactly what diners can expect both in terms of not just cuisine but wine, service and the whole experience being offered. At the time of our visit Da Noi was still offering their Spring menu although they have now changed to a 'Tasting Menu' approach which I will come back to in a moment. We chose to have the suggested wine flight with each course. Our choices on the night were the Seared Tuna and Wild King Prawn Tails (Antipasti), Lamb Rump and Beef Fillet (Primi E Secondi) and finally for Dolci we choose to share Hazelnut Five Ways. Each of the above was superbly presented and absolutely delicious....see images. For us the flavours were magical and everything perfectly cooked to perfection. Thankyou so much Valentina. The suggested wines that came with each course were also perfectly matched and so each course was a complete success on our Da Noi culinary journey. Fabrizio you are a wonderful sommelier....thankyou. We think moving to a Tasting Menu approach will work extremely well given time. It is certainly our own preferred choice when dining at restaurants of this high calibre. Ok, it may not be to everyone's taste but this is a brave and major change in approach by Da Noi but one that we believe will bring even greater success. We are both certainly looking forward to our next visit to explore the tasing menu and are happy to travel from Lincolnshire to do this. 😊 We have eaten in the finest restaurants in Florence, restaurants who also aspire to Michelin status, but in all honesty, Da Noi is the only UK based Italian restaurant that, in our opinion, that comes close to matching our experience in Italy. We have no doubt that Da Noi will go from strength to strength and we can only wish Valentina and Fabrizio best wishes and all success.

We visited Da Noi last night. It was our anniversary dinner and sadly, it was not a good experience at all. Bad enough in fact for us to walk out after 3 of the courses. We are keen diners and have eaten in many restaurants around the world. We are both keen home cooks too (to provide some context) so know good food. The environment is great as are the waiting staff but the food really let it down. The first two courses were totally bland. I am talking no seasoning and severely lacking in flavour. The 3rd course was so salty I can still taste it this morning. At that point we decided it was best to leave and find an alternative restaurant. I politely pulled the waiting staff to the side and quietly and politely pointed all this out in the hope something could maybe be done but not a Penny was taken off what we had eaten. So we ended up paying £18 per dish. That’s £108 for 3 x tiny tasting dishes each that were sub standard. I thought maybe the team would’ve been nice enough to subtract 50% off the bill at that point or at least discount the wine but not a penny! Afraid we we won’t be back, guys. Danny & Emma x

Recommended to us, very disappointed, booked over a month ago to give notice of dietary requirements, rather than providing a substitute for some courses, items were omitted. We requested a number of times to shut the door due to draught and cigarette smoke from outside, eventually did half close the door. Food was average, style over substance. Under seasoned and some courses tasteless, samphire was woody and chard tough. Will not visit again

We were really looking forward to this having visited a numbers of times in the past when in Chester albeit of the ALa Carte menu and not the new tasting menu, my wife was a little apprehensive but excited too. We arrived and was greeted by Hannah who was our main server she was very nice and asked us if we had eaten at Da Noi before we explained we had but not under the new tasting menu experience. she explained the process and took our drinks order. We opted for the classical flight wine choice to accompany the tasting menu. Introductory course was seared scallop with caviar and an emulsion I would have preferred it to be seared a little longer and the emulsion to have a little more flavour but it was ok, the wine complimented it well. Next was Buffala and crudite suoerb crunchy fresh a creamy cheese and an excellent tasty gazpacho paired with a lovely wine. Next razor clams in a pork broth, salty but it worked very well all ingredients complemented the dish and again the wine was great really cutting through the flavoursome broth. Next the Beef and mustard I was about to ask if the beef for my wife could be cooked through when Hannah explained it was steak tartare on a tasting menu I think this is risky as it’s not to everyone’s taste but I thought let’s see. It came out with a mustard cream and a filo parcel, the meat was quite bland despite the mustard cream the filo parcel was ok but the dish was not inspiring and well under seasoned, my wife couldn’t eat it and I did notice that quite a few other guests appeared to have a mixed view perhaps an alternative could be offered if this stays on the menu. Next a pesto and pasta dish simple tasty and well presented pesto was tasty and the wine worked very well with this dish. Onto the Tuna and strawberries served very pink which I don’t mind but my wife would have preferred it seared for a little longer perhaps this could be accommodated, it was an interesting combination with strawberries and worked quite well I just felt that it could have been more intense flavours as it did lack that real tasty experience I was after, my wife couldn't eat hers but I did have that portions aren’t massive so i could handle it. The wine again worked well and was very good. Next the braised ox cheek with a potatoe purée and a sauce with wilted chard the ox cheek fell apart and was tender but the accompanying ingredients were again lacking in the taste I was expecting subtle flavours but need some more help, wine was superb and worked well with the dish. Finally the tiramisu choux bun looked excellent on the plate but I was again disappointed with the overall flavours it was quite bland the wine which was sweet with a hint of fig was nice and something I enjoyed as not all sweet wines are to my liking. There is not coffee included in the tasting menu so we paid the bill and left. Overall it did not meet my expectations the service was excellent and the food was well presented the atmosphere really good but it just didn’t quite deliver. The tasting menu experience alone was not an option I would return for despite fantastic meals before when A la Carte was offered. That said it’s been in place since July and the restaurant was full and lunchtime I was told had been busy too but at £270 for 2 I couldn’t help feel disappointed. Perhaps this concept is aimed at achieving a Michelin star it’s some way off that at the moment but I wish them well into the future. On previous visits the owner has engaged with guests more something he is very good at but he was not involved as much in this visit as in the past.

We had a wonderful experience dining at Da Noi when we were in Chester for the Open Golf Championships. The tasting menu and wine pairing were both incredible interesting but also spot on with new and unique combinations and pairings. I also want to point out that while the food is fantastic, the staff were even better. Greta who was our main server was s funny, engaging and explained everything the Chef prepared in a deeply knowledgeable bit accessible manner. I highly recommend if in Chester and you are looking for a special evening, Da Noi is worth the visit!

This place is quality over quantity - you won't be full but I can guarantee you will be satisfied ! The food is a real treat. Clever and light - there is real skill involved in it. Husband and wife team . Front of house husband its a lovely guy. Friendly and welcoming, always happy to answer a question. Intimate setting - cant be more than 20 covers at a sitting . Wine list was decent and there is a bottle for every cost point. This is very much a couples venue for those that enjoy the finer things in life.

Wonderful place wonderful food great service. I can't really say much more than that. I first went in there five years ago with my Son I returned this year with my girlfriend we enjoyed everything we ate, I especially enjoyed the wine selections that went with each course.

My husband and I really enjoyed our experience at Da Noi, I had the Sea Reared Trout and my husband had the Maccheroni slow cooked Beef Ragout followed by Strawberry Panna Cotta, all were delicious! The wine was really nice especially the Blush Rose which was recommended. The portion of food for me, was enough as I find too much on my plate overwhelming, however, my husband having a big appetite felt a little more on his plate would have been good, but still, he enjoyed what he had. Da Noi is lovely for a special occasion. The service was attentive and professional and a change from all the usual restaurant menus.

Local restaurant we have always enjoyed and today had the tasting menu (Sunday ) everything was a treat including the the wine flight, spot on. This is a great small restaurant that deserves a visit, Italian food that is Italian ! Fully recommend great location in the centre of town .

Delightful experience this evening on a first visit to Da Noi for dinner. Fabrizio and Valentina are a winning team, providing both a friendly welcome with plenty of good advice on the intriguing menu choices and exquisitely prepared original dishes, reflective of the season. There is also a pleasingly extensive wine-list, carefully selected to complement the food. It's a small restaurant which gives it an intimate feel, but tables are well spaced and the background music is actually enjoyable as it is not intrusive as can often be the case. I would certainly recommend Da Noi to anyone in search of good quality food and exemplary service. Many thanks for ensuring we had such a pleasant evening. We will be back for more! Italian bias menu, fine dining experience, small intimate venue, perfect for couples or special friends. Fish dishes particularly exemplary, nod to the coffee encrusted sea bass, authentic similar to a salt brazino which I’ve only eaten in Rome and Florence.

After researching restaurants in Chester I came across Danoi I loved the background information and liked the idea of an authentic italian restaurant in Chester and how welcoming it seemed online. It's sad to say we were disappointed. I had booked for my husbands bday....

Went with friends who had been before and were so pleased with delicious and unusual food we had. The owner is charming and explained everything we needed to know. Highly recommend.
