I rarely post reviews on Trip Advisor (or anywhere else), but I need to call out this restaurant. It was terrific. The food was outstanding-- and my wife and I are very familiar with Indian cuisine. The service was outstanding as well. It's right outside the York walls so it had the added benefit of being a bit less touristy. Highly recommend.

This place used to be amazing. Unfortunately it is now a run down poor excuse of its former self. We pulled into the car park almost sure that the restaurant had closed down. The place looked in a state of disrepair with paint falling of the walls and window frames. We were just about to leave when a member of staff came out and assured us they were open. Dubiously we went in, remembering how great it used to be. Inside, the decor was not much better, it was very tired, in need of some TLC and investment but as we were the only people in the place I guess that investment won't be coming any time soon as this place cannot possibly be trading very much longer unless it survives on take-away trade. Upon taking our drinks order, we were disappointed to be informed that they had no beer (draught or bottled) so had soft drinks. Unfortunately the disappointment didn't stop there as when our main courses came out, one was inedible and the other extremely salty to the point where it was only just edible. To be fair, the staff did offer to replace both of our meals, but we felt that the damage was done and just wanted to leave. I would strongly recommend you avoid this place, it is certainly not what it used to be. Such a huge shame.

I always really enjoy Akbars. Food is great and definitely has a bit more of a kick to it than some Indian restaurants. Me and my wife visited and enjoyed a night last weekend on a busy weekend in Sheffield. Service was still great despite how busy it was. I must say, the staff were excellent with me as I had a mass bout of cramp which to them must have looked like I was having a heart attack! Lol. They all attended to me and brought drinks and chairs over, constantly asking if I was ok and needed more help. We will be going back, it’s always well run and the food is great.

East provided catering for our office for a business event which was absolutely immaculate. The service was also brilliant everyone was extremely polite and attentive. I had previously visited East a few months prior where again the food was incredible. I would highly recommend East to anyone.

After service what a Joke. We ordered food from the Grimsby & Clee app as we always done at 20 past 6. Food due at 7.30pm. By 7.45 we called the restaurant and was told that they were running late and it would be about half an hour. We accepted this as we know that things can go wrong. However we called again at 8.35 asking for an update. But to be told your food will be with you when it does, also to be told that that are not delivering in the cleethorpes area as from next week. Because it's to far. The food was fantastic as always thumbs up to the chef. But the customer service over the phone was shocking. Would I go again or recommend to our friends. Well the answer would be a big fat NO.!!!

The service was fast and friendly, and the food was amazing. Me and fiancé both eat a lot and the portions left us full. We ordered a starter and a main, and 2 drinks each and it totalled under £60. We were served by Aftab, who was very helpful and attentive.

We have been several times over the years, as we sited our caravan nearby. Always been great. Pickle tray tasty and pickles. The mixed started very nice. Main courses always good too. The sauces like butter and tikka masala are on the sweet side. Great service, friendly staff, clean and tasty food. Plenty of free parking outside. Recommend

Family of four visit with two older teens for my sons 17th birthday. Went to the Sunday buffet on Sunday 29th September 2024 at 6pm. Had booked a table and given details of sons birthday... there was no confirmation sent to email or text message to confirm.Aargrah used to be a quality place to eat 10 years ago...which was why we decided to give it a go. The Sunday buffet was £15.95- summer special. Limited choice of food- many of the tureens for starters were quite empty. The kebabs were dry and overcooked, the vegetable pakoras were cold. There were no chips available in the tureen. the rice tureen was quite empty. The positive was the Naan breads were cooked fresh and could be ordered.. It seemed short staffed... While they asked how the food was as a courtesy, I didn't give a positive reply, but they didn't follow up. We paid the bill and left. We definately won't go back and certainly wouldn't recommend this place to friends, family or even enemies. Aargrah in Wakefield doesn't live up to the reputation it once had...in my opinion.

Such friendly attentive staff. The food was delicious especially the vegetable pakoras and onion Bhajis which were so fresh and crispy. We had fish curry, chicken tikka Balti and prawn korma all of which were great. The pashwari naan and aloo paratha were really tasty and the garlic rice was delicious. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Not been here before and though we would try.Looked nice on line, in a lovely village setting.Parking limited. Arrived and resturant was clean and busy for a midweek night. Seated quickly, as we had booked. Toilets very clean, i always check this before eating, as i think it gives you an idea of standards.Spotless. There seemed to be a large party seated, to the right in the room of the main bar, who seemed to be getting all the attention.Making you feel they were slightly understaffed. However, not asked about drinks for a while, and other guest served drinks, who were seated after we arrived.Think these people were local, so i suppose, you support regular customers first. Young man, serving our drinks from bar ,was lovely. Eventually served drinks and our order was taken. Man taking the main orders from tables, had not taken his happy pill that day and you could feel this from a customer perspective. Just had a pickle try to start, and it was very nice. However whilst eating they asked if they could bring our main meal. We felt as if we were being rushed. Food arrived, it was nice, but nothing special. Expected to be served on traditional indian table wear, but was not, as others were. Not sure,if this was beacause of what we ordered. Even at home i do this as adds to experience. I cannot say the food was poor as it was not.For me average, and would probaly not return again. Price wise a little on exspensive side for what we had ordered. Had a simlar meal the week before, at a resturant in Leeds, which was cheaper , but food was on par with Taj cottage. You would expect Leeds resturant to be more expensive. All in all not for me, and dissapointed it will not be a weekly go to for our family, as we eat out at least once a week , so we get all the family together at the same time.
