Aagrah in Doncaster

We had been before to the Aagrah, so knew what to expect, my wife and I went with our 2 grandchildren this time and had the buffet. Well it went downhill from there, the food was only warm, it was pre-heated scraps in over 50 % of the food, more than half was left on our plate as it was inedible, the nan pieces were pre-heated that they were like shoe leather and inedible. The food was like a bad take-away re-cycled. We know what to expect, the bill cast of £82.00 for 2 adults and 2 children with 2 cokes and 1 lemonade. Needless to say it was our last visit, this place is living on its past name, its only a matter of time before people like us realise that there is far better places in Bradford for less cost also. Very disappointing.

Cocktails were great. Kids loved the fact there were puddings. Service was quick and food hot. Chicken chat was devine.

Had a meal here and found it very average. More curry sauce than chicken, and tasted a bit bland. Service and drinks delivery was slow. Disappointing visit. Food not as good as it once was. Won’t hurry back

Food was amazing. So tasty. Service was excellent. Was a busy busy night when we arrived lots of take away waiters and looked like a private party. It didn’t feel like we were any less important and the service was definitely not slow. FIRST TIME HERE. WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE OUR LAST. Loved it. Reasonable price too. Well done !!!

Had a very average to poor meal and the waiter never let us know the meal we asked for was a meal for two. (Did not see this on the menu) So we ordered one each so far to much food. Worst £100 spent ever.

Lovely food… couldn’t fault it at all! This was a first time visit as attending a networking event for a business event. The curries were all amazing and hot. We had the buffet. I like spice and there was plenty of it. The service was lovely once seated. The man serving us made us feel at ease with chatty and polite attentive conversation. The only negatives I could say was upon entering the restaurant for the first time the layout was confusing with no one to tell you where to sit in bar/lounge etc as all servers busy. Other then that great night! Would go again.. also was a tad expensive at 25 pp for the buffet… throw in a drink or dessert and I think it would be even more popular! :)

Absolutely beautiful, the buffet food was piping hot, really tasty dishes, the staff are so pleasant, I can’t fault them for anything. I will definitely be coming back. I Recommend the Lamb chops and the chicken, they fell off the bone.

Been going for 10 plus years and will probably now look to go elsewhere as the guy who takes the phone calls and settles the bills attitude absolutely stinks, so rude

We never went into the restaurant we had a take out,I had chicken korma my wife had Rogan Josh. The food was hot so no problems there . It was my korma it was spicy and really put me off and I didn't enjoy it. I was expecting a creamy,mild korma not something that burnt the back of my throat, I think they got the sauces mixed up because the Rogan Josh was really mild. . I am well disappointed with them puts you off ordering again

Very rude staff. If you don’t want to be there…leave!!!! They have far too many tables for the kitchen to cope with. Booked the table for 7:30 and still waiting for food at 9:15.

These guys know how to cook a really nice curry. What lets it down is when you order a takeaway and things you have ordered (and paid for) are missing. Happened to me a few times now and regrettably I have gone to another restaurant.

We were there Saturday 19/11/2022. Mr (Sabir) one of the waiter, after half an hour, made sure we knew that we need to clear the table. Sarcastic comments out of blue such as '.....Take your time.....', starting to clear our table while we still eating, staff talking to each other looking at you laughing.. all this makes you feel very uncomfortable. We have two toddlers and feeding them takes time before we can start. Restaurant was half empty not sure why rude way to clear tables and to rush customers. We had to rush everything with all family to get out of the uncomfortable situation created by the waiter. Very disappointed with lack of professionalism and the level of service.

Booked for partners birthday as so many people rave about it. I honestly don’t know why! Tiny portions,pilau rice served on saucer sized plate,chips the same and they looked and tasted they’d been cooked 3 or 4 times. I had the Shahi lamb tandoori which consisted of a plate full of onions and tomato and maybe half a dozen chunks of tough lamb,no flavour whatsoever although it’s supposed to be a medium spicy dish I couldn’t taste anything.Not impressed at all.Service leaves a lot to be desired.Drinks order taken and served then poppadoms which were fine,then as mentioned tiny main meal,no one asked if we would like more drinks.Plates cleared away once we’d finished and the bill put on the table before we’d even asked for it! Don’t think I’ll be going back

Went here tonight with 2 other couples, worst food and customer service I’ve ever received in my life! Went in was absolutely packed no social distancing no wiping down of tables, and the waiters wearing masks below nose. Had starters very substandard and small portions and popadoms were hard and chewy. Waited over an hour for mains, to be served luke warm and tasteless. One of our party found plastic in her food (looked like it came from a microwave meal) when we told the waiter was told the manager would come and see us, he actively ignored us for another 45 minutes and only came to speak to us when we got up to walk out (we had asked over 5 times now to speak to someone to resolve the issue no one came or acknowledged us not even an apology). The manager eventually spoke to us, didn’t believe we had found plastic in one of the meals, then tried to charge us in full for the meal after we’d not touched any of the mains. We said we’d pay for drinks and starters and nothing else as that’s all we had. The manager became very rude and aggressive saying we had to pay for something, tried to explain that we are paying for what we had reluctantly but not the mains. The restaurant was advertised as having 40% off food he then went to charge us full price for the starters as in his words “he’d knocked the mains off so we have to pay something” again explained the mains were inedible we’d had a mouthful if that. Stood and haggled with him for ten minutes until eventually he knocked us 40% off the starters. Would not go back here again the staff are lovely to be fair but the manager is so rude, ignorant and lacks any type of people skills, and the food was horrendous. Can’t even give this a rating low enough

No one asked for contact details throughout our visit. The restaurant was packed out. It was no different to pre COVID times. The space between tables had not been extended. A group of 6 men came in with no masks and were not challenged. People were walking about the restaurant, presumably to the toilets, with no masks. When our starter was presented there was no cutlery with it and we had to wait to grab someone’s attention to get some. When the main was presented the waiter didn’t know which meal was whose. The same fish meal was ordered, one mild, one spicy but it took three waiters to decide which one was which after the second waiter had prodded each meal about to decide. Wonder if the poor service is due to the discount of 40% at the moment! Maybe you get what you pay for!! I have visited this place many times and have never had such a poor experience. Will not be tempted to visit again any time soon.

I haven’t been for a little while but the food was as good as always. We couldn’t find fault at all with any of it. It was all tasty, cooked properly and piping hot. The menu appeared to be the same although they are using paper menus currently and the writing has shrunk... so make sure you take your glasses as you’ll need them. There were a couple of niggles, minor but worth pointing out... I do agree with someone’s previous comments, some (not all) of the staff have no table etiquette. Is it appropriate to lean over people to remove drinks, or take plates whilst people are still eating? I don’t think so. It has lost a little of its warm welcome. I’m used to the staff always being so polite and welcoming but some (and again not all) I found to be a little aloof. Before I sign off what is the booth, that you have to walk through and it sprays over you? I don’t believe that will stop COVID 19 (coronavirus), if only it was that simple. If anything I would say that actually increases the chances of catching COVID if someone was asymptomatic, as everyone has to touch the plastic type curtains to enter and I thought the idea was to minimise touch.... I did find this really off putting. Happy to wash my hands regularly and happy to use sanitizer, even happy to wear a mask to go to the toilet (if required) but I don’t want to go back through that again.Will it stop me going any of this? No but I will refuse to go through the booth, as I don’t want to touch a plastic curtain that many people have touched before me.

Went for a meal with Family on Friday night. The food was ok if you had bought packet ready meals and cooked them in the microwave at home. But for a restaurant it was awful. even the bottled drinks of cider I had tasted off. I only had 1Had a sleepless night with an upset stomach and after speaking to family members the following day 4 out of the 6 of us had the same issue. As such I wont be returning any time soon

I've been going to the Aagrah in Doncaster for 15 years now. Over the years the quality has diminished but my most recent visit last week was the worst. The taste of the Kormas has all but gone. It used to have something special now all the currys now are just bland. The cooking seems rushed and the Naan bread comes out partially cooked and dough'y. I write this review because hopefully someone will read it who represents the restaurant and maybe things can be rectified. Please return to the previous flavours of old it the thing that made Aagrah stand out among the other currys restaurants!

Everyone in our party enjoyed their food although some classic dishes including my own seemed rather bland and lacking in taste, the service was quick and everyone seemed to be working hard, however, one thing I found totally inexcusable were the staff serving our table constantly leaning over and into me with plates and drinks, they also did this to clear empty glasses and plates when I was still eating my meal! I personally found this extremely rude and disrespectful especially after I had asked twice for them not to do so...I will never return for this reason sadly.

Consistently good as always Enjoy it here as you always know What you’re going to get it’s always hot fresh and tasty

Booked last friday for a meal for the tuesday 25th at 6pm for 2 people,it was going to be a special occasion and when I rang up the day before to see if I could change the booking to 6.30 the man on the phone didn't have my booking and was very nonchalant about it. They couldn't fit us in at all stating how busy they are and wasn't apologetic at all. Very dissapointed.

This used to be my favourite place to eat. The standard of hygiene has gone down drastically. I have visited twice where I have been poorly afterwards, the first time I thought maybe it’s a one off il give them one last shot purely because it is usually so good. I then visited during covid and me and my friends had hairs in our food and again were poorly after. It’s a shame because the food tastes great but the hygiene does not exist here. Such a shame

Had a takeaway tonight it was absolutely horrible we picked it up it was cold tasteless and all the curries tasted and looked the same what a waste of money don’t bother I did ring them and tell them they where not interested at all even the kids said it was awful

Ordered a take-away during the pandemic. Great service. Lovely food. Well priced. Also, gave a complimentary package of dates and fruit to break my fast with. Thank you.

We decided to have a takeaway which we always do usually every two weeks or so, now the pubs are shut we had a takeaway sat night, it was the worst food I have ever had from there we had a tikka masala and a korma omg it was like water, the korma ran off my fork and had no taste at all the masala was the same, it like they only doing takeaways and they don’t care what it’s like, it will be a long time before I order again in fact may not at all if it continues to be like that disgusting

Very disappointing!!!!!!! Starters were cold ordered main for daughter which was chicken and chips chicken was raw no apology was given nor was it taken off the bill. They have no customer service skills wouldn’t recommend unless you want your evening ruined

Starters are excellent especially the tandoori mix for two which includes a small salad with it. We usually then share a main course with a rice and a nan bread. Food is always great excellent staff and the service cannot be faulted.

Our group chose the Aagrah for Christmas Day as an alternative from the traditional lunch after being regular visitors for years. What a fabulous choice ! The buffet had a good choice for everyone, was tasty, plentiful & kept fresh & hot. There was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant with crackers on the tables & chocolate treats. The staff were as attentive as always and everything made for a brilliant Christmas Day meal. We will be booking for next year as soon as we can !

Beware. We visited one evening and chose of the ‘Slimming’ menu. The food was , at its best mediocre. Service was ok. However when we got the bill, it was much higher than we estimated. I asked for the Slimming menu to compare prices and each item was incorrectly priced. For example, the chicken Tikka starter was £3.50 on the menu, however the bill showed it at £4.50. I appreciate it was only a pound, however every item was different. This made a significant increase in what was In Fact a very ordinary meal. When mentioned to the staff, he accepted the Slimming menus were incorrect. Stick a sticker over with the correct price on then!! It’s not difficult!We won’t be back.

Feel ripped off and won’t be back. If you eat off the menu rather than have the ‘all you can eat’ buffet, you will be forgotten about, you will have to chase your poppadoms, then your drinks an then the bill. And when the bill comes, the price charged isn’t the total of the items you’ve had because they’ve put their prices up and haven’t yet had new menus printed! How convenient. During the meal the waiter asked if our meal was “OK?”. We said it was but is that really good enough? When I go out for an evening meal with my wife I expect much better than “OK”. I’m sure you do too. With so much choice around, we won’t be back. Indifferent service, “OK” food and an inflated bill. Terrible. Not “OK”.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in Doncaster. Definitely miss it now I've moved out of the area. Need to find an excuse to come back. Very, very tasty. There is always a good buzz and atmosphere.

Although it was early on a Thursday night it was very busy. Service was good, didn't feel rushed. Ample sized portions from a vast selection of food. Nice wine list. Found the staff friendly , was an enjoyable visit at a reasonably priced restaurant.

Attended the Aagrah with friends and the service was fantastic, like being greeted by old friends even though we only attend rarely. The starters and meal was absolutely delicious and I would recommend this place to anyone. Give it a whirl 👊

The food was really good but the restaurant was very busy which probably accounted for the service being a bit hit and miss during our visit. One side dish failed to arrive, which wasn't much of a problem as we had ordered too much food anyway. However, we had to request a jug of water for the table three times. This spoilt my meal slightly as although I had wine to drink, this does not really quench your thirst when eating spicy foods. They were very good at bringing the alcoholic and soft drinks but managed to forget the water on each occasion so it felt like they were reluctant to bring drinks which were not being paid for.

Decided to visit this Indian restaurant for a treat with our son and his wife, it was very busy when we arrived at 8.00pm, we only waited a few minutes before we were seated by the very pleasant staff who also advised us when choosing from the extensive menu.

Went for the Sunday buffet and the quality of the food was excellent which was a pleasant surprise when compared to most buffet restaurants. A wide range of curries and accompaniments all of which were superb!

I'd booked a table for four and we all had a thoroughly good time. I have to agree with a previous review who had said definitely recommended for smaller parties. I had been a few years ago with a larger party and it didn't work out quite so well. But anyway, this occasion most certainly did. We were well looked after with prompt, polite and efficient service throughout the evening. The meals were all good and hot ( temperature) and very tasty in their varying degrees of spicy heat. Terrific value with generous portions of very good food. We were all well satisfied and left feeling happy with our special evening out.

Well after everyone said it was so good I decided it was time to try it. Big mistake. Over priced supermarket quality curry. Soggy sweaty naan breads, greasy onion rings(that we’re supposed to be bahji) flavourless and bland. I’ll stick to what I know in future. Honestly I feel like I have been ripped off.

Came here on its opening night and have been a regular ever since. I am privileged to call them friends. You will be hard pressed to find better

I treated my family at restaurant service was good and food on spot definitely recommend for small parties.

Walked in seated straight away, drinks order taken, pickle tray arrived, all very quick, waited 10 mins for drinks to arrive (beer and gin). Asked if they did wholemeal rice, a manager came over and said everything is gluten and wheat free that they use, so against my better judgement (having a issue with white rice) I thought I'd give the rice a go. The garlic naan tasted like a plain naan, and the food wasnt to our taste. The table was being cleared whilst we were still eating. All seemed a bit rushed even though it was empty and only 8.30. Was left with unpleasant bloating due to dietary needs and overall was an average evening. We won't be returning

The food here is just gorgeous, and the staff are so professional and friendly, they always welcome you with a smile and the service is second to none :)

I eat here every year on a business trip, but this year I was disappointed with my meal. I had chicken chaat as a starter. THis was chicken in a thick batter. The chicken was nicely cooked, but the spicing was not particularly interesting. The portion was also too large - a starter should whet your appetite, not fill you up too much for the main course. The sauce with my Karahi main was tasty, but the chicken was overcooked and dry. I also felt that the diet coke was a bit pricy at over £6 for a pint and a half.

having had takeaways on a regular basis-ordered once again- food cold-chapatis old not fresh in fact worst takeaway we have had for a few years maybe because it was early - will no doubt try again but it will be sometime

Had a lovely meal here on more than one occasion. Main menu has allergens clearly highlighted. Staff are always on hand and are super attentive you never see them milling around doing nothing. It does get rather busy so can be slow at bringing the bill or drinks etc due to staff being busy, the food always arrives in a good amount of time so it seems staff prioritise getting the food out to tables during busy periods. Will be visiting again, soon hopefully. The only thing stopping me giving 5 stars is the choices for dessert, no choice for people allergic to dairy or vegan (there is a fruit salad which you could ask for without the icecream/cream) but who wants to settle for that when theres the likes of chocolate cake on the menu!

We enjoyed the meal so much last week that we went back again this week. Had murgh and lamb tandoori. Its served with peppers onions and mushrooms in a hot round skillet. The king prawn one is also fab. Comes with a side dish of sauce and has just enough heat. Veg cooked perfectly and meat is tender juicy and tasty.Garlic nan's are light and not too oily and they look after you. Given a warm welcome on arrival and have a decent choice of cocktails although I prefer Covra beer which is chilled perfectly.

Poor service from start to finish . Food mediocre. Not tempted to go back. Far better restaurants around

What can we say. Tasty food and good service. We ordered veggie starters and the samosas were very flavoursome. My king prawn curry and my hubby’s chicken dish was also very good. We will be returning again soon.

The food was fantastic, absolutely recommend the whole lamb (it says for 15 people), but there was so much food and plenty left over, even after all 22 guests had eaten more than our fair share. I came here for a meal out by myself. I felt lonely at first but the waiter was so friendly it felt I had a bit of company. The food was the best food I have ever tasted and I will be going more.

Starters were lovely and thought it was going to be a great evening. Unfortunately 2 of the 4 main meals were cold on arrival at the table. Yes this was rectified but should never have happened in the first place. We were sat waiting for our meal whilst our family were encouraged to eat theirs whilst it was hot. Not a great experience at all

Treat my son to A meal likes his curry his girl friend a veggie but not problems .had starters nice and spicey and every one could eat ,his girl freind ordered a veg curry which she thought was the best and loads of food that much she had to have a carry out

Having been regulars here for years we met following an absence of some time. Initially all appeared to be the same on the surface (although it was never the same minus Assif). Service was OK, the menu seems to have less choice and a number of favourites appear to have been discarded (the sizzling Kharai dishes), but we made our selection and efficiently taken to our table. The first thing we noticed were the cheap paper napkins. The pickle tray was very mediocre and the mango chutney now appears to be a much watered down version. The mains were 'OK' but seemed to lack the zingy freshness that we had experienced before. Even the crockery seemed cheap and the coffee mugs were a throw back to chunky pyrex style and too big for the measures of coffees, it was also very drafty and chilly. Overall, based on this experience it will be a long time before we return we are sorry to say.

Four of us ate there on a Saturday night. It was very busy so I’m glad we booked. My two friends from Doncaster and Sheffield respectively thought their meal was excellent.

Aagrah is probably the most popular Indian restaurant in Doncaster, and with good reason! The staff are friendly, the service is efficient and the food is outstanding.

This is one popular Restaurant! It would seem a lot of people book parties here, particularly on a Sunday when the buffet is on. This is excellent value with plenty of hot and delicious food.

Beautiful food very nice restaurant service on point came through the door greeted by a lovely chap aziz who took us through to our table greeted by another chap called speedy who took our drink order and popadoms and with a blink of an eye there are our drinks and popadom WOW.! That’s service we felt so looked after ie attentive efficient in our food arriving in very good and professional standard and our clearance of our table was so skill full it was an exciting thing to watch how our waiter cleared our table in one go that’s some talent enjoyed the chicken lashen and the shami Kebabs and a peshwari nan with a sneaky kulfi great value great staff will be BACK...!!

Not been for a while but The Aagrah didn’t disappoint. Good friendly service, great food - we opted for the buffet - which was convenient, plentiful and varied. Still decent value for the money. The Lal was in good shape too 🍻👍🏻

We love Aagrah and have visited many of their restaurants across Yorkshire but our 'home' restaurant is Doncaster.

The good is freshly made with an explosive amount of flavour. Customer service is good but can get very busy so booking is probably your best bet.

Family of 5 adults, saturday evening very busy, we had already booked table so we're seated very quickly, 1st impressions very good, lovley setting & clean, waiter didn't rush us to make our order allthough no service with a smile from this gentleman. Food arrived all together in good time, portions were plentiful & the chips were lovley no cheap frozen fries/chips. House white chardonnay was also very nice. All our mains were delicious no complaints from any of us. Only feedback I would give is to change menu slightly as my hubby likes a sizzler platter but Could not se this on the menu, saying that the writing is very small we all struggled to read it, we would all Def return again, well worth the money

This is not my first visit but I haven't reviewed yet. The food was delicious and the service was great throughout. We were able to enjoy mixed grilled tandoori starters and this was followed by brilliantly prepared mains based on Chicken, Lamb and vegetable dishes. The waiter asked us for our preference and diverted from the set menu to give us some traditional fair.

I used to really enjoy aagrah whenever I’d been with family or friends... I tried it 18 months ago on a buffet night and recall not being impressed with the Chicken Korma for it not tasting creamy and like coconut!

We visited the Aagrah on Thursday thinking it would be a quiet night, wrong, during the evening it totally filled up. Must be popular. We were with friends, including one visitor from Australia. The service was great. The food was cooked to perfection. We were all full and very satisfied. We will certainly be back.

Aagrah is a lovely restaurant.The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable when you are ordering.Its probably easier to reserve a table as it gets very busy.

Gorgeous food as always with friends. We did feel like the waiters were rushing us at the end of the meal to pay up and leave. Was quite disappointed by this as some of our friends had never been and we had raved about it to them. I don’t think they will return. ☹️

Called for a family takeaway. Chicken tikka masala was bitter, inedible and beige (see photos). Lamb Rogan Josh was flavourless and fatty.

Visited aagrah for first and last time tonight, we were very disappointed with both the food and the service.

What a very good night, the food was excellent as was the service. I would definitely eat here again. The staff are excellent and polite and make you feel as your the only one they are looking after, cant compliment them enough. Thanks for a very good night guys hope to see you soon

We were a party of 4 and we visited after going to the races unannounced, we were accommodated having to only wait for 10 minutes. The staff were really attentive and professional. We ordered sizzling share starters and had them tailor made to our tastes adding extra cod macli (to die for). Following it up with lamb nihari, lamb Baltic and again a tailor made Baltic the lamb in the bone was superb soft and mouth watering. The food was brilliant and the staff were excellent. We will definitely return.

I’ve visited Aagrah many times and also to take away and have never experienced a poor meal. In my opinion dining in is best as the food is at its best . The lamb Hyderabady is excellent as is the King Prawn. Tikka Masala. I...

We booked here after seeing good reviews for my husbands birthday with 9 people.

We had a brilliant night here the food was excellent and service fantastic. We was a large group and they accommodated us perfectly. All the food came out at the same time and we didn't have to wait too long at all as you would in other places. The staff was extremely organised and made it easy from start to finish. Will definitely use here for a large family meal again

As always a wonderful meal in a great atmosphere,always busy lots of choice on the menu and great staff.
