The best restaurants serving Indian food in Yorkshire and The Humber

Soy un residente local de Bridlington, y mi esposa y yo, y dos amigos de fuera de la ciudad visitaron el Azafrán a las 6 pm el sábado por la noche. Elegimos este establecimiento ya que está en la planta baja, sin escaleras para negociar. Había un montón de personal muy amable y servicial en la asistencia. El restaurante se llenó rápidamente, así que se recomienda reservar. Las bebidas se pidieron y se llevaron rápidamente a nuestra mesa, nos dieron mucho tiempo para leer el menú. Teníamos la bandeja de pepinillos y poppadoms. Mi amigo y yo pedimos cordero haandi bhuna, madras calientes, su esposa pidió un plato de pescado al curry, y mi esposa, pollo con mantequilla, todos con platos de arroz y chapatis. Decir que la comida era buena, es una eufemismo, era fabuloso. Nuestros complementos para el chef y el personal. Tuvimos preciosa, muy razonable precio, comida, y disfrutamos mucho.

Noyon what can I say food was average at best. Edible but not really bang for your buck. We got in around 7pm on a fairly quiet Friday and after sitting down could reasonably understand why. The decor was very out dated and the rug maybe should’ve been changed a while ago. Nonetheless I had a chicken dish and my wife wanted her lamb rogan Josh as she’d become a fan of it in recent times. My dish was swimming in oil and very bland and frankly tasteless but the naan bread that accompanied the meal added some sort of flavour. My wife’s meal I’m afraid was far from impressive and may have deterred her from ordering another rogan Josh again. The lamb had a god awful smell and when the waiter had come to our table and observed the smell himself he immediately took it straight back into the kitchen. Credit to the waiter he hasn’t a clue what the chef had cooked and cut it off our bill while also given us the drinks we’d ordered on the house. It was a nice gesture but unfortunately I don’t think we’ll ever return there again.

Brought a mate here last week(Sept 2023)for a meal on a Friday night and it was Delicious we had a sizzler starter to share, a main course and rice each,and one naan bread,My Chicken Madras was Amazing! Used to eat here many years ago when it was The Spice Merchant.Nice decor and lighting too.

He estado viniendo aquí durante años y la comida siempre ha sido excelente. ¡Esta noche fue mediocre en el mejor de los casos! No hay problemas de cantidad, pero la calidad era muy mala. Las comidas principales no tenían ningún sabor. Rogan Josh no tenía cebollas, ni pimientos, un pollo reconstituido. Nadie preguntó si lo disfrutamos. Le dije al camarero que era de mal gusto y que se lo diría al chef. Actualmente no recomendaría

Was lucky enough to have a curry bought for me from Eastern Spice (so could be worth bearing in mind there could be a no-cost bias through out). I was perfectly happy with my curry, naan and onion bahji were a great accompaniment. If I was in the area I would gladly get a takeaway from Eastern Spice

This is the best curry house in Chesterfield, delious fresh succulent meat. Naans to die for. Staff friendly, gorgeous. Immaculately clean, large linen napkins folded beautifully, glassware sparkles. If you go for a curry visit here.

Another beautiful meal at Sammy's last night! We’ve have been coming here for years. The staff are always friendly & the food is always fresh & delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a lovely meal or takeaway! ⭐ it’s bring your own alcohol too so you can bring your favourite bottle 🍻 The fish masala & lamb tikka are amazing!

We came here last year with friends and we decided to revisit for another delicious meal. It was quiet, considering it was a Friday night, but that made no difference to the quality of the dishes served, or the service received. Lovely location, above the shops, with a bar area, leading into the restaurant. The staff were attentive and polite, with nothing too much trouble. I opted for Goan crab starter and sizzling lamb chops and a  vegetable side dish. All yummy! And well cooked. We will be back to try more dishes!

Visited many times and never been disappointed. The food is good as is the friendly service. If parking in the Co-op car park, please remember to register your number plate when you enter otherwise you will receive a fine like I did.

Simply the best place we have ever been , the guys work so hard at giving you 100% service,, if you’ve not tried it ! Then do it The food is fantastic and service wow 🤩

Third or 4th time I’ve been. Good vibe but never quite been on board with the food. Today ended it. We had a gift voucher to spend, and when the wife said half way through “at least we won’t have to come again” that summed it up.

My partners favourite takeaway is Indian and we ordered from here by mistake. But what a great mistake it was. Best Indian we've had.

The Good:Poppadom (and battered starters) deep frying - well cooked, no excess oil on anything.The Bad:Small portionsThe chefs choice of two snacks on the veg Thali was 3 strips of deep fried okra and a cauliflower floret (in a nice batter)The 2 curries on the same Thali were something that could have come from a Sainsbury’s microwave mealThe Ugly:DecorCleanliness - while not that poor in general, too many things needed a better clean (tables, chutney pots)The yogurt and chutney pickles for poppadoms (other than the mango) were grim

We have tried all of the Indian restaurants in Harrogate and we always go back to this one. The food is excellent every time, great quality and fairly priced. All of the staff are very friendly and happy to answer any questions about dishes. Yes you can see from the photos of the premises that it is not a fancy restaurant but it is always freshly decorated and spotlessly clean. We would rather go here every time and know that the food and service will never disappoint.
