Mowgli Street Food in East Riding of Yorkshire

We've previously been to the Manchester Corn Exchange Mowgli and loved it so we knew what we hoped to expect. We went for my birthday on a Monday late lunch so not busy and quite chilly in the restaurant which might not suit some. This is indian street food (think tapas style) so you get the food out when it's ready. Having said that, we got our starter first, the yogurt chat bombs , which were so delicious, like an explosion in your mouth. Our mains all arrived together. I had the house chicken curry which was a delicious coconut style, and my partner had the green ginger and rhubarb Dahl which was not very flavoursome but still tasty. We added roti breads, rice , a mowgli chip butty and picnic potato curry. We were so full, don't believe reviews that tell you the portions aren't big enough. The venue is lovely with the signature fairy lights. Staff were friendly and made sure we were familiar with the menu. Really fast service too. Cocktails are tasty and a good selection of other drinks. A lovely birthday treat for me.

The concept is a bit different I suppose but we prefer a starter and then a main meal. The staff were spot on and service was good. Costs ok but they had 10% service which we don't mind paying (some don't like). The food was disappointing though. The lamb curry was watery and lamb tasted cheap. The butter chicken was decent. Rice was ok as were potatoe side dish. The chicken starters were ok and like something you could make yourself. Nothing was bad but nothing was good. We eat out a lot and food not up to what we normally have.

Lovely setting with couple and group seating. Food was delicious, and our server, Liv, was so helpful, great service!!

We visited Mowgli at their premises in Beverley for what will be the first time of many. The place itself is smart and tasteful with ambient lighting and character in abundance. Our waitress explained that the food we ordered would be presented as it was cooked not in any specific order as all the menu is based on street food. We went hungry and ordered 4 dishes each which more or less appeared at the same time for us to mix and match. The smells coming from each plate were enchanting and the flavours did not disappoint. My particular favourite was the Monkey Wrap full of sweet and sticky spicy chicken with fresh herbs in a tortilla like wrap. The Mrs. Enjoyed Mothers Butter Chicken best as she is not keen on heavy spice. My curry a House Lamb dish was superb and ever so tasty. After an hour or so we had finished most of that which we had greedily ordered and left a happy couple. My wife tried a couple of the cocktails which she is still crooning about. All in all we will return and try some of the other delicacies on offer.

Didn’t even stay for food as waitress was so rude! Place was nearly empty, but you’d think they were overrun with the attitude when we entered and asked for a table. No smile, no politeness. Reluctantly, the waitress checked on the computer for a table (when only three in the entire place were being used), after a long wait she said they had one and then swept past us to a table with benches and walked away before we were even seated. My mum is 80 and the benches were not suitable for her to sit on. I followed the girl back to the front and explained this, asking if there was anywhere else for us. She muttered that she’d have to check, several minutes later, with us just standing in the middle of the restaurant, she pointed to a table with a bench and a normal chair. We thanked her and sat down. She strode off again and returned with the menus, not saying a word as she slammed them on the table. We started to read the menus, when I saw her discussing us with the bar staff, clearly in a less than civil manner. We decided to leave. We passed her and she ignored us, the girl on the bar asked if everything was ok, we told her we we’re leaving as the waitress was rude, the bar staff did say sorry. We went next door to Lucia’s for a warm welcome and smiling staff!

I am not somebody who really enjoys curries so I was worried going in. I clearly didn’t get what this place was about. The staff were excellent and really helped me choose something suitable and wow! The flavours and variety were just unbelievable. Indian street food here must be at the top of what you can get. Have to give a shoutout to the gunpowder chicken and the Gin speciality that they do. I could have really stayed all night and tried numerous things but our booking was for a limited time. Don’t be put off by the ordering of multiple dishes it is more than enough and at a great price. Will go again as soon as possible

Have visited Mowgli Streetfood in quite a few other places. Always get excellent food and service. Also the simple eye arching design of the restaurants is welcoming. Here the same ambience ref the design. Wine as ever good and not over priced. My friend had the lamb dish which looked and was delicious. I as ever ordered the dahl as I am a vegetarian and this dish is usually excellent. Alas it on this occasion was not. Not properly cooked. Or spiced. The rice with it was the same. Undercooked. I ate what I could as we had been at a meeting all day so I was hungry. Quite disappointed really. But I will still visit and recommend this small usually fab chain.

Visited Mowgli Manchester on 11/02/2024 for an early dinner for four adults. Very concerned to see the vast majority of our eight dishes came in 'smaller round' dishes 7/8, even mother butter and lamb curry. I sincerely hope Mowgli isn't reducing it's portion sizes as we have had the same items off the menu in Liverpool on more than one occasion and all our dishes were served in larger portion rectangular containers. The food quality, outstanding taste, venue's and staff all continue to be FAB-U-LOUS. Please don't start to revise your service portion quality over profit. The bill for our table came to £185.50 DON'T GET GREEDY!

The restaurant has opened fairly recently in Beverley. It looks great from the street and the menu is interesting so we went for lunch. Outstanding. Some of the best and most interesting food I have ever eaten. Very tasty and, for me, a new experience. Good service too. We’ll be back.

Gorgeous, authentic Indian street food. Tasty, hot and fresh. The cocktails were to die for and the staff were so friendly and attentive. Lovely addition of a free birthday brownie too! Our table of 5 loved our experience here and we will definitely be back!

Popped in here just after midday on a Sunday, there were only a couple of other tables occupied and plenty of staff. We were seated straightaway and order was taken quickly without being rushed. I ordered a couple of vegetarian dishes, one of which was billed as the ‘vegan showstopper’, the chow, the other being the temple Dahl. The food came relatively quickly, my husband had ordered 3 dishes and all 5 came together. Unfortunately after taking a couple of forkfuls of the chow dish I was concerned as I found what appeared to be chicken! I told a member of staff that I thought I had found chicken in my meal and she went to the kitchen and then the waitress who had served us came back and collected the dish and my plate, and confirmed that I had ordered the vegan dish and they would just check my meal. I could hear a conversation take place in the kitchen, although not the detail of it, and the staff member then walked past me to the front of the restaurant and spoke to a young man who I assume was the duty manager. I went and spoke to this man who confirmed that it was indeed chicken and they were trying to understand what had happened. I let them know I did not want a replacement dish, I was quite upset that, although I hadn’t eaten any pieces of chicken I had eaten some of the vegetables that it was cooked with. The manager was very apologetic and informed me we wouldn’t be charged for our meal - which I do appreciate but really that is the minimum I would have expected! On leaving the manager apologised again, said the order has been properly taken but the chef had mistakenly made the meat version of the dish, and also stated the chef was upset at his mistake. The staff did apologise, accepted the error was theirs, and didn’t charge for the meal, but it is a really fundamental mistake. The lack of attention to detail at what was a really quiet time with ours being one of the first orders of the day is really concerning and does make me reluctant to return, which is a shame as I was really looking forward to eating here .

First time we have visited this restaurant and we were not disappointed. We chose six dishes and they all complimented each other the net result being food heaven! 😋 Service was exceptional and we opted for the normal chairs/table as opposed to the swing chairs which was just personal choice.
