The Good:Poppadom (and battered starters) deep frying - well cooked, no excess oil on anything. The Bad:Small portionsThe chefs choice of two snacks on the veg Thali was 3 strips of deep fried okra and a cauliflower floret (in a nice batter)The 2 curries on the same Thali were something that could have come from a Sainsbury’s microwave mealThe Ugly:DecorCleanliness - while not that poor in general, too many things needed a better clean (tables, chutney pots)The yogurt and chutney pickles for poppadoms (other than the mango) were grim

Good points, looked quirky and good atmosphere.First weekend so need to give it another go maybe ,we thought the food was ok but would not have us running back which is a shame.Food was very small portions we had 3 small onion bhajis small mouthful size , not the best just ok, 3 very small street food dumplings size of a 50p piece 1 cm high for i think £4-95. not good also curry rice just ok, did we order wrong or too busy week thali might be the one to go for.Beer and drinks expensive excessively so you shouldn't be paying 4-95 for pint lager and 7-00 for a small presecco imo in shipley it should be a regular reasonable price venue not somewhere we use for once a year.Hopefully have better to report next time i can try to persuade her to go but shes not keen.

With all good reviews I thought to try this restaurant for take away food. Aloo tikki was a stodgy lump of solid mashed potato with corn flour. Paneer tikka just marinated uncooked pieces of paneer. Saag paneer full of sweetness with red colour oil covered it.

We made a booking for 6 people earlier in the week. Called at the time of our booking last night to let them know we were running 5mins late, only to be told they had closed. Asked what about booking and they simply said they had already closed. Won’t bother again. Luckily we got into Shimla and it was lovely.

Rang to try and book a table. The guy on the phone ummed and aahed about whether they were open or not despite Tuesday being advertised as business night. Said he would ring me back. Thought, how would he ring me back as he never took my number unless it showed on the restaurant telephone? Left it 15 minutes and tried again only for it to ring out and get cut off. Shocking, that’s one to cross off the list

I often stay in Shipley when visiting family, and eat at Zaara´s as often as I can. The food is a symphony of tastes and aromas, pretty much the best Indian/ Pakistani food I´ve tasted. The difference from more standard "Asian food" is that it´s lighter, much less oily than the norm. This evening I had chicken jalfrezi and my wife had tarka dal, with a beautiful garlic and coriander naan that melted in the mouth! I strongly recommend this restaurant.

I've been to Zaara's a number of times and can't imagine why people would have a bad word to say against the place. The staff are always friendly as far as I have seen, and have been very flexible if we've been late to the table or wanted to set up tables for birthdays etc. The food is always the main draw though, perfect portion sizes don't overface but always leave you full, and it's of such good quality (I'd recommend the balti dishes and all lamb chops great) that you wouldn't complain if you got substantially less.

Went on Sunday as we noticed 50% off for food, the food was good but the service was awful, 2 of the girls were new so when they brought our food they didn't have a clue what the dishes were and had to go back and ask maybe a training issue there or a thrown in at the deep end and get on with type of training, I asked for a bottle of mineral water and was told they didn't have any I could have tap water instead, I ordered a garlic naan and was told they didn't have any garlic strange for an Indian restaurant!!!! We finally ordered and enjoyed our food, then the bill came with no 50% off and no drinks on the bill when we questioned it they said they would add the drinks on and take the 50% off which was correct we had 2 waters and 1 magners!!

Not an extensive menu but the 2 dishes we had were excellent. Chicken saag and a keema dish. Both were nice and meaty and not too much ghee...hurrah! We had a seasoned roti but the seasoning was really a bit of a waste of time. House red wine was ok too. We'd go back...service not scintillating but they are making an effort. Think this place is worth supporting as the food is good and reasonably priced. It just needs to be busier to create a bit of atmosphere! Perhaps an early bird offer that doesn't include alcohol might be a good idea.....someone usually ends up driving especially mid week when there's work next day!

Having frequented Zaara’s previously and placed glowing reviews on TA, last night’s visit was unfortunately extremely poor in relation to the service we endured. We must echo a few of the recent reviews on here and although the two young ladies waiting tables were pleasant and polite enough, the basics of supplying good customer service that we have experienced here previously were very sadly lacking.A party of seven we arrived a few minutes after our friends and so joined the table expectantly. Regrettably it was some ten minutes or so before we were supplied with menus, another ten minutes until they took our drinks order and a further ten minutes before the drinks arrived. A couple entering the restaurant at the same time as ourselves waited even longer before even being acknowledged and they were visibly irritated until after 40 minutes they were approached and apologised too for their wait before even been offered any level of service whatsoever. Menus seem to have been severely curtailed with limited choice which in itself is not a bad thing as we always believe it’s better to do a limited number of dishes very well rather than a multitude very poorly – however some regular favourites seem be missing. Our orders were eventually taken and we asked for the customary pickle tray to be greeted with a question from our hostess “ would you like this with or before your starters?” Never been asked that before and it seemed a little odd. Anyway the poppadum’s arrived and were unfortunately not fresh, actually quite chewy in places and quite disappointing. At this point, after we had been seated for maybe 60 minutes the starters arrived. My Chicken Tikka was very good. Four chunks of meat on a bed of onions on a sizzling plate. It was very tasty and enjoyed thoroughly. My fiancé’s Chicken Pakora was also well presented and demolished in double quick time. Nice crispy batter encasing three chunks of Chicken.Starter plates cleared we sat back and waited for the mains, and waited …….. and waited. No staff visible anywhere for large periods of time, no one to take additional drinks orders and in the end we had to approach the bar area and ask that some drinks be ordered when a waitress left the kitchen. Eventually the mains arrived after what must have been an hour between the starter plates being removed from the table – really was very poor. That said the quality of fayre produced was again very good. My lamb Madras being spicy but not overly so for my taste. The meat being succulent and plentiful, the finger chilli placed on top nice and hot. My Fiancé’s chicken karahi was also very tasty and proved too much to eat on the evening so it made its way into a doggy back to accompany us back to Horsforth. Once again though the star of the show was the fruit and nut naan, remaining as it had on previous visits an exceptional piece of cookery – well done chef.So to summarise, fayre was excellent, naan amazing, plates well presented, food tasty and thoroughly enjoyed by all our party. The main issue was the service and something has gone badly wrong here. It wasn’t particularly a busy evening and had we been the couple sat in the corner waiting for over 40 minutes before being even acknowledged, we would have walked out despite the quality of food - the lack of service supplied really does reflect very badly on the whole experience. The two ladies as we say were polite enough but the basics were sadly lacking. It’s such a shame and our sincere hope is that they can soon return Zaara’s to the service levels we enjoyed so much on our previous visits which was as exemplary as the food that still (eventually) leaves the kitchen.Visited with friends 8th March @ 7pm

I visted this restaurant with my family in December 2016 from Sheffield and this has to be the worst indian restaurant that I have experienced from start to finish and we have tried so many and we wished we had just left and gone to the much better Shimlas Spice just down the road.We heard some good reports about Zaaras so thought we would try it as it was a punjabi restaurant so we thought there would be some north indian flavours to the cuisine. Before we travelled to the restaurant we saw advertisment on website which said 2 courses £9.99 with naan bread, roti or rice which we thought was ok, We also looked at menu before we travelled and has picked what we wanted before we travelled. When we entered we were greated by a young waitress girl rather than the restaurant manager which I never like but that might just be me and what I prefer and with the restaurant not being too large even more so that the manager himself should make diners experience more personal.Once we were shown to our table I mentioned to the waitress that we will all be having the 2 course offer as advertised and then she surprised me by saying this offer is not available which I then responded by saying you have it advertised on your website and she replied by saying the management have not had time to remove it which to be honest was a very poor answer but I asked her to ask the manager if we can have this offer or not and if not we will be leaving. The waitress came back and said that we can have the offer so we all sat down and looked at the menu and to our surprise the menu on the website did not resemble the menu inside the restaurant. I asked the waitress the menu online does not match and she replied again that the management have not had time to update the website and the starters that we all had chosen prior to travelling to the restaurant was a total waste of time as we all had to choose other starters and such a bad start to our meal My mum wanted seekh kebabs which are normally lamb but these were chicken seekh kebabs when I asked the response that I got lamb is not popular. We ordeed chicken seekh kebabs, aloo tikki, papri chaat and lamb chops. When our starters arrived chicken seekh kebabs for dad were poor, oily not spiced and did not have much flavour 2/10. Papri chaat which is a punjabi dish was very poor my mum had asked for it to be very spicy when it arrived it was not spicy and the worst chaat my mum has eaten 1/10. My wife Aloo tikki was ok but average according to my punjabi wife words "nothing special" 5/10. I ordered lamb chops which to be honest were really nice and nicely spiced and had plenty of flavour and I could not fault the lamb chops and gave 10/10 rating. The salad variety on all our starter plates was very poor and lettuce was very wet. After our starters were taken away we then waited 30 minutes before our main courses arrived which was far to long.Fish curry arrived for dad which was whole with sauce ontop because restaurant does not have a normal fish curry on the menu which I could not believe as my dad always orders fish curry 5/10,lamb karahi 4/10 for me, aloo gobhi 4/10 and tarka dhal 2/10. We asked for all our meals to be asian style and very spicy as we eat very hot.All our dishes were barely medium spiced so I asked the waitress to bring some fresh green chillies rather than send all our meals back to the kitchen so she went off.We were still waiting for the green chillies more than 5 minutes and I could not get the waitress attention again to ask her where have the chillies gone so I got up myself and went to the front of the restaurant and said to the waitress green chillies and she replied im so sorry I forgot I went back to sit down and she brought them to our table finally. We did not enjoy our main meals which reflect in our scores out of ten above and also the portions were small.During our entire meal from start to finish in the restaurant the restaurant manager did not even come once to our table to ask if our starters or main meals were ok which is very poor. When I went to pay the bill at the bar I mentioned to the restaurant manager that our food was very poor and also our restaurant experience which was poorer than the food and it was not waitresses fault it was the managers fault.I mentioned to the manager we could of easily walked out as we were all unhappy but we did not and the manager replied sorry he did not discount our bill in anyway which I thought he could have done.I asked the manager that nobody came to our table once during to ask if our food was ok, He replied that we normally do but are short staffed which was a poor answer as it is his restaurant. It is the managers restaurant and he should of taken responsibility himself to go round all tables to ask if everyone food is ok and if anyone needs anything and if he was to busy he should of briefed this for his staff to do to make the diners experience as comfortable as possible. We cannot recommend this restaurant for anyone to try so please give it a miss the only good thing was lamb chops.Poorly organised 2/10Poor food 4/10 Poorer service 1/10 The worst service that I have experienced in over 200 restaurants.

The early bird menu (17.00>19.00) at Zaara’s is very cheap at £13 for 2 courses and this includes a bottle of vino, but is the food worth it?After eating there this week for the first time, my answer is a very definite “YES!” – and had I known that on their Facebook page there was an “amazing offer of 2 courses for £8.50pp… available throughout December Tue - Thur, all night”, I’d say you’d be a fool not to go there RIGHT NOW.We started with poppadoms and chutneys which incurred an additional cost but which were lovely. Papri chaat and onion bhajis were our starters. The first of these was new to us: it was very refreshing but not over-special. Not so the bhajis: they were top class. Our main courses were butter chicken and saag lamb. Both were generous: lots of meat… lots of very good meat. Both dishes were well-cooked and very nice but not distinctive enough to earn 5 stars.Service was pleasing and very efficient, and the physical environment is attractive. In total, with an extra portion of rice and the tip, we spent ~£17 per head (and that included that wine which we took away in the unopened bottle as we’re none too keen on vino with Indian food).Recommended.

On arrival in the reception / bar area there is a huge glass window that shows the kitchen. (Nothing to hide - I like this.) The menu is extensive will dishes to suit all tastes. When ordering your asked how hot you would like your meal (mild, medium or hot.) Our food was served onto hot plates and presented well. The portion size were satisfying and the prices were a true reflection of this. We were asked if everything was OK and it was. I would definitely return with family & friends. Since vegetarian food is the norm in India it is, for UK vegetarians, disappointing and perhaps surprising that Indian/curry restaurants in UK are usually predominantly aimed at meat eaters, with a few veggie curry options. But Zaara's seems to cater for meat eaters and vegetarians equally. There are many veggie options in both starters and mains and those we chose were delicious.Attractive offers make eating outside peak hours great value. For example at present Tues, Wed, Thurs evenings only £8.50 for starters, main and rice/nan/ or chuppatis.

There were 3 young waitresses who were very busy. We had to keep asking for drinks, the starters came before the plates were provided and we waited a long time between the starters and main. We visited the restaurant on Saturday 26 March with extended family from afar who were staying in Shipley for the weekend. We advised on meeting at Zaara's a restaurant we had visited in the past and enjoyed. We all arrived by taxi so finding a parking location outside the restaurant wasn't a problem. Inside the venue is very well decorated in a modernistic style. We were efficiently shown to our table in the far corner away from the window which was a little disappointing as the venue was rather quiet bit the table arrangements were such that there wasn't an alternative without re-arranging. We all started with poppadoms and pickle tray whilst perusing the menu. The menu itself is not particularly extensive but most of the usual favourites are there. We chose wine but it was disappointing to note that the menu showed a number of wines which were disappointingly no longer available, for example gewurtztraminer nor prosecco being a particular favourites of my wife. I would strongly recommend that the restaurant updates its menus soon as this does not give a particularly good impression. The wines we finally ordered were brought to the table in a timely manner.I ordered the chicken rogan josh served with a plain naan whilst my wife ordered the chicken tikka makhani. Both were average as regards portion size but both excellent in flavour and composition. Some of the party ordered sweets and it was pleasing to note that they differed from the norm. I ordered apple samosa served with cream whilst my wife went for strawberry samosa version. Both were very tasty. After the meal the bill was brought to us in a timely manner. The staff were all very pleasant and efficient. All in all it was a good experience and we will certainly pay a repeat visit. One comment I would make is that the venue for some reason seems to lack atmosphere, probably attributable to it being rather quiet on the night of our visit. However if you are looking for a good curry restaurant where you can easily make yourself heard across the table, above the surrounding background noise, then perhaps this is the venue for you.

My wife and I went on Thursday night for our curry fix, we usually eat out once a week trying different restaurants across the city. My choice this week and after reading the reviews and looking at the web site I decided on Zaara's. The choice was easy after reading the menu, top class descriptions of Indian classics, the killer punch for a tight Yorkshire man was the 2 course offer for £8.50 per person, blissWe arrived at 19.00 and was quickly shown to a table for 2 stuck in the corner with my seat looking at a blank wall a meter away, I asked the manager if we could sit somewhere more amenable, he showed us to a better tabel near the window, but explained the light in this area was broken and flashed, we were warned, indeed it was like eating in a disco. We ordered drinks and the food order wax taken soon after, 35 mins for the starters to arrive, followed by another 40 mins for the mains, not the best service given the restaurant was only a third full. The food in general was okay, my main course of lamb madras was well spiced and one of the best I'd had in a long while, my wife's chicken sagg was bland, but portion size were great. We got the bill and my better half said she'd treat me and promptly paid, wow, what result, although I did think she'd seen the special offer of £8.50 per person like I had? On returning home I thanked her for picking the tab up and asked what the bil was, she replied £34.50!!!! Why so much I asked, there was the special offer on? The restaurant had charged so for everything individually bumping the bill up by £15.00, a rip of or genuine mistake, unsure but won't be going back.

We visited in July 2015. We wanted to use a voucher that we had been given at Christmas. We didnt believe this would be a problem as there was no expiry date on the voucher. Just to double check we rang up, it took the manager around 2 hours to get back to us, we even rang again to see if he had made a decision. Eventually we were told we were allowed to use the voucher.I am glad we were. The food was lovely. We all had a different starter and each one was beautiful. I had a keema bhuna for main, which can be risky due to the nature of mince (being quite oily) however there was very little oil!The only thing that could have been improved was the service. I felt like a smile from the waitress would have gone a long way. However, we will be back very soon for the food!

Visited with friends on a Thursday for birthday celebrations. If you look on line the birthday person's meal is free if there are 4 or more and a free bottle of wine. Early bird 5pm-7pm too.The restaurant is typically English but the food is excellent Asian. We started with warm crispy thin popadoms and a great pickle tray. Loved the coriander one.The starters were sizzling and the mains plentiful and tasty. A selection of various steamed rice was also available as a healthy option. The drinks lets it down ever so slightly. There are bottle beers only and soft drinks are a rip off. Very thin glasses and with ice in, you get two mouthfuls. Opt for lassi or free water.Good value especially with one free meal and a bottle of wine. £64 for four with drinks is a great deal.

Went in here with high expectations after reading the reviews on Trip advisor. Also, after expecting similar service as per all the high class restaurants in Bradford, which seems to be the norm (EG MUMTAZ, AKBAR, OMAR KHANS, AAGRAH, JINNAH, NAWAAB etc.., unfortunately does not exist here. Not sure if it was the fact that we were not middle aged white public which deterred the owner the minute we entered the door OR the fact that we were expecting prompt service with respectable proportions of food... QUITE SIMPLY this place isn't for taste buds belonging Professional British Asians as we will never be "High Class" enough for the owners of this "Michelin Star" wannabe restaurant!! APNA'S STAY AWAY!! Moreover, the food took so long to come (We only ordered 2 Starters and 2 mains!) and as we only live round the corner, if would've been quicker to go home, eat, wash up AND come back in time for the STARTERS! SHOCKING!!!To top it off the 15 year old white waitresses tried to teach me and the wife what "should" be in a curry!! In Fairness she did go speak to her boss to pas our concerns but the term "The customer is always right" doesn't apply to professional British Asians!! HORRIFIC SERVICE! Anyone wanting decent food and needless to say decent service, look else where, but stay away fro here...

Me and my partner got a table here on New Years Eve. It was absolutely fantastic and very reasonable. The curry was so good and the staff were very lovely. Couldn't have been more happy! Fully recommend this place if you're looking for a top quality Indian.

Went here on the off chance after looking at tastecard restaurants. Went quite early which meant the place was quiet but the staff were very attentive and had plenty to talk about. They gave recommendations and the service was very fast. The starters and mains impressed my mother, brother and I and we hope to return again after Christmas.

Food is just at average had much better food around Bradford. Management attitude is very rude and unprofessional would advise rather go somewhere else. A local take-away ppl provides much better customer services then at Zaara's. Strongly recommend NOT to consider this restaurant as an option at any times!

An unusual Indian restaurant, less of the family traits but strong on customer service. Staff eager to please, standard menu but it's been done well. You will miss the 'Indian' flocked wallpaper, but replace it with wonderful delights on the taste buds. We are avid fans of peshwari nan. Have to say one of the best, if not the best ever tasted. We had it with dinner but it would work just as well as a desert. While this was outstanding the rest of the food was lovely. Lots of meat in the curries, flavours excellent. Great experience.

We arrived early, around 5.30, and parking was a bit problematic at that time. With one other couple in the restaurant we were shown to our window seat by a waitress (that in itself was very unusual for women are not to be found at any 'Indians' in my home town). The menu was fine and we settled on two of the less commonly found mains. The food was tasty and in sufficient portion size. However, as we had not been there before we were unsure about strength of flavour. We opted for medium but in hindsight we should have had hot! Prices were very reasonable. Drawbacks? No draught beer! Would we go back? Yes, if we were in the area but would not treat it as a destination restaurant

The food always tends to be a bit up and down but on this occasion it was definitely at the more bland end of average. I did enjoy the lemon pilau. The service was really disappointing: a few monosyllabic girls who all looked like they'd rather be absolutely anywhere else on earth and a bartender who thought we wouldn't notice a warm bottle of white wine. It's half a mile form the Aagrah which is more expensive but much better value.

Despite a slow night, they seated the two of us at a small table. I joked (privately) that they apparently didn't want us to order too many dishes. The menu was fine, but it didn't impress me - no long list of interesting varieties of Indian dishes that would normally make my choice difficult. My chicken curry (I've already forgotten which one) had a bit too much oil floating on top. The naan bread was far less tasty than the majority of other curry places I've been to. Nothing really wrong, but probably below average.

We visit as often as we can (usually about once a month) and have never been disappointed with the quality of the dishes. We attended in the first week of opening and must have been over 50 times in pairs, threes, fours or with larger groups. It is somewhere we always take visitors to the area. We tend to order the vegetarian curries, lamb or chicken saag and the tandoori roti, though by now we - or our guests - have probably tried something from every part of the menu.

A couple we know had recommended Zaara's for the meal deal. £7.50 for a 2 course meal. £2.50 supplement mentioned for fish dishes. As it turns out - this is PER DISH STARTER+MAIN! so £7.50 turns into £12.50!Pickle tray/chutney selection was below par and chargeable. Garlic Naan bread was awful.... dry, gritty and no moisture....no garlic, unless it was garlic salt - that made it taste so dry and horrid. We left most of this on the table - no refund was offered on our complaint.First visit here... I doubt we will be back. Shimla Spice do it better, as do Akbar's, Jani's, Aagrah, etc.

Second visit to Zaara’a after a gap of quite a while for dinner with friends. One of our party requires wheelchair access and Zaara’s is admirable in its provision by means of a gentle ramp to the premises and wide doors leading to the restaurant with sufficient room underneath tables to allow for comfortable positioning. As we remembered from our previous visit, the restaurant was nicely laid out, well set tables and extremely pleasant and polite staff, especially a young lady waitress who was probably the most polite person you could hope to encounter and who served us throughout the evening. Customary pickle tray ordered whilst we decided what else to devour, the coriander relish which we mentioned in our previous review was again the highlight. We have yet to encounter this particular pickle anywhere else and it really is a delight. Well done chef.Various dishes were suitably ordered and we took advantage of the fabulous midweek deal where a starter, main and side were all to be had for just £7.50 (extra required for fish ). Myself and fianceé ordered chicken pakora for starters, I then plumped for garlic chilli chicken flavoured hot whilst my fianceé and chicken tikka masala mild/medium for mains with lemon rice and a fruit & nut naan. The starters were excellent. Chicken wonderfully moist encased in crisp batter. They were so nice it would have been nice to have more meat on the plate, three chunks on each being not quite enough for our taste buds and hungry bellies! Plates cleared the mains followed soon after. My garlic chicken really was very good. Advertised as hot it was not overly so for my taste but a pleasant tingle on the tongue was left behind once the entire bowl had been demolished. Unfortunately I was a little disappointed with the lemon rice as it was basically boiled pilau with a few chunks of lemon added as an afterthought. Most lemon rice dishes I have encountered are flavoured and coloured much more lemony and although I ate the lot, it was the weakest element of the meal. That said, the fruit & nut naan that accompanied my fiancée’s chicken tikka masala was an absolute triumph and a king amongst naan’s. She enjoyed her dish very much but we really must make special reference to the naan. It was, without doubt, the best naan we have had anywhere – ever, and we have had quite a few! Light, fluffy, packed with nuts & fruit we cannot stress enough how excellent it was – we would very highly recommend trying one when you dine here.So overall to summarise, we really enjoyed our meal at Zaara’s and the mid-week deal is excellent value. All staff we encountered were very friendly but special mention to our lady hostess – she is a credit to herself and Zaara’s in general, really very well done. Quality of food was very good, the lemon rice apart which was disappointing. The naan – well it has yet to be surpassed on any of our many visits to Indian restaurants anywhere, it was exceptional. We would highly recommend Zaara’s and was well worth the trip from home and the Horsforth Holy Trinity of excellent curry restaurants Moghul, Shashlik and Gazi’s.We will definitely return and it won’t be as long before we do next time.Visited with friends 7th October 2015

Ordered take away food to be delivered for me and my wife and they forgot my main meal.Contacted them to explain their mistake and they proceeded to accuse me of missing the main off the order, which can't have happened as ordered the rice to accompany the meal which I did receive.Very rude staff and rather than trying to help they said if I ordered the meal again it would take 45 mins and would incur another delivery charge. So for my tea I had Pilau rice and lamb chops (My starter) and it ruined what should have been a pleasurable experience, will never use again. Also the Wife said her main was bland and not very flavoursome.

Went to this restaurants after arriving to Bradford. We saw some reviews that showed this place to be quite a good restaurant... How wrong they were. The restaurant is nice, around a 5 min cab ride from Bradford Centre. The food is not cheap (£40 for two incl 1 beer each).Starters were very disappointing! Tasteless and un-garnished... Worst I have had.Popadoms came with a very poor selection of chutneys.Mains were OK, nothing I'll rave on about however the Naans were very nice.I think the worst was what happened to my friend and I... 15 mins after the meal we felt very very light headed and very high heart rate! Quite the scary experience hahaI wouldn't recommend this place, apparently the best is Akbar's from what my way back taxi driver said.

We visited last week using the taste card and had an excellent meal. There was loads of choice but my favourite, and something I have not seen elsewhere, was a fantastic coriander dip that came with the poppadoms. I wished that I could have bought a jar of it to take home. It was a shame that we were only passing through so won't get to go again. Nothing was oily, everything tasted fresh and home made, just great really.

Went here with veggie friends. It was very noisy as there was a large party of people in who were shouting and screaming a lot which made it difficult to talk sometimes. Had poppadoms and pickles to start. Didn't get much pickle to go with 8 poppadoms. Ordered food, which was good, and our veggie friends loved their selection, especially paneer tikka, which they hadn't seen on a menu before. Service was very good, however, the only server to talk to us, make a joke or smile was a young lad. Everyone else was very serious and just 'efficient '. The bill came and we had been overcharged but that was amended when we showed them. There was a lady hovering around lots, watching, looking stern, which was quite off putting and didn't help to break the 'efficient ' atmosphere. Overall, it was okay but I think there are places that we will probably try to find next time with more of a friendly atmosphere and less formality.

We visit Zaara's fairly regularly and have done since it opened. We can honestly say we have never had a bad meal there and the staff are always attentive, courteous and friendly but last night 13/6/15 at one point we were the only clients in the place. I find it very strange indeed. The atmosphere is pleasant, the pricing very good, i really don't understand why the place isn't much more busy or popular unless there was a reason i'm not seeing. We've taken family parties there in the past and the have been full of praise so its not a personal bias. Harry & his staff can't do enough for the customer but i fear for the place if it carries on like this, no business can survive on those terms. I hope people will give it another chance if they weren't impressed and newcomers will try it out. It deserves to succeed.

We live locally and most weekends eat a curry . This was our fourth visit to Zaaras in 5 years and we still can't work it out. Something is not quite right. On the plus side most of our dishes were good to excellent.... we enjoyed in particular the excellent keema with chicken . However thie food is no better than several other Asian restaurants in the area. Quite how Zaara's is the only one which receives a Michelin star is a mystery .Service is fine if a little amateurish. Where it loses most marks however is atmosphere. We visited last Friday night .I can think of 2 Asian restaurants within a mile or so of Zaara's which are at least 5 times the size and would undoubtedly have been heaving. Zaara's was half full with no atmosphere. If you want a dependable decent curry in quiet surroundings then do visit. We'll certainly visit again now and again. But you can't help feeling that something is missing that stops this enigma from being a popular regular haunt.

We were visiting the area and researched Zaara's and were happy to give it a try even though reviews were mixed, after all the restaurant had been awarded a Michelin Star in 2013. On a positive note the staff were very pleasant, the two young girls who looked after us were excellent. The food we could only describe as average. The décor is very minimalistic and there was no atmosphere. What we could not understand was that on a Friday night the restaurant was almost empty when we left at 9.00pm.

For a time I lived in the South and went to a couple of good places for curry. And of course Bradford has a great number of places where you can have a variety of Asian meals. All have their own ambience and all have their own styles.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-29688539The article above reveals how great curry can be in Bradford. But returning to live in Saltaire one of the biggest reasons to celebrate was that I can walk to Zaara's with my family and friends. Harry is a gracious host. The food is invariably excellent. The main ingredient is the FRESHNESS and authenticity of the different recipes. I've taken friends from America and always try to take anybody who visits from elsewhere in the UK. Sometimes you wait, sometimes the service falters, but the snobs and gripers who pick at the food are clearly taste-blind or used to very Anglicised curries. The other thing we always do is choose one or two dishes we've never had before. Nothing has ever disappointed. Long may it continue to be a success. I am proud that I was there in the first week and have visited at least once a month since it opened.

OOOOO MEEE LOORRRD!!! This place is worse than eating out of date egg! The waiters had long hair which dipped into the curries when they served it to us. While we were there other customers walked out without paying due to the waiters using curry sauce as an alternative to head and shoulders.
