The best restaurants serving Indian food in South Tyneside North East

From the moment we arrived to celerbrate my Birthday May 2025. Our experience could'nt have been better. First impressions mean a lot and my 4 guest's and I ( party of 5 ) Loved the appearance of the place and the well dressed staff that greated us. My friends had not been here before, but they soon understood why I brought them there. Popadom trays arrived and we really enjoyed them with drinks We ordered or 5 meals 3 railway station lamb , 1 chicken tikka masala and 1 chicken dansak 2 mushroom rice I veg rice 2 chips 2 garlic nan and 1 peshwari nan. All arrived steaming hot and correct. Great atmosphere, excellent service , not intrusive at all, informative about menus, including vegan choices and all timed and ochestrated to perfection. Would even highly recomend on the of chance , but it is popular and it only takes a quick phone call to reserve a table. OUTSTANDING. I would Highly Recomend.

Used to regularly order here up until a couple of months ago when it first got bad. Tried again for the 3rd time and it will be the last. Three times its been consecutively bad, which is odd because the food used to be SO good. Everything I used to order tastes different and is just kind of lacking and bland now. The garlic rice is spicy now when it didn't used to be and the currys are supy thick and stingey. Today I got barely any sauce and the rice was spicy again after asking for it not to be. The amount of sauce is an actual joke, the picture I've added is after adding water to bulk it out. But yeah, shame

The best curry in the North East. You won't be disappointed with any dish from the curry centre. Me and my family have been going here for over 35 years and they've never let us down. Family owned with the friendliest team of people and the tastiest curry dishes going, I cant speak highly enough of the curry centre centre 🔥

We like to try different types of curries, something that sounds a bit different than plain. Bombay Babu fit the bill for this. We utilise their own site to take advantage of any discounts. The taste of our takeaways couldn’t be faulted, nor the speedy delivery, however the ratio of rice to lack of madras sauce was way out. You also have to order a can of pop with this meal (we didn’t want one) and they forgot to bring it. The Babus Salt and Chilli Pottika bowl was the highlight, worth a try.

Nice indian restaurant on shields high street (ocean road) good food pretty standard but nice and the staff are friendly...nice and clean worth a visit!

The last time I was here it was the Royal and previously the Zolsa about 30 years ago We had a great meal I had King Prawn Vindaloo and Fish Barji to start. I couldn’t fault it.. 10/10

Beautiful Sunday dinner it was fantastic can't wait to order again.

best curry i have had in a long time

Ordered 2 deliveries last week worst curry I have ever had chicken not cooked properly asked for a medium got a madras to hot terrible.
