Absolutely amazing experience. We had originally intended to go and visit a different restaurant, but then discovered it wasn't open. So instead we decided to look in the windows of all the adjacent restaurants that were open, and we all said we liked the look of Gin Ger. It was our first visit, but definitely not the last. The whole experience was positive and most enjoyable. Spotless linen tablecloths and nice thoroughly pleasant environment with authentic Asian music playing quietly in the background. Attentive, courteous staff who advised and recommended menu items without being intrusive. The food was superb, hot, nicely presented, but most important of all it was all delicious, with generous portions too. The nice thing about our trip was that we were being entertained to dinner by friends from another country and to say they were impressed was a massive understatement. I can't recommend this place enough, well done Gin Ger, thank you for a lovely evening.

By far the best I've had in my life, lamb special was unbelievable as was the naga chilli dish, rice and naan was perfect and fresh, great service from the staff too 👌👌 will definitely be a returning customer.

This is the best curry I have ever had. The service was excellent and the Guy serving us was very understanding and giving us extra time to order. Overall a lovely experience eating out. I had vegetable curry, pilau rice, chips and nann bread. Yummy.

Good and staff are nice. Unfortunately they have raised the prices too much. My bill went up by £10 even though I ordered the same as last month. £6 per pint £4 for half is way too much. £4.50 nan bread too expensive. I won’t be going back until they adjust the prices. My Tikka was nice but just too expensive.

A bit different to all the others on Ocean Road. Friendly staff, as expected clean and modern, and good food with a slight twist.

One of the best Indian takeaways/ restaurants in the Ocean Road are of South Shields. Delivery on time, hot and ready to eat, tasty and filling. Dupiaza and Gophi as main meals. Naan with plenty of filling, mixed rice and thick chips, lovely.

First visit on a cold Tuesday night. Asked to not be seated in window so nicely placed next to Radiator. Staff really welcoming. Nice clean easy to read menus. Pops and pickle tray nice with added lime pickle as extra. Special biryani very very nice - fresh tasting with nice chunks of lamb,fresh chicken and king prawn lovely. Garlic bread very fresh - i think one of the best Ive had. Beer prices not excessive. Lovely Cobra glasses 😊. Deserve 4.7 on trip advisor for the nice food. Would return. No photos as too hungry !

Food was awful, overpriced and cold by the time we received it as it was late. If I could give zero stars then I would and will not be ordering from this place again and wouldn't recommend it.

The food tonight was amazing....loved the pickle tray, had a chicken tikka masalla made vindaloo hot, and it didn't disappoint. The waiter was amazing, helpful, and friendly with great service 👍

This restaurant is having tasteless food , i think the chef who is cooking the food is not Indian ….. it’s some bangladeshi or Pakistani guy making fool out of people on the name of Indian food ….. not worth visiting it and quality of food is also really bad ….. this is the most honest review an Indian can give about Indian food

Excellent, authentic Indian food, the tastiest we've had for as long as I can remember. The staff are passionate about their food, in particular their signature dishes, some of which have spice mixes unique to this restaurant. Friendly, efficient service, a couple of tables in a quieter area away from large groups, and a lovely atmosphere. Outstanding.

Our mate got stuck in south shields due to the floods but thankfully your restaurant saved him from the floods. He used to not be a man of curries before he met his wife but she converted him and he now swears that ginger Indians is the best around. Great establishment 5/5 without a doubt. 👏

I've never had a bad experience at ginger, the food is fantastic, they take great care when it comes to dietary restrictions, even swapping out ingredients at request, and the service is second to none. Best restaurant in South Shields!

Not yet attended this restaurant but am very much looking forward to it. My mate goes about 3 times a week and refuses to go anywhere else, and he even looked into getting his wedding catered from you guys. Keep up the good work lads.

Lots of restaurants in the area to choose from, we picked this particular one because of its reviews by previous customers, and we weren't disappointed it was excellent!

Great food/price. Staff royal lamb curry was excellent. Server didnt understand much english. We went early and no one else was in.

amazing customer services the Anwar (staff member) was extremely friendly and always has a smile, the food tasted good next time I would ask for the pani Puriii to be abit more spicy and same for Samosa chaat the veg shingara chaat was amazing lovely flavours the lamb karaii was on point took guest from out of town (3 hours away) and they loved it and will come again next time they’re here!!!

Modern restaraunt & great menu. Plenty of new choices as well as the "old favorites" Excellent tasting food,Excellent service & Excellent surroundings. Highly recommended & I recommend that you try it. Take your time choosing your dish as there are dozens to choose from. FIVE STARS EASILY. Always good service & good good.

High quality food with excellent service. The menu has many "new" offerings as well as more traditional meals. You will probably wonder about the "new" meals, but have no fear as the ones I have tried for the first time are tasty. Have no fear just read the menu & try something different from your normal meal. Well worth a visit & the staff are very attentive & happy to offer advice & explanations. If you consider all of this & dine in lovely surroundings, I am sure you will enjoy your meal & evening out.

Had a meal here last week and would definitely recommend. Service, food and value excellent! Very knowledgeable about dishes and answered all our questions.Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Been ordering from them for a while now wouldn't go any place else everything is always beautiful taste fresh never had one bad meal yet... Only thing I'd update is the chips but the rice makes up for it. I order the chicken Tikka masala or lamb Rogan and always beautiful I'm quite fussy with my food so this is huge for me 🤣thank you for always making lovely food guys and girls 😁

Went out with my husband for a meal was not expecting the service recieved outstanding customer service and the presentatiin was out this work . The meals were full of flavour fell in love with the bhauna prawn if i could give 10 stars a would will be going again for sure the staff made u feel so comfortable and go out their way to please their customers dont think av taste a bhauna prawn like that in about 20 years out this world xx

Pickle tray nan bread rice and main, this was all exceptional. These people know how to cook Indian food, it was a delight.we are not local so fear we will not be able to return, but it was a meal to remember.

With so many restaurants on Ocean Road to chose from, this is definitely the jewel in the crown. The staff are so nice and the food is lovely. I don't like hot spicy food so they are happy to make dishes a little milder (or extra hot for my partner). Very reasonable prices, especially the set menu.

After a couple of bad meals in South Shields we were recommended this restaurant, the food and service was excellent and would recommend it to others. The staff made suggestions with menu choices which were good. Would revisit if we came back to South Shields.

Excellent! The food was absolutely delicious, they had an awesome vegan menu and the customer service was amazing! The people were really friendly and chatty, and it was an all round great experience. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!

My family and I were craving Indian food while we were visiting South Shields. Ginger Indian Street Food was one of the highest rated restaurants that I found online so decided to give it a try. It's now our new favourite! The food was sooo tasty and very well made, lots of options on the menu, and the set meals are really good value for money. I had the grilled fish as my main and I was pleasantly surprised at how tender and tasty it was. My mum had the Lamb Bombay Railway and it was extremely tender and delicious. Really can't say anything bad about the food. Best of all, service was excellent. Really helpful and polite staff, great ambience. Wish nothing but the best for the owner and staff. Looking forward to our next visit!

We have been using this restaurant for a while now. Food is to die for, service is amazing. Set menu 3 course for £8.95 is a bargain.

GinGer was recommended by friends and I'm so glad they told us about this fabulous restaurant. As soon as we walked in the door the friendly smiling staff made us feel very welcome, they were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We were spoilt for choice with the impressive menu and everything we ordered was well presented and delicious. We will definitely be back!

Went for first time and their menu was impressive. The usual BIR style dishes along with a good selection of street food dishes as well as things i'd not heard of. Front of house guy was very friendly and informative. The chef also came out to see if we were enjoying the meal (nice touch).

Very impressed on my first visit to Gin Ger. The NYE set menu was well price. The food was so tasty and very filling, so much so, we had take the mains home for another time. Very yummy! Will be returning to this lovely, understated, friendly restaurant. 😊

Great Indian street food. All the food was full of flavour and good portion sizes. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Would recommend for the various options available and you can have the traditional curries if you prefer that. Will be back soon.

Absolutely amazing food mega tasty, fabulous staff brilliant atmosphere. If you haven't tried it's a must you won't be disappointed. The last time I went I took the girls from work on Friday night they all said fantastic choice.

Ordered chilli chicken tikka, samosa chat , and chicken tikka biryani , starters was good but the Biryani is not good, no Biryani spices found in the Biryani , very disappointed with the taste of biryani , chef is from Bangladesh , Definitely this biryani is not Indian style

An excellent Indian dining experience with both modern and traditional flavours. Lots of items you call old friends and others you would do well to make their acquaintance. The service is second to none and all they want to do is make sure you enjoy your relaxed culinary adventure.
