We ordered from Delhi 6. The order was confirmed with the collection address of 150 Ocean Road, South Shields. Drove down to Ocean Road and the restaurant was closed. We eventually picked our meal up from Dean Road 🤷🏻‍♀️

The food is really nice ,we had order for set menu which was worth the price .I feel that the chicken tikka was a bit dry which can get better.Overall we had a nice evening the food was nice ,good drinks and tea nice staff .

Was greeted very warmly by staff members and offered seats immediately. We were a party of 5. We ordered three portions from three course menus and gobhi manchurian, chilli paneer, chicken 65, chicken tikka, and vegetable biryani. All the food was very delicious and served warm. Would definitely recommend and would love to come again.

Fish masala starter was amazing and melted in your mouth, the green sauce (not sure what it was) was really nice too. Main was nice too but a bit too spicy for my liking so didn’t get to fully enjoy it. Good naans too

Lovely food and nice people. We tried going back for more the next evening and when we couldn't get a table for six we ordered takeaway and I'm happy to say the food was just as good. Very happy customers.

It’s easy to see why they’ve won awards. There’s a 3 course set menu on most evenings apart from Saturdays. £13.95 pp but there’s a £2/£2.50 supplement for lamb or prawn. Good value for money. - The chutneys with the poppadoms were very tasty. - The railway lamb curry had tender meat, although the gravy could have been richer. - The Manchurian chicken curry was a decent level of heat. It’s similar to the chicken 65 (which was also tasty). - The Delhi Tuk Tuk and mixed grill starters were done well - Naan was alright It was really welcoming and the service was generally great, with the curry king doing the rounds and chatting to the tables.

I normally love the food from here, however tonight it arrived cold and soggy. The meat was chewy and the Mossala sauce had a very sour taste 😩

Delicious food, great service. What more could you ask for? I had lamb that just fell apart and was some flavoursome. If I am ever over this side of the country again I will be sure to come for another visit.

Disappointed after so much hype,soft old poppadoms and nothing else to say wow.3 stars is being more than fair.better sticking to the old established tryed and tested restaurants.

Tried this place last night, decent little restaurant. Not the Indian street food I was expecting, more in line with a traditional Indian. Nice though, butter chicken curry was one of the best I’ve had. Overall not as nice as Goa along seaburn

We had the mixed grill. It was very disappointing. The meat was tough and not pleasant and we expected to get a little salad and sauce but there was none. We normally really enjoy Delhi 6 food but not this time. A positive was the lovely delivery lady who was early.

Visited this restaurant yesterday, we have been a number of times before and always enjoyed it. The ambience and service are good. I ordered a king prawn dish this time. When served the prawns were very rubbery, chewy and inedible. I returned to the kitchen and got a second try of the same dish which was worse if anything, unfortunately which I found inexcusable. My husbands dish of chicken tikka was lovely. The manager did offer to replace my main course with an entirely different dish, and the bill was discounted.

Excellent food. A group of 5 of us regularly go for meals and this was definitely on par with the best we've had so far, and we have had some great meals. The staff were friendly and attentive, a varied menu, and the restaurant looked good.

Great low key, relaxed atmosphere with good food to back it up. Cheap pints of Cobra and excellent coffee as well. Their set menu is a terrific value. Note for fellow Americans: their spice heat rating is serious. 1 pepper icon will be toasty, 2 and above should be avoided unless you really like the heat. Best get 2-3 papadums per adult.

Great staff, great food, great atmosphere. Unfortunately I do have to mention the length of time the food takes to come out. We were told they were short staffed but we were told the exact same thing 3 weeks ago. During busy periods you do need to improve or you will lose customers which would be a pity as everything else is spot on.

We've used Delhi 6 for a long time now but this evening they raised the bar. My Wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with our Son and Daughter. The hospitality was bettered only by the food. The Delhi tuk tuk and the Tandoori lamb chops in particular where exquisite. Until the next one, which will be soon, well done Delhi 6, another tremendous meal.

First time ordering and experienced poor service and lack of communication at the first hurdle. Heard great feedback about Delhi 6 so decided to order via JustEat today. Waited over an hour and 30 minutes. Called three times and was told on two occasions that our order is out for delivery only for the third phone call made my me to be told that the food was never sent out with the delivery driver. Such a poor experience and a total put off from ordering with this restaurant again.

Normally this place is outstanding. The food tonight was horrible. Lamb chop burnt very dry. Chicken went in the bin. Dry and cold. Nan bread was lovely. I won’t order again. I gave the meal one star that was for the Nan

One of the staff was extremely rude to us. We went there with family. We did not even eat we had just ordered and the guy asked us to leave whilst we were waiting as my infant son was making noise and he said this wasn’t our home and we needed to manage the child. Upon reminding him that he was being rude, he then asked us to leave his restaurant. This was very disrespectful and embarrassing in front of all other people. This person may be should put a sign board outside that this is a kids free resturant so we should not bring kids.

Full flavour, stayed hot till I got home, friendly staff

Saturday afternoon sunny South Shield beach taken the kids to funfair. Around 5 we were starving knowing Ocean Road very well thought we dodge to see what’s available to eat. We saw Delhi 6 doors were open. The staff were brilliant when went in but at first did put us off by one of the staff member smoking/vaping outside entrance. Nice gentleman taken us to our seats. Service was good as for the food the papadoms were nice and crispy with the dips. Then came the starters, the sheek kebab was ok (lack of salt) 5/10, onion bhaji 9/10, some sort of Lamb dish 8/10, some sort of chicken dish 4/10 it was probably phall hot and had naga which I hate I was sweating but then it could be my fault not reading the description properly, rice was good, nans were nice and fluffy 9/10. Staff were good and service was prompt!

Just returned home from the most amazing visit to our now new, favourite restaurant in Shields! From start to finish the service and the food were amazing. The starters and main course were very well presented, tasted out of this world, and the portion sizes were plentiful. The staff, each and every one, were warm, welcoming, and super attentive. A must try and for us a definite return.

The restaurant made a mistake with our neighbouring table's bill, undercharged them very slightly. The table tipped, meaning the restaurant was less than £1 down, and still chased them on it. How embarrassing for Delhi 6 to behave that way after the restaurant made the mistake. We watched the whole thing, and will not be returning. I felt so bad for the customers, who obviously were regulars and dealt with it well, but I bet they don't go back. I hope the £1 was worth it! I didn't want dinner and a show, and I'm sure no one else did either. Edit: Shocking response from management. Defensive and weird, demonstrates my point entirely. You weren’t as quiet as you clearly imagine yourself to be.

Just had dinner with husband at Delhi 6, Ocean Road, South Shields. Set menu, £13.95 per person. Delicious starter, nice main meal and coffee. We asked for the bill and it came to £ 27.95. We paid £30 and said please keep the change. Owner of restaurant came back with the bill and our money. Said waiter made a mistake, lamb curry my husband had was a couple of quid dearer. Total was now £30.40....My husband paid an extra £1 and told them to keep the change. Really Delhi 6??? Your mistake initially. And all this for an extra 40 pence in total?? Due to the fault of your waiter, not us!! We might not return to your establishment...

When a restaurant makes a mistake, that's on them. You don't humiliate customers over less than a pound. Wasn't happy to see this tonight. Can't believe they still tipped after all of that. You don't survive tough times without good customer service, and I'm going to eat at a different curry house in future. My food was unfortunately too salty, but not salty enough to cover the bad taste I was left with tonight.

Starter tasted of curry powder also dhansak curry both uneaten. Plain naan small and hard. Only rice n chips worth eating. We ended up with a chip butty. So disappointed will definitely not order again.

I had takeaway food from Delhi 6 on Ocean Road before and it had always been excellent. However tonight was a huge disappointment. Both curries listed as mild were very spicy. Even though I like spicy food that is not the point. Ordered a side of chips and received pale looking roast potatoes which were clearly reheated from the day before. Not sure what happened in their kitchen tonight.

Wasn't overly impressed with the mixed grill....lamb chops were well overcooked(burnt) as we're the king prawns(really chewy)...chicken pieces weren't marinated properly ....chips were lush as were the dips and the onion bhajis were nice

Food is not at the same level as the Westoe restaurant. We were disappointed as we always order from Westoe and thought we had but noticed the quality was poor compared to normal. Then noticed it came from ocean road restaurant. Will not make that mistake again as there’s a huge difference!!

Food quantity was too less, very small portion.

My son and i visited Delhi 6 early on a Friday evening, and i found the whole dining experience first class. My son had eaten there before, and had suggested we go there, and what a good shout. I guess its a real challenge for an Indian restaurant to stand out on Ocean Rd, given the huge variety of competition,,,,,,,but Delhi 6 does. The service, the food, and the atmosphere were all exactly what a good restaurant should be. We received a warm welcome from the owner as we arrived, and the level of service from Johel was exceptional. He even offered to provide a dish that wasn’t on the comprehensive menu, and nothing was too much trouble. It goes without saying that the food was lovely. As i say, there’s plenty of choice on Ocean Rd, but give Delhi 6 a whirl…….you wont regret it.

Lovely food and nice staff although it took over an hour to get our starters and it was slightly off putting to hear the manager criticising some of the staff over which order they brought out certain items etc. The staff do seem lovely in general so perhaps just a busy night.
