The best restaurants serving Indian food in England

We use India Villa regularly for the Sunday Buffet and also for take away. We love the food and really enjoy going there. Last Sunday 23rd February however we had booked a table for 6 - then increased the booking to 8 guests. our table was booked for 1pm and we arrived on the dot! the restaurant was totally empty apart from us. We were shown to our seats by a new member of staff who was rather annoying with his rush rush approach and his 'London Boy' accent. We had only been seated for 5 minutes when he came and told us to go get our buffet as he is closing at 2pm? I said the Sunday Buffett usually runs through to 3pm? his answer: "not today it don't!" We hadn't even received our first drink! all through the meal he was hovering and making silly comments (trying to be funny - which he wasn't). We had no time to order a dessert or coffee because at 1.45 he was at the table AGAIN beginning to clear our plates - some of us were still eating. He totally spoiled the family get together we were all looking forward to, and if on my next visit to India Villa I spot him waiting on tables we will immediately leave. What a shame - its usually so lovely.

This review is truthful. I'm a local resident with Indian ancestry. The other day, I attempted to reserve a spot for three people. After waiting for a response for twenty-five minutes, I decided to cancel the reservation and place an online order for fried rice, lamb tikka, chicken pathia, South Indian garlic chilli chicken, various nan breads, and rotis. I could not find any differences between Naan and Rotis, and they are chewy as well. Chicken curries are very poor quality as they are previously cooked chicken meats reheated with some poor quality readymade gravies. No spices or flavours are entered in the meat. Lamb Tikka doesn’t taste like real tikka and tastes weird and rubbery, and the portion was too small for £12. Fried rice was again too little for the price of £3.50. I have attached pictures of Lamb and Fried Rice. And the food colour stain remained on my fingers for a long time, possibly using some chemical colouring. I believe that by charging three times as much for tiny, strange-tasting curries and chewy breads, these people are simply defrauding or exploiting the locals, who are unaware of the true flavour of Indian food. Less than ten people were seated when I arrived for collection at 8 p.m., which was not surprising. Why could they not respond to my booking request even after 25 minutes? I could have got much better food in good portions from a takeaway for half the price.

Fantastic restaurant that truly deserves a 5/5 stars rating. The food was brilliant, showcasing a delightful array of flavours. What stood out the most was the extensive menu, offering plenty of options to cater to every palate. Very friendly staff, thank you to Shaheen for the service.

Been coming here for years, turned up tonight and a very rude man was dismissive and said there was a 25 mins wait, which was fine. He kept changing the time so we decided to go somewhere else, as we left another waiter tried to stop us, physically grabbing and squeezing my wrist, very wrong and surreal. After 12 years will not go there again

Saag and potatoes were just incredibly bland and just lacking in flavour. Waste of money as well as calories intake for the day. Wouldn't order from them again.

No poppadoms no draught beer and cash only which we were only told at end of meal so had to go to cash machine to get cash.

Omg. Omg. We had THE BEST meal here Saturday night. So much so we returned Sunday night aswell. Beautiful food. Loved it. Unfortunately I live in skegness so to far away for a delivery. When I'm back we will defo go back. The young men that serve in there are a asset. They worked so hard. It was packed out Saturday night.

Great food, great friendly service- would highly recommend for fab meal

Our go-to spot! We’ve tried lots of places, but we keep coming back here—it’s just the best. My husband’s a picky eater, but he loves it every time. We’ve even tried different Indian restaurants, but nothing compares. The food is always delicious, the atmosphere is cozy, and the staff are fantastic. We’ve definitely become regulars.

Ayer llevé a mi pareja a Khai khai por su cumpleaños y toda la experiencia me pareció corta de regalo. La comida era buena pero el servicio era terrible, teníamos hasta 4 camareros diferentes quitando platos de nuestra mesa pero ninguno de ellos, ni la encargada, se nos acercó una vez para preguntarnos cómo estaba todo, si necesitábamos algo más, más bebidas, postres, etc. .. Finalmente después de esperar siglos tuvimos que pedir la factura nosotros mismos. Completamente ignorado durante toda la noche, diciendo que no nos lo tomamos como algo personal porque fuimos testigos de un mal servicio también ofrecido a las mesas que nos rodean. Definitivamente no volveremos, hay un montón de restaurantes en Newcastle que garantiza una buena experiencia gastronómica de un cliente, este no es uno de ellos me temo!

Always 10/10 excellent quality, hot food.

This is our first time trying Indian Summer and we we're definitely impressed. Ordered a takeaway and didn't have to wait anywhere near as long for our food as I expected & this is on a friday evening! Had a 9 mile drive home but the food was still quite hot when we got there so only needed a couple of minutes in the microwave to get it hot enough again. The Staff we're friendly and helpfull & food itself was really nice and we'll certainly eat from there again 😋 would definitely recommend 👌
